Legendary pop act The Beach Boys notched some major country cred over the weekend, making their Grand Ole Opry debut alongside country duo LoCash.
The two groups split the bill for the second half of the evening during their Friday night performance and joined forces for their new duet, the LoCash-led “Beach Boys.”
Even if you were in the audience to see all the onstage fun, there’s a few things you might’ve missed — including the special backstage gift that LoCash offered The Beach Boys members to formally welcome them into the country music community.
“One of the first times we played together, Mike [Love] commented on my snakeskin boots,” LoCash’s Preston Brust tells People. “We wanted to celebrate the special night with a little gift, so Mike and Bruce [Johnston] got some boots of their own! Now they’re officially in the country music fam!”
The country duo’s Chris Lucas also joked that maybe The Beach Boys can return the favor someday.
“We’re still trying to get Mike and Bruce to make us honorary Beach Boys!” he says. “For now, we’re just having a ball getting to play together any chance we get.”
Wolfgang Van Halen is speaking out against Reelz cable network and Autopsy: The Last Hours of… for the show’s upcoming episode about Wolf’s father, the late Van Halen icon Eddie Van Halen.
The controversial show, which has previously profiled other late rockers, including Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and David Bowie, purports to uncover “the truth behind the controversial deaths of global icons and people whose untimely deaths were surrounded by scandal and intense media attention.”
A description for the Van Halen episode, which is set to premiere this Sunday, June 5, reads, “Eddie died at the age of 65 from cancer. But if caught early, Eddie’s disease had reasonable survival rates. So what happened?”
It continues, “World renowned forensic pathologist, Dr. Michael Hunter needs to analyze every detail of Eddie Van Halen’s life in order to piece together what else may have been going on in his body, ultimately leading to his untimely death.”
In response to an article announcing the episode, Wolf tweeted, “F*** @ReelzChannel, f*** everyone that works on this show, and f*** you if you watch it.”
“F***ing disgusting trying to glamorize someone’s death from cancer,” he added. “Pathetic and heartless.”
Valerie Bertinelli, Wolf’s mother and Eddie’s ex-wife, had a similar response, replying to her son’s tweet with “Good Christ this is disgusting.”
Reelz has not yet publicly responded to Wolf’s comments.
After photos showing Elton John in a wheelchair surfaced Wednesday, the legendary singer addressed them head-on in a lengthy Instagram post to assure fans he is in-tip top shape.
“I want to thank all my fans for reaching out to ask about my health, after the tabloids ran a silly story about [me] ‘looking frail’ in a wheelchair,” he started the post, which included several recent photos of him on his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour.
“The true story is that I’m in top health, loving my shows and playing and singing at my very best,” he continued. “I give 100% every night and never want to disappoint, especially after everyone has waited so long to get back to seeing shows. Your response to every show has been phenomenal and I’m loving every minute of it.”
Sir Elton then addressed the paparazzi photos directly, explaining, “After another rousing 2.5 hour show, we arrived at Leipzig airport just before curfew, to find part of the airport had closed. It was an extremely long walk to get to the plane, so my team kindly laid on a wheelchair so I could rest my hip after doing the show. That’s all folks.”
The “Cold Heart” singer announced in September he had to postpone some of his 2021 Europe and U.K. tour stops to undergo hip surgery after a fall in the summer that caused him “considerable pain and discomfort.”
Now that he’s on the road to recovery, Elton signed off his post on a positive note that assured fans, “Last night was another blockbuster show in Bern and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at this weekend’s sold-out show in Milan.” He also thanked his followers for “all your kind words of support!”
Tony nominated Glee alum Matthew Morrison was reportedly fired from Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance for sending “flirty” messages to a contestant, according to People.
The actor and recording artist announced last Friday that he was leaving the show, claiming he “did not follow competition production protocols.” However, a source tells the magazine that wasn’t the case, and that he was let go “after he had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant.”
The source clarified, “They didn’t have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media. She felt uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers, who then got Fox involved. He was fired after they did their own investigation.”
Morrison, 43, reportedly never met up with the unnamed contestant off set, but his messages, “crossed the line,” according to the insider. The Glee veteran has been married to Renee Puente since 2014, and has one child.
The 17th season of So You Think You Can Dance just got underway in May, with a new judging panel that also included Stephen “tWitch” Boss and YouTube star JoJo Siwa, with Cat Deeley back as host.

(UVALDE, Texas) — The first search warrant returned in the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting sought access to the suspect’s iPhone as authorities search for clues that could point to the motive for last week’s fatal shooting of 19 children and two teachers.
A black iPhone 13 Pro Max was found next to the body of Salvador Ramos after he was shot and killed by a Customs and Border Protection tactical team, according to the search warrant affidavit.
Investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety sought permission from a judge to analyze the text messages, photos, videos and other “stored communications” on the phone, according to the affidavit, which was first obtained by Houston television station KHOU.
The Texas Rangers, a division of the Texas DPS, is conducting an investigation into the shooting, one of the deadliest in modern U.S. history.
The document also said the two witnesses to the car wreck that preceded the massacre saw Ramos “dressed completely in black with long shoulder length black hair.” The witnesses also told police they saw “the male subject was holding a long rifle and proceeded to load the rifle with a magazine” before he “began to fire multiple gunshots in their direction.”
The judge authorized investigators to download the contents of the device.
Ramos’ grandfather, Rolando Reyes, whose home he was living in at the time of the shooting, told ABC News the suspect had argued with his grandmother over paying a cellphone bill on the morning of the shooting. However, Reyes said he did not believe it was significant. Ramos allegedly shot his grandmother before driving to the school and opening fire.
ABC News has previously reported that authorities have yet to find a specific piece of evidence that explains why the attack occurred May 24 or why Robb Elementary School was the target.

Queen Elizabeth II shares adorable moment with great-grandson
They are 92 years apart in age, but Queen Elizabeth, 96, and her great-grandson, Prince Louis, 4, appear to share a close bond.
The queen was seen answering Louis’s questions and pointing things out to him while the two watched military jets fly overhead on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the end of Trooping the Color.
Louis, one of the queen’s nine great-grandchildren, is the youngest child of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
He joined his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the balcony and, earlier, in a carriage to travel to Buckingham Palace.

Royal family watches military jets fly over Buckingham Palace
Britain’s royal family, led by Queen Elizabeth II, gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a traditional military flypast at the end of Trooping the Color.
Thanks in part to a weather-cooperating, beautiful sunny day in London, aircraft from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force were able to fly directly down the length of the Mall and over the palace.
The queen, wearing sunglasses, watched the flypast with other members of the royal family, including Prince William and Kate’s children, Prince Louis, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who were seen talking with the queen.
Down below the balcony, outside the palace gates, thousands of members of the public gathered to see the queen and watch the flypast, which is so fierce and low that onlookers say they can feel the ground rumble.
