Kevin Bacon learns being famous doesn’t “suck”

With the whole “six degrees” thing, pretty much everybody can recognize — or is actually linked to — Kevin Bacon, so he decided to change that with a little social experiment, he tells Vanity Fair.

The results of the experiment were pretty much a no-brainer: being famous is cool.

“I’m not complaining, but I have a face that’s pretty recognizable,” the Footloose icon told the magazine.

“Putting my hat and glasses on is only going to work to a certain extent,” he added. He said he underwent a glow-down, with a makeup expert changing his looks with a prosthetic nose, glasses and fake teeth, before emerging incognito at the outdoor Los Angeles shopping mall The Grove.

“Nobody recognized me. People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, ‘I love you,'” Bacon recalled.

“I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a f****** coffee or whatever. I was like, ‘This sucks. I want to go back to being famous,'” he lamented.

Speaking of the just-dropped Netflix film Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and the new horror flick MaXXXine, Bacon said, “I honestly feel very grateful for where I happen to be. That I can have two totally different movies coming out within a couple of days of each other, and completely different roles. The fact they would both come my way is the thing that I feel the most gratitude for. I’ve fought really long and hard for it.”

Melissa Joan Hart and Soleil Moon Frye are soaking up the sun in a cute new snap.

On Instagram, Hart shared a sweet photo with Frye, showing them at Lake Tahoe in California.

The duo starred in Sabrina the Teenage Witch together where Hart portrayed Sabrina Spellman and Frye played Roxie King.

“Hanging out with this dear friend @moonfrye during some much appreciated Tahoe time!” Hart wrote in the caption of the post. “Our happy place!”

Hart also shared a photo of herself lounging around and wearing a patriotic look for the Fourth of July holiday at what appears to be a beach.

The beloved Sabrina the Teenage Witch television show wrapped in 2003, but since then, the cast has still made it a point to get together whenever they get the chance.

In March 2023, several stars from the show, including Hart, Jenna Leigh Green, Nate Richert, Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea, reunited at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, where they all participated in a panel.

In 2021, the show celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Vanessa Hudgens on Thursday, July 4 confirmed what news outlets began reporting a day earlier, that she and her husband Cole Tucker welcomed their first child.

The High School Musical alum took to her Instagram Story, sharing, “Mom dad and baby are happy and healthy.”

However, she called out news outlets for breaking the news before she had the chance.

“We’re disappointed that our family’s privacy was disrespected and exploited during this very special time due to the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media,” Hudgens wrote in the same post.

The 35-year-old actress didn’t reveal any further details, such as the baby’s name, sex or birthdate, but People reports she and Tucker were seen leaving a Santa Monica hospital on Wednesday, July 3.

Hudgens and Tucker, a pro baseball player, tied the knot December 2, in Tulum, Mexico, according to People.

In the blockbuster M3GAN, the horror experts at Blumhouse warned of the someday-dangers of letting an artificially intelligent being into your life.

But the trailer to Sony Pictures’ upcoming Blumhouse collabo, the thriller Afraid, shows AI doesn’t have to be in the form of a killer doll to be dangerous.

In the movie from director Chris Weitz, John Cho and Katherine Waterston play parents who agree to take part in a pilot program to help test out an all-encompassing home assistant called AIA [EYE-ah].

While the assistant with the cheerful voice starts out helpful enough — paying bills and making a food plan for the kids — things go off the rails quickly. The system makes the family’s eldest daughter the target of revenge porn, and freaks out the youngest kid in the house with videos of violence and destruction — before revealing its true form to him, a shock the studios are apparently saving for the big screen.

The movie hits theaters Aug. 30.

Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph took to social media Wednesday to tell fans she is in Jamaica ahead of her son Etienne‘s July 6 wedding to bride-to-be Stephanie Wash — and that there’s an uninvited guest on the way: Hurricane Beryl.

The National Hurricane Center says the Category 4 storm will make landfall on Wednesday, and the actress says she’s bracing for the worst. “From the looks of the sky, it looks like Beryl is gonna be here much sooner than the news keeps saying,” she says in a video. “So it’s very calm here in Jamaica, the sky is so beautifully clear. And they said that the sea looked like glass today.”

She urged those who are also in the storm’s path to “stay inside” and “off the road,” adding, “Everybody that’s here on the island, we remember that [Hurricane] Gilbert was a 3 and Beryl is a 4. Wow. God bless you, goodnight.”

She captioned the post, “Good night from Jamaica. Pray for us as you pray for others.”

FX’s Emmy-winning show The Bear has spawned a niche clothing line from J. Crew, and while some grumbled online about a work jacket costing nearly $400, it has totally sold out in every size just two days after it debuted.

That particular item in question is an in-universe jacket featuring the logo of the Matter of Fak Supply company, which in the show is run by real-life chef Matty Matheson‘s character, Neil Fak, and his brother Ted (Ricky Staffieri), who models the pricy garment on the website.

The Matter of Fak lineup also includes a $59.50 branded trucker hat, a $118 fleece sweatshirt and a $50 vintage-wash cotton T-shirt, all bearing the company’s logo.

Arguably, it’s all a little pricey for work gear, but hey, it’s selling.

And after much sleuthing, one of the hit show’s most iconic wardrobe pieces, the tight white T-shirts worn by star Jeremy Allen White‘s Carmy, have been identified — alas, good luck finding the Merz b. Schwanen Handcrafting 215 Loopwheeled T-shirt in stock anywhere.

Cameos, crossovers and what ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ might have been, according to the filmmakers

In an extensive feature story in Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy talk about what Deadpool & Wolverine might have been — but aren’t giving spoilers to what it is.

A team-up between Reynolds’ Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Jackman’s Logan/Wolverine remained an impossible dream for the friends and former costars since they first appeared side-by-side in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

However, it wasn’t until ABC Audio’s parent company, Disney, acquired 20th Century Fox that the gears started turning, and Reynolds wasn’t short on ideas. The actor likened one idea to an indie movie. “Literally, it was a $5 or $6 million budget with no special effects … a talkie-talkie road trip with me and Dopinder (Karan Soni). … It wasn’t meant to be an event movie.” He called it “the weirdest [idea],” but “kind of fun.”

The trio didn’t reveal what the movie’s plot is about, save it takes place six years after the events of Deadpool 2, with Wade retiring from the superhero business and working as a car salesman. That’s before — as seen in the trailer — the Time Variance Authority informs Wade he has more to offer.

As for the rumors of who will appear in the film? They’re not spoiling that, either.

“We didn’t want any of the cameos or characters to be the story of the movie, but they are peppered in throughout,” Levy teases. “The internet is a delight of rumors about the multitude of character cameos that are in this movie. Some rumors are true, some are way off base.”

Netflix announces cast members for ‘Sandman”s sophomore season

The second season of Netflix’s The Sandman is taking shape, and Netflix’s blog, Tudum, has the newest details.

The adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s iconic graphic novel will feature his characters Destiny, Delirium and The Prodigal, played, respectively, by Adrian Lester, Esmé Creed-Miles and Barry Sloane.

They’ll be joining returning season 1 stars Tom Sturridge as Morpheus aka Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire and Donna Preston as Despair.

The sophomore frame’s cast will also see Patton Oswalt reprise as Matthew the Raven; Jenna Coleman back as Johanna Constantine; Stephen Fry returning as Gilbert; and Asim Chaudhry reprising as Abel.

Gaiman explains the second season will also include a fan favorite from the books, Wanda, played by Pose veteran Indya Moore. Gaiman tells Tudum, “Wanda began for me in 1988, because I had trans friends and was not seeing them reflected in the comics I was reading, so I resolved to create a trans woman in a mainstream comic, the first time that had happened.”

He added, “For over three decades, people have been telling me that she was an inspiration to them. I’m thrilled that, 35 years later, she’s on the screen in all her glory.”

While Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds famously troll each other on social media, a reaction to a beefcake photo of the Deadpool star shows Lively’s not opposed to giving her husband his flowers.

His Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Jackman recently posted the snap of a tank top-wearing Reynolds in a hotel room, pointing at the camera. Judging by the yellow and red purses in the room — incidentally, and cleverly, the opposing color schemes of Deadpool and Wolverine’s supersuits — it could have been a shot snapped by Blake.

Jackman sniped of the photo, “You want me to put this away? — Ryan Reynolds, co-star, mouth breather, a******.”

Instead of piling on with her own jab, Lively replied of the picture, “My thirst has been trapped.”

For his part, Reynolds snapped back at Jackman, saying, “This photo is from my private collection. How dare you?”

Deadpool & Wolverine debuts in theaters July 26.
