Modeling icon Linda Evangelista posted on Instagram Tuesday evening that she settled her $50 million lawsuit against a company whose cosmetic procedure she claims left her “brutally disfigured.”

Earlier this year, Evangelista went public with the side-effects she suffered as a result of CoolSculpting, a non-invasive method of using cold to shrink fat cells.

However, in the model’s case, she suffered a rare side-effect called aradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), which saw the fat cells in the affected area swell and harden. The result was fatty deposits she couldn’t diet or exercise away, and are difficult to remedy, even with more invasive plastic surgery.

“I loved being up on the catwalk. Now I dread running into someone I know,” she told People in a feature back in February. “I can’t live like this anymore, in hiding and shame. I just couldn’t live in this pain any longer.”

The details of the settlement with the procedure’s parent company Zeltiq Aesthetics, which she sued in 2021 weren’t released. However, Evangelista noted on Instagram, “I look forward to the next chapter of my life with friends and family, and am happy to put this matter behind me. I am truly grateful for the support I have received from those who have reached out.”

CoolSculpting insisted to People at the time that its FDA-cleared treatment “has been well studied with more than 100 scientific publications and more than 11 million treatments performed worldwide,” and that rare side-effects like PAH are documented in its patient information.

Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora is gearing up to release his first new music since before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sambora was interviewed earlier this month by Red Carpet News at the 2022 Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards in London, and he revealed, “I have a new record that’s ready to go, and I’ve been kind of holding it through the pandemic. And I’d say in the fall we’re gonna put it out.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer was also asked if he found it difficult not to be able to perform live or play music with other artists because of the health crisis.

“It was interesting for me because it was probably one of the first times there I had a chance to, forcibly, slow it down,” he admitted, noting that the downtime gave him the opportunity to practice a lot and write songs every day.

Sambora added, “I played a lot of piano too. So it was actually a decent time for me because it slowed me down on purpose.”

As for what fans can expect from his new music, Richie said, “I’m very proud of it. I don’t write bad songs anymore…it just doesn’t happen….[I]t’s not hard for me. I’m just lucky that way. And plus, I just write all the time, so it’s like a daily exercise for me.”

He concluded by telling fans, “Get ready, there’s some good stuff coming. I’m sorry it’s been so long, but the pandemic kind of held things up.”

Sambora’s last project was 2018’s Radio Free America, a collaborative album with his then-girlfriend, Australian guitar whiz Orianthi

Heat wave forecast: Dangerous, triple-digit temps slam much of US as Europe bakes
ABC News

(NEW YORK) — A dangerous heat wave is stretching across much of the U.S. with temperatures in the triple digits from the West to the South to the East as sweltering, unrelenting heat continues to slam Europe.

Here’s what to expect Wednesday:

Excessive heat warnings stretch from San Antonio to Tulsa to Memphis, where it’ll feel like 105 to 115 degrees.

Heat advisories extend from Cincinnati, Ohio, to the Mexican border, with the heat feeling like over 100 degrees for this wide swath of the central U.S.

The heat index — what temperature it feels like with humidity — is forecast to skyrocket to a dangerous 108 degrees in Houston, 113 in Dallas and 112 in Little Rock and Memphis.

Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio may reach record highs. The intense heat is also continuing to create a breeding ground for fires in Texas.

In the Northeast, heat advisories stretch from Maryland to northern Vermont.

The heat index is forecast to jump Wednesday to 101 degrees in Philadelphia and 98 degrees in New York City and Washington, D.C.

The heat wave in the Northeast is expected to last through the weekend and may linger into next week.

Meanwhile, in the West, temperatures are expected to climb to 112 in Palm Springs and 113 in Las Vegas.

And in Europe, the United Kingdom on Tuesday reached its highest temperature ever, breaking 40 degrees Celsius for the first time as U.K. officials declared a national emergency and issued unprecedented health warnings.

Tuesday was the busiest day for London’s fire department since World War II, Mayor Sadiq Khan said.

Spain and Portugal have reported more than 1,100 heat-related deaths amid Western Europe’s record-breaking heat wave.

People in Paris and London will feel some relief Wednesday with temperatures falling to 75 degrees Fahrenheit and 80 degrees Fahrenheit respectively.

But the heat Wednesday turns to Spain, Italy and Germany.

Madrid is forecast to reach 99 degrees Fahrenheit, Milan 98 degrees and Berlin a scorching 100 degrees.

A new Netflix comedy special from comedian Mo’Nique is on the way.

The Oscar-winner announced the exciting news in a short video shared to the streamer’s Twitter account.

“Can y’all believe this s***? I done came on home to Netflix,” she joked.

“I’m so excited to share that I’ll be shooting my first Netflix comedy special,” Mo’Nique continued. “Oh, and in case you didn’t hear, I’m also reuniting with my friend, my brother, director Mr. Lee Daniels on the Netflix film The Deliverance.”

“You won’t want to miss either of them, so y’all stay tuned,” she added. “And thank y’all my sweet babies. I love us for real.”

The news comes about a month after Mo’Nique reportedly settled a 2017 lawsuit against Netflix, in which she claimed she was given a “low-ball” offer for a comedy special and then retaliated against when she cried foul. At the time, she leveled claims of race and sex discrimination against the streaming service, claiming the $500,000 she was offered by the streamer paled in comparison to the multi-million deals Netflix gave Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer and others.

Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
