As previously reported, singer/songwriter Elizabeth Chan, who exclusively records Christmas music and has been called “The Queen of Christmas” since 2014, has filed an opposition to Mariah Carey‘s attempts to trademark that phrase. Now, another artist who’s been called “The Queen of Christmas” over the years has announced her displeasure with Mariah’s actions.

Singer Darlene Love, a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer known for her timeless holiday hit “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” wrote on Facebook Monday, “Is it true that Mariah Carey trade marked ‘Queen of Christmas?’ What does that mean that I can’t use that title?”

She continued, “David Letterman officially declared me the Queen of Christmas 29 years ago, a year before [Mariah] released ‘All I want For Christmas Is You’ and at 81 years of age I’m NOT changing anything. I’ve been in the business for 52 years, have earned it and can still hit those notes!  If Mariah has a problem call David or my lawyer!!”

Letterman famously had Love on his talk shows every year to sing “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” from 1986 to 2014.

As Chan told ABC Audio, she’s not looking to own the trademark for herself — she just doesn’t want it to be owned by any one person. “Having been called the Queen of Christmas is an honor. It’s not a possession,” she notes. “And Christmas is meant to be shared. It’s not meant to be outrightly owned or monopolized by a single person.”

In fact, last December Mariah said in an interview that she “doesn’t consider herself” to be The Queen of Christmas, adding, “To me, Mary [Mother of Jesus] is the Queen of Christmas.”

Shinedown once again owns the record for the most #1 singles on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

Brent Smith and company return to the top spot on the ranking this week with “Daylight,” the current single off their new album, Planet Zero. That gives Shinedown a total of 18 #1 Mainstream Rock singles, the most in the 41-year history of the chart.

Shinedown first set the record for the most #1 Mainstream Rock hits in 2020 with 16, breaking the high-water mark previously set by Three Days Grace. The two bands have since been been battling for the record, with Three Days Grace just tying Shinedown with 17 #1s last month.

“Daylight” is the second Planet Zero track to hit #1 on Mainstream Rock Airplay, following the title track. Shinedown’s U.S. tour in support of Planet Zero resumes August 25 in Asheville, North Carolina.

Organizers for Rolling Loud New York have managed to add another performer to the star-studded lineup. On Monday, they announced that Playboi Carti will perform at the festival, set to go down next month.

“PLEASE WELCOME, PLAYBOI CARTI!” they wrote next to an updated photo of the flyer.

Rolling Loud New York will take place September 23-25 at Citi Field in Queens and will include performances from headliners Nicki MinajA$AP Rocky and Future, as well as a slew of other artists. With a lineup of over 100 stars, why add Playboi Carti?

Well, organizers say they’ve “believed in Carti ever since 2015” — the year he dropped Soundcloud singles “Broke Boi” and “Fetti” featuring Da$h and Maxo Kream.

“Carti’s redefining what it means to be a hip-hop artist, so it’s only right for him to play a big part in our latest festival in hip-hop’s hometown,” they told TMZ. “We can’t wait to see what this future headliner has planned for the New York crowd.”

Brian Kelley is reflecting on Florida Georgia Line‘s journey before their hiatus.

Over the weekend, the duo performed in Woodstock, Illinois, as part of a contest T-Mobile held to provide a $3 million “tech makeover” to a small town in America. It marks one of the final shows on this year’s calendar before going their separate ways.

Bandmate Tyler Hubbard is working on a solo album and prepping to go on tour with Keith Urban, while Brian is preparing for his residency at Tribe Kelley Surf Post, the Florida clothing store he owns with wife Brittney. He says he’s looking to the future with gratitude for what they’ve accomplished.

“Every step of the way, we’ve had a blast. Even in the hard times where we were driving in a van and not sure if anything’s going to happen,” Brian shares with E! News“We love creating and we’re super grateful that our music resonates to so many different people in so many different locations. It really is a dream come true every time we get to play our songs live. When we live them out with everybody, you get to see the power of music and it’s so much bigger than just us onstage in that moment. It’s bringing everybody together and that’s a feeling that you can’t really replicate.”

FGL’s last show this year is on August 31 at the Minnesota State Fair.

Throughout Rage Against the Machine‘s U.S. reunion tour, the band has been raising money for a variety of different charities and organizations through ticket sales. Following the group’s five-night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, those fundraising efforts hit a significant milestone.

According to a tweet from the “Killing in the Name” rockers, charity tickets purchased over the five MSG shows raised a total of $1 million. The money will be donated to the Immigrant Defense Project, as well as the local NYC charities Neighbors Together and The Campaign Against Hunger.

The MSG concerts marked the final dates on Rage’s 2022 U.S. leg, which mark the band’s first live shows since 2011. The outing had originally been scheduled for 2020, but was delayed to this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rage was set to follow the U.S. run with a trip to the U.K. and Europe, but those dates were canceled due to frontman Zack de la Rocha suffering an injury during a July show in Chicago, which forced him to perform while seated for the rest of the tour. Now that the MSG shows are done, de la Rocha is set to “return home for rest and rehabilitation.”

Lizzo is more excited about what she’ll wear to the Emmys than she is about winning one

Lizzo scored her first Emmy nomination thanks to her hit Amazon series Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls — but the singer isn’t focused on winning as much as what she’ll be wearing that night.

The series has been nominated in the Outstanding Competition Program category, but Lizzo hasn’t begun thinking about a possible acceptance speech.

“I don’t plan on things like that,” she told Deadline. “I think I’m more excited about what I’m going to wear.”

Watch Out for the Big Grrrls is facing stiff competition from fellow category nominees The Amazing RaceNailed It!RuPaul’s Drag RaceTop Chef and The Voice. Should Lizzo win, she will officially be halfway to EGOT status.

But, that’s not even a blip on the “About Damn Time” singer’s radar. Instead, she’s more focused on making a splash on the red carpet.

“It’s just a big deal to be there. This is going to be my first Emmys, my first Emmys carpet. I want to feel like the belle of the ball,” she insisted. “So, I think I’m more excited about planning my look than a speech.”

What else does Lizzo plan on doing on Emmys night besides cementing herself as a true fashion icon? She cheekily added, “I think I’m just going to drink champagne.”

Find out what Lizzo is wearing and if she takes home the golden statuette when the 74th Emmy Awards air live on Monday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. The ceremony will also stream live on Peacock.
