Rage Against the Machine has canceled the band’s upcoming run of U.K. and European tour dates set to take place later this month and in September.
In a statement, the reunited “Killing in the Name” outfit writes that the decision was made “per medical guidance” relating to an injury frontman Zack de la Rocha suffered last month during a show in Chicago, which has since forced him to perform while seated during Rage’s ongoing U.S. tour.
“It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation,” the band says. “The flights, travel time, and rigorous schedule in the U.K. and Europe are simply too much of a risk for a complete recovery.”
Rage still plans to play their remaining three shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, which wrap up August 14, after which de la Rocha will “return home for rest and rehabilitation.”
“We are so sorry to all of our fans who have waited years to see us and hope to Rage again soon,” the statement reads.
The U.K. and European dates are part of Rage Against the Machine’s long-awaited reunion tour, which finally kicked off in July after being delayed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the affected shows are Rage’s headlining sets at the Reading & Leeds festivals.
Rage’s next set of dates kick off with another U.S. leg beginning in February 2023.
The Eagles recently announced that they extended their Hotel California 2022 Tour with a run of six Canadian dates in September, and now comes word that “due to overwhelming demand,” the band also will be playing six more shows in the U.S. in November.
The newly added stateside concerts are scheduled for November 15 in St. Louis; November 17 in Des Moines, Iowa; November 19 in New Orleans; November 21 in Birmingham, Alabama; November 23 in Kansas City, Missouri; and November 25 in Fort Worth, Texas.

As previously reported, the tour features the Eagles performing their classic 1976 Hotel California album in its entirety, as well as other memorable tunes by the group, accompanied by an orchestra and a choir. The band’s current lineup includes founding singer/drummer Don Henley, longtime guitarist Joe Walsh, bassist Timothy B. Schmit, and country star Vince Gill on vocals and guitar.
The Eagles’ Canadian outing is plotted out from a September 9 concert in Toronto through a September 22 show in Vancouver. The band wrapped up a series of European dates in June and also mounted an extensive U.S. leg earlier this year.
While Better Call Saul was met with strong ratings, critical acclaim and Emmy gold, show creator Vince Gilligan says when the spin-off ends on August 15, the Breaking Bad universe might just end with it.
“You can’t keep putting all your money on red 21,” he joked at AMC’s recent Television Critics gathering, according to Deadline.
“I feel like we probably pushed it doing a spin-off to Breaking Bad [but] I could not be more happy with the results. Then I did El Camino and I’m very proud of that, too,” he said of the two-hour 2019 Breaking Bad movie starring the show’s Emmy-winning Aaron Paul, which bookended that acclaimed series.
Gilligan admitted, “But I think I’m starting to sense you’ve got to know when to leave the party, you don’t want to be the guy with a lampshade on your head.”
Speaking alongside his Saul co-producer Peter Gould, Gilligan allowed, “I don’t have any plans right now to do anything more in this universe. I know I probably gave the same answer at the end of Breaking Bad. I gotta prove to myself that I got something else in me. I’m not a one-trick pony, that’s what I’m hoping.”
That said, the success of Better Call Saul has the show creator adopting a “never say never” approach regarding the Breaking Bad mother ship.
Gilligan, a veteran of The X-Files, says his next project will be a venture back into the paranormal, with shades of that phenomenon Fox show and The Twilight Zone.
(DYERSVILLE, Iowa) — The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds will take to the cornfields of Iowa for a game fit for dreams on Thursday night in the second edition of the MLB’s homage to the 1989 classic film starring Kevin Costner.
The “Field of Dreams” game will feature players wearing uniforms modeled after the ones each club wore a century ago, and walking out of the cornfields onto a baseball field adjacent to the original movie’s location.
The Reds will be the designated home team for the regular season game. The showdown will take place in a specially built field that holds 8,000 fans.
Last year, the league started the tradition with a game between the Chicago White Sox, the team featured in the iconic film, and the New York Yankees, with Costner himself on the sidelines. The game was a rousing success, with White Sox star Tim Anderson hitting a walk-off two-run home run after Aaron Judge’s three-run blast deep into the corn in the top of the ninth had appeared to set up a New York win.
Cubs first baseman Frank Schwindel told MLB.com he wasn’t sure if it was possible to top the first installment of the tradition.
“I don’t know if we can,” Schwindel said. “It’s going to be tough to beat, but we’re going to show up like it’s any other day, play hard and hope we put on a show for the fans.”
Special care has been given to the player’s vintage uniforms.
According to MLB, the Reds will wear uniforms designed in 1919, when they won their controversial World Series title tainted by the Black Sox scandal. Shoeless Joe Jackson, one of those players thrown out of baseball for the alleged bribery scandal, was featured prominently in the movie.
For their side, the Cubs will have cream-colored uniforms styled after the franchise’s 1929 uniforms that include the old-school logo of a bear holding a bat inside a large red and navy “C.”
“Watching homers go out into the corn, it’s just something special,” Schwindel told MLB.com. “It’s going to be a lot of fun. We’re very spoiled to play at Wrigley every day — a lot of history, obviously. I think we’re going to try to soak it all in when we get to that field. We’ll walk through the corn, sit on the iconic bench out front.”
Reds shortstop Kyle Farmer is also excited to play in such an iconic spot. Farmer told MLB.com he did a project in high school on Shoeless Joe Jackson and the 1919 White Sox.
To celebrate the special night, country music star Walker Hayes will perform after the game as fireworks illuminate the cornfields.
(SILVER SPRING, Md.) — The Food and Drug Administration announced an emergency use authorization to move forward with their plan to stretch out the current monkeypox vaccine supply with a new injection method that will try to stretch one dose into five. Vaccine experts say that the scientific rationale behind this decision is sound, but technical challenges with the rollout technique may still be ahead.
“In recent weeks, the monkeypox virus has continued to spread at a rate that has made it clear our current vaccine supply will not meet the current demand,” FDA Commissioner Bob Califf said Tuesday during a press briefing.
But this swift decision has some asking if this way of giving a vaccine that is still experimental.
Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, deputy coordinator for the White House Monkeypox Response, sought to reassure gay, bisexual and men who have sex with men — the group most affected by the outbreak right now — that the new strategy is evidence-based.
“I think that the due diligence done by the FDA, looking into the data, should assure them that the vaccine is immunologically equivalent and safe,” Daskalakis, a leading expert on LGBTQ health, said during a Tuesday briefing.
Experts say the scientific rationale is sound, but the data isn’t robust
The data Daskalakis is referring to comes from a 2015 study that evaluated both ways of administering the vaccine, that found “a similar immune response,” according to the FDA. Other data comes from smallpox and influenza vaccines.
“We look at the totality of the available scientific evidence and we bring that together to try to do the best by public health,” Dr. Peter Marks, FDA’s vaccine chief, said on Tuesday.
Vaccine scientists interviewed by ABC News agreed that the scientific rationale supporting the new injection technique is strong, but note prior studies have been small.
“The data supports this based on the original clinical trial data and their approval from FDA,” Dr. Richard Kuhn, Krenicki Family Director of Inflammation, Immunology, and Infectious Disease at Purdue University, told ABC News.
Dr. Dan Barouch, Director, Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center says it’s crucial to continue collecting data to better understand if the new injection technique will be equally effective in this outbreak.
“There is some data, but it’s a small amount of data — and it needs to be studied in larger numbers with more sophisticated assays that we have today with the actual vaccine that’s being used right now,” Barouch told ABC News.
The National Coalition of STD Directors, a nonprofit representing sexual health clinics that have been on the frontlines of the current outbreak – questioned the decision. Without clear data on efficacy, giving smaller, shallower injections could give people a false sense of security, they argued on Twitter.
Trickier injection method can be taught
Healthcare providers will need to be trained in how to give shots between layers of the skin, instead of the more typical deeper injections below the skin. The technique is not overly complex and has been done in the past with other vaccines. But because it is slightly more difficult, the shallower injection into the skin is not commonly used.
“There is a lot of history of getting vaccines by the intradermal route, but not recently,” Barouch said. “Most people are not trained or experienced in administering vaccines by the intradermal route.”
Despite challenges, vaccine scientists say dose sparing technique could still pay off
“Currently we have a larger demand for monkeypox vaccine than we have doses of the vaccine. I am confident this is why a dose sparing strategy was authorized,” Dr. Robert Frenck, director of the Vaccine Research Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, told ABC News.
Kuhn also agrees with FDA’s decision to allow shallower injections to stretch limited vaccine supply.
“The guidance on the intradermal is supported by earlier trials and is meant to increase availability of the current vaccine stocks,” Kuhn said, but warned that we need to be thinking about opening vaccine eligibility.
“I would prefer that we move now with this attenuated non-replicating vaccine,” he continued. “This is not a gay disease, and my concern is that we should be open to larger segments of the population, independent of sexual orientation, for the application of diagnostics and therapeutics.”
“Now is the time to try to get in front of this outbreak since we have a reasonable history of smallpox vaccination and some data on monkeypox,” he added.
But no one can perfectly predict the future of this outbreak.
“Only time will tell if this was the right decision or not,” Barouch said.

The annual Global Citizen Festival is back again, and this time around, its organizers are doing it big. In honor of the event’s 10-year anniversary, there will be two big shows: one in the usual location of New York City’s Central Park and the other in Accra, Ghana.
The New York concert will include a performance by Mariah Carey,as well as Metallica, Charlie Puth, Jonas Brothers, MÅNESKIN, Mickey Guyton and Rosalía.
The lineup for the international show boasts Usher, H.E.R. and Tems as some of the night’s performers.
Both concerts take place on September 24, and will be broadcast and streamed on ABC, ABC News Live, FX, Hulu, Twitter, YouTube and more. A primetime special, Global Citizen Festival: Take Action Now, will air September 25 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.

Global Citizen is calling for world leaders to fight extreme poverty and is specifically asking the leaders attending the United National General Assembly to invest $600 million in the future of women and girls worldwide, to close the annual $10 billion climate financing shortfall and to provide $500 million to help African farmers respond to the global food crisis.
According to Global Citizen, as many as 1.2 billion people now live in countries experiencing food, energy and financial crises; nearly 200 million more may experience extreme poverty by November if action isn’t taken now.

Kevin Federline is locked in a heated argument with ex-wife Britney Spears over their two teenage sons. On Wednesday, he added fuel to the fire by posting videos of the “Toxic” singer allegedly yelling at their kids, 16-year-old Sean Preston and 15-year-old Jayden.
To recap: K-Fed first kicked off the drama when he told Daily Mail her kids “have decided they are not seeing her right now.” Britney later accused her sons in a since-deleted Instagram post of being “hateful” and claimed her ex-husband’s house “has more weed than Ludacris, 50 Cent, Jay Z and Puff Daddy combined.”
That didn’t sit well with Federline. After Britney made the post, he shared several inflammatory videos of her to Instagram.
“I can not sit back and let my sons be accused in this way after what they’ve been through,” he wrote. “As much as it hurts us, we decided as a family to post these videos the boys took when they were 11 & 12. This isn’t even the worst of it. The lies have to stop. I hope our kids grow up to be better than this.”
The videos, captured by Daily Mailbefore he deleted them, allegedly show the Grammy winner arguing with her boys. In one video allegedly taken inside of their bedrooms, she seemingly orders them to moisturize their faces before bed — saying it’s “my house” and therefore they need to follow her rules.
Another video, taken inside of a car, allegedly shows Britney berating Sean for not putting on his shoes before going into an ice cream parlor, so she takes his phone away as punishment. “I am shocked. I am shocked as f*** with you. And I don’t know what to do,” she declares.
Neither Britney nor her husband, Sam Asghari, have commented publicly on these videos.

Just days after it was announced Ezra Miller had been charged with felony burglary comes news the embattled actor is apparently at the center of a case regarding missing people.
People reports Vermont State Police showed up to Miller’s home last weekend in search of a mother and three young children who were reportedly staying there against the wishes of the children’s father. The trio was nowhere to be found.
The cops were supposed to serve the actor with an emergency care order, following a Rolling Stone article that said the kids, aged 1, 4, and 5, were being kept in an environment where firearms and weed were present.
However, Miller reportedly told officers he hadn’t seen them in two months — but investigators say they suspect he was trying to “evade” the order, as what he said “contradicts information” they had regarding the whereabouts of the persons of interest.
Cops showed up Tuesday evening, as well, but apparently left empty-handed, People reports.
The situation is just the latest controversy for the star of the forthcoming The Flash, who, as reported, was arrested twice earlier this year after altercations at establishments in Hawaii.
In June, two South Dakota parents filed court documents that claimed Miller has been “physically and emotionally abusing” their 18-year-old daughter. Miller allegedly met the young woman when she was 12 and he was 23.
In 2020, the actor was caught on video choking a female fan to the ground outside a bar in Iceland.
Melissa Etheridge is a musician, Oscar winner, Grammy winner and breast cancer survivor, but now she can add another line to her resume: reality show peacemaker.
On Wednesday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Melissa made a surprise appearance at a charity dinner hosted by Dorit Kemsley. When she arrived, she inadvertently stopped things from descending into chaos.
As E! Online reports, Lisa Rinna and Sutton Stracke had gotten into a screaming match at the event and were slinging expletives across the room at each other, while all the other guests watched in horror. But then Melissa came down the stairs and performed “Come to My Window,” and suddenly everyone chilled out.
In fact, Lisa even apologized to Sutton and the rest of the Housewives, tearfully attributing her outburst to misdirected anger. “I’m trying to figure out how to live without my mom and I don’t know how to do it,” she said.
Melissa retweeted the E! Online article — titled “How Melissa Etheridge Stopped a RHOBH Dinner Party From Hell” — and added, “I have new calling!!” She also tweeted a photo of herself posing with the glamorous housewives, and captioned the pic, “one of these things is not like the other…“
BTS‘ J-Hope is thankful to have embarked on a solo career because he’s not only learned more about the industry, he’s discovered a lot about himself.
Speaking with NME, the “Arson” singer opened up about the apprehension he felt about releasing his debut solo album, Jack In The Box.
“I was a bit worried at first, because [the] Jack In The Box album contains my story and what I really wanted to do,” he confessed, adding he is “grateful” that people enjoyed listening to his “genuine stories.”
J-Hope, who is further “motivated” to make new music, continued, “I learned a lot as a solo artist … I think I will continue to grow through this album. I’d like to show even better music through my solo projects.”
Noting that the “experience has given me a positive influence overall,” he teased that he wants to “try many different things with my music” going forward.
While on the topic of the future, he also teased what’s next for BTS.
“BTS will hold a big concert in Busan in October and we’re getting ready for that,” he previewed.
J-Hope isn’t the only member of BTS working on making a solo name for themselves — Jin is working on another collaboration with the MMORPG game MapleStory. This news comes a few days after MapleStory teased on Twitter the K-pop star had applied to be its new game designer and planner.
It appears he’s been hired because a trailer was posted Wednesday and it was titled, “Mapler Kim Seokjin goes to work!”
It is not known how this new partnership will roll out.
