New Music Friday: The Game, GloRilla, Ice Spice and more

The Game teamed with DJ Drama for Gangsta Grillz: Every Movie Needs a Trailer. There are 18 tracks on the project, with features from Eric Bellinger, Jeremih, Mozzy, O.T. Genasis, Hailey Williams and Latoiya Williams. He also worked with producing duo Mike & Keys.

GloRilla has released double the music, dropping singles “March” and “Special.” “March” is accompanied by a music video directed by Troy Rescue, which finds Glo as a member of a marching band. It’s an homage to the 2002 film Drumline. “Special” sees Glo getting personal and asking her man for a few affirmations.

Westside Gunn has released a new song about the sneaker brand he recently collaborated with. My Sauconys Glowin — a three-track EP featuring Stove God Cooks and Benny the Butcher — comes on the heels of his Saucony Progrid Triumph 4 Super FlyGods. Stove God also dropped “El Pueblo.”

Young Thug dances in the studio as he listens back to the song “Revenge” in its new music video, available to watch on YouTube. Features Lil Gotit and 1300Saint are also spotted busting out their dance moves and performing their respective verses for the visual.

Ice Spice released the song and video for “Thootie” featuring Tokischa. “It’s the [first time] people are actually hearing me speak or rap in Spanish, and it was fun to show another side of who I am, and it’s even more special that I got to do it with Toki,” Ice says in a statement, as per Uproxx. “We went to the Dominican Republic to shoot the video last month, and it was a vibe. I definitely felt at home.”

In case you didn’t believe it’s actually P.O.D. playing that cover of The Beatles‘ “Don’t Let Me Down,” we now have some visual evidence.

The “Youth of the Nation” rockers have premiered the video for their take on the 1969 single, featuring footage of Sonny Sandoval and company rocking out to the track. You can watch it on YouTube.

P.O.D. first released their “Don’t Let Me Down” cover in September.

“As cliché as it may sound, we’ve always admired The Beatles from the very beginning of our songwriting journey,” guitarist Marcos Curiel said at the time. “Their melodies, the hooks, and fearless experimentation inspired us to craft our own take on the classic ‘Don’t Let Me Down,’ with nothing but the utmost respect. Squeeze releases second track from upcoming album, ‘Trixies’

Squeeze has shared another track from their upcoming album, Trixies, which features some of the first songs the band’s Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook ever wrote together.

After previously releasing the first song, “Trixies Pt. 1,” they have now released “Trixies Pt. 2” to digital outlets.

The songs on Trixies, Squeeze’s first album in eight years, are described as a “collection of stories set in a fictional night club, Trixies.” They were written by the duo back in 1974 when recording was beyond their skill set.

“The songs that we wrote then astound me. I’m proud of them now, and I’m particularly proud that it was young us that did that,” Tilbrook said when the album was first announced. “The act of revisiting the Trixies songs had me in tears, partly because they’re so good, but also because I’m aware of all the stuff that I’ve still yet to hear and write.”

Difford added, “It really fills me with joy that at my age we can discover that we wrote such great songs when we were teenagers. I’m very proud of that.”

Trixies is being released March 6 and is available for preorder now.

‘Malcom in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’ first look pays homage to original series

The teaser for the Malcom in the Middle revival has arrived.

Hulu released the first teaser for Malcom in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair on Friday. The revival will consist of four episodes that will arrive to Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in 2026.

The new teaser pays homage to the original series’ pilot episode, which found Bryan Cranston‘s Hal getting his back shaved by Jane Kaczmarek’s Lois. We see someone’s back getting shaved, and then the hair forms the show’s logo.

“Some things never change,” the Instagram caption of the teaser reads. “#MalcolmInTheMiddle Life’s Still Unfair, a special four-part event, streams 2026.”

This new revival picks up after Malcom (Frankie Muniz) has spent over a decade shielding himself and his daughter from his family.

“Malcolm is dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party,” according to its official synopsis.

Also starring in the revival are Chris Kennedy Masterson as Francis, Justin Berfield as Reese and Emy Coligado as Piama.

Joining the franchise for this new installment are Keeley Karsten as Leah, Malcolm’s daughter; Vaughan Murrae as Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling; Kiana Madeira as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend; and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark as Dewey.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and Hulu.

Anna Kepner’s cruise ship death: Stepmom fights to keep custody of her younger child

(BREVARD COUNTY, Fla.) — Weeks after 18-year-old Anna Kepner mysteriously died on a cruise ship and her stepbrother was named a “suspect” by his parents in a court filing, the stepbrother’s mom appeared at a hearing, fighting to retain custody of her younger child.

Kepner died on the Carnival Horizon in November while on a Caribbean vacation with her grandparents, father, stepmother, siblings and stepsiblings.

A copy of the death certificate provided to ABC News by Kepner’s family showed the Florida high school cheerleader “was mechanically asphyxiated by other person(s).” An autopsy report has not been released and authorities have not announced whether they believe Kepner’s death was in fact a homicide.

The FBI and medical examiner’s office haven’t commented on the case.

The stepbrother’s parents, Thomas Hudson and Shauntel Hudson, are fighting over custody, and have in court documents referred to the stepbrother — who is a minor — as a suspect in Kepner’s death.

At a hearing in Brevard County, Florida, on Friday, the judge didn’t find that the Hudsons’ youngest child is in imminent danger of harm by continuing to live with Shauntel Hudson and her husband, Chris Kepner, who is Anna Kepner’s father.

The “suspect” stepbrother has been living with Shauntel Hudson’s relatives since the family returned from the cruise.

Shauntel Hudson’s attorney said she didn’t know how long he would remain with relatives, given that the family isn’t sure what the outcome will be of the FBI’s investigation into Anna Kepner’s death. Shauntel Hudson said she’s been informed it’s possible investigators could charge her son with a crime as officials await results from toxicology tests.

Her attorney also informed the court they’re waiting on “psychological and psychiatric testing.”

He’s ‘Feeling Good’ and country: Michael Bublé will release ‘a love letter to country music’

Michael Bublé has duetted with quite a few country stars over the years, like Shania Twain, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Carly Pearce. But now he’s diving headfirst into the genre with a new country album.

Michael appeared on the latest episode of the Not Gonna Lie podcast, hosted by Kylie Kelce — Taylor Swift‘s future sister-in-law. He revealed, “I love country music, and I have loved country music my whole life. … I went to Nashville. I have a producer named Dan Huff … and I have made a love letter to country music. And it’s old school. It’s not, like, modern. It’s my interpretation.”

“I have never had an experience that has been better musically,” he raved. “I’m so excited to put out this record. I don’t know if 10 people are going to love it, but I don’t care because I feel like I earned the right to make a beautiful record.”

Michael listed some of his country bona fides, like those duets with Willie and Dolly; the fact that he’s recorded songs by Kris Kristofferson and Hank Williams; his friendship with Blake Shelton, who scored a huge country hit with Michael’s song “Home“; and the fact that the first song he ever recorded was one by Patsy Cline.

Michael said he has no idea when the record will come out because it isn’t finished yet.

Carly told ABC Audio in 2024, after she recorded a Christmas duet with Michael, that he was a true country fan. “I feel like a lot of people just come in [to country] because they’re like, ‘Country’s easy … put a banjo on it. It’s fine.’ And I take great offense to that,” she said. By contrast, she insisted that Michael “absolutely understands what the genre is [and] what these songs mean.”

Garbage’s Shirley Manson has some thoughts about beach balls at concerts

Whatever the opposite of a “#1 Crush” is, that’s what Garbage‘s Shirley Manson has on fans who bring beach balls to concerts.

Manson came across one such fan during Garbage’s current tour of Australia and, as seen in footage posted to the band’s Instagram Story, decided to share how she really felt.

“Guy with your big f****** beach ball, ooh, I’m so scared of you, so thrilled by you,” Manson mocked. “What a f****** d****bag.”

Manson then expanded upon her anti-beach ball opinions in a post to Threads.

“I make NO APOLOGIES whatsoever for getting annoyed at beachballs at shows,” Manson writes. “I joined a band because I HATED THE F****** BEACH. I joined a band because I wanted to listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure and be dark and beautiful.”

“Continue listening to Spotify and toss your stupid beach balls around like you are ten years old,” Manson adds. “I love the musical community and I want to respect their artistry. I am so tired of folks taking music for free and treating us all like circus performers.”

Perhaps Manson’s distaste for beach balls shouldn’t be too surprising; after all, one of Garbage’s biggest hits is called “Only Happy When It Rains.”

Garbage released a new album, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light, in May. They wrapped up a U.S. tour in support of the record in November, which they said would mark their “last North American headline tour.”

Texas flooding 911 calls from hard-hit Kerr County released: ‘Distressing’

(KERRVILLE, Texas) — Hundreds of 911 calls during the July 4 Texas flood that devastated the Hill Country have been released from hard-hit Kerr County.

The Kerrville Police Department released the calls late Thursday following Freedom of Information Act requests from eight media outlets.

“We want to caution the public that what you will hear on these calls is distressing. Some callers did not survive,” Kerrville Police Chief Chris McCall said in a video message on Thursday ahead of the release.

ABC News is currently reviewing the 911 calls.

The first call related to flooding in western Kerr County came in to the police department’s 911 center at 2:52 a.m. on July 4, according to McCall.

Over the next six hours, the center, which receives all 911 calls for Kerr County, answered 435 calls, he said.

Two people were working at the time, the police chief said while commending the operators for their handling of “extraordinary call volumes.”

“I’m immensely proud of our telecommunications operators,” he said. “These public safety team members showed incredible perseverance as they faced high call volumes and did their best to provide assistance and comfort to every caller.”

Some calls were transferred to neighboring dispatch centers based on the protocols regarding high volume, he said. Once they obtained critical information from callers, the operators “were faced with the difficult decision to disconnect and move on to the next call,” McCall said.

The 911 calls are being released in their entirety, without redaction.

“The recordings contain disturbing content, which our community, employees, and family and friends of loved ones lost may find highly distressing,” the police department said in a statement. “Listener and audience discretion is advised.”

Over 130 people were killed in flash flooding across the Hill Country region, including at least 117 in Kerr County, officials said. At Camp Mystic, a Christian all-girls sleepaway camp located along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, 28 people — including 25 campers, two counselors and the camp’s director — died as rapidly rising floodwaters inundated the camp.

Thursday’s release follows the release of 911 from other counties in the Hill Country, including Gillespie and Kendall counties.

Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran score Critics Choice Awards nominations

Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and KPop Demon Hunters have scored nominations for the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards.

Ariana was nominated in the best supporting actress category for Wicked: For Good. The new song Stephen Schwartz wrote for Glinda specifically for the film, “The Girl in the Bubble,” was nominated for best song.

Also nominated in the best song category was Ed’s song “Drive” for F1: The Movie and “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters, co-written by one of the song’s performers, EJAE. KPop Demon Hunters was nominated in the best animated feature category, as well.

The Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler, will broadcast live on E! and USA Network Sunday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Coco Jones talks Grammy nominations, dream collaborators

Coco Jones received a 2026 Grammy nomination in November for her debut album, Why Not More? It’s her eighth Recording Academy nod to date, all of which she worked for but never quite expected.

“I don’t expect these things — but I do, but I don’t,” she told will.i.am during a conversation for Uproxx. “Because you’re working towards a goal. I’m not working like, ‘Hope nobody hears this! Period!’ I’m working towards goals. But I also know I can’t control anything but me. So it’s like, yes, and no.”

“I’m not going to sit here like, ‘I knew that, I knew that, I knew that,'” she continued. “If I could tell the future, I’d be a bajillionaire!”

Coco shares that she puts in the “work like I want to receive those awards” and is relieved when she gets recognized.

“If things get nominated, if they get recognized, if they get love — even from my fans — I’m like ‘whew!’ Because that was hard as hell,” she says. “In general, I hold everything to a really high standard, and I hope that people agree that it’s high quality stuff.”

Why Not More? was released in April with appearances from YG Marley, London on da Track and Future. She tells will.i.am that Jazmine Sullivan and PartyNextDoor are among her desired collaborations.

“I love Jazmine Sullivan, and I feel like we would do something soulful and sickening together. I also love PartyNextDoor,” she said. “I love modern R&B, that’s super chill and super laid-back and cool as hell. Because I feel like I’m not ‘cool as hell,’ I’m just ‘real as hell.’ I think that’s my vibe, but I want to do something ‘cool as hell.’ Mysterious.”
