Photos, artwork & more from former Beatles member Stuart Sutcliffe may soon be on the market

The public may be getting some more insight into the early days of The Beatles, only this time from the point of view of former Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe.

The U.K. Mirror reports that the Sutcliffe Estate is looking to sell a collection of rare photos, letters, memorabilia and artwork that belonged to Sutcliffe, and auction houses are interested in paying millions to get their hands on it.

The collection includes 37 slides and photos of the group from the period between from 1960 to 1962, including shots with Sutcliffe and good friend John Lennon. There are also pieces of Sutcliffe’s personal artwork.

“The dream was for some of the art collection to find a home where it would be available to all,” Diane Vitale, chief executive of the estate, tells the paper. “The mission was always for it to return to where it all began.”

She’s hoping some of the items could go on display at a university or museum so the public can enjoy them.

“Finding a benefactor who could finance a university or museum acquisition would be ideal,” she says, “and while Liverpool is my first choice it could happen anywhere.”

Sutcliffe, a college friend of Lennon’s, joined The Beatles in early 1960 and was their original bass player. He left the group the following year to pursue his artistic studies in Hamburg, Germany. He passed away in April 1962 at the age of 21 after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

Mathieu Bitton

If you can’t make it to Las Vegas this year to see Maroon 5 do their residency show, they’ve just given you an opportunity to see them in another location.

The group is the latest headliner to be announced for Milwaukee’s Summerfest. They’ll headline the event on July 5 at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater. Tickets for that show will go on sale March 8 at 10 a.m. via the Summerfest website. A fan club presale starts March 6 at 10 a.m. CT.

Milwaukee’s Summerfest will boast 600 artists over nine days. Maroon 5 is just the latest headliner to be announced; the others include Kane Brown, AJR, Carly Rae Jepsen and Mötley Crüe.

On March 8 and 9, Maroon 5 will perform shows in South Korea before returning to the U.S. for the kickoff of their residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. Those dates start May 17 and run through June 1.

After a break from Vegas, which will include the Summerfest appearance and a set at Ottawa Bluesfest on July 7, Adam Levine and the guys will return September 27 for more shows.

Maroon 5 may have new music in 2024: Guitarist James Valentine told ABC Audio a few months ago, “I think it’s almost album time.” If the band does release a new album, it’ll be the first since 2021’s Jordi, named after their late manager, Jordan Feldstein.

On Saturday, March 2, Kaleo performed a concert for 250 fans in front of the famed Colosseum in Rome, Italy. The historic show was filmed for an upcoming documentary and concert film, set to premiere in the summer.

The film, titled Kaleo: Viva Roma in the Shadow of the Colosseum, was produced by the company Vertigo Live and was directed by Giorgio Testi.

“I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity of creating this once in a lifetime cinematic experience with Giorgio and the Vertigo Live team,” says frontman JJ Julius Son. “I’ve always wanted to perform at the Colosseum, so for me, this is a dream come true — and I can’t wait for our fans to see the film.”

You can watch a newly released clip from the performance, capturing a rendition of the song “No Good,” streaming now on YouTube.

Kaleo’s no stranger to performing in unique environments, having previously filmed videos at volcanoes and icebergs. With the Colosseum concert, the Icelandic rockers join artists including Ray Charles, The Cure and Paul McCartney as among the very few who’ve played in or around the ancient landmark.

You can catch Kaleo at a number of more traditional venues throughout 2024, including at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Kentucky’s Bourbon & Beyond festival.

Ice Spice teases forthcoming debut album, ‘Y2K’: “I think this is some of my best work”

Ice Spice closed out 2023 with four Hot 100 singles, with her favorite being “Princess Diana.” Speaking to Billboard for a feature highlighting her as this year’s Women In Music Hitmaker, she explained, “I felt like ‘Princess Diana’ was already my best song on [Like…?], but then it didn’t chart or anything until Nicki [Minaj] got on it. I was just so happy to have both of those worlds where I felt like it was culturally a great song, but also it charted. And then I had my dream collab fulfilled at the same time.”

Her feature on Pinkpantheress‘ “Boy’s a liar, Pt. 2” was a song she “never thought” “would be as big as it is.” “I knew it would be a big moment, but I didn’t think it would be triple-platinum,” Ice Spice told Billboard. As for a song of hers she thought would be “bigger,” she named “Actin a Smoochie.”

Ice is now in the process of recording her debut album, Y2K, which she said will “be sweet and to the point.” “I think this is some of my best work,” the rapper teased.

She’s specifically looking for “really hard” beats that “instantly” move her, noting, “If I don’t physically feel the beat of the speakers — then I’m just going to keep moving on to the next one.”

“But as soon as I know, I know I have that beat. It’s up from there,” Ice continued.

She’s also received advice from Taylor Swift that may help her with songwriting.

“When I was in the studio with Taylor, like, I’ll never forget that. She told me, ‘No matter what, just keep making music and everything’s going to be fine,'” Ice Spice said.
