Bastille has announced an expanded version of the band’s latest album, Give Me the Future.

Dubbed Give Me the Future + Dreams of the Past, the collection includes new songs and reprises in an effort to give a more “complete picture” of Bastille’s intention with the original record.

“You can dive into the ideas of the future and an electronic world, or you can fall back into the past — away from technology and into ideas of memory and nostalgia — both thematically and musically,” says frontman Dan Smith. “Or you can choose full-on dancefloor heartbreak escape.”

Give Me the Future + Dreams of the Past is due out August 26. It also includes the latest edition of Bastille’s Other People’s Heartache mixtape series, which includes various collaborations and a cover of Bruce Springsteen‘s “Dancing in the Dark.”

You can listen to a new Dreams of the Past track called “Revolution” now via digital outlets.

Give Me the Future was first released in February. It includes the singles “Distorted Light Beam,” “No Bad Days” and “Shut Off the Lights.”

Earlier this month, country-rock pioneer Richie Furay, who co-founded Buffalo Springfield and Poco, released his latest solo album, the country covers collection In the Country.

The 12-track album mainly features renditions of major country hits, while also including some noteworthy crossover tunes, like Marc Cohn‘s “Walking in Memphis” and John Denver‘s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

Furay tells ABC Audio the album came about after he reconnected with producer Val Garay, who produced his 1979 album, I Still Have Dreams.

Furay says Val suggested they do a country hits project. They both came up with lists of tunes, which they narrowed down to include chart-toppers from Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Lonestar, Alabama and Lee Ann Womack.

“Most of ’em were big hits … [but] I don’t want people to listen to this record and do comparisons,” Furay insists. “I just want ’em to sit back, ’cause, man, we just need music today … that people can just get lost in, and just say, ‘Wow, that’s just good sounding music.'”

Furay recorded the album in Nashville with talented session musicians. He also brought in some guests to contribute backing vocals, including his former Poco bandmate, longtime Eagles bassist Timothy B. Schmit.

Furay says of Schmit, who appears on multiple tracks, “He’s just a dear friend … whenever I ask Timothy if he wants to come and be a part of a record … if he’s got the time … he’s always there.”

Schmit also connected Furay with current Eagles touring member Vince Gill, who sings on a cover of the 1958 Ricky Nelson hit “Lonesome Town.”

Furay says working with Gill “was really a thrill and a blessing for me … He’s such a great, talented guy.”

Here’s In the Country‘s full track list:

“Somebody Like You” (Keith Urban)
“I Hope You Dance” (Lee Ann Womack)
“Take Me Home, Country Roads” (John Denver)
“She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful” (Sammy Kershw)
“Your Love Amazes Me” (John Berry)
“I’m in a Hurry (And Don’t Know Why)” (Alabama)
“Lonesome Town” (Ricky Nelson)
“Walking in Memphis” (Marc Cohn)
“I’m Already There” (Lonestar)
“The River” (Garth Brooks)
“In This Life” (Collin Raye)
“Chalk” (Buddy & Julie Miller)

Digital Bonus Tracks:
“I Cross My Heart” (George Strait)
“Pickin’ Up the Pieces” (Poco)

Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, took the family on vacation this week, and once again, their two adorable tots are at the center of all the fun.

On Instagram, Brittany shared a carousel of photos and videos from the family’s time in Utah. One video shows four-year-old Memphis and three-year-old Navy excitedly “excavating” at a gem mining facility.

“I’m finding treasure, real treasure,” Memphis tells the camera in the clip as his little sister stays quietly focused behind him. “Look what I’m finding. I see a lot of treasure.”

Other shots show the kids at a ropes adventure facility, with Memphis cheering on Navy as she braves the climbing course. Another snap shows the whole family — including mom and dad — getting ice cream together.

The grownups had fun in Utah, too: “Utah has me all in my feelings!” Brittany wrote in the caption of her post. “So happy to be here.”

Jason and Brittany often share snapshots of their family lives — and luxurious vacation destinations — with their fans. The country star couple recently bought a new home in Florida.

Eight years later, Usher is reflecting on Confessions.

The 2004 album was a staple among fans when it dropped. However, critics didn’t review the project as highly, something the R&B singer chalks it up to it being new territory at the time.

“I feel it was partially on the story that we were telling and people getting acclimated to this new artist and having respect for or understanding of what it was for the guys who grew up with the Princes, the Michael Jacksons, the Whispers, the Isley Brothers, and the Luther Vandrosses,” Usher explained in an interview with Vulture. “They were looking at a new frontier.”

Ultimately, though, the “Yeah!” singer believes “things happen the way they’re supposed to.”

“Maybe this is the time when we look back and we begin to understand it the same way that as a kid I was influenced by music that I didn’t participate in,” he continued. “I wasn’t there for [Michael Jackson’s] Off the Wall. I wasn’t there for [Marvin Gaye‘s] What’s Going On. I wasn’t there for Donny Hathaway albums. But I could find them because there was a space to be able to hear them.”

Usher added that while he wishes that critics “celebrated” his work at the time, “It’s okay that they didn’t because it made me work harder.”

Shakira has opted to be tried by Spanish prosecutors over allegations of tax fraud in Spain, her public relations team said Wednesday.

The 45-year-old Colombian singer rejected a plea deal offered by the Spanish authorities and wants to prove her innocence in court, according to her lawyers.

Shakira “trusts her innocence and chooses to leave the issue in the hands of the law,” the PR firm Llorente y Cuenca said in a statement obtained by ABC News.

In 2018, Spanish prosecutors charged the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer with failing to pay €14.5 million — the equivalent of $14,797,250 U.S. — in taxes on income she earned between 2012 and 2014.

If found guilty she could face a fine and/or prison time. The court has not set a date for the trial.

Britney Spears scored another victory Wednesday when a judge ruled she will not have to sit for a deposition in her conservatorship case, ABC News has learned.

After a heated argument between the pop star’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, and Britney’s father, Jamie Spears‘ lawyer Alex Weingarten, Los Angeles Judge Brenda Penny stood by her motion that Britney would not have to be deposed.

Earlier this month, Judge Penny ruled that Jamie must sit for a deposition in response to Britney’s accusations he hired a security firm that put his daughter under surveillance throughout her conservatorship, monitored her phone and bugged her bedroom to record her private conversations.

The next hearing is scheduled for August 24.

Trisha Yearwood is celebrating the one-year anniversary of Dottie’s Yard, her non-profit fund dedicated to shelter dogs and cats, this week.

The country singer named her fund after one rescue dog in particular: Dottie, who spent 14 years with Trisha and her husband, fellow country star Garth Brooks, before her death. To honor Dottie’s memory, Trisha started the fund to support shelter pets and spearhead rescue efforts across the country.

On Wednesday, Trisha hopped on TalkShopLive to celebrate Dottie’s Yard’s anniversary and raise money for the cause with new sweatshirts from her Trisha Yearwood Pet Collection.

“Dottie was the ultimate rescue who showed up and changed everybody’s lives on our farm,” Trisha reflects. As a tribute to her, the singer’s organization is raising money to be dispersed across 27 shelters nationwide, in partnership with the Empty the Shelters adoption event campaign.

David Lee Roth has posted a previously unreleased solo song at his official website and YouTube channel called “Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway” that finds the Van Halen frontman reminiscing about his old band.

Accompanying the track is a vintage photo of Roth and his three Van Halen band mates all jumping in the air at the same time. The stripped-down tune features multi-tracked acoustic guitars and sparse keyboards accompanying Roth’s vocals.

The song begins with the lines, “We laughed, we cried, we threw that television off the balcony/ That memory means so much to me,” and Diamond Dave sings later, “Remember when you safety pinned the tablecloth to my pants/ And I stood up to the sound of dancing, and the sound of our romance beginning.”

According to the fan site Van Halen News Desk, Roth recorded “Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway” several years ago with current Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 during the same sessions that yielded some of the other tracks Dave has released over the past couple years, including “Somewhere over the Rainbow Bar and Grill,” “Giddy-Up!,” “Low-Rez Sunset” and “Pointing at the Moon.”

In a 2021 interview with AL.com, John 5 mentioned “Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway” while discussing his sessions with Roth.

“Being a Van Halen fan and a Dave Lee Roth fan, it’s unbelievable because it’s about Dave singing about Van Halen and what it was like,” the guitarist noted. “Really something special, so I really hope that comes out.”

Brothers Osborne explain how CMA Fest helps them grow their career each year: “It really is like a snapshot”
ABC

If you’re wondering what to expect from Brothers Osborne’s performance on the CMA Fest TV special, the bandmates have a little hint to share.

“We were allowed to bring a prop from our live shows. Actually, two props,” says one-half of the band, John Osborne. “Without giving anything away — keep your eyes peeled for that. Props. Yeah.”

The special will feature the brother duo playing “Skeletons,” the title track from their latest album, on the big stadium stage. For Brothers Osborne, taking the main stage for their performance is a reminder of how far they’ve come, especially compared to the CMA Fests they played at the outset of their career.

“We’ve been playing it for a long time,” says TJ Osborne. “We’ve played these small little stages, sometimes three or four of them in a single day…labels got to see us, publishers got to see us, and then [we got to] make some fans.”

It’s a lot of work to build a grassroots fanbase like that, but the Brothers wouldn’t have it any other way. “Now to be here, playing the stadium, it really is like a snapshot — these different stages we would play and grow in,” TJ continues.

“It really puts into perspective, you know, what hard work can do,” he adds, “but also having these opportunities, how incredibly helpful they are.”

The CMA Fest special was filmed during the annual festival in downtown Nashville in June. Dierks Bentley and Elle King are hosting the show, which airs on August 3 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. It will also be available to watch on Hulu the next day.
