Paul McCartney says the Beatles “keep going” because there are still “little things” to discover

Paul McCartney‘s new Hulu docuseries McCartney 3, 2, 1 is the latest installment of what’s shaping up to be a huge year for Beatles and Beatles-adjacent material. That includes the pending release of Peter Jackson‘s Get Back, to the just-released 50th anniversary edition of George Harrison‘s All Things Must Pass, to McCartney’s own album, McCartney III Reimagined. But McCartney thinks there will always be a demand for Beatles material, because there’s always going to be someone out there who’s yet to discover them.

“There’s so much stuff out there. But I think that’s one of the reasons The Beatles keep going — because you keep discovering another little thing,” Paul tells Rolling Stone in a new interview featuring him and his 3,2,1 co-star Rick Rubin. “I always think everyone’s heard all the stories. As you get older, you think, “Am I just repeating all my stories?”

Paul Continues, “But I rationalize, well, there’s only one answer to the question, ‘How did you meet John [Lennon]?’ I can’t make another meeting up. I can maybe try and explain how we met in a slightly different way. But I’ll still talk to someone and they say, ‘What? You dreamed [the melody of] “Yesterday”?’ And so I’ll tell the story again, but it’s like, ‘You sure you haven’t heard this?’ But not everyone has.”

And, as Paul points out, “As we go on and the young people come onboard, there’s a lot of stuff they haven’t heard.”

You can hear Paul tell a lot of those stories in McCartney 3, 2, 1. Rubin believes the the docuseries is a hit because “it doesn’t come across as product.” Or, as Paul notes, “People feel like they’re watching us talk. Which is exactly what’s happening.”

John Boyega shares what he found “kind of scary” about his new film ‘Naked Singularity’

John Boyega admits he was a bit intimated by his Naked Singularity character Casi, an overzealous public defender who rails against the corrupt criminal justice system.

“I [felt] quite distant when I read the script,” Boyega tells ABC Audio. “I felt quite distant as a person to the character of Casi. I’ve never gone to school to study this practice and then going onto the field as a public defender to kind of basically help influence the fate of defendants — [it’s] kind of scary.”

In the film, which is part courtroom drama, sci-fi and heist-thriller, Boyega plays a social justice warrior who decides to help a client with a multi-million dollar drug heist. This all happens while viewers learn that the world is expected to ominously “collapse in 12 days.”

Although Boyega says he was going into uncharted territories when he took on the role of Casi, the Star Wars alum says he did eventually find some common ground with his character.

“Casi having a conflict about his position and job was where my interests were,” Boyega says.

“Because I guess as the maybe ignorant civilian who hasn’t worked in those kind of high sectors, I feel like, ‘Don’t you guys ever want to sabotage anything?'” he laughs, referring to the court cases.

“So, I guess because of that curiosity — actually dealing with a character that actually has a chance to make some real bank, some real money, and to get out of the system too — was definitely interesting to me,” Boyega explains. “So that’s where my interests — my in was.”

Naked Singularity, also starring Olivia Cooke, is in select theaters and will be available on video on demand on Friday, August 13.

Nicole Kidman reveals how husband Keith Urban reacts to her intimate scenes

Nicole Kidman says she does not have to worry about what husband Keith Urban thinks when she films some of her steamier love scenes.

Speaking with E!’s Daily Pop, the Big Little Lies star revealed that Keith is fully supportive of what she does — even when it comes to her stripping down for the camera.

“My husband is an artist, so he understands all of it, and he also does not get involved,” Nicole said of her husband of 15 years. “He sees the show at the very end when it’s a show, all edited together.”

The 54-year-old Australian actress added that Urban has “fresh eyes” when it comes to her filming her movie and television roles because “he doesn’t read any script, he really doesn’t know what’s going on on the set.”

“He’s got his own career that he’s completely absorbed in,” the Academy Award winner cracked. “He doesn’t know much about what I’m really doing.”

The pair wed in 2006 and share two daughters, 13-year-old Sunday Rose and 10-year-old Faith Margaret.

Nicole stars in the upcoming Nine Perfect Strangers, set to premiere on Hulu on August 18.

Texans QB Deshaun Watson ‘unlikely to play” in preseason opener

(HOUSTON) — Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is “unlikely to play” in the team’s first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, head coach David Culley announced Tuesday.

Culley told reporters they will decide later in the week if he’ll play.

“It’s based off the fact that [he’s had] limited reps in practice,” Culley said.

According to ESPN, Houston general manager Nick Caserio told Houston’s SportsRadio 610 he does not expect Watson to travel to Green Bay.

When asked if he expects Watson to play during the preseason Culley said “No comment.”

Watson practiced for the first five days of training camp, then missed the next five practices. He returned to practice on Monday and Tuesday, according to ESPN.

In January, the quarterback asked for a trade from the team.

Watson is also facing 22 lawsuits alleging sexual assault or inappropriate behavior.

Jack White announces London Third Man Records store & headquarters

Jack White is going London calling.

The White Stripes frontman has announced the opening of a Third Man Records store in the English capital city. It’ll be the label’s first international physical location, and third overall, joining shops in White’s birthplace of Detroit and his adopted hometown of Nashville.

Third Man Records London will feature two levels of retail space and a live performance venue dubbed The Blue Basement. It’ll also serve as TMR’s European headquarters.

To celebrate the store’s grand opening on September 25, Third Man is putting out a series of exclusive new releases from U.K. artists including The Jesus and the Mary Chain, Paul Weller and Gina Birch of The Raincoats. The pieces will be available at all three TMR physical stores and online, though special limited edition yellow vinyl versions will be exclusive to the London location.

We’d tell you to alert the Queen of England, but then again, she already knows about it.

The Kid LAROI is thrilled he’s number one…and that he’s COVID-19-free

The Kid LAROI had both good news and bad news yesterday, but then it suddenly became all good.

When the Australian rapper found out Monday that he was number one on the Billboard 100 with “Stay,” he also posted a video announcing that he and his girlfriend had COVID-19. But then, about 20 seconds into the video, you see him announce that he’s just received a text stating that he was now COVID-19-free.

“Wow that’s so crazy just got the text I’m now COVID free now as well lol. God works in mysterious ways,” he tweeted.

On Instagram, he posted an image of the Billboard Hot 100 with his song at number one, and then wrote a lengthy caption expressing how grateful he is for being able to say he’s topped the chart in the U.S.

“WOAH. number f**king 1!!! first of all, thank you to every single one of you mfs for streaming, buying and supporting the f**ck out of this record & thank you to my brother @justinbieber for being apart of this and going so hard for me constantly,” he wrote.

“This is not only a big moment for me, but a really big moment for Australia. growing up all I ever wanted to do was ‘make it big’ in America and show everyone what we have to offer,” he continued.

He concluded. “I LOVE YOU I LOVE I LOVE YOU ALL FAM AND AGAIN THANK YOU SO F**KIN MUCH. NONE OF WHAT I DO IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT YOU!!!!”

He also reposted his “Stay” duet partner Justin Bieber‘s Instagram Story, in which the “Peaches” singer wrote, “Congrats bro thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. ur the one.”

‘West Side Story’ to permanently close on Broadway due to COVID-19 pandemic

The Broadway lights are permanently going dark for West Side Story, a contemporary revival of the beloved musical that opened in February of last year.

The New York Post reports that the decision to pull the plug on the reboot was announced by producer Kate Horton, who confirmed the musical will not return when Broadway reopens.

“This difficult and painful decision comes after we have explored every possible path to a successful run, and unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, reopening is not a practical proposition,” she said. “We thank all the brilliant, creative artists who brought West Side Story to life at the Broadway Theatre, even for so brief a time.”

Prior to shuttering amid the global pandemic on March 12, 2020, the latest interpretation of West Side Story ran for only a handful of performances and previews.

The original West Side Story, created by the legendary Leonard Bernstein in 1957, was revived three other times — in 1964, 1980 and 2009 — before its latest iteration, which took the characters into the present.

The 2020 revival cut the famous song “I Feel Pretty” and had the music and choreography lean more heavily on hip-hop and Latin influences.

Despite the musical’s cancellation, fans of West Side Story will soon be able to see the timeless tale of Tony and Maria in theaters. The Stephen Spielberg-produced film, starring Rita Moreno, Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort, premieres December 10.

Other musicals not returning to Broadway following the pandemic are Frozen, Beetlejuice and Mean Girls. Broadway is set to reopen for business next month.

McDonald’s launches the Saweetie Meal that comes with special “Saweetie ‘N Sour sauce”

Saweetie unleashed her brand-new collaboration on Monday — the exclusive McDonald’s Saweetie Meal.

Following in the steps of BTS, J Balvin and Travis Scott, who also teamed with the hamburger chain to launch their own exclusive meals, the “Best Friend” rapper’s meal is stuffed to the brim with her favorite childhood eats from Mickey D’s.

The Saweetie Meal comes with a Big Mac, four-piece McNuggets, medium fries, BBQ sauce and limited edition “Saweetie ‘N Sour sauce” that’s embossed with a glittering diamond on the green peel-away cover. The combo meal also comes with a medium Sprite.

Report: New ruling orders Kelly Clarkson to pay majority of kids’ education costs

Last month, Kelly Clarkson was ordered to pay her soon-to-be-ex-husband Brandon Blackstock almost $200,000 dollars a month in spousal support. Now it appears she’ll also be the one to take care of her children’s pricey school tuition.

TMZ reports that new docs, that were filed Monday, shows additional responsibilities Kelly will have pay for, including the lion’s share of her children River and Remington‘s education. The judge ordered the singer to pay 70 percent of the tuition for their private school and related expenses.

The papers also revealed that the American Idol winner rakes in roughly $1.5 million a month, while Brandon’s monthly income is far less: $10,000 per month.

According to TMZ, a judge also ruled Monday that Kelly won’t have to foot the bill for their Montana home, which costs about $81,000 a month to maintain. This upholds a previous court decision made last month. The responsibility of paying the ranch’s bills fall to Blackstock, who is the primary owner of the residence.

Kelly and Brandon wed in 2013 and went their separate ways in June 2020, sparking a bitter divorce battle. Legal papers obtained by ABC News showed that, Kelly must pay Blackstock $150,000 per month while their divorce is sorted out, and an additional $45,601 per month in child support for River and Remy, who are seven and five, respectively.

Fires continue to rip through Greek island as residents, other countries jump in to help

(NEW YORK) — Greek residents waited out the wildfires through the night on Sunday, after being evacuated on a ferry off the coast of Pefki, a town in the north of Evia.

In a televised address, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that 586 fires broke out in the last few days after temperatures reached 113 degrees in one of the worst heat waves the country has seen in more than three decades.

Firefighters were still struggling to extinguish the blazes Monday on Evia island, one of the hardest-hit areas. Twenty countries, including the U.S., have been sending in firetrucks, reconnaissance support and manpower to Greece, according to Geoffrey Pyatt, the U.S. ambassador to Greece.

“In response to a request for support from the government of Greece, I am grateful that the U.S. European Command’s Navy component, part of the U.S. Naval Forces Europe, is providing a P-8 aerial reconnaissance aircraft to support firefighting efforts,” Pyatt said in a statement.

Mitsotakis apologized for the “weaknesses” of the fire response, saying the wildfires made “obvious that the climate crisis is knocking on the door of the whole planet.”

“It’s a shame,” one volunteer firefighter told ABC News. “This morning, there was nothing. Now there are two helicopters since 5 p.m.,” the volunteer said, deploring the lack of resources to fight the fires.

On Monday evening, five firefighting trucks and water tankers from Slovakia arrived on the island of Evia to support the local fire brigades.

Hundreds of volunteers are organizing rescue and support for stranded villagers and evacuees.

“If it weren’t for them, the young men … we would have burned,” Gianna Anastasiou, a restaurant owner on Evia island told ABC News. Her village has been cut off for days, without electricity and running water.

A volunteer firefighter and her family saved 12 pets from the fires that tore through Evia, as some were left behind during evacuations.

“This one is a survivor,” 27 year-old Eva Karakassi told ABC News, pointing to one kitten that was rescued from a burning house by a firefighter on Sunday morning.

The pets and their saviors spent the night on the beach, as villages around the island are still in danger from the flames. Over 2,700 residents have been evacuated from the island of Evia, according to the Hellenic coast guard, and the island is under a constant cloud of smoke.

Greek authorities announced that 500 million euros would be spent on these areas.

“It’s not over yet,” Anastasiou said, fighting through tears and thanking the residents from all over Greece for sending supplies to the affected villages.
