The cause of death of Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton has reportedly been revealed.

Keaton, 79, died on Oct. 11 of pneumonia, according to People magazine, which cited a statement from the actress’ family. The statement also expressed thanks for “the extraordinary messages of love and support” from fans following her death.

Details were not immediately available when her death was confirmed on Saturday.

At the time, the Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a medical call to Keaton’s Brentwood home at 8:08 a.m. local time on Saturday and took a patient to the hospital.

Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s with her role as Kay Adams in The Godfather films, and, in 1978, she won the Academy Award for best actress for her performance in Annie Hall.

She is also known for her roles in Play It Again, Sam, Baby Boom, The First Wives Club and the Book Club franchise.

She told ABC News in 2022 that she had been “very fortunate to have many opportunities that came my way.”

She said, “What made my life interesting was I had freedom. You know, that I had the opportunity to make my choices with time as it went on.”

Upon learning the news of Keaton’s death, many across Hollywood mourned the actress on social media, including her co-stars over the years, like Mary Steenburgen, Goldie Hawn and filmmaker Nancy Meyers, who worked with Keaton on Something’s Gotta Give and Father of the Bride.

The family’s statement published by People went on to say: “She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her.”

Season 3 of Netflix’s The Diplomat is out now, and like previous seasons, fans should expect to see a whole lot of twists, turns and surprises. And at least one of the show’s actors likes to experience those, as well.

Rufus Sewell plays Hal Wyler, husband of Keri Russell’s U.K. ambassador Kate Wyler. He tells ABC Audio that when it comes to the scripts, he prefers to stay in the dark as much as possible.

“What I always ask is, if it’s something that Hal would know, then I wanna know it to the best that they can do,” he says. “Otherwise, I like to be surprised along with everyone else. I mean, not at the same time, obviously. I don’t wanna wait until it comes out.”

But once he knows what’s going to happen, Sewell says it’s “surprisingly easy” for him not to spill any secrets.

“Unfortunately, it’s also surprisingly easy for me not to remember the things I’m supposed to remember,” he adds.

While viewers may sometimes question Hal’s motives, Sewell has no doubt his character is “100 percent behind” Kate, but notes he’s also “100 percent behind himself, too.”

“I enjoy and relish his faults and his blind spots,” he says. “But I won’t accept other people’s descriptions of his blind spots that I do not think are true.”

This season, The West Wing’s Bradley Whitford joins the cast as the husband of now-President Grace Penn, played by his former West Wing castmate Allison Janney.

Sewell says series creator Debora Cahn has been smart to not “lean into” their past too much, while still giving fans that nostalgic feeling.

“I think the characters are so distinct … they’re not the same characters,” he says. “But we do get [the] benefit of that kind of inner warmth.”

Sabrina Carpenter is pulling double duty on the Oct. 18 edition of Saturday Night Live, hosting and performing as the musical guest. In a new promo for the show, called “Sabrina in the City,” she struts through the SNL offices at 30 Rock while channeling Carrie Bradshaw.

“New York is one Big Apple,” Sabrina says in a voice-over as she arrives in the elevator. “And I’m taking my bite at Saturday Night Live.” She goes on to misunderstand and disrespect all the cast members who approach her.

When new cast member Tommy Brennan says, “Sabrina! What are you up to?” she replies, “In these heels? Probably like 5’4″.” When cast member Sarah Sherman asks, “Hey, Sabrina, excited for the weekend?” she replies, “Sorry, hun. I prefer a strong end,” and slaps Sarah in the butt. 

After calling Marcello Hernandez “Mr. Big,” she hands him her empty martini glass, and when writer Martin Herlihy approaches her with a script question, she autographs it instead, saying, “Anything for a fan.”

Sabrina sits down, opens her laptop and continues her Carrie Bradshaw interior monologue: “The woman wondered what she’d gotten herself into. Having won over the cast and crew, the only thing left do was—”

She’s interrupted by Sarah, Martin, Tommy and Marcello, who are standing behind her. “What is she writing?” Tommy asks. “No idea. The computer’s not even on,” Sarah replies.

But when Sabrina turns around they’re all smiles, giving her a thumbs-up.

Sabrina was last on SNL as a musical guest in May 2024 and also appeared on the SNL 50th Anniversary Special.

KPop Demon Hunters is returning to theaters in time for spooky season.

The sing-along version of the animated film is returning to theaters for a limited event starting on Oct. 31 and running through Nov. 2.

This time around, the limited theatrical event of the popular Netflix film will be available at all three major U.S. theater chains — AMC, Regal and Cinemark. It will also play in other select theaters.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 6 a.m. PT.

Netflix is encouraging fans to embrace the Halloween spirit and attend screenings dressed as their favorite KPop Demon Hunters character.

KPop Demon Hunters is the most popular Netflix film of all time. Its soundtrack made history as the first to have four simultaneous top-10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

A sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue has officially been greenlit.

The much-anticipated sequel film to the popular rom-com is officially coming via Amazon MGM Studios. It will be titled Red, White & Royal Wedding. But I’m a Cheerleader director Jamie Babbit will helm the upcoming movie.

While plot details are being left under wraps, the new film will tell the next chapter in the love story of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States, and Prince Henry, who is third in line to the British throne.

Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez are set to reprise their starring roles for the sequel. Babbit takes over directing duties from Matthew López, who helmed the first film. She directs from a script by Gemma Burgess, López and Red, White & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston. McQuiston will also executive produce.

“Working with this team to bring Red, White & Royal Blue to life has been a dream come true, and I hope readers and watchers alike will love how the story continues in the sequel,” McQuiston said in a press release. “I’m so grateful to Matthew for all his hard work on the first movie and in co-creating this new story with me, and I know that Jamie has the vision, wit, and tenderness to take great care of Alex and Henry from here.”

Babbit said she’s thrilled to be back in the “queer love universe” after she directed But I’m a Cheerleader while she was in her 20s.

“We all need this kind of optimism, fantasy, and gay joy,” Babbit said. “I’m thrilled to work with this brilliant team.”

A documentary on the making of the Avatar films is headed to Disney+.

Fans of James Cameron‘s fantasy sci-fi franchise will be able to watch Fire and Water: Making the Avatar Films on Nov. 7. The trailer for the two-part documentary from 20th Century Studios and Lightstorm Entertainment arrived on Wednesday.

The documentaries will show a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the making of the Oscar-winning film Avatar: The Way of Water, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash. Exclusive footage, concept art, and interviews with the cast and crew behind both films will be shown in the documentaries.

Thomas C. Grane directed Fire and Water: Making the Avatar Films. Cameron and Rae Sanchini executive produced the project.

Featured in the two-part documentary through interviews are Cameron; Sam Worthington, who stars as Jake Sully; Zoe Saldaña, who plays Neytiri; Stephen Lang, who plays the villainous Colonel Miles Quaritch; Sigourney Weaver, who played Dr. Grace Augustine and now portrays Kiri; and Cameron’s longtime collaborator Kate Winslet, who portrays Ronal, the Tsahìk of the Metkayina clan.

Also interviewed are the films’ many crew members, including the casting director, visual effects supervisors, production designers, stunt coordinators and more.

“As much as we use computers and technology, Avatar is made by an incredibly talented team of people who bring every expression, every emotional beat, and the entire world, to life,” Cameron says in the trailer.

The documentary found its filmmakers traveling across the world “to follow the cast and below-the-line team as they work to hone and perfect the techniques of underwater performance capture technology and learn to free dive in a massive, state-of-the-art 680,000-gallon water tank,” according to a press release.

Wildlife conservationist, photographer and zookeeper Robert Irwin delivered an emotional contemporary routine on Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night, dedicating his performance to his mom, Terri Irwin.

The 21-year-old even brought his mom out in the routine’s final moments, and the mother-son duo shared a hug at the end.

“I’m incredibly honoured that Robert thought of me,” Terri Irwin wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend, ahead of her son’s performance. “Steve and I always talked about how much it meant to us to be parents. So much love. This will be a special night.”

Terri Irwin raised her two children — Robert Irwin and Bindi Irwin — after her husband, Steve Irwin, died in 2006 from an injury caused by a stingray.

Robert Irwin and his professional dance partner, Witney Carson, danced to Phil Collins‘ 2002 ballad “You’ll Be in My Heart” for Tuesday night’s performance, and the two earned their best score of the season so far.

Robert Irwin also reflected in an Instagram post on what he previously called an “emotional week in rehearsals.”

“My mum and dad created a legacy that l’m proud to continue. I hope I can use this dance to share what she means to me, to our family, and to say thank you for always supporting me through life’s ups and downs,” he wrote.

After the show, he added in an Instagram Story post, “I will remember tonight forever. Thank you.”

Jennifer Aniston is opening up about her decision to not become a Saturday Night Live cast member.

The actress spoke about the career decision during a recent appearance on Dax Shepard‘s podcast Armchair Expert. Aniston said she declined an offer Lorne Michaels gave her to join the cast of the late-night comedy sketch series in the early 1990s due to her ego.

“I always thought I was such hot s***,” Aniston said. “The story of that is all very confusing.”

Aniston said she took a meeting with Michaels during the time her friend Adam Sandler was on the show. The actress said she had reservations about how she would be treated if she joined the cast.

“I don’t know why I had this self-righteous attitude of ‘I don’t know if women are treated the way they should be treated on this show,'” Aniston said.

She said she believed at the time that SNL was “a very male-dominated” show.

“I would love to be here if it was in the Gilda Radner day,” Aniston said she told Michaels at the time. “I mean, this is the brain that semi-remembers things that are back that far. I can’t remember, but I remember Friends then happened. And that’s where I went.”

Aniston has hosted SNL twice — once in November 1999 and again in January 2004. She won an Emmy in 2002 for her role as Rachel Green in Friends.
