Now that Ed Sheeran‘s new single, “Bad Habits,” has debuted at number one in his native U.K., the superstar say we should get ready to hear a lot more from him.
On Instagram, he writes of his number-one achievement, “I’m absolutely over the moon, and did not expect this start at all. I’ve been away for such a long time that I know it’s gonna take a bit to get back to normal, so was expecting this tune to build as the weeks went on, but to debut so high week one is phenomenal, and something that after a decade in this industry I do not take for granted.”
“Thank you so much for giving this era such a flying start,” Ed adds. “Loads more music on the way soon, but for now I’m gonna crack open a beer and toast to you lot.”
Ed ended his message by saying he’s confident that England’s football team, which has made it to the semi-finals in the European championship, will end up winning the whole thing.
Damian Christian, an executive at Ed’s record label, told Music Week that Ed’s new album will come “later in the year, adding that “Bad Habits” “doesn’t define the whole Ed record.”
“They don’t all go down this route,” Christian says of the album’s songs. “We have got some absolute monsters to come, we can’t wait to get cracking on those as well.” He also reveals that there will be a remix of “Bad Habits” at some point.
Lana Del Rey‘s album Blue Banisters didn’t drop on July 4, as she previously promised, but she did share a sample of her new single — and update fans on the album’s status.
“Album out later later… Single out soonish,” Lana captioned an Instagram post, which included a video clip of the upcoming, as-yet unnamed track. “Have a good fourth x.”
In the clip, Lana appears in a yellow tank top and sweater as she sings the lyrics, “My body is a map of LA / I stand straight like an angel with a halo / Hanging at the Hilton hotel window screaming ‘hey, baby lets go.'”
In a subsequent post, the 36-year-old singer shared the cover art for Blue Banisters, which features her sitting on a wooden deck in a yellow dress with two German Shepherd dogs on either side of her. The caption reads, “TBD.”
After teasing his single “Stay” for weeks, The Kid LAROI is finally releasing it on Friday, along with a video co-starring his duet partner on the track, Justin Bieber. Now he’s posted a teaser for the video, which he refers to as “‘Stay’ The Movie.”
The clip, which seems to feature time-freeze special effects, features both artists singing together in what looks like a train station, plus shots of Justin standing on top of a building and LAROI running down a city street.
“Oh, I’ll be f**ked up, if you can’t be right here/I do the same thing I told you that I never would/I told you I’d change, even when I knew I never could,” LAROI sings. “I know that I can’t find nobody else as good as you/I need you to stay, need you to stay.”
This is the second collab for the two artists, following LAROI’s feature on Justin’s song “Unstable” from his album JUSTICE.
Doja Cat‘s latest album, Planet Her, shot the singer into space — the space just shy of the top of the Billboard album chart.
The singer’s new release debuts at number two on the Billboard 200 with 109,000 units sold. It’s Doja’s best sales week, and the album is her highest-charting release yet, besting the number-nine peak of her previous album, Hot Pink.
Planet Her features guest appearances by SZA, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, among others.
Meanwhile, Tyler, the Creator‘s latest album, Call Me If You Get Lost, debuts at number one on the chart. Justin Bieber‘s JUSTICE returns to the top 10, jumping from #14 to #10. That was due to a 20% sales hike thanks to the album’s vinyl release on June 25.
The rest of the top 10 features the latest albums from Olivia Rodrigo, Migos, Lil Baby and Lil Durk, Polo G, Bo Burnham, Dua Lipa and Morgan Wallen.

At least 32 people, including three children, have been confirmed dead and 113 others remain unaccounted for since a 12-story residential building partially collapsed in South Florida’s Miami-Dade County last month.
Four more bodies were recovered, officials announced Tuesday morning.
The partial collapse occurred around 1:15 a.m. on June 24 at the Champlain Towers South condominium in the small, beachside town of Surfside, about 6 miles north of Miami Beach. Approximately 55 of the oceanfront complex’s 136 units were destroyed, according to officials. Since then, hundreds of first responders have been carefully combing through the pancaked layers of debris in hopes of finding survivors.
The part of the building that remained standing was cleared of any people or pets before it was demolished on Sunday night, due to concerns about its structural integrity. However, it was too dangerous for surviving residents to enter the building to retrieve their belongings, officials said.
“Obviously it wasn’t worth that risk,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a press conference in Surfside on Monday. “We cannot lose any more people.”
The massive search and rescue mission is now in its 13th day, as teams are able to operate at full capacity and search in areas that were previously inaccessible. At least four more bodies have been recovered from the wreckage since the demolition.
“The heavy equipment is now able to move around the site as needed,” Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett said at the press conference. “The looming threat of that building, the dangerous situation where debris could fall down is now eliminated.”
Burkett told reporters that the search and rescue operation will continue 24 hours a day until everyone is pulled from the rubble. But the hope that more people would be found alive appeared to be fading, as no survivors have been discovered in the debris since the morning of the partial collapse. Among those recently found dead was the 7-year-old daughter of a Miami firefighter.
Meanwhile, 190 people who were living or staying in the condominium at the time of the disaster have been accounted for and are safe, according to Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who has stressed that the figures are “very fluid.”
Video released by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue on Monday night showed crews working atop the pile, braving the elements as Tropical Storm Elsa approached the Sunshine State.
The incoming storm, which has weakened from a hurricane, initiated the discussion about demolishing the rest of the building and fast-tracked the process, according to Burkett. Elsa made landfall in Cuba on Monday and by Tuesday morning, the storm’s center was moving through Key West with maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
The cause of the partial collapse to a building that has withstood decades of hurricanes remains unknown and is under investigation.
Built in the 1980s, the Champlain Towers South was up for its 40-year recertification and had been undergoing roof work — with more renovations planned — when it partially collapsed, according to officials.
A structural field survey report from October 2018, which was among hundreds of pages of public documents released by the town of Surfside late Sunday, said the waterproofing below the condominium’s pool deck and entrance drive was failing and causing “major structural damage to the concrete structural slab below these areas.”
A slew of lawsuits against the Champlain Towers South Condo Association have already been filed on behalf of survivors and victims, alleging the partial collapse could have been avoided and that the association knew or should have known about the structural damage. A spokesperson for the association told ABC News they cannot comment on pending litigation but that their “focus remains on caring for our friends and neighbors during this difficult time.”
The association’s board released a statement last Friday saying its surviving members “have concluded that, in the best interest of all concerned parties, an independent Receiver should be appointed to oversee the legal and claims process.”
“We know that answers will take time as part of a comprehensive investigation,” the statement continued, “and we will continue to work with city, state, local, and federal officials in their rescue efforts, and to understand the causes of this tragedy.”
(NOTE LANGUAGE) Florence Pugh doesn’t care if you don’t like her or her relationship with Zach Braff.
Speaking with the U.K. newspaper The Times in a piece published Sunday, the Black Widow star opened up about the criticism and bullying she receives from people who apparently don’t understand her relationship with Braff, who’s 21 years older than the 25-year-old actress.
“It’s my life,” Pugh said, according to BuzzFeed News. “And I’m not doing anything to please people or to make it a better headline or story.”
She added, “I want to also be a person!”
The Black Widow star also addressed the bullying she’s dealt with on Instagram as a result of her romance with the Scrubs actor.
“It’s so weird to me to go on to someone’s page and s*** on it,” she shared. “That’s so not my nature — to go and bully for the sake of bullying. It’s such an odd thing that we’ve become OK with in the past 10 years of social media.”
“The thing is, people want Instagram to be a nicer place,” she continued. “They want to see nice things. They want to be inspired and they want to be happy.”
“I don’t mind you not liking me,” she concluded. “That’s absolutely fine. In which case, don’t follow me.”
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello sweetly marked their second dating anniversary over the weekend by sharing never-before-seen photos with fans on Instagram.
Camila shared a series of photos of the two enjoying a beachy vacation and gushed in the caption, “happy anniversary Kuko [heart emoji] here’s to more joy, more friendship, and more love.”
Included in the sweet slideshow are photos of the two trying to eat a slice of watermelon at the same time and making funny faces at the camera.
The next day, the Cinderella star shared another collection of photos and videos of their recent trip, captioning it “The best of vibes.”
As for Shawn, the “Stitches” singer posted a tender photo of the two sharing a kiss on the beach.
Tagging the location as “The Caribbean Islands,” Shawn wrote in the caption, “Happy 2 years my baby.”
Shawn, 22, and Camila, 24, first met in 2015 and collaborated on the top 20 hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”

Following Britney Spears‘s bombshell testimony over her controversial conservatorship, the “Toxic” singer’s longtime manager has resigned.
In a letter of resignation obtained by Deadline, Larry Rudolph explained why he wanted to step down from his role, which he’s held since 1995.
“It has been over 2 1/2 years since Britney and I last communicated, at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus,” wrote Rudolph, noting he recently became aware of Britney’s “intention to officially retire.”
He continued, “As you know, I have never been a part of the conservatorship nor its operations, so I am not privy to many of these details. I was originally hired at Britney’s request to help manage and assist her with her career. And as her manager, I believe it is in Britney’s best interest for me to resign from her team, as my professional services are no longer needed.”
The letter, addressed to Britney’s co-executors of her conservatorship — James Spears and Jodi Montgomery — ended with Rudolph’s request to resign as manager.
“I will always be incredibly proud of what we accomplished over our 25 years together,” he expressed. “I wish Britney all the health and happiness in the world, and I’ll be there for her if she ever needs me again, just as I always have been.”
Britney pleaded with a judge last month to end her 13-year conservatorship, claiming that it is “abusive” and is “doing me way more harm than good.” Her attorney, Samuel Ingham III, previously told the court that his client wouldn’t perform as long as her father had control over her estate.
Last week, Judge Brenda Penny, who heard Britney’s testimony, denied the star’s request to remove her father from her conservatorship.
Matthew McConaughey issued an inspiring and encouraging speech marking the Fourth of July.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the Oscar-winning actor celebrated America’s birthday in a heartfelt message about the state of the country.
“Let’s admit that this last year — this trip around the sun — was also another head-scratcher,” said McConaughey, 51. “But let’s also remember that we are babies, you know, as a country.”
“We’re basically going through puberty in comparison to other countries’ timeline, and we’re going to go through growing pains. We are going through growing pains,” McConaughey continued. “This is not an excuse, to say, this is just the reality.”
McConaughey looked on the bright side of the country’s relatively young age and explained that he views it as an opportunity to grow and learn from the past.
“This is good,” he said. “We gotta keep learning, we gotta keep maturing, we gotta keep striving, we gotta keep climbing, we gotta keep building.” The only way to do that, said McConaughey, is to “maintain hope along the way, as we continue to evolve… Because the alternative sucks.”
“I believe in America,” McConaughey declared. “We’re constantly in motion, we’re on the way trying to get wiser, trying to get braver, trying to dream more, trying to do more, trying to be more fair — take the right kind of responsibilities to gain the right kind of freedoms.”
McConaughey noted people need to be “appreciative and supportive” of the nation’s collective triumphs and evolution, stressing, “We are all in this together.”
“[We’re] on the way to being the best we can be,” he closed. “Why? Because that’s who we are.”
It’s official: F9 is the biggest movie to come out of the pandemic. The latest installment in the Fast & Furious franchise raced past the $500 million mark during the holiday weekend, leaving its competition in the dust.
F9, which opened in the U.S. June 25, grossed an additional $30 million across 4,203 American theaters over the long July 4th weekend, boosting its global numbers past the half-billion-dollar mark. The movie is currently the only American film to earn more than $500 million globally since 2019.
Coming in second is the animated newcomer The Boss Baby: Family Business, which earned $20 million in its opening weekend. The movie stars Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Sedaris and James Marsden.
Universal Studios cleaned house this weekend, claiming the top three spots in the holiday box office roundup, with its other newcomer, The Forever Purge, coming in third, with $15.6 million. The movie is the fifth and, reportedly, final film of The Purge franchise.
Dropping to fourth with $5 million in its sixth week of release is Paramount’s A Quiet Place Part II. The thriller is only another five million away from crossing the $150 million mark in domestic ticket sales.
Rounding out the top five is the Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson action-comedy sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, which drew in another $3.9 million in its third week of release.
