Fitz and the Tantrums have released a new single called “Sway.”
“Since the beginning, we’ve always set out to get people up on their feet, smiling and dancing when they hear our music,” says frontman Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick. “‘Sway’ felt like it had that special sauce when we were making it in the studio, and we’re already seeing the song work its magic when we play it live.”
You can listen to “Sway” now via digital outlets and watch its accompanying video streaming now on YouTube.
“Sway” is the first new song from Fitz and the Tantrums to follow the group’s 2019 album, All the Feels. Since then, Fitzpatrick released his debut solo album, Head Up High, in 2021.
Fitz and the Tantrums is currently on tour with St. Paul & the Broken Bones. They’ll launch a run with Andy Grammer in July.
Britney Spears‘ wedding Thursday was quite the throwback moment for one of the guests: Britney’s pal Madonna.
As People reports, during the event at Britney’s home in Thousand Oaks, California, Britney and Madonna recreated their famous 2003 smooch at the MTV Video Music Awards, which scandalized the nation at the time. People has the photo, which seems to have been taken at the reception: it shows Britney, in a tight red Versace dress, smooching Madonna, who’s wearing a multicolored wrap dress.
But that wasn’t the only nostalgic moment at the wedding: Page Six has video of Britney and wedding guests Paris Hilton, Donatella Versace, Selena Gomez and Drew Barrymore attempting to perform Madonna’s hit “Vogue” while Madonna stands with them, reciting the lyrics.
The women awkwardly stand together as they chant, “Fellas that were in the mood / Don’t just stand there, let’s get to it / Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it / Vogue.”
Britney and her longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Britney’s home nine months after announcing their engagement. Ahead of the ceremony, Britney’s first husband, Jason Alexander, allegedly tried to crash the wedding; police ended up arresting him for an out-of-county warrant.
Demi Lovato opened up about what “Skin of My Teeth” is about and why they wrote it in the first place.
Speaking to Billboard, the Grammy nominee explained they wrote that song in mid-January because they were tired of reading headlines mocking their addiction struggles.
“What happened was, you know, I did go back to treatment, and when I came out, I saw all of these headlines that were like, ‘Demi leaves treatment again!’ And I’m like, ‘F*** you, I’m going to write a song about that, and I’m putting that headline in the first line,'” they recalled.
News broke in early January that the singer privately underwent treatment to maintain their ongoing sobriety journey, following their near-fatal overdose in 2018. The news came a few weeks after Demi revealed in December that they cut alcohol and marijuana completely out of their life because they “no longer support my ‘California sober’ ways.”
Demi said of that time in their life, “So it just was owning my narrative — owning the fact that this is my story, and I’m going to tell it, and I don’t need anyone else to tell it. And in doing so, I think it made an anthem for people who struggle with addiction.”
The “Anyone” singer also teased their forthcoming album, HOLY F***, which comes out August 19. When asked if there are more songs like “Skin of My Teeth” on there, Demi said, “You’ll have to listen to the album to really get the feel.”
They added of their album, “I would say it’s rock, and then that it branches into different categories of rock. One song on there feels almost a little Southern rock, but I have songs that feel more hardcore than what people may be expecting of me.”
Rage Against the Machine has shared a clip from a recent rehearsal for the band’s upcoming reunion tour.
The 30-second clip was recorded on June 7 and finds the rap-metal outfit raging through a rendition of The Battle of Los Angeles closer “War Within a Breath.”
You can listen for yourself now via Rage’s Instagram.
Rage Against the Machine announced they were getting back together at the end of 2019, ending an eight-year hiatus. They’d planned a reunion tour for 2020, which, of course, got pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Two years later, the outing is finally set to launch July 9 in East Troy, Wisconsin.
Carrie Underwood’s new album, Denim & Rhinestones, showcases her love of all kinds of genres — including rock.
It’s no secret that Carrie’s always been a big rock fan. She’s shared the stage with legends like Axl Rose and Joan Jett, and she embraces her rock side once again with her new song “Poor Everybody Else.”
“I feel like at this point, all my fans know I have a huge love of rock music,” Carrie says in a new interview with Kelleigh Bannen for Today’s Country Radio With Kelleigh Bannen on Apple Music Country.
Carrie’s rock fandom dates back to her childhood, when she learned it from her older sisters. “They controlled the radio when I was 5 years old,” she notes. She also remembers being a “dance monkey” who performed on command for her teenage sisters.
“They thought it was funny for me to sing, like, ‘Smokin’ in the Boys’ Room’ [by Mötley Crue] as a 3-year-old, so I did,” she remembers. As the baby of the family, Carrie used to accompany her teenage sisters everywhere.
“And I was entertainment. I was dance monkey,” she continues. “I was dance monkey for their friends.”
Bastille has premiered a new song called “Remind Me.”
The track follows the “Pompeii” outfit’s album Give Me the Future, which was just released in February. As frontman Dan Smithexplains, the origins for “Remind Me” date back to the early days of the Give Me the Future writing sessions.
“We’d been diving into a bunch of music from the ’80s that had sounded futuristic at the time, so it fits with the ideas of the past’s versions of the future that we explore across the album,” Smith shares. “This song was like a jumping off point for us a couple of years ago and helped shape the sonic tone of the whole GMTF album.”
“Remind Me” is available now via digital outlets. Its accompanying, appropriately futuristic video is streaming now on YouTube.
Bastille is currently touring the U.S. in support of Give Me the Future. The run continues Friday in Detroit.
“It’s all happening,” Kid Cudi says of the new song he dropped Friday, called “Do What I Want.”
He previewed the new single earlier this week by sharing a teaser of his upcoming Netflix animated music TV series, Entergalactic — a project he says is his “greatest achievement.”
“World … I have been waiting 3 long years for you all to see what I’ve been working on all this time,” the rapper wrote of Entergalactic on Instagram. “This project will move you, it will take your heart places and make you fall in love again. I am so proud of every single person involved who helped bring my vision to life.
Cudi and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris serves as executive producers of Entergalatic, which is produced by their respective media companies, Mad Solar and Khalabo Ink Society.
“Do What I Want” precedes the Grammy-winning rapper’s eighth studio album, which is expected this fall along with the release of the Netflix series.
Halsey has responded to their former nanny’s lawsuit that claims she was wrongfully terminated for seeking medical leave. The Grammy winner says the allegation is baseless.
Peoplereports that the nanny, identified as Ashley Funches, filed suit against her former employer and states she was fired after requesting to take time off so she could recover from an upcoming medical procedure. Funches further alleges she had “worked around the clock on consecutive days with little to no day of rest” since she began working for the singer and complained in October 2021 of not being paid for overtime.
Funches said the singer furnished a one-time payment of $5,000 for overtime, but she was “offered no explanation as to how the lump sum payment compensated [for] all of her overtime hours to date.”
Halsey has since responded to the suit and claimed Funches was let go because of “specific incidents.” One such incident, said Halsey, was when their 1-year-old son, Ender, was left “unsupervised in an unsafe location while under the nanny’s care.”
“Consequently, while Halsey is both saddened and disappointed by this turn of events, they feel it is important to refute these allegations publicly, as they are vocal advocate against ableism and for ethical working conditions,” the statement continued.
Funches has not responded to her former employer’s remarks.
Chris Lane and Lauren Alaina join forces Friday for a revamped duet arrangement of “Dancin’ in the Moonlight.”
The new version throws it back to King Harvest’s hit version of “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” from the early ‘70s, but takes lots of liberties to create a new, country-pop version of the track that Chris says is the perfect summer anthem.
“The first time I heard this take on ‘Dancin’ in the Moonlight,’ it was a demo I kept listening to on repeat,” he says in a statement. “It sounds like summer to me and feels like the kind of song you wanna put on when you’re on the boat, at a bonfire, grilling or hanging with the people you love.”
Chris also sings the praises of his duet partner, his “second-favorite Lauren” — his first, of course, is his wife, Lauren Bushnell — and his fellow country star agrees that she loved being a part of this tribute to a beloved song.
“The original is one of those songs that lives on for many generations. Everyone knows the original,” she elaborates. “I am excited to be a part of a new take on such an impactful and iconic song.”
She adds, “I love the way it turned out. It’s an added bonus that I get to sing it with my buddy Chris Lane.”
The country star pals have even more fun with the new music video for the song, which follows them throughout the decades as they dress up in styles that honor the 1920s, the 1950s, the 1970s and the modern era. From Lauren’s ’20s-style flapper dress to Chris’ ’50s-era leather jacket and slicked back hair, the two stars dance their way through the decades, ending up in their real-life looks.
