Mariah Carey has another major milestone to celebrate: her fifth studio album, Daydream, turned 27 on Monday.
The singer celebrated the sweet anniversary on Twitter, writing, “Happy anniversary Daydream. My most bittersweet album.”
Mariah encouraged fans to read her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, to learn why she believes that. The Grammy winner further noted, “Oh and I believe it’s 11x platinum by the way” and joked “but we like the sound of Diamond!” RIAA confirmed the track is Diamond; its website reflects the record earned its eleventh Platinum certification in March 2022.
Daydream was nominated for six Grammy Awards and produced some of Mariah’s biggest hits — namely her Boys II Men collab “One Sweet Day,” which had spent the most weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 until it was dethroned in 2019 by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus‘ “Old Town Road.”
Other standout tracks include “Fantasy” — which gained new life thanks to Latto‘s “Big Energy” and soundtracking the Ryan Reynolds comedy movie Free Guy — “Always Be My Baby” and “Forever.”
The album also started Mariah’s exploration of hip-hop and R&b music, which she previously spoke about when saluting her 1997 follow up album, Butterfly. Butterfly celebrated its 25th anniversary last month, and Mariah rolled out the red carpet to salute the studio work.
Daydream has sold over 20 million albums worldwide since it was released in 1995, and to date, it’s considered one of the best-selling albums of all time.
October 13 marks Sammy Hagar‘s 75th birthday, and in honor of the occasion, AXS TV is devoting 24 hours of programming to the Red Rocker.
Starting Wednesday, October 12 at 8 p.m. ET, AXS TV is going all-Hagar, starting with his appearance on Daryl Hall’s music series Live from Daryl’s House. That’ll be followed by 41 episodes of Hagar’s show Rock & Roll Road Trip, in which the singer travels around the country interviewing famous pals like Dave Grohl, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Alice Cooper, John Mellencamp, Metallica’s James Hetfield, Roger Daltrey, Mick Fleetwood and more.
In between episodes, AXS TV will air special content from Sammy’s friends wishing him a happy birthday. Those friends include Sebastian Bach, former Hole drummer Scott Lipps and Dokken and Foreigner bass player Jeff Pilson.

Hagar and his band The Circle just released their new album Crazy Times.
Officially reaching #1 on country radio this week, “Carolina” has sat in the top spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for three straight weeks. It marks Cole’s third consecutive #1 hit off his latest album, Stereotype, following “Single Saturday Night” and his CMA Musical Event of the Year-nominated duet with Lainey Wilson, “Never Say Never.”
The song is inspired by Jo Dee Messina‘s hit debut single, “Heads Carolina, Tails California.” Cole co-wrote his track with original “Heads Carolina” writers Tim Nichols and Mark D. Sanders, as well as Thomas Rhett, Ashley Gorley and Jesse Frasure.
“The reaction to this song has blown me away. From the minute I released it you all raised your hand in support of it, and it means the world to me,” Cole says in a statement. “Getting to stand in front of you night after night hearing you sing it back is the best feeling in the world! So thankful for my team and everyone that makes these moments possible.”
This is Cole’s 12th number-one single overall. The hitmaker is currently on his Back Down to the Bar Tour that wraps November 19 in Florida.
Alice in Chains‘ Dirt is back in the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
The grunge rockers’ 1992 breakout record re-enters the all-genre album chart this week at #9, moving a total of 26,000 equivalent album units. The resurgence was spurred by AiC’s new Dirt reissue, which dropped September 23 ahead of its 30th anniversary last week.
Upon its original release, Dirt debuted #6 on the Billboard 200. It marked the first new album from one of the “big four” grunge bands — Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice — since Nirvana’s Nevermind hit #1 on the Billboard 200 earlier in 1992, which is now seen as a flashpoint in the grunge explosion of the early ’90s.
Dirt, the sophomore Alice in Chains album, spawned the singles “Rooster,” “Them Bones,” “Down in a Hole,” “Would?” and “Angry Chair.” It’s now certified five-times Platinum by the RIAA.
Red Hot Chili Peppers are releasing a Los Angeles Rams-themed vinyl version of their upcoming album, Return of the Dream Canteen.

New music from LilBaby is finally on the horizon as the rapper announced he completed his upcoming album titled, It’s Only Me.
“Finally Turned My Album In,” Baby said on Twitter, sharing that the new project will have 23 songs and seven features.
The long-awaited album will be the first solo collection from the Grammy winning rapper since his RIAA-certified four times Platinum My Turn released in 2020. My Turn was followed up by The Voice of the Heroes, his certified Platinum collaborative album with rapper LilDurk.
Fans and music artists alike rejoiced when the Atlanta native first announced the album’s release date on his Instagram last month, by sharing the cover art — his version of Mount Rushmore with his face over the years, superimposed.
“It’s Only Me ” 10-14-22 I Kno Its Been Along Time Coming But I’m Coming Harder And Harder ……#worththewait,” he wrote.
The new project follows the Amazon original documentary, Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby, which chronicles the rapper’s rise to fame, from a young boy navigating the streets of Atlanta to stardom.
Last month, Baby dropped the single and video for “Detox,” which should appear on the upcoming album.
Baby’s third studio album, It’s Only Me , is expected Friday, October 14.

Paramore played their first concert in four years Sunday in Bakersfield, California, and if that wasn’t exciting enough, the show featured the un-retirement of “Misery Business.”
You may recall that at Paramore’s last show, all the way back in 2018, Hayley Williams told the crowd that the band planned to stop playing “Misery Business” “for a really long time.”
“Four years ago, we said we were gonna retire this song for a little while, and I guess technically we did,” Williams told the crowd at the show. “But what we did not know was that just about five minutes after I got canceled for saying the word ‘whore’ in a song, all of TikTok decided that it was OK. Make it make sense.”
Williams, of course, is referring to the controversial “Misery Business” lyric, “Once a whore, you’re nothing more/I’m sorry, that’ll never change.”
As she continued to talk to the audience, Williams noted that Paramore fans in the band’s very early days called themselves “Parawhores.”
“I guess, what I’m trying to say is, it’s a word, and if you’re cool you won’t call a woman a whore because that’s bulls***,” Williams said. “We can all learn from ourselves, right?”
Williams didn’t sing the line, though the crowd certainly did. “Just for the record, 90 percent of you said ‘whore’ tonight,” she quipped. Also, as is tradition, she handed the mic to a fan in the crowd to sing the song’s bridge.
“I’m just gonna say thank you for being nostalgic about this because this is one of the coolest moments of our show,” Williams said. “It’s very nice to feel like there’s a reason to bring it back that’s positive.”

Bullet Train, the action comedy starring Brad Pitt and directed by his former stunt double-turned John Wick director David Leitch, has crossed the hundred million dollar mark.
It’s no small feat for a post-pandemic summer movie that didn’t involve superheroes or Tom Cruise in a cockpit.
What’s more, Bullet Train sped past the competition in its first week available on streaming. According to Fandango’s streaming service Vudu’s charts, Bullet Train managed to shoot past Top Gun: Maverick for the number-one slot on the streaming charts for the week of September 26th through October 2.
Bullet Train, which also stars Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bad Bunny, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz and Sandra Bullock, can be streamed in 4K Ultra HD with more than an hour of extra content not seen in theaters.

(NEW YORK) — At least 94 people in Florida have died due to Hurricane Ian, according to local officials.
Four additional people were also reported dead due to the storm in North Carolina, the governor’s office said Saturday.
The Category 4 storm slammed into Florida’s southwest coast Wednesday afternoon, causing catastrophic damage, fierce winds and dangerous, record-breaking storm surges.
Deaths from Hurricane Ian reported in Florida
The deaths span multiple counties in Florida, including 54 in Lee County, 24 in Charlotte County, five in Volusia County, three each in Collier and Sarasota counties, two in Manatee County, and one each in Hillsborough, Lake and Hendry Counties, ABC News has determined based on information from the Florida Medical Examiners Commission and inquiries with local officials and authorities.
The death toll from the catastrophic storm has been rising amid ongoing search and rescue missions.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said that upward of 700 people were rescued in the devastated county.
“It’s what a heavy heart that I say that number,” Marceno, whose county is home to hard-hit Fort Myers and the barrier island Sanibel, said in video posted to Facebook.
The causes of the deaths in Florida were primarily drownings, as well as two vehicle accidents and a roofing accident, officials said.
It is unclear whether the state’s figure overlaps with ABC News’ analysis. The state confirms deaths by reviewing medical examiner records, which can take some time.
Confirmed deaths from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement occurred in Lake, Sarasota, Manatee, Volusia and Collier counties between Sept. 27 and 30. The victims ranged in age from 22 to 91. One, a 68-year-old woman, drowned after being swept into the ocean by a wave on Sept. 29, the department said.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was among the first to publicly announce a fatality from Ian. A 72-year-old man in Deltona died after attempting to drain his pool during the storm, the office said Thursday.
The man, who was not publicly identified, “disappeared” after heading outside, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found him unresponsive in a canal behind the home and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital, the sheriff’s office said.
Deaths from Hurricane Ian reported in North Carolina
The storm made landfall again on Friday in South Carolina, which has reported no deaths due to the storm so far, Gov. Henry McMaster said Saturday.
Though in neighboring North Carolina, four storm-related deaths have been reported, Gov. Roy Cooper said in a statement Saturday. Three involved vehicle accidents on Friday, with the victims ranging in age from 22 to 25. Additionally, a 65-year-old man died Saturday from carbon monoxide poisoning after running a generator in his closed garage while the power was out.
Hurricane damage across the southeast, as rescue efforts continue
Florida Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents the Tampa Bay area, called the situation a “major catastrophe.”
“I’m afraid we’re going to be dealing with a larger loss of life than we anticipated,” she said on “ABC News Live” Thursday.
Florida Sen. Rick Scott told ABC News’ Good Morning America Thursday morning there were “thousands of rescue efforts going on right now.”
“We’ve got great sheriff’s departments, police departments, fire departments, state rescue teams. They’re working hard. But there’s a lot of people that need help right now,” he said.
He expressed concern for the state’s many low-lying areas.
“The water kills and I’m just — I’m scared to death of, you know, what’s happened here and I hope everybody stays safe,” he said.
Sheriff Marceno told Good Morning America Thursday they had thousands of 911 calls they were answering.
“We still cannot access many of the people that are in need,” Marceno said. “It’s a real, real rough road ahead.”

Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Maroon 5 headlined Shaquille O’Neal’s annual “The Event” fundraiser, which was held this year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. It marked the first Maroon 5 performance since Adam’s cheating scandal broke.
The “Memories” singer became embroiled in controversy after several women accused him of sending them inappropriate messages. While Adam said his conduct “crossed the line,” he maintained he never cheated on his wife, who is currently pregnant with their third child.
Despite the drama, the crowd went wild for Maroon 5; TMZ confirmed Prinsloo was part of the crowd. Furthermore, Shaq said he wasn’t going to let the drama eclipse the good his benefit concert was doing.
“As far as I can say, he’s coming to help kids out this weekend. He’s a good man in my book,” the basketball legend previously declared. He also joined Adam onstage during the event to perform “This Love.”
Other songs performed by Maroon 5 include “Animals,” “What Lovers Do,” “Makes Me Wonder,” “One More Night,” “Moves Like Jagger” and “Stereo Hearts.”
The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation put on the second annual event, which benefited the Las Vegas and Atlanta chapters of Boys & Girls Clubs and Communities in Schools. The goal is to help underserved youth achieve their full potential.
