Journey’s Neal Schon sues bandmate over credit card

There’s some new infighting within the band Journey. New legal documents show Neal Schon is suing bandmate Jonathan Cain over a credit card.

According to the Page Six, docs accuse Cain of opening up an Amex card through the company that operates the band, suggesting “millions of Journey funds have flowed through it.” Both Schon and Cain have a 50% stake in the company, Nomota, and in his suit, Schon insists he “has the right to access and control Nomota’s books and records” in order to “oversee and manage” the company and the band. Schon, however, argues Cain has yet to turn over important records about their finances.

Schon’s documents argue he needs the financial records in order “to determine the proportion of Journey’s profits that he’s entitled to as the founder and president of Journey,” adding, “Schon’s right to Journey’s profits is being controlled by Cain — Schon’s bandmate, who Schon brought into the band in the 1980s — and despite all of his requests and efforts, Schon has been unable to get full access.”

Schon adds that Cain has told him he will have access to that Amex card, but so far, he has yet to be added to it. He says he only knows it exists because American Express told him about it.

Despite the legal fighting, Journey is set to hit the road on a 38-city, 50th anniversary tour in February, with special guests Toto.

Jack White, Trent Reznor deactivate Twitter accounts following Elon Musk takeover

Jack White and Trent Reznor have deactivated their Twitter accounts in response to Elon Musk’s purchase of the social media platform.

In a statement posted to his Instagram, White criticizes Musk, who bought Twitter for a reported $44 billion, for reinstating former president Donald Trump‘s account over the weekend, which was originally suspended for violating the site’s “Glorification of Violence” policy with tweets leading up to the January 6 Capitol attack.

“Absolutely disgusting, Elon,” White writes. “That is officially an a**hole move.”

“Trump was removed from Twitter because he incited violence multiple times, people died and were injured as a result of his lies and his ego, (let alone what his coup did to attempt to destroy democracy and our Capitol),” he continues. “And how about the division and the families broken apart from his rhetoric and what it did to this country?”

Taking aim at Musk’s explanation that he’s reinstalling Trump’s account for “free speech” reasons, White writes “I am a believer in free speech, but for example I’m not about to let the KKK hold a rally at our record label’s performance stage.”

White notes that he never had a personal Twitter account himself, but adds that he’ll be deactivating the account of his label Third Man Records, which has indeed been removed.

Reznor, meanwhile, told The Hollywood Reporter of his plans to “depart” Twitter, saying, “We don’t need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything.”

“Even without [Musk] involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment,” the Nine Inch Nails frontman declared. “For my mental health, I need to tune out. I don’t feel good being there anymore.”

Reznor’s account has since been deactivated, as well.

Bruce Springsteen has another hit record. The Boss moved 39,500 copies of his new covers album, Only the Strong Survive, to debut at eight on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Of those albums moved, 36,500 were in traditional album sales.

Only the Strong Survive is now Bruce’s 22nd top 10 record, landing him at eight for the most top 10 albums and at six for the most among solo artists. The Rolling Stones currently have the most, with 37, followed by Barbra Streisand with 34, and The Beatles and Frank Sinatra, with 32.

Only the Strong Survive has Bruce covering some of his favorite soul songs, including “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do),” “Nightshift,” “Don’t Play That Song” and more. He recently told Rolling Stone that a second volume of covers is on the way and that he has about “three-quarters” of it recorded.

Jordan Davis has plenty to celebrate these days, hot off his Song of the Year win for “Buy Dirt” at the recent CMA Awards.

Even before that, the busy father of two had to get creative to squeeze in a birthday party for his firstborn, Eloise, who turned 3 on November 17.

“It was the only Sunday that I’m gonna be home for the next couple months,” Jordan tells ABC Audio. “So we had that and it was a Frozen-themed party. She dressed up as Princess Elsa and we had a blast.”

“Three’s a fun age!” he adds. “It’s a hard age. But it’s a fun age.”

Next up, he’s headed to New York City to take part in one of America’s most beloved turkey day traditions before enjoying a holiday with all the trimmings with the in-laws.

“Thanksgiving, we’re going over to Kristen‘s family in Virginia,” Jordan explains. “I’m doing the … Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade that morning. Then we’re gonna go to Virginia that afternoon.”

“You know, that’s how we started Thanksgiving every year,” he says of the annual parade. “So it’s like, you know, it’s just cool to think that there’s a lot of people watching. I know my family’s gonna be at home watching it, so it’s gonna be fun.”

Early next year, Jordan will release his new album, Bluebird Days, which features his latest hit, “What My World Spins Around,” as well as his double-Platinum smash “Buy Dirt.”

Billy Talbot says making new Neil Young & Crazy Horse album ‘World Record’ “was a great experience”

Neil Young and his frequent side band Crazy Horse are back with their third new album in three years, World Record, which follows 2019’s Colorado and 2021’s Barn.

The 10-song collection was co-produced by Young and Rick Rubin and recorded at Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu, California.

Founding Crazy Horse bassist Billy Talbot tells ABC Audio that World Record came together in a similar way to most of the albums the band has made with Neil: recorded quickly and live in the studio.

“We didn’t do these songs more than once or twice in the recording of them,” Talbot says. “Once we decided on which way they would be played, electric guitar or organ or acoustic guitar or piano … then we did ’em once or twice and that was it. So … it was a great experience.”

On the new songs, Young touches on such topics as the environment, his wish for a world without war and his love for vintage cars.

“He likes to write about what he’s feeling, you know, lyrically, and then having the melodies and having a good feel,” Talbot says of Young. “And he’s a natural songwriter, like he’s a natural guitar player … He likes to keep it natural and real. [He] doesn’t like to, I guess the word’s pontificate. I mean, when you think things through for too long, they get … kind of lost.”

Talbot says working with Rubin “was great,” noting, “he has a great ear, and he knows when something’s right and when it’s really happened, and when it’s not happening. And so does Neil on that level. So consequently, they were able to really work together and understand when they got the great feel on a song.”

You can order World Record now. Here’s the track list:

“Love Earth”
“Overhead”
“I Walk with You (earth ringtone)”
“This Old Planet (changing days)”
“The World (is in trouble now)”
“Break the Chain”
“The Long Day Before”
“Walkin’ on the Road (to the future)”
“The Wonder Won’t Wait”
“Chevrolet”
“This Old Planet (reprise)”

ABC

The 2022 American Music Awards went down in Los Angeles last night, with Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen the big country winners.

Taylor nabbed two country awards: Favorite Female Country Artist, and Favorite Country Album for Red (Taylor’s Version). These wins, along with several others last night, extend Tay’s record as the most awarded artist in AMA history with 40 wins.

Also winning two awards was Morgan, who nabbed Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song for “Wasted on You.”

The only award handed out on the broadcast was Favorite Country Duo or Group, which went to Dan + Shay.

“We are so grateful to get to make country music,” Shay Mooney shared while accepting the award.  “We are proud to represent our community here. This is unbelievable.” Dan Smyers thanked his musical partner, noting, “I am so glad to make music with you, this is a dream come true to stand on this stage with you and accept this award,” adding to their fans, “we couldn’t do this without you…you change our lives every single day.”

And while Taylor’s win for Favorite Female Country Artist robbed Carrie Underwood of another AMA trophy, that didn’t stop her from wowing the crowd with a performance of her Denim & Rhinestones track “Crazy Angels,” which she began while hanging over the audience in a spherical apparatus.

Also performing last night was Yola, who sang “Break the Bough” for the show’s second annual “Song of the Soul” moment, and Jimmie Allen, who paid tribute to the late Loretta Lynn, performing a bit of her classic “Coal Miner’s Daughter” on guitar.

Taylor Swift‘s new album Midnights has returned to the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 album chart after being temporarily dislodged by Her Loss, the new joint album by Drake and 21 Savage.

Midnights has now been number one for three non-consecutive weeks.  This past week, it sold 204,000 units, making it the first album to sell at least 200,000 units in each of its first four weeks of release since Adele did it in 2015 with 25.

Elsewhere on the chart, former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson debuts at number five with his second solo album, Faith in the Future, which features his latest hit, “Bigger Than Me.” It’s his highest-charting release to date.  His debut, Walls, opened at number nine in 2020.

And it’s worth mentioning that rock legend Bruce Springsteen has scored his 22nd top 10 album with his new album Only the Strong Survive, an album of R&B and soul covers.
