Kate Micucci reveals surprise lung cancer diagnosis

Kate Micucci, the comedian and actress who created and starred in Garfunkel and Oates, and guested on hits like Raising Hope and The Big Bang Theory, has revealed she underwent surgery for lung cancer after a “surprise” diagnosis.

“It’s really weird, because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life,” she said in a “Sick Tok” video from the hospital.

She added, “I guess, also, it happens and so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good.”

Apparently, abnormal bloodwork sent her to specialists to root out the cause, and a scan of her body revealed a spot on her lung, according to Micucci’s replies to concerned fans.

“It’s been a little bit of a trip and [I’ll] probably be moving slow for a few weeks but then I’ll be back at it,” she continued, adding she was looking forward to getting back to painting.

“Why am I still talking?” she asks herself, before joking, “‘Cause I’m on drugs!” as she flashes a thumbs-up.

The video closed by showing her slowly walking through the halls of the hospital, tugging along an IV pole, while she gave a thumbs-up and a “woo hoo” to the camera. She also commented on the artwork in the hospital, telling an attendee it’s “pretty nice.”

She displayed a still photo happily showing off a box of Frosted Flakes and a banana, courtesy of the hospital.

Santa’s sleigh from ‘Elf’ crash lands in New York City again

Warner Bros. Pictures

Christmas in New York City just got a big addition, thanks to the folks at On Location Tours.

The company that just launched The Elf Movie Sites Tour has secured Santa’s very own sleigh as seen in the blockbuster holiday classic, and fans will be able to snag the ultimate Christmas picture with it this Sunday, December 17.

That’s right, the very vehicle that crash-landed in Central Park in the movie thanks to a lack of Christmas spirit — and a dodgy Kringle 3000 jet engine — will be on display once again in the city’s famous green space.

The prop was purchased by Elf fan Mark Bozek, an entrepreneur on New York’s Long Island, who snagged the sleigh at an online auction 20 years ago for $12,000 following a bidding war. It was quite a jump up from his original bid of $500.

The two-hour event in front of Bethesda Fountain in Central Park will surely top off the sleigh’s clausometer with the spirit of the season. You can check out On Location Tour’s website for details.

‘Taxi’ cast reunites, reminisces on ‘The View’, 45 years after sitcom’s debut

Tony Danza, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, Judd Hirsch, Marilu Henner and Carol Kane, the surviving cast members of the beloved, Emmy-winning sitcom Taxi, reunited on the set of ABC’s The View on Monday.

The cast have remained close in the 45 years since the show first debuted, but DeVito says their chemistry was evident on day one.

“For us, from the first day, the first moment we got together, it was like a family,” said DeVito, who played scheming Sunshine Cab Company dispatcher Louie De Palma.

“We were hugging and kissing the first day and we didn’t even really know each other,” he continued. “We read the script and everyone was falling into place. It was miraculous. But we appreciated it and never took it for granted. We always felt like the work was the most important thing.”

The cast said they capped every show, which was taped on a Friday night in front of a studio audience, with an epic party. “We did 112 shows, and we had 112 parties,” said Henner, who played single mom Elaine Nardo.

“And we were like the cool kids on the Paramount campus, ’cause we were the ones who had a party every Friday night,” she continued.

Tony Danza, who was a struggling boxer — not an actor — when he was added to the cast as Tony Banta, credited the rest of his cast with welcoming him to “the number one show on TV.”

He recalled, laughing, that it was him behind the wheel of the cab driving across the 59th Street Bridge for the show’s opening credits — and security had to boot out a New Yorker who jumped into what he thought was an operating cab.

Zac Efron receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame: “It’s a dream come true”

Leon Bennett/Getty Images

Zac Efron, known for his roles in High School Musical, The Greatest Showman and more, now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In a ceremony honoring him Monday, Efron said “it’s a dream come true” to have a star on Hollywood Boulevard.

“You have no idea how I’m feeling right now. It’s so surreal,” Efron said. “I’ve been acting and singing and dancing for as long as I can remember, since I was a little boy, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d be standing here today in front of such dear friends, colleagues throughout the years and lifelong fans who have been with me since day one. I love you guys so much.”

Efron also thanked his parents, who were in attendance, as well as High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and High School Musical producer Bill Borden.

“You guys were both instrumental in giving me my start in High School Musical,” Efron said of Ortega and Borden. “For that I’m just eternally grateful. I still think about it every day — I sing the songs in the shower.”

“Go Wildcats,” he added, referencing the film’s catchphrase.

Efron’s most recent movie is the Sean Durkin-directed film The Iron Claw, which is based on the true story of the Von Erich brothers, an American professional wrestling family. Efron, who portrays the wrestler Kevin Von Erich, stars in the film alongside Jeremy Allen White.

White and Durkin honored Efron during his Walk of Fame ceremony. Kevin Von Erich was also in attendance, as was Miles Teller, who starred with Efron in the 2014 film That Awkward Moment.

David Hyde Pierce explains why he didn’t join the “great” ‘Frasier ‘reboot

NBCU Photo Bank

While he will forever be remembered for playing Niles Crane, Frasier Crane’s persnickety psychiatrist brother on Frasier — which earned him four Emmy Awards — David Hyde Pierce was one of the original show’s main cast members not to jump onto the Paramount+ reboot.

In a new interview with The Los Angeles Times, Pierce explains that while he “loved every moment” of the original NBC hit, he “never really wanted to go back.”

“It’s not like I said, ‘Oh, I don’t ever want to do that again,'” Pierce explains, allowing how much he loved his time on the show.

“It was that I wanted to do other things,” insists the star of Max’s Julia, about famed TV chef Julia Child.

He continues, “[W]hen we got into real talks about the reboot, I had just started on the Julia TV show and was working on a musical and going to do another musical … And I just thought, ‘I don’t want to be committed to a show and not be able to do stuff like this.'”

“I also thought, ‘They don’t actually need me,'” he adds, explaining of his TV brother, played by Kelsey Grammer, “Frasier has moved on to a new world. They have new characters. And I think I’m right. It’s doing great. And the new people they have are great.”

While nothing has been officially announced about a second season of Grammer’s new show, he recently told The Hollywood Reporter, “I believe we have a home at Paramount+ for several years to come, and we certainly have several ideas for it.”

Meanwhile, Pierce is back on the stage in New York City, in Stephen Sondheim and David Ive‘s musical Here We Are.

David Hume Kennerly/Getty Images

In a chat with Variety alongside her co-star and co-executive producer of The Morning Show, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston opened up about the recent loss of her former Friends co-star Matthew Perry.

In fact, she revealed she had been texting with Perry the morning of October 28, the day the actor was found dead at his Los Angeles home.

Aniston said she would like Perry to be remembered “as he said he’d love to be remembered“: someone who struggled with addiction and helped others get sober.

“He was happy. He was healthy,” Aniston continued. “He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy — that’s all I know.” She added, “[F]unny Matty … was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”

Witherspoon, who said she was “lucky to have played Aniston’s little sister on Friends,” noted, “It’s important people know that.”

Aniston added, “I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard. He really was dealt a tough one.”

She expressed, “I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard.”

Aniston also said Perry’s “dialect, his way of speaking, created a whole different world. We went with his lead, in a way. It just added something to our joy.”

She called the outpouring of love after Perry’s death “so beautiful,” adding, “I hope he can know that he was loved in a way he never thought he was.”
