Lorne Michaels has commented on the Saturday Night Live cast changes for the upcoming season 51. While speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the Emmys red carpet, Michaels said, “The show has always brought people in from different ages and different generations and it’s how it revives itself. It’s always hard when people leave but there’s a time for that and our audiences always stayed relatively young and more so now with TikTok, and change is good. And the people we’re bringing in I’m really excited about.” …

Actor Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney in director Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopics, and he talks to Rolling Stone about the work he’s putting in to get it right.
He and his castmates will be performing live for the film, and Mescal tells the mag he’s been learning to play guitar left-handed for the role.
“It would just be crazy to not play it left-handed, you know?” he says. “You’re like, ‘Nah. I like [McCartney] a lot but I don’t love him.’ That would be the messaging if I didn’t play left-handed. And he’s the f***** coolest man on planet earth, I think.”
Mescal was able to meet with McCartney and even got to play a classic Beatles tune with him.
“I will never forget it as long as I live. I got to play ‘Blackbird’ with him,” he says in a video interview with the mag. “That’s the coolest thing that my job has ever afforded me. I was kind of having an out-of-body experience, being like, I was in drama school nine years ago, and now I’m sat opposite Paul McCartney and we’re playing ‘Blackbird.'”
He adds, “I was like, I love my job.”
Mescal says he’s always been a “massive admirer” of McCartney’s music, calling the rocker’s work ethic “absolutely relentless.”
“I’m biased, but I think it’s kind of just an objective fact that like the work that he made has changed the world, the world of pop culture and culture more broadly,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I think he has fundamentally and forever changed the world.”
Mendes’ Beatles films, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, will be released in April 2028.
Noah Wyle as Dr. Robby in ‘The Pitt.’ (HBO Max/Warrick Page)
The Pittcame out on top at the 77th Emmy Awards, winning for outstanding drama series. Star Noah Wyle also won outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his portrayal of Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch.
Dr. Robby grapples with grief as he goes about his work day in season 1 of the show, and Wyle told ABC Audio back in February that hearing stories about real-life emergency room doctors relating to his character is the most rewarding part of his job.
“It feels analogous to when my son was born, and they handed him to me for the first time and I went, ‘Oh, that’s why I’m here,'” Wyle said. “Everything I’ve ever done or learned—it hasn’t been for me. The point of it was to teach it to you or to have it as a frame of reference for you.”
Wyle says he feels like The Pitt is exactly where he is meant to be.
“In the same way, I feel very much like, ‘Oh, this is what I’m supposed to be doing right now.’ This feels [like] really an important and impactful show and message to be bringing out there, and I feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”
After starting out as Dr. John Carter on ER, Wyle says playing a doctor again on The Pitt feels “totally full circle,” as the shows were filmed on the same lot.
“We shoot this show on stage 22, we filmed ER on stage 11 — I drive through the same gate that I drove through every day for 15 years and drive past that stage and thousands of ghosts to get to stage 22 to basically put on the same costume and do the same thing that I did when I was in my 20s,” Wyle said. “It feels wonderful and synchronistic, and it feels appropriate and timely, and it’s been really gratifying.”

The White Lotus is officially saying bonjour to France.
HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys confirmed the location of the series’ fourth season in an interview with Deadline after the 77th Emmy Awards.
When asked specifically where the next season will take place, Bloys said, “France for sure but details and location TBD.”
The White Lotus creator Mike White was absent from the Emmy Awards ceremony on Sunday, despite being nominated. It was speculated that his absence was due to him being in France, writing the next season of the show.
“I believe that is the case,” Bloys told Deadline.
While HBO walked away with many acting Emmy Awards at Sunday night’s ceremony, none of them went to season 3 of The White Lotus. Bloys spoke about why he believes the show was shut out of the supporting actor and actress categories despite many nominations.
“I do think that The White Lotus may have been a victim of his own success with so many nominations in the categories,” Bloys said. “But again, that’s the way it goes.”
In all, HBO and HBO Max received 30 Emmy awards across 12 different projects, including outstanding drama series for The Pitt and outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for Jean Smart in Hacks.

Dreamgirls is making its Broadway return.
A new revival of the hit 1981 musical is set to debut in New York City in fall 2026, four producers announced in a press release on Monday.
The show, which focuses on a young Black female singing trio’s rise to stardom, will be directed and choreographed by Camille A. Brown, who did choreography for Alicia Keys‘ musical, Hell’s Kitchen.
The production team will turn to the public in order to fill out the cast for the trio of women at the heart of the show, according to the release from Sonia Friedman Productions, Sue Wagner, John Johnson and LaChanze Productions.
“Seeking talented women of all shapes and sizes, the auditions will take place in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Miami, London, Toronto, Mexico City, Amsterdam, Rome and Paris,” reads the release.
Dreamgirls, which starred Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jennifer Holliday, Loretta Devine, Deborah Burrell and more, debuted on Broadway in 1981, and scored 13 nominations and six wins at the 1982 Tony Awards. BenHarney won for best lead actor, Holliday won for best lead actress, and Michael Bennett and Michael Peters shared the award for best choreography.
The show also scored two Grammys the following year for best cast show album and best female R&B vocal performance for Holliday.
The musical also saw success beyond New York, scoring praise for its 2016 showing on London’s West End.
Director Bill Condon adapted the musical into a 2006 film starring Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé, Eddie Murphy and more. Hudson won an Oscar for best supporting actress for the film.
Laurie Metcalf as Augusta Gein and Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein in ‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story.’ (Netflix)
The official trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story has arrived.
Netflix released the trailer for the upcoming season in Ryan Murphy‘s anthology series on Monday.
This time around, the focus is on Ed Gein, the serial killer and grave robber who hunted rural Wisconsin in the 1950s. Charlie Hunnam takes on the role of the titular killer in the series, which sets out to explore whether monsters are born or created, and also why audiences are drawn to stories about them.
“Driven by isolation, psychosis, and an all-consuming obsession with his mother, Gein’s perverse crimes birthed a new kind of monster that would haunt Hollywood for decades,” the show’s official synopsis reads. “From Psycho to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs, Gein’s macabre legacy gave birth to fictional monsters born in his image and ignited a cultural obsession with the criminally deviant.”
After watching a montage of Hunnam’s Gein doing some horrific things, the trailer breaks the fourth wall. “You’re the one who can’t look away,” the actor says directly into the camera.
The trailer also reveals that Addison Rae will appear in the series as Evelyn, a babysitter who becomes one of Gein’s victims.
Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, Suzanna Son, Vicky Krieps, Olivia Williams, Lesley Manville and CharlieHall also make up the show’s cast.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story will be available to stream Oct. 3 on Netflix.
