Tropical storm Fred makes landfall in Florida

(CAPE SAN BLAS, Fla.) — Tropical storm Fred made landfall near Cape San Blas, along the Florida Panhandle, on Monday afternoon with winds near 65 mph.

One foot of rain is possible in the Florida Panhandle. Fred then is forecast to barrel north through Alabama and Georgia, delivering up to 10 inches of rain.

The flash flood threat will stretch to Atlanta and could even reach Richmond, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., by Wednesday.

President Joe Biden warned last week that the hurricane-prone states also are ones with surging COVID-19 cases.

“Let me be clear. If you’re in a state where hurricanes often strike, a vital part of preparing for hurricane season is to get vaccinated now. Everything is more complicated if you’re not vaccinated and a hurricane or natural disaster hits. If you wind up having to evacuate, if you wind up having to stay in a shelter, you don’t want to add COVID-19 to the list of dangers that you’re going to be confronting,” Biden said at a briefing alongside Federal Emergency Management Agency officials.

Fred isn’t the only storm moving through the Atlantic Ocean.

Tropical depression Grace is targeting Haiti, where residents are dealing with a devastating 7.2-magnitude earthquake this weekend that killed nearly 1,300 people.

Gusty winds and heavy rain are expected in Haiti Monday and Jamaica on Tuesday.

And a new tropical depression formed near Bermuda on Monday morning that could become Tropical Storm Henri later in the day.

A tropical depression near Bermuda could cause high waves and rip currents along the East Coast of the U.S.

Henri is expected to circle around Bermuda, where a tropical storm watch is in effect. Henri’s only impact on the U.S. could be high waves and rip currents along the East Coast.

Shervin Lainez

Alessia Cara has released the first installment of her new dating advice game show, Get Him Back or Get Him Back.

The debut episode, now on YouTube, is a tie-in to Alessia’s new song, “Shapeshifter,” which includes the lyric, “Don’t know if I wanna get you back or get you back someday.”

In the clip, Alessia plays the host, Gianna Vitali, a gum-chewing cynic with a New York accent who starts the show by announcing, “All of you sent in your love advice questions, I’m gonna answer them. Am I single? Yes. Am I in any way qualified? No. Let’s get started.”

When one question asks if she believes in finding “The One,” Alessia admits she doesn’t believe in love at all but thinks there are multiple people out there for you so “try ‘em all.”

She also gives her advice on whether opposites attract, what red flags to look for, if someone who broke your heart deserves to have a song written about them, and more.

Episode two  of Get Him Back or Get Him Back will be out next week.

Report: No storybook ending for ‘Bridgerton’ star Phoebe Dynevor and Pete Davidson

Karwai Tang/WireImage

It appears Pete Davidson has moved on from another Hollywood star.

The Sun reports the SNL vet and The Suicide Squad co-star has split from his latest girlfriend, Bridgerton‘s Phoebe Dynevor.

The pair had been linked since last February, and he’d even traveled across The Pond to spend time with the British actress: the couple were spotted together engaged in some PDA during Wimbledon in July.

However, it seems COVID-19 had something to do with the apparent break-up, reports The Sun. While long-distance relationships are hard enough, trying to traverse the distances with pandemic flight restrictions “has made everything more difficult,” a source told the tabloid.

“It was pretty telling when Phoebe headed to Croatia with her mates this week rather than going to see Pete in America,” the gossiper continued.

The source explained of the pair, “Their mates think they make a great couple, but the distance has made it completely unworkable. They had fun and will remain close, but unless something drastic changes, their relationship won’t recover.”

Davidson has previously been linked to a series of A-list beauties, including his former fiancée Ariana GrandeUnderworld‘s Kate Beckinsale, and Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood‘s Margaret Qualley

If you build it, they will stream: ‘Field of Dreams’ gets the TV treatment with Peacock

Alex Trautwig/MLB via Getty Images

While New York Yankees fans might not want to be reminded of Field of Dreams after their recent loss at the film’s Iowa location, Peacock TV has announced a series based on the Kevin Costner classic.

The streaming service has tapped The Office writing alum and Parks and Recreation co-creator Michael Schur with producing a modern take on the Oscar-nominated film, in which Costner played a man mystically prompted to build a baseball field in his cornfield.

“The series will reimagine the mixture of family, baseball, Iowa and magic that makes the movie so enduring and beloved,” the streaming service said in an announcement.

“[W]e could only have entrusted [it] to Mike Schur,” said Erin Underhill, president, Universal Television of the “iconic” film’s adaptation, adding, “His talent, his love for baseball and his reverence for its themes make him the perfect choice to revisit this beloved film that evokes nostalgia and visceral emotion in so many of its fans.”

Universal Television, which backed Schur’s The Good Place and Parks and Rec for NBC, is producing the series.

Incidentally, the love for the film was recently shown in the ratings for that Yankees/White Sox matchup in Dyersville, Iowa, which were the highest of any game since 2005. It drew a big numbers on streaming as well.

Is Adele building a massive mansion in London?

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

Following reports that Adele recently purchased her LA neighbor Nicole Richie‘s home for more than $7 million, a British tabloid reports that the star is about to build a huge mansion in London.

The Mirror claims it’s seen the plans for the home in the fashionable neighborhood of Kensington, which will be created by connecting two existing homes.  The paper claims Adele bought those two homes for more than $15 million and is now spending close to three million to connect them.

The new home, claims the paper, will have a master bedroom that alone measures 1,000 square feet, which is twice the size of the average London apartment.  The bedroom will take up the entire first floor of the four-floor property, which will also include a two-car garage, a big playroom for Adele’s eight-year-old son, a yard with a barbecue area and more.

In addition to the house she just bought from Nicole Richie, Adele also owns two more LA properties on that same street.

Lately, Adele’s been seen out and about in New York with her reported new boyfriend, sports agent Rich Paul.

The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” sets record for longest-running song on ‘Billboard’ Hot 100

XO/Republic

Even though it came out back in 2019, it seems fans still aren’t tired of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”

The smash hit has just set the record for the longest-running song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, at 88 weeks.  Previously, it was tied with “Radioactive,” by Imagine Dragons, at 87 weeks.

Prior to this new milestone, the song had also set the record for most time in the top five, the top 10 and the top 40 of the Hot 100 — at 43 weeks, 47 weeks, 79 weeks and 84 weeks, respectively.

“Blinding Lights” is one of three number-one hits from The Weeknd’s 2020 album, After Hours.  The others are “Save Your Tears” and “Heartless.”

Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds doesn’t mind that The Weeknd just beat his band’s record.  He tells Billboard, “I love The Weeknd…he’s a legend, he’s an icon. I think his music is the type of music that’s going to live on for a long time, and do good things. So if there was ever someone to take the record, I think it’s good company.”
