(DALLAS) — A Dallas apartment building has partially collapsed after firefighters were called to investigate a carbon monoxide leak, according to officials.

When firefighters arrived at the South Dallas apartment building around 10:30 a.m. local time, they noticed an odor of gas around the building, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

An explosion occurred while fire crews were investigating the scene, causing the two-story building to partially collapse, officials said.

The fire was producing flames and heavy smoke by 11 a.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans told reporters in a news conference Wednesday afternoon. At least half of the building appeared to be badly damaged and piles of debris from the building could be seen strewn around the structure.

“The damage is extensive,” Evans said. “The collapse itself is extensive.”

Seven people, including at least four firefighters, were injured in the explosion and taken to local hospitals. Two victims are in critical condition; five are in stable condition, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Residents began reporting the smell of gas as early as Tuesday night, Evans said. He did not elaborate on the initial investigation into those reports.

It is unclear what caused the explosion, fire officials said. Additional information was not immediately available.

(WASHINGTON) — An Air Force veteran who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for joining the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol was sentenced Wednesday to 45 days in jail — marking the first misdemeanor plea to lead to jail time for a Jan. 6 rioter who was not held prior to sentencing.

Derek Jancart, who was among members of the pro-Trump mob that entered the Capitol and made it as far as Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s conference room, had pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was not accused of participating in any violence during the riot.

The Justice Department had asked that he be sentenced to four months in jail, more than they have requested for other lower-level misdemeanor defendants. Prosecutors noted Jancart’s former service in the military, saying he “swore an oath to defend the country, and instead participated on an attack against democracy itself.”

Jancart and his attorney countered by asking Judge James Boasberg to instead sentence him to probation.

At Wednesday’s hearing, Jancart apologized to the court for his actions at the Capitol, saying he “didn’t go there to hurt anybody.”

“I did get caught up in the moment … I wish in hindsight I had stayed back,” Jancart told the court.” I love this country and I feel ashamed of my actions.”

The George Washington University Project on Extremism says that 71 of the more than 600 people charged so far in connection with the Capitol attack have claimed to have military experience. Jancart is the first Jan. 6 defendant with military service to be sentenced for joining in the insurrection.

A co-defendant of Jancart’s, Erik Rau, was also sentenced Wednesday to 45 days in jail.

Rau cried as he addressed the court, saying that his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack had taken a toll on his family.

“I am first of all very sorry that you are having to spend your morning having to deal with me,” Rau said. He told the court that “there is no excuse” for his actions during the insurrection.

To date, more than 80 rioters have pleaded guilty to the charges against them, based on a tally by ABC News. Of the seven other defendants sentenced after pleading guilty to misdemeanor offenses, none have been ordered to spend time in jail, with the exception of two sentenced to time served after they received pretrial detention.

In recent hearings, several judges have expressed concern that the Justice Department is not seeking harsh enough punishments for some of those charged in connection with the attack.

The Kanye West/Chris Brown beef has been escalated, as West has completely removed Brown’s vocals from the song “New Again” on his Donda album.

After previously replacing Brown’s lead vocals with his own voice, now Kanye has a choir singing Breezy’s background vocals on the new version of the album streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.

Chris was livid when Yeezy made the first adjustment, calling him a “whole hoe” in a posted and since deleted Instagram Story.

Brown is not the only artist feuding with Kanye about the album. As previously reported, Soulja Boy was ready to get violent when West cut him Donda. The “Crank That” rapper says Kanye loved his verse on the “Remote Control” song, then erased it from the track. Young Thug is now featured on the song.

“I wanna fight. Do u know how to fight? @kanyewest,” Soulja wrote as part of a long Twitter response. “I feel like u a hoe. Let’s get in the ring?”

Draco also got personal, claiming he was intimate with Yeezy’s wife before him: “I was the first rapper wit @KimKardashian not u @kanyewest.”

The Atlanta MC also had a warning for West: “I might diss u everyday for the rest of my life how I’m feeling @kanyewest.”

Get ready to travel “Through the Mists of Time” with AC/DC.

The rock legends are set to premiere the video for the song — a cut off their 2020 comeback album, Power Up — this Thursday, September 30, at 10 a.m. ET.

Judging by a preview clip, the “Through the Mists of Time” video will be living up to its title with references to AC/DC’s history. For example, the beginning features a shot of the cannon from the cover of 1981’s For Those About to Rock We Salute You album.

“Through the Mists of Time” will be the fifth Power Up track to get a video, following lead single “Shot in the Dark,” “Demon Fire,” “Realize” and “Witch’s Spell.”

Power Up, which was released last November, is the first AC/DC album in six years. It reunites the surviving members of the band’s classic Back in Black lineup and pays tribute to founding guitarist Malcolm Young, who died in 2017.

Scotty McCreery soaked up “You Time” with wife Gabi amid pandemic

If Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, had been home together in 2019, he would have never had his fourth number-one hit, with “You Time.” Scotty just spoke out about the song’s success on Instagram, after spending more than a year off the road with his adoring spouse.

“2.5 years ago our lives were as busy as ever,” he wrote. “I was on the road, and you were working at the hospital. For a couple that had just been married, it seemed like we never got to see each other. So on March 6th, 2019 I wrote a song called ‘You Time’ about how I wanted the world to slow down so we could spend more time together (I really didn’t mean for the universe to take that song so literally..).”

While Scotty calls the pandemic “awful,” he’s grateful for the time he and Gabi spent together.

“One of the silver linings has been being able to actually spend every day together so young in our marriage,” he adds. “I never thought we would get that time until we were both retired.”

“You Time” is from Scotty’s new Same Truck album.

Elton John owns homes around the world, but when it came to his latest real-estate purchase, he didn’t have to look too far.

The real-estate website Dirt reports that Elton’s bought the home that’s right next door to his house in Beverly Hills for $8.5 million.  According to Dirt, records show that the 5,300-square-foot, five-bedroom, single-story home, built in the ’60s, has been owned by a non-famous family for decades; they’ve faced foreclosure several times.

Buying the house allows Elton, his husband David Furnish and their two sons to expand from their current half acre to nearly a full acre of space in one of Beverly Hills’ most prestigious neighborhoods. Their current home, purchased nearly 10 years ago for $7.3 million, is 4,300 square feet.

Elton and David also own a huge estate in the U.K., and also have homes in the South of France and Venice, Italy, plus what Dirt calls a “mansion-sized condo” in Atlanta.

Plans have been unveiled for two new archival David Bowie box sets that will be released in the coming months.

One is the fifth installment in the series of expansive collections focusing on different periods in the late rock icon’s career, Brilliant Adventure (1992–2001), which is due out on November 26. The other is an expanded version of Bowie’s legendary unreleased 2001 album TOY, titled TOY (TOY:BOX), which will be issued on January 7, 2022.

Brilliant Adventure will be available as an 11-CD set, a 15-LP vinyl package and digitally. The box set includes remastered editions of five Bowie studio albums — 1993’s Black Tie White Noise, 1993’s The Buddha of Suburbia soundtrack, 1995’s 1.Outside, 1997’s Earthing and 1999’s ‘hours…’.  It also includes the previously unreleased live album BBC Radio Theatre, London, June 27, 2000; the Re:Call 5 compilation, featuring alternative versions, B-sides, soundtrack recordings and more; and the aforementioned TOY.

TOY features updated versions of select early Bowie songs recorded mostly live in the studio with members of his touring band at the time. David had hoped to release the album quickly but when his plan was delayed, he put the project aside and moved on to his next record, Heathen.

TOY (TOY:BOX) will be available as a three-CD set and a six-disc 10-inch vinyl collection. The package will include the originally planned album, alternative mixes of the TOY tracks and tunes intended as B-sides, and stripped-down, mostly acoustic mixes of the songs.

One TOY track, an updated rendition of the 1965 Bowie song “You’ve Got a Habit of Leaving,” has been released as an advance digital single.

You can pre-order Brilliant Adventure (1992–2001) and TOY (TOY:BOX) now. Visit DavidBowie.com for more information.

Daniel Craig‘s latest and last James Bond adventure, No Time to Die, hits theaters October 8, but it’s just been announced that shortly thereafter, he’ll be tackling The Bard on Broadway in William Shakespeare‘s Macbeth.

Craig will be playing the title role opposite Preacher‘s Ruth Negga as his Machiavellian Lady at the historic Lyceum Theatre in New York City starting March 29 of 2022.

According to the play’s website, “A tale of malice, matrimony and murder, Macbeth tells the story of one couple’s obsession with power — and their guilt after doing the unthinkable.” The producers promise, “this thrilling new production will capture the passion and ferocity of Shakespeare’s most haunting text like never before.”

The limited-run engagement ends on July 10 of next year.

The director of the production will be Tony winner Sam Gold, who called the shots on an Off-Broadway production of Othello that starred Craig and acclaimed Selma actor David Oyelowo in the title role.

Tickets are available now at MacbethBroadway.com.

Speaking of the famous play, Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand will be seen on the big screen in The Tragedy of Macbeth on December 25 for Oscar winning director Joel Coen.

Katy Perry on upcoming Las Vegas residency: “Think: Super Bowl, but super-sized”

Katy Perry on upcoming Las Vegas residency: “Think: Super Bowl, but super-sized”
Christine Hahn/Resorts World Las Vegas/Concerts West/AEG Presents

Katy Perry kicks off her first Las Vegas residency, Play, at Resorts World this December, and if you thought her past productions were over-the-top, well, Katy says you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Speaking to Variety, Katy says that the residency will be “Pop on ‘roids,” adding, “It is literally larger than life. Think: Super Bowl, but supersized.”

“This isn’t the next tour, next record, next era. This is an accumulation of everything I’ve been able to offer and the hits and what the people like,” she continues, adding, “It’s going to be big, colorful and it will have a level of humor to it that is probably the weirdest I’ve ever done….Its humor is dark. It’s a little wrong — but a good wrong.”

“I feel like we have the most unique show that a musician has ever brought to Vegas,” Katy concludes.

One reason Katy’s so eager to do Vegas, though, is because it fits so well into her new life as a mom to one-year-old Daisy. “I’m doing 40 shows a year,” she explains. “I’m able to see my baby. I get to take her to school. I’m also going to be able to do a lot of other things. It’s not the world tour, which I will go on eventually again, but it’s great.”

As for new music, Katy says she’s “carving away at my next sculpture,” but notes that what she’s writing “has so much love behind it.”

“That’s the driving force, which is great because I feel like I’ve written a lot from the perspective of yearning and desire and sometimes not feeling like I’m enough,” she explains. “Or I write these empowering songs to help remind myself that I am. Now it’s like a blanket of love. I’m excited.”
