On Wednesday, Andor, the latest Disney+ Star Wars show, blasts off with a two-episode premiere.

The 12-episode prequel series — the longest yet for a Disney+ show — centers on Diego Luna‘s titular Rogue One character, Cassian Andor, a spy for the Rebellion as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy.

Written and executive produced by Rogue One‘s Tony Gilroy, the show shares that fan favorite Star Wars film’s darker, more grounded feel.

6 Underground star Adria Arjona plays Bix, a strong-willed salvage company owner whose loyalties to Andor put her in danger.

In the course of the first episodes, her character also does something never seen before in a Star Wars production: She sleeps with another character.

Wary of spoilers, Arjona says with a laugh to ABC Audio: “You’re the first person to point it out, I didn’t want to point it out myself!”

Arjona explains, “Tony Gilroy [was] the reason why everyone is so invested and attracted to this [project].”

“I mean, I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but just being able to be a part of something that Tony has his finger on is quite special and it feels very special.”

Her character will certainly be popping up in cosplay form, something that took Arjona by surprise: “Stop! Stop! I’m getting goosebumps, do you really think so?! That’s kind of amazing,” she exclaimed with a laugh.

That said, she admitted what costume she was dying to don in the show. “I just want to have, like, one shot in the second part of the show that I can be a Stormtrooper and only I will know what scene it was. That’s all I want!”

After launching the iconic Bad Boy Entertainment label in the ’90s, Sean “Diddy” Combs is hoping for magic a second time around with his new label, Love Records.

The 52-year-old mogul dropped a teaser video for his new company featuring him working in a recording studio with several stars, including Jermaine Dupri, Offset, Big Sean, Ty Dolla $ign and Miguel.

“It’s the Love Records experience. It’s the best of the best. The best producers, the best songwriters, the best engineers, the best vibration, the best frequency,” the BET Lifetime Achievement Award winner says in his narration.

“Imagine a studio filled with the top producers and writers in the game. Hall of Famers. Future Hall of Famers. All together under one roof, collaborating. unifying. Making the music for the Black revolution,” Diddy continues. “For the R&B renaissance. Love Records. We here. We’re stronger together.”

Diddy previously kicked off the careers of numerous artists on Bad Boy, including The Notorious B.I.G., Faith Evans, Total, 112, Carl Thomas, Mase and Mario Winans.

Combs is the first artist on Love Records. In July, he dropped the video for “Gotta Move On” featuring Bryson Tiller — his first single since 2017’s “Watch Gon’ Do?” featuring Rick Ross and B.I.G. He’s joined by Tiffany Haddish and his sons Justin, Quincy and Christian in the music video directed by Teyana Taylor.

“Gotta Move On” will be included on his upcoming project, which will be released on his new label, distributed by Motown Records. The album will be his first since 2006’s Press Play.

CDC: 4 in 5 US pregnancy-related deaths are preventable

(NEW YORK) — Four out of five pregnancy-related deaths in the United States are preventable, according to new figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The report looked at data from the Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs) across 36 states between 2017 and 2019.

Most of these deaths, or 53%, occurred between seven days and one year after the pregnancy.

One-quarter of the deaths occurred during the pregnancy and the remaining 22% occurred on the day of delivery.

Mental health conditions — such as deaths linked to suicide or an overdose from a substance use disorder — made up the plurality of deaths at 23%, the report found.

Other underlying causes of pregnancy-related death included hemorrhaging; heart conditions; infections; thrombotic embolism, which is a type of blood clot; cardiomyopathy, which is a disease of the heart muscle; and high blood pressure.

The report also looked at deaths broken down by race and ethnicity and found that Black Americans made up a disproportionate percentage of pregnancy-related deaths.

White Americans make up 59.3% of the population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau but accounted for 46.6% of deaths. Comparatively, Black Americans make up 13.8% of the population but 31.4% of deaths.

Leading underlying causes varied by race and/or ethnicity. For Black Americans, the leading underlying cause was heart conditions. For white Americans and Hispanic Americans, the leading underlying cause was mental health conditions.

The CDC recently awarded $2.8 million across the U.S. to support additional MMRCs in efforts to prevent future pregnancy-related deaths.

“The report paints a much clearer picture of pregnancy-related deaths in this country,” said Dr. Wanda Barfield, director of the CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health at the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, in a statement.

“The majority of pregnancy-related deaths were preventable, highlighting the need for quality improvement initiatives in states, hospitals, and communities that ensure all people who are pregnant or postpartum get the right care at the right time,” the statement continued.

(LOS ANGELES) — Seventeen cats that were in a pet hotel were killed after a fire broke out at a strip mall in a Los Angeles neighborhood on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Around 124 firefighters responded to an emergency call of a fire at the 9000 block of West Venice Boulevard located in Palms at 5:44 a.m. local time Saturday, the LAFD said.

The strip mall includes about a dozen businesses, including CatPlaceLA, a boarding facility for felines.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to seven businesses, including a nail salon, smoke shop, martial arts studio, staffing agency and the pet facility, authorities said. Five of those businesses were gutted due to the heavy flames, fire officials said.

Firefighters removed 19 cats from the smoke-filled pet boarding facility but were only able to save two of them, according to the LAFD.

“While two of the cats were safely resuscitated by firefighters and soon transported to emergency veterinary care, 17 others were sadly beyond medical help and perished at the scene,” LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey wrote in a statement.

“Our notion is that the animals all perished as a result of smoke exposure,” Humphrey told ABC News.

According to the LAFD, one firefighter got sick while helping put out the flames, but it was unrelated to the fire. The firefighter was taken to an area hospital in fair condition and is receiving medical care.

Officials said it took more than an hour to put out the flames and that no civilians were hurt in the fire.

“None of the businesses were equipped with fire sprinklers,” Humphrey said.

The LAFD is investigating the cause of the fire.

Atlantic Records

Charlie Puth cannot wait for his fans to listen to Charlie because its his “most personal work” to date.

The Grammy nominee chatted with Billboard about his new album and explained, “I’ve never had an entire body of work that was my personality with some melody attached to it.”

Charlie, which arrives in stores on October 7, has a unique cover that shows the singer leaning on a white cube and has all the song titles and symbols written out above his head. “The cover speaks for itself to all those little thoughts coming out of my head and notes,” Charlie expressed.

So, what’s his favorite song on the album? Charlie revealed its a tie between “Smells Like Me” and “There’s a First Time for Everything.”

He revealed the album is designed to contain multiple favorite songs, not just one. “I want your brain to go into a million places when you read these [song] titles, and I also want people to be familiar with these songs, like they’ve heard them before,” he explained.

He revealed he recorded an album before the pandemic hit, Voicenotes, but he wasn’t feeling it. “I didn’t feel like I wanted to perform those songs for the rest of my life,” Charlie said. When it comes to Charlie, he feels differently.

“The whole album is produced by me and I wrote it with a very, very small group of people,” Charlie said, adding he brought these new songs to life by “involving millions of people on TikTok throughout the process” of creating them.

Charlie also came clean about why he posts so many thirst traps on social media, explaining, “I spend so much money on training sessions and the gym and protein powders — what am I going to [do], just keep it all to myself?”

Luke Bryan and Jameson Rodgers experienced a full circle moment performing onstage together.

While recently performing at Highland Farm in Indiana as part of his Farm Tour, Luke invited opening act Jameson to join him in singing “Born Here Live Here Die Here,” a song that has significant meaning for them.

On Instagram, Jameson shares that a few years ago, he was driving through a small town in Indiana to do a show at a county fair when his bass player said, “this is one of those towns you’re born in and die in.”

“The next week I wrote a song called Born Here, Live Here, Die Here.. @lukebryan then recorded this song,” the Mississippi native recalls of the track that became the title of Luke’s 2020 album. “Last night I sang it with him for the first time in INDIANA. Full circle moments are the coolest.”

Both singers shared a video of the performance that shows Luke playing acoustic guitar and providing supporting vocals as Jameson takes the lead.

“Enjoyed sharing the stage with my good buddy @jamesonrodgers tonight singing a song he wrote for my album,” the American Idol judge adds

The Farm Tour continues until September 24.
