Mötley Crüe‘s Mick Mars is getting off the road.

In a statement provided to Variety, the 71-year-old guitarist announces that he’s retiring from touring, citing his ongoing battle with the inflammatory disease ankylosing spondylitis, or AS.

“Mick will continue as a member of the band, but can no longer handle the rigors of the road,” the statement reads. “AS is an extremely painful and crippling degenerative disease, which affects the spine.”

Mars is Mötley Crüe’s original guitarist, having joined the band when it was founded in 1981. He remained with the group until 2015, when the Crüe played their so-called “final” show after signing a “cessation of touring” contract meant to legally prevent the “Home Sweet Home” rockers from performing live together again.

Mötley then announced in 2019 that they’d be reuniting for a 2020 tour, featuring original members Mars, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil. After a two-year pandemic delay, the stadium outing launched in 2022 with co-headliner Def Leppard. According to Billboard, the trek earned $173.5 million, making it the biggest tour of Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard’s careers.

Next year, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard will unite once more for an international tour. A replacement for Mars hasn’t been announced, though Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 has been heavily rumored.

Adele is hopping on the Midnights madness train and revealed she thinks Taylor Swift‘s a “Mastermind” at songwriting.

The powerhouse singer, ahead of the release of the long-awaited music video for “I Drink Wine,” spoke with fans during a Happy Hour With Adele event. During the fan event, she was asked point-blank what she thinks about Taylor’s new Midnights album.

Her response was shared on Twitter by user @ShivamT5088452. Although Adele has yet to listen to the ultra-hyped album, she has a very good reason for why she hasn’t pressed play. “I’ve been in rehearsals for, like, 12 hours a f****** day,” she remarked.

Adele is gearing up for her Weekends with Adele Las Vegas residency.

Still, Adele proved she’s a Swiftie — a name given to Taylor’s fans — by declaring, “I think Taylor’s one of the greatest songwriters of our generation.” Adele vows she will definitely listen to the Midnights album … once she has a free moment.

Adele revealed she loved listening to evermore and folklore — the sister albums Taylor released during the pandemic. The British singer expressed, “I think she’s fun, as well, she makes a release fun!”

Speaking of Taylor’s new album, Billboard reports it’s on pace to top this week’s albums chart. Midnights surpassed 1 million sales within its first three days of release and is blowing up the streaming charts, which the outlet estimates makes it worthy of a first place finish when the chart updates at the end of the week.

Tory Lanez has been ordered to stay on house arrest until his Megan Thee Stallion trial starts, according to TMZ.

TMZ reports that during a court hearing in LA on Wednesday, a judge ordered the rapper to be put on house arrest starting Friday and lasting through November 28. The order came after Tory violated his bail by getting into an altercation with August Alsina last month.

Tory is currently awaiting trial on charges stemming from shooting and injuring Megan Thee Stallion following a July 2020 pool party in the Hollywood Hills. He is charged with felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The Canadian rapper faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted on all charges. He has pleaded not guilty.

Legendary guitarists Robby Krieger of The Doors and Rush‘s Alex Lifeson teamed up to perform at a charity event held Monday at the club Bogie’s in Westlake Village, California.

As reported by Blabbermouth.net and seen in a fan-shot video posted on the Heavy Metal Hill YouTube channel, Krieger and Lifeson played a version of the Santana classic “Evil Ways” with longtime Santana singer Andy Vargas on vocals. Keyboardist Ed Roth, who frequently collaborates with Krieger, also took part in the jam.

The performance was part of the 2022 Medlock-Krieger Golf, Art Show & Guitars event, the latest installment of a multifaceted annual charity fundraiser co-founded by Krieger and his friend Scotty Medlock. This year’s event honored Medlock, who died of cancer last November at the age of 53.

Clips of two other performances from the show were posted on the Heavy Metal Hill YouTube channel, featuring founding Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine and his current group, California Transit Authority, joined by onetime Journey singer Jeff Scott Soto for versions of Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4” and “Saturday on the Park.”

When it was announced that Melissa Villaseñor would be leaving Saturday Night Live before the show’s current 48th season, it came as a surprise to fans. The actress’s gift for impressions of stars like Dolly Parton and others were popular, so her exit after six seasons was something of a head-scratcher — and came around the time of other high-profile exits, like Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson.

However, in a new interview with The Daily Beast podcast The Last Laugh, Villaseñor revealed it was her decision to walk.

“At the end of the day it was about my mental health,” the comedian and author of the new book Whoops…I’m Awesome says.

She continues, “Last season, I had a couple of panic attacks … I was struggling. I always felt like I was on the edge of a cliff every week. And I was like, ‘I don’t want to be doing that to myself anymore.'”

Villaseñor continued, “And it’s not like the show was mean towards me or anyone. It was just how I handle things. I think I’m an introvert. When I’m in a big group of a lot of amazing people, and everyone’s speaking over everyone else, I think I tend to get small … That’s how I was in high school, too. And so I think that’s what caused it.”

Melissa says it was “super hard” to “part ways” with the show, because she loves SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels and was “so grateful” she got a chance to be part of it. “I shared with them that this was … all I wanted as a kid. So I’m going to carry that forever in my heart, that I got to experience that in my life.”

The Jimi Hendrix Experience‘s performance of “Purple Haze” from the forthcoming archival live album Jimi Hendrix Experience Los Angeles Forum: April 26, 1969 has been released as an advance digital track.

In addition, a companion video, featuring a montage of photos of Hendrix and his band taken at the concert, has premiered on Hendrix’s official YouTube channel.

As previously reported, the album, which can be preordered now, will be released November 18 and will be available on CD, as a two-LP vinyl and via digital formats.

The concert, which has never been released in its entirety before, features the group’s original lineup of Hendrix, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell performing a set that includes classics like “Foxey Lady,” as well as deeper cuts such as “Red House,” “Spanish Castle Magic” and “I Don’t Live Today.”

The show also features Hendrix doing his take on the “Star Spangled Banner” — several months before his historic performance of the national anthem at Woodstock — and an epic 17-minute medley combining “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” with Cream‘s “Sunshine of Your Love.”

One of the main support acts at the Forum concert was Chicago Transit Authority, which would soon shorten its name to Chicago. A new video featuring founding Chicago members Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Lee Loughnane sharing recollections about getting to tour with and open for the Jimi Hendrix Experience has debuted on Hendrix’s YouTube channel.

In the clip, Pankow says of Hendrix and his band’s live performances, “Nobody had the ferocity and the daring that Jimi and his trio had … I’m not so sure that the audience necessarily understood the musicality, but they felt the power. It was overwhelming. It was undeniable.”

Here’s the album’s full track list:

Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha guests on a new song from post-punk band Algiers.

The track called “Irreversible Damage” is available now via digital outlets. You can also watch its accompanying visualizer streaming now on YouTube.

“Irreversible Damage” will appear on the upcoming Algiers album Shook, due out February 24, 2023.

De la Rocha’s most frequent studio collaborator in recent years has been Run the Jewels: He guests on the rap duo’s past three albums. In 2016, he announced plans to release a solo album alongside the single “Digging for Windows,” though the record never materialized. Rage, of course, hasn’t released an album since 2000’s Renegades.

The “Killing in the Name” rocker may now have time for more collaborations as he continues to rehab his torn Achilles tendon, which he suffered during Rage’s reunion tour over the summer. The injury has forced Rage to cancel their European tour this year and their 2023 North American dates.
