Kinks guitarist Dave Davies has written a new autobiography titled Living on a Thin Line that’s scheduled to be released on July 7, 2022, in hardcover and e-book editions.

According to TheBookseller.com, the memoir will feature Dave’s recollections and anecdotes about The Kinks’ heyday, his turbulent relationship with his brother Ray — the band’s lead singer and main songwriter — the group’s legacy and much more.

The book also will include stories about Dave crossing paths with various other music legends, among them John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix.

“I’ve had a laugh, and shed quite a few tears, thinking back over the last six decades since The Kinks had our first hit in 1964 with ‘You Really Got Me,'” says Dave in a statement. “Here are the ups and downs of my life in The Kinks and what happened afterwards. Prepare to be amazed and, I hope, surprised.”

Editor Richard Roper, who acquired the rights to Davies’ book for the Headline Publishing Group, states, “Dave is hands-down one of the greatest musicians to pick up a guitar. His fans will absolutely adore it.”

Dave previously published a memoir titled Kink in 1996, but a post on his Instagram page reports that Living on a Thin Line “is ALL NEW WRITING never before seen in his previous autobiography — a completely new book to enjoy.”

You can pre-order the upcoming book now.

A judge upheld the assault charges against Tory Lanez, who is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion‘s feet.

Lanez, who’s real name is Daystar Peterson, is facing assault and weapons possession charges in connection to the July 2020 incident.

During the preliminary hearing on Tuesday, new details emerged, with LAPD Detective Ryan Stogner testifying that Megan, 26, said the 29-year-old “Say It” rapper shouted “Dance, b****!” before shooting her in the feet, according to the LA Times

Stogner also stated that, according to the “WAP” rapper, Lanez “offered her money and begged her to please not say anything” and made “a reference to the fact he was already on probation.”

When it comes to Lanez’s defense, an LA Times reporter stated on Twitter, “In a preview of a possible defense during today’s prelim, Peterson’s attorney seemed to be hinting that another person in the car (a friend of Megan Thee Stallion) may have actually pulled the trigger.”

Lanez is due back in court on January 13. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison.

KISS bassist/singer Gene Simmons says a museum celebrating his famous band currently is being built in Las Vegas at the Rio hotel and casino, which already houses the KISS by Monster Mini Golf attraction.

In a recent phone interview, Simmons told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he expects the museum to open by March 2022.

“[It] is really just my collection, because I’ve got a half-century of KISS stuff,” Simmons he revealed to the newspaper. “I want the fans to see it.”

According to the paper, the museum will be connected to a planned 15,000-square-foot KISS-themed space that includes the mini golf course.

“It’s going to be breathtaking,” Simmons declared. “We have three tractor-trailers full of stuff, and it’s going to be spectacular. The fans are going to dig it. You can play golf, you can have your photo taken, you can take videos of yourself onstage with KISS, and then go visit my private collection.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer said that “hundreds and hundreds” of items will be on display, including costumes, stage props, gold and platinum albums and much more.

Meanwhile, Simmons also said he’s hoping to reschedule KISS’ recently canceled Las Vegas residency at Zappos Theater, which was to have run from late December of this year through early February 2022.

Gene explained that he wanted to reschedule the shows in six months or a year, when there aren’t as many artists performing in Vegas.

“With all due respect to other all the other artists who are terrific, and who are great and iconic, we’d rather wait for the traffic to die down and bring the best show on Earth, period,” Simmons told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Mammoth WVH and Dirty Honey may have some new tunes holstered for their upcoming Young Guns tour.

Speaking with ABC Audio, both Mammoth’s Wolfgang Van Halen and Dirty Honey’s Marc LaBelle reveal that they plan to work on fresh material ahead of the co-headlining outing, which kicks off in January.

“I’ve seen people online [saying], ‘Oh, this is gonna be my third Mammoth show!'” Van Halen says. “And it’s, like, ‘Well, s***, we better play some new stuff!'”

Wolf, who released the debut Mammoth album this past June, adds that he’s been “looking forward to getting in the studio,” and he already has “a bunch of fully realized ideas.”

“I think why not throw one or two of them in the set every night to kind of have that little mini audition in the middle of there to gauge on crowd reaction, if it’s worth it,” he says.

LaBelle, meanwhile, feels he and his band mates are “just now starting to get into that writing phase” to follow Dirty Honey’s first full-length, which dropped in April.

“It just feels like the right time to be writing,” LaBelle says. “We’re gonna be exploring ideas the next couple months here before we go out.”

LaBelle adds that he feels the road is a great place to workshop new stuff.

“One of the most productive spots to write in is at soundcheck when all your stuff is set up at a venue and you can really get a sense for how a song is gonna go over at a venue,” he says. “I think that’s really a priceless thing of being on tour, is having that opportunity.”

The Young Guns tour launches January 18 in Philadelphia.

Harry Styles sold the most concert tickets of anyone in the world this year

2021 was the year that many artists returned to the road, and Pollstar has crunched the numbers and come up with a list of the most successful tours of the past year.  Purely based on the number of tickets sold, Harry Styles is the king.

Harry’s Love on Tour trek sold 669,051 tickets this year, which means he’s number one on Pollstar’s Worldwide Ticket Sales ranking. The rest of the top 10 includes legends like The Rolling Stones and Dead & Company, country stars like Luke Bryan, plus Jonas Brothers and Alanis MorissetteMaroon 5 came in at #11.

However, Harry didn’t have the highest-grossing tour of the year, because of course, artists charge different prices for tickets and play different numbers of shows. His Love on Trek tour grossed $86.7 million over 39 shows, which was good enough for second place.

The Rolling Stones‘ No Filter Tour of the U.S. was by far the highest-grossing trek in the world this year, raking in $115.5 million over just 12 concerts that were eligible for consideration.

Besides Harry, the only other current pop act in the top 10 on that list is Jonas Brothers, whose Remember This tour earned $42.5 million. The rest of the list is made up of veteran artists like The Eagles, Dave Matthews Band, Guns N’ Roses and Weezer, Green Day and Fall Out Boy, who all teamed up for the joint Hella Mega Tour.

Here’s the full list of Pollstar‘s Top 10 2019 North American Tours, ranked by gross receipts:

1. The Rolling Stones — $115.5 million, 516,624 tickets sold
2. Harry Styles — $86.7 million, 669,051 tickets sold
3. “The Hella Mega Tour” — $67.3 million, 659,062 tickets sold
4. Eagles — $59.2 million, 257,584 tickets sold
5. Dead & Company — $50.2 million, 588,658 tickets sold

Mariah Carey opens up about parenting her children: “I don’t like being the bad guy”

Mariah Carey may be in Christmas mode, but she’s a mother first and foremost, and opened up in a new interview about how she keeps her 10-year-old twins grounded.

Speaking to Us Magazine, the “Fantasy” singer shared how she parents Moroccan and Monroe, whom she shares with her ex, Nick Cannon.

“I’m going to have to quote Mean Girls and be, like, ‘I’m not a regular mom. I’m a cool mom.’ There are no rules in this house… No, there are rules in this house, that’s the difference,” she said.

Mariah says she can’t be the cool mom because she sometimes has to assert her authority over her little ones. “I don’t like being the bad guy, I have to say. I really don’t, like, I hate that more than anything. So, you know, I do want to be, like, ‘I’m not really a mom, I’m a cool mom.’ But you’re never a cool mom, like, you just never are,” she declared.

The Grammy winner also said part of parenting means helping her kids appreciate their life and not take it for granted — especially the holidays.

“I feel like I need them to know that that’s a big deal, that not everybody has that,” Mariah said, adding she didn’t get to enjoy the kinds of Christmases she now puts on for her twins: “I didn’t grow up with all the gifts in the land. I kind of love making their holidays great.”

Still, that doesn’t mean her kids have lower standards when it comes to Christmas.”My daughter’s Christmas list is like 66 items and I’m not lying,” Mariah remarked. “She texted it to me. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?'”

“Holy” donut hole: A guy tried selling a crumb of a Justin Bieber’s “TimBieb” treat for $100,000

Remember back in the day when someone sold Justin Timberlake‘s half-eaten breakfast on eBay for more than a thousand bucks? Amateur. Some dude in Canada tried selling a crumb — a crumb — from one of Justin’s new line of Tim Hortons “TimBiebs” for $100,000.

The Fort Saskatchewan Record reports that Blake Simms of British Columbia posted a crumb of the TimBieb — which is like a Dunkin’ Munchkin — on Facebook Marketplace for a hundred grand, along with the suggestion, “Great Christmas gift for Justin Bieber fans!”

He didn’t even say what flavor it was.

Reached by the paper, Simms said, “It was a joke and that’s all it is.”  The listing has since been taken down.

However, another enterprising fan is selling a TimBiebs box — which only has two of the treats inside it — for a million bucks, the paper reports, while yet another is offering one for the bargain price of $100,000.  One woman who claims that her box was actually “touched by the great Biebs” is selling it for $24,995.

Most fans are offering somewhat more reasonable prices for their boxes — like $50 — but many are trying to make a killing on the limited-edition TimBiebs merch that came out with the treats: a hat, a fanny pack and a tote.

Justin’s limited-edition line of TimBiebs come in three flavors: Chocolate White Fudge, Sour Cream Chocolate Chip and Birthday Cake Waffle. You can get 10 of them for three bucks.
