Donald Glover will reportedly play one of Spider-Man’s funkiest villains in a movie for Sony Pictures.
The Hollywood Reporter says Glover, who wanted to play Spider-Man on the big screen before Andrew Garfield got the role, and who appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, will reportedly play Antoine Delsoin aka Hypno-Hustler in a film he’s producing.
The character from the late Guardians of the Galaxy creator Bill Mantlo made his debut in the disco days of 1978, and he used music to hypnotize victims before robbing them.
The project would be yet another Spidey-adjacent movie for Sony, in the vein of the hit Venom movies starring Tom Hardy and the notoriously drubbed Morbius with Jared Leto.
According to the trade, Eddie Murphy‘s son Myles Murphy is writing the project, and the music angle of the obscure character drew the attention of the actor and Emmy-winner Glover, who moonlights as recording artist Childish Gambino.
Incidentally, in addition to his small scene in Homecoming, Spidey-fan Glover voiced Spider-Man/Miles Morales in the Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man.
As previously reported, The Police guitarist Andy Summers has collaborated with Italian guitar quartet 40 Fingers on an instrumental take on The Police classic “Bring on the Night,” and now the song is here.
The new arrangement was recorded at Summers’ Harmonics of the Night photo exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, back in October, with the video showing him and the guys in 40 Guitars performing the track.
“Bring on the Night,” which was written by Police frontman Sting, was featured on the band’s sophomore album, 1979’s Reggatta de Blanc. It was also the title track to Sting’s 1986 live album, as well as the 1985 Michael Apted-directed documentary on Sting’s solo career.
As previously reported, Dino Danelli, drummer for the ’60s group The Rascals, died Thursday at the age of 78. Upon hearing the news, plenty of artists took to social media to pay tribute to the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.
E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt, who produced and directed the concert/theatrical event about the band, The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream, tweeted, “RIP Dino Danelli. One of the greatest drummers of all time. Rascals 1965-1971. Disciples Of Soul 1982-1984. On Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater in Once Upon A Dream 2013.”
Van Zandt’s wife, Maureen, who also produced and directed the show, called Danelli “a brilliant drummer and artist,” adding, “I’ll never forget all the happy moments we spent on Broadway during the run of our Rascals show. An original Disciple. An original, period.”
Billy Joel also paid tribute, tweeting, “He was one of the greatest drummers in popular music. My deepest sympathy to his family,” while KISS’ Paul Stanleynoted, “Dino was a drummer in a class of very few and a great guy. … What style. So great to watch and listen to.”
Despite having been the Man of Steel, Henry Cavill is also a massive geek, evidenced by videos of him painting miniatures from the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000.
And while he won’t be playing Superman any longer, he’ll get to make a “lifelong dream” come true.
Games Workshop, the fiercely protective owner of the intellectual property, will be teaming up with the LEGO movies‘ producer Vertigo Entertainment, Amazon, and Cavill as executive producer to finally bring the beloved franchise to both the big and small screens.
For the uninitiated, Warhammer 40K is set in the far future, and has the sweeping arc of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, intermingled with elements of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, with brutal battles spanning from the stars to the bloody trenches of 1,000 alien worlds.
The far-future sci-fi game has spawned a library’s worth of books, video games, tabletop miniatures and animated films.

(NEW YORK) — Two protesters from Tennessee surrendered Friday to face federal charges in New York for routinely harassing women entering a Planned Parenthood clinic on Manhattan’s Bleecker Street.
Bevelyn Beatty Williams, 31, and Edmee Chavannes, 41, violated the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act with a multiyear campaign to interfere with women who were seeking or providing lawful reproductive care, federal prosecutors said.
The clinic is regularly the scene of abortion-related protests, but Williams and Chavannes used force, threats of force and physical obstruction to impede women from entering the clinic since at least 2019, the indictment said.
“This office will remain committed to ensuring that healthcare facilities, their staff, and those seeking to obtain reproductive health services can continue to do so without unlawful interference,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.
On consecutive days in June 2020 — during the coronavirus pandemic — Williams and Chavannes used force against patients and staff members to keep them from going inside the clinic, the indictment said, quoting from a livestreamed video on Williams’ Facebook page: “This is going to be a wonderful day. We are going to terrorize this place.”
In one instance, Williams pressed her body against the patient entrance door, crushing a staff member’s hand. In another instance, Chavannes forced a woman against a metal barricade and screamed in her face, according to the indictment.
The two appeared briefly in Tennessee before they are transferred to New York for prosecution.
They are each charged with conspiracy to violate the FACE Act, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Williams faces an additional charge of violating the FACE Act through force, which carries up to 10 years.
The two protesters were named in a civil lawsuit filed in February 2021 by New York Attorney General Letitia James. James announced in April 2021 that her office had come to an agreement with the two women to stay outside the buffer zone or pay a $5,000 fine if they broke the agreement.
Prosecutors said the two have sought to harass women at reproductive health care clinics in Atlanta, where they stood inside the vestibule and yelled threatening comments at patients; Brooklyn, New York; and Fort Myers, Florida. Chavannes and Williams were also arrested for trespassing at a Planned Parenthood during an anti-abortion protest in Nashville, Tennessee, in July.

“In my personal life, when I became a parent, fear entered my realm,” Zoe said at a recent press event. “The fear of losing something that you love so much … and you just spend a great deal of your time creating these hypothetical scenarios that are just unimaginable.”
She adds, “When I read … the second script, that was her, that was Neytiri. I didn’t see it then. I see it now because my job wasn’t to see it. My job was to be it.”
Writer-director James Cameron, a father of four himself, agreed. “I hadn’t really thought of it in those terms, but that’s it. Exactly.”
Cameron expressed, “You may be fearless when you don’t have kids. You learn fear when you have kids, when you have something greater than yourself that you could lose. And that’s what both of your characters are dealing with.”
He continues, “You know, Sam plays a character that would go flying through the air with no parachute to land on the biggest, meanest predator on the planet to solve his problem; would he do that as a father of four?”
Cameron added with a laugh, “I’m thinking probably not.”

Nile Rodgers has worked with a ton of artists throughout his career, and now he’s adding a new one — Coldplay.
In an interview with The Sunat the Nordoff Robbins Carol Service fundraiser for Music Therapy in London earlier this week, Rodgers revealed he just worked with the band for the first time.
“We had a blast,” he shares. “What was great working with Coldplay is that we’re all in the room together and it’s sort of like a spiritual thing. It’s, like, they walk in and they say, ‘Do you want to join the circle or not?’” He joked, “I’m an old hippie, you’re speaking my language. ‘Let’s go.’”
(WASHINGTON) — The Jan. 6 committee is preparing to urge the Department of Justice to prosecute former President Donald Trump on criminal charges during its business meeting on Monday, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.
The committee has been debating the move for months and is largely symbolic.
Obstruction of an official proceeding and conspiracy to defraud the United States are two charges the committee plans to include in their criminal referral, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Another charge under discussion is insurrection, the sources said.

It seems America isn’t the only country where Christmas music is taking over the charts. In the United Kingdom, Wham!’s classic “Last Christmas” has returned to number one on the Official Singles Chart, the pair’s fifth number-one song.
This is the second week “Last Christmas” has held the top position. The last time it happened was on New Year’s Day 2021, at which point it held the record for the longest journey to number one. That record has since been broken by Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to see ‘Last Christmas’ by WHAM! has once again hit the Number 1 spot on the UK @officialcharts!” read a post on the late George Michael’s official Twitter account. “Thank you for all the love and support you continue to show the song.”
“Last Christmas” was originally released in 1984 and spent five weeks at number two on the chart, never reaching number one that year because of Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” The tune has been covered by a variety of artists, including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Backstreet Boys, Carly Rae Jepsen and Ashley Tisdale.
All who missed Alicia Keys‘ Holiday Masquerade Ball at the United Palace in New York will now have the chance to stream the event.
The singer’s one-night-only holiday performance will air Wednesday, December 21, at 7 p.m. ET. It will be exclusively available on Apple Music and the streaming platform’s TikTok page.
As previously reported, the masquerade ball saw the singer take the stage with some of her greatest hits, including “You Don’t Know My Name,” “Girl On Fire,” “No One,” “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Fallin’.” She also performed hits from her first holiday project, Santa Baby, and surprised fans with special guests JVKE and Jon Batiste.
