Adele was hit by a bizarre rumor — The Mirror reports the singer has sunk roughly $500,000 into a backstage breathing “bubble” to protect her voice during her residency. Apparently the concern is about how Las Vegas’ hot and humid climate might affect the British singer’s voice.

Nick Jonas revealed the four signs he exhibited prior to being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, which were weight loss, irritability, excessive thirst and frequent urination. He hopes his Instagram video will increase awareness.

Katy Perry has reached the lunch-making stage of motherhood. She told Extra that after doing her PLAY residency shows she will make daughter Daisy Dove‘s lunches. “I feel so much pride in cutting off the ends of the sandwiches with a full face of, like, sweaty makeup in my robe,” she said. “It’s such a science.”

Harry Styles helped a fan with a gender reveal at his Los Angeles concert. People reports that he helped a fan, who is four months pregnant, find out if she’s painting the nursery blue or pink. “It’s a …,” Harry said while backed by suspenseful drums, “GIRL!” Prior to the reveal he teased the crowd, “I know something you don’t know!”

Artists like Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan have sold the rights to their catalogs in recent years, and the latest catalog that’s been snapped up is that of the late Harry Nilsson.

The Grammy Award winner’s song publishing catalog has been acquired by BMG in a deal with his estate that also includes artist and writer revenue streams of his classic tunes. The company also plans to team up with Nilsson’s family on possible future projects in areas of film, television, books and more.

Nilsson, who passed away in 1994, had a two-decade-long career and is best known for such songs as “Without You”; “Everybody’s Talkin’” from the soundtrack to 1969’s Midnight Cowboy; and “One,” which was recorded by Three Dog Night, as well as such albums as Nilsson Schmilsson and Son of Schmilsson. He also collaborated with several big names, including co-writing “Mucho Mungo/Mt. Elga” and “Old Dirt Road” with John Lennon and “How Long Can Disco On” with Ringo Starr.

“We are delighted to have found a partner that shares our love and reverence for Harry’s legacy,” Nilsson’s family shares in a statement. “We look forward to a long relationship with BMG, working together to celebrate this true genius of pop music.”

Margot Robbie says her female-led ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ spin-off has been sunk

Margot Robbie‘s planned Pirates of the Caribbean movie has been sunk by ABC News’ parent company, Disney, according to the Oscar-nominated actress.

The spin-off would have been an attempt to resurrect the billions-grossing franchise after Disney dropped star Johnny Depp when accusations of domestic abuse were leveled against him by his ex Amber Heard.

“We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool,” Robbie explains of the swashbuckling adventure to Vanity Fair.

With a “but,” she added of Disney, “I guess they don’t want to do it.”

Time will tell if that means the studio is opening the door for a possible return of Jack Sparrow himself, following Depp’s win in his headline-grabbing U.S. defamation case against Heard’s 2018 op-ed, in which she said she had been abused.

However, during the course of the trial, Depp was revealed to have said he’d never reprise the role because of how quickly Disney torpedoed a sixth Pirates movie over Heard’s piece — even for “$300 million and a million alpacas,” to quote the court testimony.

Arlo Guthrie emerges from retirement with What’s Left of Me storytelling tour

Arlo Gurthrie decided to retire in 2020, but evidently it didn’t take: He’s going back on the road.

Speaking to Billboard, the folk music legend, who suffered a number of strokes in 2019, explains, “I decided I could recuperate better in front of a live audience, rather than just sit at home, and [my wife and I] both agreed I should get back out there as part of my rehabilitation.”

“There’s nothing like playing before a live audience,” he adds. But Guthrie’s new tour will feature more talking than playing. Called What’s Left of Me — A Conversation with Bob Santelli, the four-city theater trek is described as a “storytelling tour.” Guthrie will discuss his life and career with Santelli, the executive director of LA’s Grammy Museum. He’ll also talk about his famous dad, Woody Guthrie.

The shows will take place in Boston on April 1; Albany, New York, on April 21; West Long Branch, New Jersey, on April 28; and Stowe, Vermont, on May 27.

Guthrie, 75, says the stroke has affected his ability to play music, which is why he describes the show to Billboard as “a conversation between two people with maybe some music included.”

“I would rather have it that way,” he says. “There may be some young people who have no idea who I am, but who got dragged to these events by overenthusiastic friends or parents or even grandparents, and you’ve got to reeducate people and tell them where you’ve been and who you’ve been and make it as much fun as possible.”

And don’t worry fans: Guthrie will definitely be telling the story behind his perennial Thanksgiving favorite, “Alice’s Restaurant” aka “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree.”

Christina Applegate was seemingly overcome with emotion in Los Angeles Monday, where she unveiled her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Applegate, a breast cancer survivor, went public last August with her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

The actress’s Married with Children mom, Katey Sagal, and her Married brother, David Faustino, were also there to sing her praises, as was Applegate’s Dead to Me co-star Linda Cardellini.

“Humility, humor, fortitude, grace, bravery. I’ve watched you wear it all,” Sagal said. “To this day, you still call me mommy,” Sagal said to Applegate. “I love you so much, my sweetheart. You’re not alone. We’re all here.”

Later in the ceremony, Sagal helped Applegate to the podium to accept the award and stood with the actress, who now needs a cane to help her walk.

The actress said she remembered being 5 years old and walking the Walk of Fame after seeing Star Wars, exclaiming of the stars on the famous sidewalk: “I effing want one.”

“This day means the world to me,” said Applegate, who admitted she wouldn’t be able to stand for long because of her condition. Barefoot, she quipped, “I have a disease. You didn’t notice I’m not wearing shoes?”

Among those in the industry who showed up to lend their support was Selma Blair, who also has MS.

The 50-year-old actress nearly broke down when she closed by praising her daughter, 11-year-old Sadie Grace LeNoble. “The most important person in this world is my daughter. You are so much more than even you know,” Christina said, her voice shaking with emotion. “You are so beautiful and kind and smart and interesting. I’m blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to school … thank you for standing by me through all of this.”

Newly inducted Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo have made some new plans for next year. They are set to open dates on Pink’s newly announced Summer Carnival Tour.

The tour, which also features Brandi Carlile, kicks off July 24, with Benatar and Giraldo confirmed for six shows: Boston’s Fenway Park, Chicago’s Wrigley Field and Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, as well as concerts in Washington, DC, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Until then, Benatar and Giraldo have another exciting project about to launch. Their new show, INVINCIBLE – The Musical, a modern reimagining of Romeo & Juliet featuring their catalog of music, is set to have its world premiere November 22 at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, California. And fans can get a taste of what to expect when the rockers appear Tuesday on The Late Show with James Corden. In addition to chatting with the host, they’ll join members of the show’s cast to perform a special rendition of Benatar’s classic “Heartbreaker.”

Crypto trading site FTX under federal investigation amid bankruptcy

(NEW YORK) — The collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX is now the subject of an investigation by federal prosecutors in New York, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

Prosecutors join regulators from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in investigating the circumstances of FTX’s bankruptcy.

At issue, the sources said, is whether FTX violated securities laws when it reportedly gave customer funds to Alameda Research, the trading firm of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York declined to comment.

Authorities in the Bahamas, where FTX was located, have also launched a criminal investigation, according to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police.

Earlier this month, concerns of financial instability at FTX — a top platform where users buy and sell crypto — triggered a wave of customer withdrawals totaling billions of dollars. But FTX lacked sufficient funds to pay sellers, instead imposing a halt on withdrawals altogether.

On Friday, FTX began bankruptcy proceedings in the U.S., as it assesses the value of its remaining assets, a company announcement said.

Bankman-Fried, 30, a prominent crypto entrepreneur and the CEO of FTX, resigned on Friday, the announcement added.

The fall of FTX centers in part on the cryptocurrency exchange’s close relationship with Alameda Research, a crypto hedge fund also founded by Bankman-Fried.

FTX lent customer deposits to Alameda Research to help it meet its liabilities, and top executives at Alameda Research were aware of it, The Wall Street Journal reported.

FTX did not immediately respond to a request for comment from ABC News.

FTX faced a sudden selloff last week of a native cryptocurrency called FTT after news outlet CoinDesk reported that a significant portion of Alameda Research’s assets consisted of the token, calling into question the financial independence of FTX.

Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of rival crypto exchange Binance, announced that he would sell $580 million worth of the token, causing a further spike in customer withdrawals that totaled $5 billion in a single day.

The selloff, akin to a bank run, put FTX in a difficult position of meeting the sudden demand for customer funds.

Some crypto traders on the platform have said they cannot access their money and may never get it back. The debacle coincides with a rough year for crypto, as the value of bitcoin has fallen more than 60%.
