A new episode teaser for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series sees Olivia Rodrigo performing a song that foreshadows her exit this season.

Creator Tim Federle confirmed to ABC Audio last month that Olivia’s character Nini will have a “meaningful sendoff” so Olivia can pursue her musical dreams full time. And, thanks to this new sneak peek, more clarity is provided on what happens with her character.

The 50-second snippet shows Olivia strumming a guitar by a bonfire as she sings an original ballad called “The Best Is Yet to Come.”

“I open my eyes and I could see the horizon/ And the thrills are indescribable/ And the California sun is yours/ You never know which way the ride could take you/ Or how a breeze can make you start down a brand new road/ You never know,” the Grammy winner sings as an inspiring drum beat swells in the background.

Federle spoke with People about the song’s significance. “Nini’s new, acoustic solo is a poignant grace note to Olivia Rodrigo’s remarkable run on our series,” he said. “The song is all about how unpredictable a young person’s future is — and how thrilling that can be, too.”

Nini’s journey this season will mirror what’s happening to Olivia in real life  — with her pursuing her dream of becoming a professional singer.

The “drivers license” singer has starred as a main character in the series since 2019, but following her meteoric rise to fame and the release of her debut album, SOUR, she has taken on a much smaller role this season. It is not known if Olivia will return to the series, which recently got the green light for a fourth season.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is streaming its third season on Disney+.

Kane Brown‘s eldest daughter may be his biggest fan.

Katelyn Brown, wife of the hit country singer, took to Instagram Stories to share an adorable video of their 2-year-old daughter, Kingsley, dancing to her dad’s new song, “Grand.”

Kingsley can be seen standing in front of the TV screen on which the neon-clad music video is playing, bouncing and flailing her arms to the beat. The tot also makes her best attempt at singing along to the lyrics and imitating her dad’s dance moves.

“Daddy’s biggest fan,” Katelyn captions the clip with a crying laughing emoji, which was reshared by her husband.

Kane dropped the video for “Grand,” the third single off new album Different Man, last week. The album is set for release on September 9. Its current single, “Like I Love Country Music,” is inching its way to the top of the country charts.

The last couple days have been a “nightmare” for The Game, so he’s taking a mental health break. He announced the news Monday in an effort to keep up with his habit of being transparent.

“I’ve always prided myself on my transparency in tow with sharing every part of my life & myself with my family, friends & my fans… the past two weeks have been a nightmare for me,” he shared on Instagram. “I have witnessed disloyalty on levels unimaginable by people I’ve trusted with my heart, money, career & livelihood. Not only have I been backstabbed & betrayed.. I’ve been left to pick up the pieces alone.”

While The Game ensured fans he has “no hate, malice or vengefulness” toward those who recently hurt him, he’s chosen to focus on more important matters like his upcoming album.

“I’ve decided to take a step back from my phone, social media & group settings, clubs etc so I can focus on completing my album so that my fans are happy with the delivery,” his caption continued. “The date is AUGUST 12TH 2022 & I promise you it will not change or move. I’ve given everything that I am to this album & I guarantee GREATNESS.”

According to The Game, the mental health break will help him stay committed to his release date. It also allows him to stay put as he recovers from “inflamed muscles & a bruised tailbone” that he endured “from over working out” and an accident that resulted in him getting six stitches in his finger.

Garland announces first DOJ lawsuit to protect abortion access

(WASHINGTON) — Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday announced the Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against the state of Idaho challenging its law that will take effect next month that would make it a felony to perform an abortion in all but extremely narrow circumstances.

Garland said the law violates the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) that states hospitals that receive Medicare funds are required to provide necessary treatment to patients who arrive at their emergency departments while experiencing a medical emergency.

That medical care, according to Garland and the DOJ lawsuit, could include providing an abortion.

“The suit seeks to hold invalid the state’s criminal prohibition on providing abortions, as applied to women who are suffering medical emergencies,” Garland said in a press conference at the Justice Department. “As detailed in our complaint, Idaho’s law would make it a criminal offense for doctors to provide emergency medical treatment that federal law requires.”

Garland said that while the law, which will take effect next month, provides an exception in order to prevent the death of a pregnant woman, “it includes no exception for cases in which the abortion is necessary to prevent serious jeopardy to the woman’s health.”

“Moreover, it would subject doctors to arrest and criminal prosecution even if they perform an abortion to save a woman’s life,” Garland said. “And that would then place the burden on the doctors that they are not criminally liable.”

Garland used his press conference to put on notice other states who he says have passed restrictions on reproductive health care that similarly run afoul of federal law in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

“We will use every tool at our disposal to ensure that pregnant women get the emergency medical treatment to which they are entitled under federal law,” Garland said. “And we will closely scrutinize state abortion laws to ensure that they comply with federal law.”

The lawsuit asks a judge to declare the Idaho law invalid under the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause and is preempted by federal law to the extent that it conflicts with EMTALA.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

The wait for a new Carly Rae Jepsen album is over! The “Call Me Maybe” hitmaker announced her sixth studio album on Tuesday, called The Loneliest Time.

Carly, who is known for upbeat and inspiring music, explained to fans why she’s taking a more melancholy step with her new body of work. “I’m quite fascinated by loneliness. It can be really beautiful when you turn it over and look at it,” she said on Instagram while sharing the album’s official artwork. “Just like love, it can cause some extreme human reactions.”

The album’s official cover depicts Carly, who is wearing a see-through top, sitting with her back turned toward the camera. Her left arm is resting at a table that is decorated with pearl-bedazzled pears and what appear to be peach-colored peonies.

The Grammy winner also revealed the album has an explicit content warning.

Ahead of the album’s announcement, Carly hinted something big was coming on Instagram, where she teased on Monday, “I’m coming back for you, baby…” The video trailer depicts the singer speaking openly about the moon and what it represents — but fans also believe this was her way of leaving Easter eggs about some upcoming songs that will be heard on The Loneliest Time.

The forthcoming record arrives October 21 and is now available to preorder. It is the follow-up to her 2020 studio album, Dedicated Side B, which was the companion piece to 2019’s Dedicated.

(KALAMAZOO, Mich.) — A Michigan Planned Parenthood was intentionally set on fire, local authorities said.

The Kalamazoo, Michigan, clinic was shut down on Sunday after a fire broke out around 4:10 p.m, according to officials.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety released a surveillance photo that captured the alleged suspect wearing a black baseball cap, camouflage jacket, dark pants, blue medical mask and dark backpack.

First responders extinguished the fire in less than 10 minutes. The damage was minor and there were no injuries, according to police.

The clinic was closed following the incident and reopened at 1 p.m. on Monday, according to the clinic’s website.

Planned Parenthood of Michigan said its alarm systems appeared to have worked properly and it thanked firefighters for their quick response.

“As always, our top priority is the health and safety of our patients and staff, and we are grateful that no one was hurt,” Paula Thornton Greear, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Michigan, said in a statement to ABC News. “We remain committed to serving our patients — no matter what.”

Kalamazoo police are working with federal and local authorities to investigate the incident, officials said.

“I am appalled, shaken and disgusted. The responsible parties must be brought to justice. I will never stop fighting to keep abortion legal,” State Sen. Sean McCann, D-Kalamazoo, tweeted after the news broke on Sunday.

The fire came just one day before a Michigan judge ruled to temporarily block the state’s 1931 abortion ban. The block came just hours after a different judge ruled to allow the state to prosecute based on the law.

“This lack of legal clarity — that took place within the span of a workday — is yet another textbook example of why the Michigan Supreme Court must take up my lawsuit against the 1931 extreme abortion ban as soon as possible,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a statement on Monday.

Officials ask that anyone with information about the fire or suspect to contact KDPS at 269-337-8120 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.

(ST. LOUIS) — Nearly 2,500 Boeing workers at three St. Louis-area facilities will vote Wednesday on a contract offer from the plane manufacturer after calling off a strike planned for earlier this week.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, or IAMAW, is recommending that workers approve the new offer and expects the contract to be ratified, Jody Bennett, chief of staff of the IAMAW Aerospace Department, told ABC News

“We didn’t get everything we wanted where we wanted it but I believe we got everything out of Boeing that we could,” Bennett said. “It’s time to live to fight another day.”

Workers last Sunday rejected an offer that insufficiently compensated them through its retirement plan, Bennett said.

Upon ratification, the new contract provides workers with a $8,000 cash bonus, which would be subject to tax withholdings. Alternatively, under the terms of the proposed contract, workers can opt to place the total amount in a 401(k) account, Boeing said.

Under the proposal, the company will automatically put an amount equivalent to 4% of a worker’s pay into the 401(k) each year, the company and Bennett said.

But the new proposal removes the company’s 401(k) match, which featured a dollar-for-dollar company match on 10% of a worker’s pay, the union said. Instead, the company will match 75% on the first 8% of employee contributions.

“This new offer builds on our previous strong, highly competitive one and directly addresses the issues raised by our employees,” Boeing said in a statement. “We are hopeful they will vote yes on Wednesday.”

The contract includes a $2 per hour increase in the base wage for all employees, which equates to an average 7.2% wage hike, Boeing said. Workers at the three St. Louis-area locations make an average of $29.42 per hour, the union said.

In 2014, Boeing stopped offering a traditional pension plan for new hires, replacing it with a 401(k) that fails to adequately compensate workers, Bennett said.

The Arlington, Virginia-based company reported $160 million in profit in the second quarter of this year, which marked a 72% decline from the same quarter a year prior.

The company brought in $62.2 billion in revenue in 2021 after a resurgence in sales of its 737 Max, which was grounded in 2019 after two crashes left 346 people dead. The Federal Aviation Agency lifted the grounding order in November 2020.

Selena Gomez is about to add another exciting project to her expansive resume: she’s reviving the beloved 1980s movie Working Girl.

Deadline reports the “Lose You To Love Me” singer is in final negotiations with 20th Century to produce the reboot, as she is pictured as the “perfect partner for the project.” The movie is predicted to premiere on Hulu, which is already home to Selena’s other project — the Emmy-nominated Only Murders in the Building.

Ilana Peña, whose past works include Diary of a Future President and Angry Ex-Girlfriend, is currently working on the script.

Not much else is known about the forthcoming revival, but it seems Hollywood is clamoring to reboot beloved titles from the ’80s and ’90s thanks to the massive success of Tom Cruise‘s Top Gun: Maverick.

Working Girl hit theaters in 1988 and starred Melanie GriffithHarrison Ford and Sigourney Weaver.  Griffith starred as Tess, a receptionist whose savvy business idea is stolen by her boss, Katharine — played by Weaver. After Katharine suffers a major accident, Tess exacts revenge by masquerading as her boss and initiating a deal with Jack, an investment broker.

The movie was nominated for six Academy Awards — including Best Actress for Griffith and Best Supporting Actress for Weaver and Joan Cusack. The film won Best Original Song for Carly Simon‘s anthemic theme “Let the River Run.”

An exact date for when fans can see the Working Girl reboot has yet to be announced.
