Judas Priest‘s classic 1982 album Screaming for Vengeance celebrates its 40th anniversary next year, and in conjunction with the milestone, the metal legends are partnering with Z2 Comics on a graphic novel inspired by the landmark record.

Judas Priest: Screaming for Vengeance, which is expected to be released in July 2022, is being co-written by Rantz Hoseley and Neil Kleid, known for their work, respectively, on The Heroin Diaries and Savor, with illustrations by Hellboy artist Christopher Mitten.

The novel takes place 500 years in the future and focuses on a naïve engineer who lives in a ring of cities that orbit a desolate planet and are governed by an elite group of cruel rulers. When the engineer discovers an item called a Bloodstone that threatens the rulers’ power, he’s exiled to the planet’s surface, where he must either accept his fate or seek vengeance on his adversaries.

“I was already a fan of the band, when Screaming for Vengeance was released, but no one was ready for the impact it had,” says Hoseley. “That incredible cover art? Those songs? That album became my daily soundtrack and creative fuel…To be able to contribute to a project inspired by these songs…is an honor and a responsibility I take very seriously.”

The book, which you can pre-order now, will be available in hardcover and softcover, as well as deluxe and super-deluxe versions featuring an exclusive Screaming for Vengeance vinyl LP, prints and other items, including a collectible figure based on the metallic eagle that appears on the cover, aka “The Hellion.”

Released in July 1982, Screaming for Vengeance has been certified double=Platinum by the RIAA, making it Priest’s best-selling album in the U.S. It features the band’s classic song “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.”

Mariah Carey reveals why she goes all out during the holidays

Mariah Carey is nearly synonymous with Christmas thanks to her music, television specials, recipes, merchandise and, of course, all those festive memes.  But, in a new interview, the singer opened up about why she continues to make the holidays such a big deal.

She tells Entertainment Tonight that she was unable to enjoy the lavishness of Christmas when she was a child because she grew up in poverty.  But, instead of becoming bitter over what she didn’t have, it fueled her desire to make Christmas even more special.

“In my memoir [The Meaning of Mariah Carey,] I talk about how when I was a little kid, growing up with no money, growing up being mixed, not understanding, having identity issues, and then going through my career and the different things that have happened, that I never even talked about to even some of my best friends,” she confesses.  “When I wrote about Christmas, I was like, ‘Oh wait, I don’t want to bring people down,’ ’cause this seemed like depressing stuff that happened.”

Mariah says that has “motivated” her to “really go all the way in every Christmas, every year.”

And, while she “wants my kids to have the best time,” the pop star admits that, when it comes to indulging in the holidays, “A lot of it is for me.”

The late Michael K. Williams would have turned 55 years old Monday, and his Brooklyn, New York, neighborhood celebrated his memory with a block party. It was sponsored by the We Build the Block police reform organization, which the Lovecraft Country star helped found.

An Instagram video was posted of Williams standing on a rooftop, overlooking his community, and talking about his pride in coming back to “inspire the youth.”

“Michael’s favorite & most important role was being an active member of his community,” NYC Together and We Build the Block founder Dana Rachlin wrote in an Instagram post. “To honor his life & legacy [we’re] hosting a block activation that will elevate love, joy, & community.” The party featured live music, voter registration, and a Thanksgiving dinner giveaway. Williams passed away from an accidental overdose on September 6. He was 54

In other news, Porsha Williams reveals in her memoir, The Pursuit of Porsha: How I Grew into My Power and Purpose, that she was involved with R. Kelly in 2006. In her final trip to his Chicago home, Porsha recalls that she heard screaming, and the sounds of a woman being beaten, according to Variety. She demanded to leave, and says the “Bump ‘N Grind” singer continued to call her, but she told him, “I’m done with you.” The book will be published on November 30, two days after her new show, Porsha’s Family Matters, premieres on Bravo.

Finally, Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson will be honored with the Chairman’s Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards on January 6, 2022, for her starring role in the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect.

On Paramount+, the cast of the groundbreaking The Real World: Los Angeles reunites tomorrow, in The Real World Homecoming: Los Angeles.

Former reality-show stars Beth AnthonyBeth StolarczykDavid Edwards, Glen NaessensIrene Berrera-KearnsJon Brennan and Tami Roman are under the same roof of the same iconic Venice beach house from their series, which aired in 1993.

The Real World was groundbreaking for the time, and its Los Angeles season was only the long-running show’s second: It pioneered such reality-show staples as the “confessional,” rotating house guests, and more.

ABC Audio caught up with Jon and Irene to see what happened when people stopped being polite, and started getting real…again.

“It did start something different and new,” Irene said of the show. “And I think we have that bond that not too many people can say that they have.”

The cast have kept in touch over the years, she explained, but, “We don’t see each other very often, so when I did walk through the door and first saw [Jon], I mean, it was like I came back home.”

Jon recalled, “It’s definitely a crazy experience, and you walk down that sidewalk in 1993, and you get ready to walk into this house and there’s a camera pointed at you. None of us are movie stars or TV stars, so this is a really strange thing to happen to a young person. And, you know, you’re up for an adventure, so you just roll with it.”

He continued, “When we were doing it, we had no idea. We had the first season in New York to compare it to. But that was really it, and some of us hadn’t even seen that! And so it was uncharted territory.”

Rare Einstein manuscript on theory of relativity auctioned for over $15M in Paris

(LONDON) — A rare manuscript by Albert Einstein that changed the course of modern science was just sold for over 13.3 million euros (over $15 million), including fees, beating all predictions.

The 54-page, handwritten document outlines calculations that led to his theory of relativity. One of two existing copies went on sale at Christie’s auction house in Paris on Tuesday evening. It was expected to fetch $2.4 million to $3.5 million. The manuscript was being sold as part of a judicial sale, and had to be handled by a special judicial commissioner. It was bought over the phone by an anonymous buyer.

“This is without a doubt the most valuable Einstein manuscript ever to come to auction,” Christie’s said in a statement ahead of the sale.

The iconic German physicist co-wrote the manuscript with a lifelong friend, the Swiss engineer Michele Besso, in Zurich from June 1913 into early 1914, according to Christie’s, which is hosting the sale on behalf of Aguttes auction house.

Although this copy isn’t the final draft, the Einstein-Besso manuscript shows the trial and error that went into the calculations. When equations about the relativity of rotational movements proved correct, Einstein excitedly wrote in the margins of one of the pages, “Stimmt!” That’s German for, “It works!”

While the document contains mistakes, it ultimately led to Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which states that gravity is not a force happening between objects in space but rather a deformation of space and time geometry. The final theory was published in 1915, about a year after the Einstein-Besso manuscript.

The manuscript consists of 26 pages of Einstein’s handwriting, 25 pages of Besso’s and thjree pages that appear to have been written together. Some portions are crossed or torn out, and pages have rust stains, according to Christie’s, which described the document as depicting “a crucial stage in the development of the general theory of relativity.”

“Even today, in 2021, when we study cosmology, or even when we study fusions of black holes, gravitational waves, pulsars, we still use Einstein’s equations,” French astrophysicist Etienne Klein explained in a video on the Einstein-Besso manuscript, released by Christie’s ahead of the sale. “Over a century after being laid down on paper by Einstein, they are still the right equations for describing any gravitational phenomenon.”

Einstein and Besso met at a concert while both students at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, where Einstein studied physics and Besso engineering. Friends for life, Besso described their collaboration as one between an eagle (Einstein) and a sparrow (Besso), saying the sparrow could fly higher under the eagle’s wing, according to Carl Seelig’s 1956 biography of Einstein.

Einstein, who won the Nobel Prize in physics for 1921, was known for destroying most of his work. But Besso preserved the manuscript for posterity.

“A good scientist is someone who makes mistakes, discovers and corrects them,” Klein said in Christie’s catalogue of the sale.

(WAUKESHA, Wis.) — Six people were killed after an SUV driver plowed into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Sunday afternoon.

The sixth death, a child, was announced by prosecutors Tuesday. The child’s age and identity have not been released.

The 39-year-old suspect is in custody.

Here is what we know about the lives lost:

Tamara Durand, 52

Tamara Durand was dancing for the first time with the Dancing Grannies group at the parade, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

A former elementary school teacher, Durand recently turned her focus to watching her grandson several days a week so her daughter could attend nursing school, the newspaper said.

Durand’s husband, Dave Durand, said in a statement, “Tammy was a vibrant, loving and warm woman who we all miss deeply already. Her memory will bring joy to all who knew her.”

Jane Kulich, 52

Jane Kulich is survived by her husband, three children and grandchildren, said her niece, Desiree Kulich.

Kulich was family-oriented, her niece said, and went to church each Sunday and held a family game night on the weekends.

“My aunt Jane was one of those people that could be described as an angel on Earth. She was one of those people that you could tell anything to and not fear to be judged,” Desiree Kulich told ABC News via email.

“Family was always first,” she said. “The whole family feels robbed.”

Virginia Sorenson, 79

Virginia Sorenson was dancing with the Dancing Grannies at the parade, a group she had been with for 19 years.

She loved to dance and helped choreograph the group’s routines, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Sorenson was a registered nurse, grandmother and animal lover, caring at home for horses, chickens, dogs and cats, the Sentinel reported.

She leaves behind a husband of 56 years, the Sentinel reported.

Wilhelm Hospel, 81
LeAnna Owen, 71

Machine Gun Kelly wants to know “wtf is wrong with the Grammys”

Machine Gun Kelly is not happy with the Grammy nominations.

Following Tuesday’s announcement of who will be competing for a gramophone trophy in 2022, the “Bloody Valentine” rocker tweeted, “wtf is wrong with the Grammys.”

Kelly was presumably reacting to his own lack of nominations for his 2020 album, Tickets to My Downfall, which was shut out of both the rock categories and the general field. He previously expressed a desire for Tickets to be recognized by the Recording Academy, telling Variety, “If we got an album of the year nom in a day and age where people can’t help themselves but to say that rock is dead? [That would] show them how alive it is.”

While Tickets will not compete for a Grammy, Kelly can take solace in the album’s number-one Billboard 200 debut and its RIAA Platinum status. He also just took home an American Music Award last weekend for Favorite Rock Artist.

Perhaps presciently, Kelly tweeted, “Winning a fan voted award >>>>” following his AMA victory.

Don McLean is tipping his hat to Taylor Swift after the 31-year-old pop superstar broke the record that the veteran singer-songwriter set on the Billboard Hot 100 almost 50 years ago.

Since 1972, Don’s eight-minute, 34-second classic “American Pie (Parts I & II)” held the title for the lengthiest song to hit number one.  Well, that longstanding record was broken this week when Taylor’s 10-minute, 13-second song “All Too Well” bowed atop the Hot 100.

“There is something to be said for a great song that has staying power,” 76-year-old McLean said in a statement to ABC Audio. “‘American Pie’ remained on top for 50 years and now Taylor Swift has unseated such a historic piece of artistry. Let’s face it, nobody ever wants to lose that #1 spot, but if I had to lose it to somebody, I sure am glad it was another great singer/songwriter such as Taylor.”

Taylor’s 10-minute-plus recording of “All Too Well” is featured as a bonus track on Red (Taylor’s Version), which she released on November 12.

15 massive balloons will float through New York City when the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade returns on November 25.  Among the prestigious crowd will be a jumbo-sized Greg Heffley, star of the Diary of a Wimpy Kids book series.

This year will mark Greg’s 12th appearance overall and author Jeff Kinney let ABC Audio know what it’s like to watch a massive, 62-foot tall version of his character parade through the Big Apple.

“It’s really cool. It’s something that is almost indescribable because it’s such a big presence,” the bestselling author marveled. “When you’re there and your balloon’s towering above you, it almost feels too big to take in all at once.”

While not many can say they’ve watched their creations fly through the streets of Manhattan, even fewer can boast having two balloons.  The Greg Heffley balloon fans will see this Thanksgiving is the newest edition, which replaced the original in 2016.

Kinney said it is a “privilege” to be honored by the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and added, “I can’t lie. It’s something that’s been really, really fun and a great part of my life.”

So, what was it like for him to stand among the crowds and watch Greg float by?

“It’s really funny,” Kinney remarked. “The kids are always looking at what’s on the horizon, right? So, by the time you actually get to [Greg], they’ve been seeing [the balloon] for 15 minutes. They’re on to Smurfette five blocks down, rounding the corner. So, it really is this funny thing where people are like, ‘Yeah, all right. Gotcha. What’s next?'”

The 95th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade steps off on Thursday, November 25, at 9 a.m. ET on NBC.  To see a list of all the floats, balloons, marching bands and special appearances, visit the official website.
