The 2022 People’s Choice Awards announced this year’s batch of nominees, and among the prestigious list are artists such as Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Lady Gaga.
Harry and The Weeknd both earned Male Artist 2022 nods, while the former is also up for Song of 2022 with his #1 hit “As It Was.”
Camilla Cabello, Taylor and Gaga are all up for Female Artist of 2022; Gaga is also competing against Harry for Song of 2022 with the Top Gun: Maverick ballad “Hold My Hand.” She didn’t secure a nod for Album of 2022, but Styles’ Harry’s House is squaring off against Taylor’s Midnights and The Weeknd’s Dawn FM.
Harry and Taylor are also facing off against each other in the music video category, as her “Anti-Hero” and his “As It Was” are up for the top award. But, they need to watch out for Adele because her “Oh My God” music video also secured a nod.
Lauren Spencer-Smith and Steve Lacy also earned recognition from the PCAs as they’re both up for New Artist of 2022.
Looking into Collaboration Song of 2022, Camila and Ed Sheeran are up for “Bam Bam” — but they face stiff competition from Elton John and Britney Spears‘ “Hold Me Closer” duet.
Speaking of Ed, his tour has been nominated for Concert Tour of 2022, as has Dua Lipa‘s Future Nostalgia Tour, Harry’s Love on Tour and Gaga’s Chromatica Ball.

Alabama Shakes has announced a deluxe reissue of their debut album, Boys & Girls,in honor of its 10th anniversary.
The expanded collection is due out December 9 and includes a bonus disc capturing a live radio session.
Boys & Girls was originally released in April, 2012 and spawned the Grammy-nominated single “Hold On.” The album’s success also earned Alabama Shakes a nomination for Best New Artist.
Alabama Shakes followed Boys & Girls with 2015’s Sound & Color, which remains the band’s most recent album due to their ongoing hiatus. Frontwoman Brittany Howard has since pursued a solo career, releasing her debut album, Jaime, in 2019.
On this week’s Battle Rounds episode of The Voice, husband-and-wife duo The Dryes faced off against another Team Blake contestant, Bryce Leatherwood. Their performance of Brooks & Dunn’s “Red Dirt Road” hit a snag thanks to technical difficulties, but the duo rallied, and by the end, all four coaches were impressed by The Dryes’ ability to keep calm during a tough situation.
In fact, if it were up to Blake, they would have been able to try their performance again. “I wish we could have a do-over,” the country star joked. “I’ve been texting with the legal department. Apparently that’s a no-go.”
Ultimately, Bryce won the battle, but The Dryes aren’t done with their time on The Voice just yet. Instead of sending them home, Blake used his “save” to keep the contestants from being eliminated.
“I just feel like that overall performance, it kinda got derailed from the beginning, and that’s why we have a ‘save,’” Blake said in a video message on Twitter after the show. “To give somebody a second chance. And I felt like they deserved it.”
Season 22 of The Voice is currently underway. Blake, who’s been a coach on every single season of the show since its inception, recently announced that next season — season 23 — will be his last.
The Chainsmokers are the latest artists to publicly condemn Ye — formerly Kanye West — formaking antisemitic comments. The EDM duo have pulled the track bearing his name from streaming services.
“Kanye,” the single, was released in 2014 following their breakout hit “#Selfie.” At the time, Kanye was making waves with his critically acclaimed sixth studio album, Yeezus.
Now, The Chainsmokers’ feelings toward the rapper have changed in the wake of the antisemitic remarks he made on Twitter and in a since-deleted Drink Champs interview.
“Who would have guessed in 2014 that #selfie would have aged better than our song ‘Kanye,'” the EDM duo tweeted on Tuesday.
They then took to their Instagram Story to explain why they decided to shelf their 2014 song. “8 years ago we made a song saying we want to be like Kanye. Back then this guy inspired us in so many ways with his music and vision. Even more. recently he sampled our [2015 song ‘New York City’] which was so cool but a lot has changed even since then,” they expressed.
The duo continued, “This is just not the same guy we loved and were inspired by which really saddens us. So we are removing our song off streaming sites because it no [longer] represents the views we once shared.”
“I hope he gets his s*** together and stops with this hate rhetoric and bullying before it’s too late,” they closed, adding, “But we will not stand for this kind of behavior.”
The singers now join a growing number of celebrities that have openly condemned Ye, including his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, Jamie Lee Curtis, John Legend and Reese Witherspoon.
After much teasing, it’s now official: Rihanna has a new song on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
The lead track called “Lift Me Up” is a tribute to the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman and was written by Tems, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna and director Ryan Coogler.
Tems says in a statement, “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.”
“Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor,” the Nigerian artist adds.
The song comes out this Friday, October 28. It marks Rihanna’s first new music since 2016’s Anti.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Music From and Inspired By will be available on November 4. The movie comes out November 11.
Marvel is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
The nominees are in for 2022’s People’s Choice Awards, with movies including Bullet Train and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and TV shows including Better Call Saul and Stranger Things all in the running.
Hosted again by Kenan Thompson, the telecast will air December 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and E!

Lady Gaga is set to appear in the upcoming Joker sequel — titled Joker: Folie à Deux – and cinematographer Lawrence Sher had nothing but great things to say about the powerhouse singer.
Gaga is rumored to be starring as the nefarious Harley Quinn, opposite to Joaquin Phoenix‘s Joker. While we know she will be in the forthcoming film, the exact role she’ll play has yet to be confirmed.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Behind the Screenpodcast, Sher teased what’s to come with the hotly anticipated sequel and — more importantly — how Gaga fits into the mix.
“She’s just going to be a really cool fit for this movie and will create a similar kind of magic that Joaquin brought by himself,” the cinematographer explained. “I think the combination of the two will be exactly what we hope, which is exciting, and we’ll find magic every day on set.”
Sher added, “Hopefully, we’ll also have a bit of madness in there. So, we like when there is a bit of chaos. So we hope she brings the necessary chaos that Joaquin brought to the first one.”
Though Sher wasn’t willing to part with too much information concerning Gaga’s involvement with the film, he said he’s “super excited” to be working her, as he’s admired for years. “I’m a real believer in her as an artist… I really believe in her as an actor,” he said, adding he was a fan of her performance in House of Gucci.
He also said shooting is set to commence in about five to six weeks, noting they are in “the final steps of prep.”
Joker: Folie à Deux is slated to laugh its way into theaters on October 4, 2024.
Måneskin and Imagine Dragons are among the nominees for the 2022 People’s Choice Awards.

Other nominees include GAYLE and Steve Lacy for New Artist of 2022 and Billie Eilish for Concert Tour of 2022. Additionally, Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, based on My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way‘s comic book series of the same name, is nominated for Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show of 2022.
