The news of Lori Harvey and Michael B. Jordan‘s split shocked the entertainment world over the weekend after People reported that the pair had called it quits after a year and a half of dating. New developments by the magazine say that the 25-year-old beauty entrepreneur “wasn’t ready to commit” to Jordan.

According to an update shared by People on Monday, a source close to Harvey says that while she and Jordan “were making plans for their future,” Harvey “realized that they weren’t on the same page.”

The source says “she is very focused on her career” and that she “still wants to have fun and be free.”

“Michael is a great guy. She is sad that their relationship didn’t work out, but she is moving on,” says the source.

Harvey, who is the daughter of Steve and Marjorie Harvey, recently cleared her Instagram page of photos of her and Jordan. The two celebrated their one-year anniversary in November 2021 after making their relationship Instagram official in January.

Jordan has yet to comment about the breakup and as of Monday morning still had photos of them on his Instagram. The Creed actor was spotted out at the Celtics vs. Warriors NBA Finals game in San Francisco on Sunday night.

When initial rumors broke on Saturday, an insider told People of the split, “Michael and Lori are both completely heartbroken,” adding that “they still love each other.”

New Jersey’s favorite son joined Coldplay during the British band’s concert at East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium on Sunday night.

The one and only Bruce Springsteen took the stage alongside Chris Martin and company for performances of the Boss’s 2009 song “Working on a Dream” and his 1984 smash “Dancing in the Dark.”

“Working on a Dream” is a particularly meaningful song for Martin, who has the song’s title tattooed on his arm.

“Like Chris said, he’s had this song tattooed on his arm for a while, so I guess I’ve got to sing it,” Springsteen told the cheering crowd before launching into the tune.

You can watch fan-shot footage of the collaboration streaming now on YouTube.

Coldplay is currently on tour supporting its latest album Music of the Spheres, which was released in October. The trek continues Wednesday in Philadelphia. As for Springsteen, he kicks off a recently announced 2023 European tour with his E Street Band on April 28 in Barcelona, Spain.

With his defamation case victory over ex-wife Amber Heard in the rearview mirror — despite the Aquaman actress’s vow to appeal — the movie industry is speculating about what’s on the horizon for Johnny Depp.

One former Disney executive tells People a pirate ship might just break through the fog with Depp’s beloved Jack Sparrow at the helm once again.

“There is just too much potential box-office treasure” to be had, the unnamed executive explains to the magazine.

“With [Pirates of the Caribbean series producer] Jerry Bruckheimer riding high on the massive success of Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, there is huge appetite for bringing back bankable Hollywood stars in massively popular franchises.”

Box Office Mojo says the movie series has snagged nearly $4.5 billion in box office booty since it launched in 2003, with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl making more than $654 million worldwide.

Its sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, became the series biggest earner, making over a billion bucks.

So what’s next for the franchise after 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales?

As viewers of the recent trial witnessed, plans for a sixth film with Depp at the helm were scuttled after Depp’s messy divorce from Heard, and the English trial that brought to light accusations of abuse from both stars.

Officially, there are a pair of films set in the Pirates universe in the works, according to Bruckheimer.

The blockbuster-minting producer tells the U.K.’s Sunday Times, “We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two Pirates scripts — one with her, one without.”

So will Jack Sparrow return? “Not at this point,” Bruckheimer says, but allows, “The future is yet to be decided.”

Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey, who recently witnessed his hometown of Uvalde, Texas, become the latest site of a school shooting, has had enough.

In an op-ed to the Austin American-Stateman, McConaughey opens by calling himself “a father and a gun owner, the son of a kindergarten teacher, and a Texan from Uvalde.”

He says, “I believe that responsible, law-abiding Americans have a Second Amendment right, enshrined by our founders, to bear arms. I also believe we have a cultural obligation to take steps toward slowing down the senseless killing of our children.”

The actor argues, “The debate about gun control has delivered nothing but status quo. It’s time we talk about gun responsibility.”

“There is a difference between control and responsibility,” McConaughey says.

“The first is a mandate that can infringe on our right; the second is a duty that will preserve it. There is no constitutional barrier to gun responsibility. Keeping firearms out of the hands of dangerous people is not only the responsible thing to do, it is the best way to protect the Second Amendment. We can do both.”

The actor and activist says, “Depraved acts of violence, with guns as the weapon of choice, are ripping apart families, testing people’s faith, and tearing at the fabric of society.”

There is an “epidemic…of deranged individuals killing indiscriminately, parents burying their children, of inaction and buck-passing,” the actor says.

He adds, “Saving lives is not a partisan issue. Responsible Americans must step up.”

McConaughey says he and his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, “have seen it with our own eyes in my hometown…where parents are attending their own children’s funerals. We are all mourning.”

The celebrity couple recently created the Uvalde Relief Fund through their Just Keep Livin’ nonprofit.

The Doobie Brothers recently postponed five U.S. concerts that were part of their ongoing 50th anniversary tour because several members of the band’s touring party tested positive for COVID-19.

Mariah Carey faces copyright lawsuit over “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

Can artists copyright a song title? We’ll find out when Mariah Carey heads to court over a lawsuit that claims someone else had dibs on the title “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

The Washington Post reports songwriter Andy Stone — who is better known by his stage name Vince Vance — is suing Mariah and her co-writer, Walter Afanasieff, for $20 million in damages. He is arguing they infringed on his copyright because he wrote a song with the same exact title in 1989 — five years before Mariah unleashed her Christmas classic.

Vance alleges the track was released as part of his band Vince Vance & The Valiants and received “extensive airplay during the 1993 Christmas season.” He also said it appeared on the Billboard charts. While these songs do share a title, there are no similarities in their respective melodies or song lyrics.

Vance argues neither Mariah nor Afanasieff “sought or obtained permission” to repurpose his song title and that he reached out to both in April 2021 for them to make it right. He later followed up in December 2021 and claimed, “Even after communicating the concerns with Defendants, Plaintiff was unable to come to any agreement over usage of the ‘All I Want for Christmas is You.'”

It should be noted that while Mariah does have the most popular version of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” there are dozens of others songs using the same exact title registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.

Mariah has not responded to the suit.

Speaking of Vance, Kelly Clarkson recorded a cover of Vance’s version of the song for her holiday album When Christmas Comes Around.

Jennifer Lopez delivered a powerful speech while accepting the Generation Award at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday.

The actress and singer, 52, was honored with the award that “celebrates beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names.”

During her acceptance speech, Lopez acknowledged how much her roles have meant to her and the impact of those who have helped her — or attempted to hold her back — along the way.

Reflecting on her previous roles, she said: “I look at those movies and I see all the wonderful people that I’ve been blessed to know and to work with. You’re only as good as the people that you work with, and if you’re lucky, they may make you better. And I have been very lucky in that regard.”

“As an actor, I’m not any of the women that I’ve played, but there is a part of what is deeply true to me in each one of those characters,” she continued.

“I want to thank all the people who gave me this life,” she said. “I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart. The ones who were true and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love and I want to thank the way that I lied to myself because that’s how I knew that I had to grow.”

“I want to thank disappointment and failure for teaching me to be strong and my children for teaching me to love,” she continued. “I want to thank all the people who told me, to my face or when I wasn’t in the room, that I couldn’t do this. I really don’t think I could have done it without you.”

Serj Tankian premieres new Armenian-sung solo song, “Amber”

System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has premiered a new song song called “Amber.”

The track is sung in Armenian, and its title, which is pronounced ‘ahm-be’r,’ is the Armenian word for “clouds.” Armenian vocalist Sevak Amroyan also guests on the song.

Tankian first wrote “Amber” in 2017 in response to that year’s Armenian parliamentary election.

“I was so distraught by the slick theft of the elections before ever reaching the ballot box that I wrote this song as a response,” Tankian shares. “The lyrics however seem to be more poignant today when Armenians are divided politically and socially following the devastating attack on Nagorno-Karabagh and Armenia by Azerbaijan and Turkey in 2020 and the continuous fallout over negotiations with those two dictatorial regimes.”

“‘Amber’s’ message is that of unity and harmony,” he adds. “Those are the only truly powerful weapons of the Armenian nation.”

You can watch the “Amber” video streaming now on YouTube. It will be released on digital outlets this Wednesday, June 8.
