Want to watch the Oscar-nominated documentary Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised), but don’t have Hulu or Disney+? You’re in luck.

The acclaimed film, which documents the six-week-long, star-studded 1969 New York City event The Harlem Cultural Festival, will have its broadcast television premiere on Sunday, February 20, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

The festival, the tapes of which sat on a shelf for decades, featured a huge lineup of soul, blues, Latin, jazz, gospel and R&B stars. Among the artists you’ll see performing in the film are Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Mahalia Jackson, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Sly and the Family Stone, The 5th Dimension, The Staple Singers, B.B. King and The TemptationsDavid Ruffin and more.

In related news, while a digital and CD version of the movie’s soundtrack is out now, an expanded two-LP version of the album will be released on June 17. It includes 17 songs selected by the documentary’s director, drummer Questlove of The Roots. Target will offer a single-LP version pressed on red vinyl. You can pre-order both now.

Issa Rae will be honored with the Producer’s Guild of America’s 2022 Visionary Award next month.  The award is given to producers who “share inspiring, uplifting stories that add unique value to society and culture.” The Insecure creator will get her award March 19 at the 33rd Annual Producers Guild Awards.

Earlier this week, Nick Cannon received a surprise Valentine’s Day gift: a vending machine full of condoms. It was later revealed that Kevin Hart sent Cannon, who’s expecting his eighth child, the prank present. Now, Cannon tells Entertainment Tonight, “One thing that was brilliant about [the prank], it was the mystery of it, because I had some baby mama drama: ‘Who sent you that? Who sent you that?'”  But, he added, “When [Hart] came out and said it was him, everybody relaxed.”

The fifth season of Raven-Symoné‘s show Raven’s Home will premiere March 11 on Disney Channel and Disney Now. The season finds Raven and her son Booker moving back to San Francisco after her dad suffers a mild heart attack. Rondell Sheridan will reprise his role as Raven’s dad Victor, while Adrienne Bailon-Houghton will return as Alana, Raven’s arch-nemesis.

Poet Amanda Gorman is the cover star of ELLE’s March issue.  She tells the magazine, “As a Black female poet, I think so many people expected my poems to be angry…I’m like, yes, I have the right to be angry. But I wanted to really have freedom to speak with hope in the same way that white male poets get to do. Why can’t that voice of a people, a generation, come from someone who looks like me?”

The new issue of People features a 21-page special tribute to late Black icons by the family members who knew them best. Among those participating: Martin Luther King Jr.’s son, Whitney Houston‘s cousin Dionne Warwick, and more.

proud posting of the latest star re-created by the artists of Madame Tussauds in London has some Zendaya fans crying foul.

The wax figure is dressed and posed in a hot pink Stella McCartney suit Zendaya wore at a 2016 red carpet Humane Society of the United States event. However, some critics are saying no way to the representation of the Spider-Man: No Way Home star’s likeness.

“Zendaya deserved better,” opined one fan

“How does this both look like her and look nothing like her at the same time???” griped another

“[W]hat in the kylie jenner?” another snarked.

“Lmao that’s not zendaya, it’s more like stormi in future,” said yet another fan, referencing Kylie Jenner‘s 4-year-old daughter with Travis Scott.

“The wax version of Zendaya looks like she wants to speak to the manager,” another offered of the replica’s nonplussed expression.

In 2020, Zendaya herself visited Toussads in London and posed with a pair of her wax stand-ins, calling them “pretty fabulous.”

Miranda Lambert scored five 2022 ACM Awards nominations this week, making her one of the events most-nominated artists.

Among her nods is an Album of the Year nomination courtesy of The Marfa Tapes, her acoustic project with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram, which the trio recorded around a campfire during a five-day stay in Marfa, Texas.

“I am so humbled by the industry’s recognition of the music we’re making,” Miranda says. “…Receiving acknowledgement like this only furthers the permission we give ourselves to be vulnerable and stretch beyond our comfort zones.”

Another marquee nomination for Miranda comes via her Female Artist of the Year nomination. She’s now been nominated in that category 16 times, tying with Reba McEntire for the most-nominated Female Artist at the ACMs.

Miranda’s also up for the awards show’s most coveted honor, Entertainer of the Year. In that category, she’ll go head to head with Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs.

The 2022 ACMs will stream live from Las Vegas on March 7, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Dave Chappelle can sell out huge venues, so it was a surprise to some when he took the mic with other residents at a local city council meeting.

But Dave wasn’t joking when he addressed the Village Council of Yellow Springs, Ohio, over a development plan in the town in which he’s heavily invested.

According to the Dayton Daily News, critics — Chappelle included — claim the building company, Oberer, added low-income housing to an already-approved building development plan for the township.

Simply put, Dave and many of the other residents there weren’t having it.

“Hi, I’m Dave Chappelle,” the comic said, after waiting his turn to speak. “I just wanna say…I don’t know why the village council is afraid of litigation from a $24 million-a-year company,” referring to Oberer, “when it’s out a $65 million-a-year company,” Dave said, referring to his Iron Table Holdings company.

“I cannot believe you would make me audition for you!” Chappelle blasted the council members. “You look like clowns.”

Chappelle added forcefully, “I am not bluffing. I will take it all off the table!”

According to the paper, Dave’s company, Iron Table Holdings LLC, bought the former Miami Township fire station in December, and he planned to build a restaurant there called Firehouse Eatery, and a comedy club called Live from YS.

In the end, Dave and the other critics were successful: The builders’ plan to add acreage for the affordable housing was defeated. Instead, 143 single-family homes priced starting at $300,000 will be built in the village, as planned.

Doja Cat embraces the power of rock in new Taco Bell Super Bowl ad

What happens when you mix Doja Cat with a Courtney Love song?  You get Taco Bell’s next Super Bowl ad.  The Grammy nominee takes on Hole‘s haunting rock tune “Celebrity Skin” for the advertisement and fully flexes her vocal prowess on the cover.

The ad, which is streaming now on YouTube, finds Doja stuck in a school for clowns that’s constantly bombarded by an announcement that “the ice cream machine is still broken” — a thinly veiled shot at Taco Bell’s fast food rival McDonald’s.  Doja and her fellow clowns soon find an escape from the monotony, which is soundtracked by her version of “Celebrity Skin.”

Taco Bell also released a behind-the-scenes video that features clips of Doja recording her take on the 1998 hit and of her goofing off on set, as well as portions of the advertisement.  While the video contains her cover in full, it is set to be officially released this Friday.

Those familiar with the track may notice some of the lyrics are different in this updated version, and that’s because they were “reworked in partnership” with Love, according to a press release.

The Super Bowl and it’s impressive lineup of star-powered commercials airs this Sunday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

When the 2022 ACMs nominees list arrived on Thursday morning, Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde both got multiple mentions.

They’re going head to head in the Female Artist of the Year category, and both artists agree it’s an honor to be in the mix alongside such talented women. “There’s nothing better than celebrating alongside all the powerhouse female artists in this category,” says Ashley.

For Carly, inclusion in this category is extra special, because she shares quite a bit of history with one of the 2022 ACMs co-hosts: Dolly Parton. “All those years in the shows at Dollywood, you’d imagine…but maybe never truly dream,” says Carly, who cut her teeth as a Dollywood performer. “To be nominated this year with Dolly hosting? It’s beyond a dream.”

Carly and Ashley are more than just competitors: Their duet, “Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” is up for Video of the Year and Music Event of the Year, too.

“What a treat to be nominated with my friend Carly,” adds Ashley. “Thank you to the fans for listening to our stories and for sharing yours in return. These moments wouldn’t exist without you.”

The 2022 ACM Awards will stream live from Las Vegas at 8 p.m. ET on March 7 on Amazon Prime Video. Along with Dolly, Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett are co-hosting the show.

Warner Music UK

Foals has released a new song called “2am.”

The track will appear on the U.K. band’s upcoming album, which now has a title: Life Is Yours. The follow-up to 2019’s two-part Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost is set to drop this summer, exact date TBA. Life Is Yours also will feature the previously released single “Wake Me Up.”

“Musically ‘2am’ is one of the poppiest songs we’ve ever written,” says frontman Yannis Philippakis.

“It’s about repetitive cycles of destructive behavior, which I think lots of people can relate to, and certainly it’s an expression of something that I struggle with,” he adds. “There’s something cathartic about expressing that feeling to this upbeat music that’s got a sense of release and the hope of resolution.”

You can listen to and download “2am” now via digital outlets.

Video footage was circulating online Thursday of DaBaby delivering a bowling alley beatdown to Brandon Bills, the brother of the rapper’s ex, DaniLeigh.

In a video posted to YouTube, DaBaby and his crew can be seen attacking Bills across several slippery bowling lanes at the Los Angeles establishment as bystanders shout and film on their cell phones. The FADER reports DaBaby is now being investigated for assault.

DaniLeigh, who shares a daughter with DaBaby, responded to the fight on her Instagram Story, writing, “Lame as hell!!!! Running up on my brother on some slippery a** floors with 5/6 of ya boys while he’s by himself and not even touching him!!!”

“Lame and soooo sad!!!” she continued. “I pray this stops now !!! BC this is my family! and I got a daughter to raise. Sad.”

DaniLeigh’s post was captured by the Shade Room before she apparently deleted her Instagram account entirely.

Bills also spoke out about the altercation on his Instagram Live, saying he tried to talk to DaBaby “like a man” and that he was “jumped.”

For some backstory on the bad blood, DaBaby called the cops on DaniLeigh back in November, resulting in her being charged with two counts of simple assault. Bills later challenged DaBaby to a fight if he ever came to the West Coast.
