Jonathan Joss, known for his roles in King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation, has died following a fatal shooting, according to the San Antonio Police Department. He was 59.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to a location for a “shooting in progress” on Sunday night. When officers arrived, the victim, identified as Joss, was “found near the roadway of the location” and officers “attempted life saving measures until EMS arrived.”
“EMS pronounced the victim deceased,” the report stated.
Police say a suspect, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, is in custody. An investigation is ongoing.
Joss, who was born Dec. 22, 1965, was an actor and producer. He voiced John Redcorn on the hit animated television series King of the Hill from 1998 to 2009.
Joss also appeared on several television shows including Walker, Texas Ranger, ER, Charmed, Friday Night Lights and Parks and Recreation, in which he starred as Chief Ken Hotate.
In January, Joss revealed that his home in South San Antonio had been destroyed by a fire, according to ABC San Antonio station KSAT-TV. The home had been built by his father in 1957. The fire also took the lives of his three dogs, he said.
Joss is survived by his husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales, with whom he exchanged vows on Valentine’s Day, according to Facebook.
Kern de Gonzales shared a statement about Joss’ death on the actor’s Facebook page Monday, claiming that the incident was allegedly preceded by multiple threats and harassment from “individuals” in the area. Kern de Gonzales claimed he and Joss were “checking the mail at the site of our former home” when a man approached them and allegedly “started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.”
Kern de Gonzales claimed he and Joss were unarmed at the time of the shooting and that when the man allegedly fired at them, Joss pushed Kern de Gonzales out of the way.
“He saved my life,” Kern de Gonzales wrote. “Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future. He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other. I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved.”
He then thanked those who supported Joss and vowed to continue “protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together.”

The show, which stars Jon Hamm as fired hedge fund manager and thief Andrew “Coop” Cooper, was renewed for season 2 before the first episode dropped on April 11.
ABC Audio spoke to Hamm and his co-star Amanda Peet about what fans can expect in the second season, which is currently in production.
“We were very pleased to get that news from Apple,” Hamm said of the season 2 renewal.
Hamm said to prepare for things to get even more outrageous in the next season.
“I think we’ve established … over the course of the first season Coop trying to manage so many things that seem to be unmanageable. And I think that will hopefully continue in season 2. I think his life will become a little more stable. And yet at the same time, his situation will become a little more outrageous for sure.”
Peet said she was thrilled about returning for another season of the show.
“I feel so lucky that we got renewed. I just have never had that happen in my life,” Peet said.
At the time of the interview, Peet said she hadn’t been told what was going to happen in season 2, and that she was “dying to know myself.”
Peet offered up a few ideas and themes for where the series could go.
“I really like stories in which there is this constant theme or conceit where it’s like, ‘Do I really know you? Do I really? Is the person lying next to me — or who I’ve known for this many years — really who I think they are?’ So I think that’s really fun. How is that gonna unfold between Mel and Coop? I really, I can’t wait.”
Paramount Pictures has announced a global celebration for the 30th anniversary of the iconic ’90s comedy film Clueless.
The Amy Heckerling-directed movie was first released on July 19, 1995, and continues to have a strong fan base as the years go by. Because of this, Paramount Pictures has announced a slew of celebrations for the anniversary it’s dubbing Summer of Clueless, which includes a theatrical rerelease.
Clueless will return to the big screen nationwide in the U.S. on June 29 and June 30. Additionally, the film will head back to theaters in Ireland and the U.K. on June 27.

A star-studded panel of guests will participate in a conversation after the screening, including Heckerling, stars Alicia Silverstone, Elisa Donovan and Breckin Meyer, costume designer Mona May and casting director Marcia Ross.
The legacy of Clueless will also be acknowledged by the city where the film is set. Sharona Nazarian, the mayor of Beverly Hills, California, is declaring July 19 to be Clueless Day. The celebration will feature a street festival with themed photo ops, a costume contest, food trucks and more.
“While many iconic films have been set in our city, CLUELESS stands out, not just as a defining film of the 1990s, but as a cultural touchstone that continues to resonate with new generations,” Nazarian said in a statement. “Its legacy endures because it’s both stylish and sincere, and because it’s rooted right here in Beverly Hills.”
