Before Lizzo hit it big, she struggled with being homeless and lived in her car. In a new question and answer session with fans on TikTok, one asked how she stayed positive during that difficult time.

“I didn’t stay positive. It was really hard,” the Grammy winner emotionally admitted. “There were times when I was in that position when it was like, there was really no way out.”

“I didn’t know what my life was going to be [and] what it was going to amount to. More than scared, I was just — I felt broken,” Lizzo confessed.

The Emmy winner noted that she didn’t want to end the video on a serious or sad note, so she revealed what “got me out” of that mental spiral. “It was the idea that this was just a part of my story,” said Lizzo. “When I look back at my life, I’m in a better place. I could look back and say, ‘Wow, I survived.'”

She then spoke directly to the fan who asked the personal question, as they said they needed “hope.”

“You’ll get through this,” Lizzo wrote in the caption that was filled with red heart emojis. “This is only part of your journey. You are loved and protected.  If this is your lows then imagine the highs.”

She closed by telling the fan, “I believe in you.”

Speaking of Lizzo’s “highs” — she discussed what it’s like to have a Grammy win in a separate video. “It feels the same,” she expressed. “The drive and ambition and belief in myself that I had to have to get to the point – to win an award… I just keep going.”

As for the physical award, she joked, “I do pass it out at parties and make my friends do speeches.”

Hollywood Ending? Woody Allen isn’t retiring after all

As it turns out, Woody Allen will continue to make movies.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, the Oscar-winning Annie Hall writer-director said he wants to move away from filmmaking and concentrate more on his writing.

However, a rep for the 86-year-old says that’s not the case. “Woody Allen never said he was retiring, nor did he say he was writing another novel,” the statement begins.

“He said he was thinking about not making films as making films that go straight or very quickly to streaming platforms is not so enjoyable for him, as he is a great lover of the cinema experience.”

The message concludes, “Currently, he has no intention of retiring and is very excited to be in Paris shooting his new movie, which will be the 50th.”

That movie, WASP 22, is being filmed entirely in French.

The controversial filmmaker still enjoys a warm reception overseas, and he has already shot a handful of his movies in Europe, including the Oscar-winning Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Stateside, however, Allen’s career suffered from allegations he sexually abused his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow when she was a child: Amazon canceled a multimillion contract with him, and several of his former cast members have denounced him, including Oscar-winning Mighty Aphrodite star Mira Sorvino, who apologized personally in a letter to Dylan.

The 2021 HBO documentary Allen v. Farrow chronicled the accusations; Allen called it “a hatchet job riddled with falsehoods.”

Incidentally, in an Instagram Live interview with former collaborator Alec Baldwin back in June, Allen admitted of moviemaking, “A lot of the thrill is gone … [N]ow you do a movie, you get a couple weeks in a movie house … and it goes right to … streaming.”

He added, “It’s … not as enjoyable to me.”

Starz

Starz celebrated National Dance Day on Saturday by releasing the trailer for the third season of Step Up starring Ne-Yo and Christina Milian.

Inspired by the Step Up dance movie franchise, the TV series launched in 2018 on YouTube as Step Up: High Water and continued with Season 2 in 2019. The show was then cancelled and later picked up by Starz, which renamed it simply, Step Up.

In the new season, the founder and star of the High Water label, Sage Odom (Ne-Yo), is facing murder charges. His business and love partner, Collette Jones (Milian), struggles to maintain the company and performing arts school as she attempts to continue a national tour without Odom.

Milian has replaced the late Naya Rivera, who starred as Jones in the first two seasons. Rivera died in July 2020 when she drowned while swimming in Lake Piru near Santa Clarita, California. She was 33.

The third season of Step Up will premiere Sunday, October 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.

Lil Nas X decided to combat hate with kindness — and comedy — when protesters showed up at his concert in Boston. Instead of ridiculing the critics, he decided to feed them and fall in love.

The Grammy winner took over MGM Music Hall at Fenway Park on Sunday night and shared footage of the small protest outside of the venue. “Just told my team to send them pizza,” he wrote and cheekily added, “this is really good promo!”

The protesters were allegedly religious and were attacking the singer’s sexuality and calling upon his fans to repent.

Lil Nas X later revealed the protesters weren’t interested in the free meal and shared footage of the naysayers thanking him for the gesture. “Update: they didn’t want the pizza,” he announced before admitting one attractive critic did catch his eye. “I accidentally fell in love with one of the homophobic protestors.”

The video slows down to focus in on a protestor wearing a “Christ’s Forgiveness Ministries” T-shirt.

A fan joked, “suddenly i agree with them” in terms of the good-looking protestor. “Yeah they kinda have a point,” the “Star Walkin'” singer replied.

When the protests ended after the show, Nas added, “I miss him already.”

Darius Rucker has revealed the title of his song featuring Chapel Hart

The trio of Danica Hart, Devynn Hart and Trea Swindle are featured vocalists on a track called “Ol’ Church Hymn” on Darius’ new album. It’ll be released as his new single on September 30.

The song compares a loved one to a church hymn as Darius sings, “you soothe my soul like an ol’ church hymn/Found in a book in the back of a pew/Born again love I’m a new person.”

“Like so many people, I was blown away when I saw Chapel Hart’s original response to ‘Jolene.’ I was recording ‘Ol’ Church Hymn’ at the time and instantly had this vision of it becoming a duet once I heard their voices,” Darius describes in a statement. “I’m so thankful they said yes to singing on it with me, and I can’t wait to see the huge career they’re going to have.”

Darius performed a cover of Bonnie Raitt‘s “Something to Talk About” with Chapel Hart on the season finale of America’s Got Talent last week.

“Hymn” follows his previous single, “Same Beer Different Problems,” and the lead single off the new project, “Beers and Sunshine,” which hit #1 on the country charts in 2020.

Elton John not only received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II, but he performed at multiple royal events and met the monarch a number of times during her 70 years on the throne. On Monday, he took to Instagram to reflect on his history with the queen as the world tuned in to watch her funeral.

“Today I’ll be joining the rest of the world in remembering Her Majesty The Queen,” Elton writes. “My own memories of her are filled with joy and admiration. The Queen honored me with a CBE, a knighthood and the Companion of Honor.”

He adds, “I was lucky enough to perform at three of her Jubilees. They were always joyous and humbling experiences. But it was the moments out of the public eye that I will most fondly remember her for: dancing together to ‘Rock Around the Clock’ at Windsor Castle or experiencing her great wit, warmth and humor first hand.”

“She served with grace and dedication,” he concludes, “and she will be sorely missed.”

He added two photos to his post: One of himself in the ’70s meeting the queen and one of them meeting in more recent times, with fellow musical British knights Tom Jones and Cliff Richard looking on.

Elton danced with the queen to Bill Haley‘s “Rock Around the Clock” at Prince Andrew‘s 21st birthday party in 1981. As Elton hilariously describes in his autobiography, Me, Princess Anne asked Elton to dance with her to Elvis Presley‘s “Hound Dog.” When the DJ segued from that into “Rock Around the Clock,” the queen appeared and asked if she could join them — which she did, still holding her handbag.
