Greta Van Fleet may have a classic rock sound, but they’ve attracted a young fan base. In an interview with ABC Audio, guitarist Jake Kiszka discusses how the “Highway Tune” rockers are bringing their sound to a new generation of fans who didn’t grow up listening to the genre.

“We have probably way more younger audience members now than ever before, and I just think it’s catching on,” Jake says.

Greta Van Fleet is made up of two millennial and two Gen Z members: Jake and his twin brother, frontman Josh Kiszka, are 26, while their younger brother, bassist Sam Kiszka, is 23, as is drummer Danny Wagner. As the Grammy-winning band gains traction among younger audiences, Jake says that inspiring a younger demographic is exciting for them.

“It’s cool to see all of these young people, and they’re looking up at us and we’re playing a show,” Jake says. “It’s like we’re doing something now for our generation in a way and … it feels special.”

During GVF’s Dreams in Gold tour this year, Jake saw Gen Z fans dress up en masse in ’60s-inspired hippie apparel, something he’s never seen at a concert before.

“The audience themselves have almost become part of our show, in a way,” Jake says, adding that the fans’ enthusiasm for dressing up influences how he presents himself, too.

“I know that if I’m putting together a suit, right, and going onstage, I know that someone’s going to emulate that,” he shares. “So, I’m putting extra thought into it.”

As the tour comes to a close later this year, Zoomers can look forward to more GVF music. The group’s been writing new material while on tour to follow 2021’s The Battle at Garden’s Gate, which Jake says could arrive in 2023.

Instead of a sequinned LA Dodgers baseball uniform, he wore a sequinned LA Dodgers bathrobe, but Elton John’s final North American show Sunday night at Dodger Stadium will likely be just as fondly remembered as the original career-making shows he played there in 1975.

The third night of Elton’s three-night stand at the stadium was streamed live globally by Disney+, and was preceded by a 20-minute pre-show that included goodbye wishes from the likes of Dolly Parton, Sting, Coldplay, Bette Midler, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Ed Sheeran, Joni Mitchell, Tony Bennett, Prince Harry and even President Joe Biden.

The concert itself featured hits, album cuts and fan favorites from across Elton’s entire career, from his very first hit, “Your Song,” to last year’s “Cold Heart,” performed with special guest Dua Lipa.  She was one of three guests for this final show: Brandi Carlile stood in for the late George Michael on “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” while Kiki Dee, who sang with Elton at the original Dodger Stadium shows in 1975, returned to sing their number-one hit “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.”

As Elton wrapped up the concert, he brought onstage the man without whom, he noted, he wouldn’t be here: Bernie Taupin, his songwriting partner of 55 years.  He also brought out what he said is the reason he’s retiring: his family. His husband David Furnish came onstage, along with their two adorable sons, Zachary and Elijah.

Elton told the crowd, “I became successful first in America, and you bought the singles and the albums, and the 8-tracks, the cassettes, and CDs, and more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows….so I want to thank you for that, because you made me.”

He added, “Without America, I wouldn’t be here. So thank you for all the years of love and generosity and loyalty.”

“I wish you health and love and prosperity,” he concluded. “Be kind to each other, O.K.? And farewell.”

Here’s the set list for Elton’s final North American show:

“Bennie and the Jets”
“Philadelphia Freedom”
“I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues”
“Border Song”
“Tiny Dancer”
“Have Mercy on the Criminal”
“Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be a Long, Long Time)”

At long last, Adele has premiered her long-delayed Las Vegas residency show Weekends with Adele, and it appears it was worth the wait.

“I am so scared. I am so nervous!” the star told the cheering crowd of 4,300 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace Friday night, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. She gave credit to Celine Dion, the venue’s former occupant, explaining, “That’s the only reason I wanted to sing in here, because of her.”

According to the Review Journal, the show began with just Adele and a piano, but soon grew to include massive video panels, a backing band, an LED chandelier and two dozen string players performing in a giant grid. At one point, Adele went into the orchestra section and kissed her boyfriend Rich Paul and her son Angelo.

Special effects included a rain curtain and eruptions of fire during “Set Fire to the Rain,” and clouds of confetti, featuring messages like “Better Late Than Never!,” were dropped on the crowd.  Adele even called out two fans who were in what she called “the worst seats in the house” and moved them to seats that had been selling for as much as $40,000 each on the secondary market.

Want to see the show for yourself? Adele’s added two New Year’s Eve weekend shows: December 30 and December 31. Presale registration is available through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program from now through Monday at 11:59 p.m. PT.  The verified fan presale starts at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

“New Year’s Eve has always been a let down for me, I seem to always end up spending it in a car on my way to or from somewhere! But not this year!!” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ll be ringing 2023 in on stage!! I dress up to the nines on NYE and I would love it if those of you that come would too! Let’s go all out black tie vibes.”

Barbra Streisand‘s Live at the Bon Soir bowed at number 8 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and number 7 on the Top Current Album Sales chart. It’s also her 64th entry on the Billboard 200, debuting in 150th place. The live album was originally recorded in 1962 and was intended to be her debut, but it was shelved for her 1963 eponymous effort.

Christina Aguilera performed “Cuando Me Dé la Gana” alongside Christian Nodal at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards. Entertainment Tonight reports the singer donned a black sequined jumpsuit to belt out the Ranchera-style hit. Christina went into the ceremony with seven nominations and won Best Pop Vocal Album for Aguilera.

Taylor Swift is not only shaking things up in the American charts, she’s also leading a chart double on Australia’s ARIA charts. Billboard reports her Midnights album and song “Anti-Hero” are leading their respective charts.

After producing an album with Halsey, could Zendaya be Trent Reznor‘s next surprise collaborator?

The Nine Inch Nails frontman and his bandmate/scoring partner Atticus Ross have been working on the soundtrack to the upcoming Zendaya-starring film Challengers. In an interview with Variety, Reznor and Ross were asked whether they’d ever want to write a song for the Euphoria and Spider-Man star, who also has a music career.

“We’d be totally open to it,” Reznor replies. “We both admire her completely.”

The “Closer” rocker adds that Zendaya is “incredible” in Challengers.

In the meantime, you can hear Reznor and Ross’ scoring work in the new film Bones and All, starring Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell. Both Bones and All and Challengers are directed by Call Me By Your Name filmmaker Luca Guadagnino.

“Luca was on a shortlist of people we thought we’d love to meet and collaborate with,” Reznor says.
