Chris Lane + Lauren Alaina get all glammed up for decade-hopping “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” cover

Big Loud Records

Chris Lane and Lauren Alaina join forces Friday for a revamped duet arrangement of “Dancin’ in the Moonlight.”

The new version throws it back to King Harvest’s hit version of “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” from the early ‘70s, but takes lots of liberties to create a new, country-pop version of the track that Chris says is the perfect summer anthem.

“The first time I heard this take on ‘Dancin’ in the Moonlight,’ it was a demo I kept listening to on repeat,” he says in a statement. “It sounds like summer to me and feels like the kind of song you wanna put on when you’re on the boat, at a bonfire, grilling or hanging with the people you love.”

Chris also sings the praises of his duet partner, his “second-favorite Lauren” — his first, of course, is his wife, Lauren Bushnell — and his fellow country star agrees that she loved being a part of this tribute to a beloved song.

“The original is one of those songs that lives on for many generations. Everyone knows the original,” she elaborates. “I am excited to be a part of a new take on such an impactful and iconic song.”

She adds, “I love the way it turned out. It’s an added bonus that I get to sing it with my buddy Chris Lane.”

The country star pals have even more fun with the new music video for the song, which follows them throughout the decades as they dress up in styles that honor the 1920s, the 1950s, the 1970s and the modern era. From Lauren’s ’20s-style flapper dress to Chris’ ’50s-era leather jacket and slicked back hair, the two stars dance their way through the decades, ending up in their real-life looks.
