By now, Marvel fans might rightly feel their Spidey senses tingle whenever Sony Pictures’ Amy Pascal makes predictions about future projects. The producer made headlines by telling Fandango, “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three…”

While it was welcome news to fans, studio industry insiders have pumped the brakes,

“Sony insiders note though the studio has a strong relationship with Holland and [Marvel Studios head KevinFeige and hopes to continue their collaboration, there are no official plans for a trilogy at this phase,” The Hollywood Reporter insists.

This wouldn’t be the first time Pascal has jumped the gun in an interview with regards to Sony’s collaboration with Disney-owned Marvel Studios. During a 2017 interview alongside Feige, Pascal incorrectly stated Venom, and another, since scrapped film project, were part of the MCU. Feige’s nonplussed reaction spawned a meme.

Incidentally, the new book The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe reveals Pascal initially didn’t take too kindly to Feige’s advice for collaborating, and rebooting Spider-Man with Holland as the lead, after the poor performance of the solely-Sony-produced The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield.

Pascal recalled, “I think I started crying and threw him out of my office, or threw a sandwich at him — I’m not sure which.”

What is assured, at least, is that the studios’ latest collaboration, Spider-Man: No Way Home debuts Dec. 17.

Olivia Rodrigo took home several major honors at the third annual Apple Music Awards.  The winners, who were selected based on their global influence, will be honored in a ceremony later next month.

Olivia snagged three trophies: Breakthrough Artist of the Year,  Album of the Year for SOUR, and Song of the Year, for “drivers license.”  The 18-year-old singer called the honor “truly surreal” and declared, “I did my first interview for ‘drivers license’ with Apple Music, and so much has happened since then.”

The Weeknd was awarded the coveted Global Artist of the Year, with Apple singling out the massive success of his After Hours album.  The service also highlighted the singer for creating one of the most-Shazamed moments of the year with his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.  The Weeknd said he is “so grateful” for the recognition.

Apple Music also named H.E.R. Songwriter of the Year and lauded her Back of My Mind album, as well as her Oscar-winning anthem “Fight for You,” which she co-wrote, co-produced and co-composed for Judas and the Black Messiah.  H.E.R. said she is “honored and blessed” by the recognition because, “As a young Black and Filipino artist, and a woman who is on the stage giving my all, there’s no doubt that representation is important.”

Five international artists, hailing from Africa, France, Germany, Japan and Russia, were honored with Regional Artist of the Year awards for the impact they had on their home countries. Wizkid, who hails from Africa, is the artist behind the Grammy-nominated song “Essence.”

Apple Music will celebrate its winners starting Tuesday, December 7 by streaming interviews and original content.

ABC News

(NEW YORK) — A bitter cold is gripping the South with states from Florida to Georgia experiencing wind chills in the 30s.

The wind chill — what temperature it feels like — plunged Tuesday morning to 24 degrees in Raleigh and 31 degrees in Atlanta, Charleston and Montgomery.

A freeze warning has been issued as far south as Tallahassee, where the actual temperature fell to 30 degrees.

The wind chill dropped Tuesday morning to 15 degrees in Boston and 25 degrees in New York City.

Milder air will thaw the East Coast by Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures are expected to reach the middle to upper 50s for Boston and New York City and near 60 degrees in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Meanwhile, on the West Coast, more heavy rain is expected for Washington state and Oregon, where some areas could see 3 to 6 inches over the next few days.

Two weeks ago, over 1 foot of rain pummeled the Pacific Northwest within days, bringing rivers into major flood stages and flooding roads and neighborhoods.

New ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ trailer hints at the bounty hunter’s story of survival

New ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ trailer hints at the bounty hunter’s story of survival
Lucasfilm/Disney+

new trailer for Disney+’s upcoming The Book of Boba Fett series hints at an important chapter: How he cheated death after the events of 1983’s Return of the Jedi.

As most Star Wars fans can tell you, Fett ended up in the belly of a sandpit-dwelling creature known as a sarlacc, as the heroes escaped the clutches of Jabba the Hutt in that film. But The Mandalorian brought Boba back from the dead, and Star Wars prequel star Temuera Morrison to fill his spike-tipped boots.

Some glimpses in the new trailer shows we might get to see how he escaped. Morrison is shown submerged in a healing fluid filled bath known as a bacta tank — the same therapy Luke Skywalker used after his run-in with a wampa in The Empire Strikes Back — and the new clip hints the desert planet’s natives, the Sand People, might have scooped him up when he was “left for dead in the sands of Tatooine.”

As previously reported, The Book of Boba Fett will track Boba’s rebirth from bounty hunter to crime lord, taking over Jabba’s empire.

Incidentally, Star Wars creator George Lucas has admitted regret in unceremoniously “killing off” Boba, not knowing at the time the character would become a fan favorite — despite having just four lines of dialog between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

The Book of Boba Fett debuts on Disney+ December 29. Disney is the parent company of ABC News.

A Los Angeles home belonging to Marilyn Manson was searched by the LA County Sheriff’s Department, Rolling Stone reports.

A source from the LASD tells Rolling Stone, “What I can confirm is there was a search warrant that was served [Monday] morning. It’s confirmed it was [Manson’s] address, his location. It was a search warrant for his belongings.”

The warrant was executed amid allegations of physical, emotional and sexual abuse against the rocker, born Brian Warner, from multiple women, including his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood, actor Esmé Bianco, model Ashley Morgan Smithline, and Warner’s former assistant, Ashley Walters.

Warner, who’s facing multiple lawsuits, has denied the allegations.

Alessia Cara was Jimmy Fallon‘s guest on Monday’s The Tonight Show, and also joined Fallon for the latest edition of his “Musical Genre Challenge.”

The game featured Fallon and Alessia singing popular tunes in different musical styles. For example, Alessia delivered Doja Cat‘s “Kiss Me More” in the style of a 1960s folk song, and Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI‘s song “Stay” as a jazz/swing tune.

Jimmy gave BTS‘ “Butter” an ’80s new wave twist and the Spider-Man theme a ’60s British invasion spin.

While chatting with Fallon, Alessia discussed her new Christmas single, “Jingle Bell Rock,” available on Amazon Music. As to why she chose that song over the many other holiday standards, she explained that while she normally gravitates to the more melancholy tunes, a “jolly and happy” song is what we all need right now. However, there was another reason she picked it.

“I wanted to sing the line, ‘Giddy-up jingle horse.” says Alessia, noting, “It makes you laugh, like, what is a jingle horse?”

The 25-year-old “Shapeshifter” singer also discussed her first band, formed with her cousins, called The Lilacs — “We performed very small venues like my living room, my family’s living room,” she recalled — and her acting turn in season two of Amazon’s Yearly Departed, alongside Jane Fonda, Chelsea Peretti, Meg Stalter, Dulcé Sloan, Aparna Nancherla, X Mayo and host Yvonne Orji.

Alessia will perform “Jingle Bell Rock, as well as her own song, “Make It to Christmas,” on NBC’s annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center, airing on Wednesday.

Rihanna has been declared a National Hero by her home country of Barbados.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer received the island nation’s high honor Monday night at the Pride of Nationhood ceremony in Bridgetown.

“May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your works, by your actions,” Prime Minister Mia Mottley told the singer, referencing her 2012 hit “Diamonds.”

Rihanna becomes just the second woman to receive the National Hero honor, and the 11th person overall. She can now use the title of Right Honorable in front of her name.

At the same ceremony Monday, Barbados formally cut ties with the U.K. and removed Queen Elizabeth II as head of state. In doing so, Barbados becomes the world’s newest republic.

Adele announces Las Vegas residency kicking off in January

After telling Rolling Stone that she wasn’t going to do a Las Vegas residency because there were no venues available for her, Adele has gone ahead and — yep — announced a Las Vegas residency.

The superstar’s new show, titled Weekends with Adele, will take place at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, formerly the residency home of her idol, Celine Dion.  The shows kick off January 21, 2022, with Adele performing two shows each weekend through Saturday, April 16.

You can access the pre-sale tickets for the shows by registering with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan® program. Registration is open now through midnight on Thursday, December 2. The presale itself will start Tuesday, December 7 at 1 p.m. ET.  If demand for tickets exceeds the supply, there won’t be a public on-sale at all, so this is your best bet.

Adele also told Rolling Stone that she didn’t want to do a regular tour, due to uncertainties about COVID-19. A Vegas residency would allow her to control the situation more easily, and since she lives in Los Angeles, flying in and out would make it easy on her — pun intended — since she wouldn’t have to leave her son, Angelo, for long periods of time.

Here are the dates for Weekends with Adele:

January 21/22
January 28/29
February 4/5
February 11/12
February 25/26
March 4/5
March 11/12
March 18/19
March 25/26
April 1/2
April 8/9
April 15/16

Bradley Cooper recalls being “held up at knifepoint” at NYC subway

(NOTE LANGUAGE) Describing what seems like a scene from a movie, Bradley Cooper reveals he was held at gunpoint on a New York City subway.

During Monday’s episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, the 46-year-old actor and filmmaker recounted the terrifying incident.

“I used to walk around New York City all the time with these [headphones] on — this was pre-pandemic — I was on the subway [at] 11:45 to pick up [his daughter] Lea downtown at Russian school and I got held up at knifepoint. It was pretty insane,” Cooper began.

Cooper said that he was “all the way at the end of the subway” when he felt someone’s presence.

“I thought, Oh, they want to take a photo or something,” he continued. “As I turned, I’m up against the post like it’s the French Connection or some s***, and I turned. I looked down and I see a knife.”

The five-time Academy Award nominee shared that he couldn’t “hear anything” because he had headphones but recalled being taken by how “young” the person looked.

Explaining how he got out of the situation, Cooper recalled, “I just started booking, just started running. I jumped over the turnstile, hid around the white, tiled entrance to the subway [and] took my phone out. He jumped over, running away. I took a photo of him. Then I chased him up the stairs. He started running up 7th Avenue. I took two more photographs of him.”

Eventually, Cooper was able to flag down two officers, who told him to check to make sure he hadn’t been  stabbed.

“What happens is people get stabbed and they’re in shock. I looked to see if he was right,” he said. “And then I got back on the subway and picked up my daughter.”
