Juicy J’s video tribute was cut from Gangsta Boo’s funeral due to technical difficulties

A few star-studded video tributes were not played at Gangsta Boo‘s funeral. According to TMZ, there were technical issues that prevented the videos from being played on the church’s projector.

The virtual messages were from Three 6 Mafia‘s Juicy J, DJ EFN and Yelawolf, who shared their memories of the late rapper in their clips.

Juicy crowned Gangsta Boo the “Queen of Memphis,” reminisced on the final conversation they had after a show and expressed that he’s upset their journey has ended.

DJ EFN recalled meeting Gangsta Boo for the first time at SXSW in 2019, and Yelawolf, who referred to the late rapper as “family,” said that their relationship was one only they could understand.

Gangsta Boo’s funeral took place Saturday at Brown Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi. Among those absent was fellow Three 6 Mafia star DJ Paul, who’s been met with backlash for his failure to attend.

Paul responded to social media comments, revealing he paid for the service.

He explained that he’s on tour, but even if he wasn’t, he would not attend. “I don’t do funerals,” DJ Paul said.

Gangsta, born Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, passed away January 1 at the age of 43. The cause of her death has not been released.

Screen Actors Guild taps Sally Field for SAG Life Achievement Award

Oscar and Emmy winner Sally Field has been tapped for another honor: The Screen Actors Guild has announced the Forrest Gump star, about to be seen in February’s 80 For Brady, will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award.

The honor is bestowed upon a performer who upholds “the finest ideals of the acting profession,” and according to SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher, Field certainly does that.

She enthused, “Sally is an amazing actor with an enormous range and an uncanny ability to embody any character. I joyfully watched her early career when she portrayed Gidget and the Flying Nun and then, in ever more challenging roles, as Sybil and Norma Rae. She never stopped being extraordinary.”

The Nanny alumna continues, “Sally is a massive star with a working actor’s ethos – just keep doing the work, being as good as you can. Every stage of an actor’s life brings different opportunities, and you just need to keep working. Sally does not stop and we hope she never does.”

The 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 26, at 8 p.m. and be broadcast live on Netflix’s YouTube channel.

Lovers & Friends is coming back for round two. The festival, which launched last year, will return to the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on May 6.

Silversun Pickups & Butch Vig release video for collaborative “David Lynch” song

Silversun Pickups and producer Butch Vig have premiered the video for their collaborative song “David Lynch Has a Painting Made of Flies Eyes.”

The clip is just as strange as the song’s title suggests, and features several references to the acclaimed Blue Velvet director and Twin Peaks co-creator’s work. You can watch it now streaming on YouTube.

“David Lynch” is one of two new songs Silversun Pickups released with Vig last year under the moniker SSVU, the other being “Suzanne Ciani.”

Vig also produced the last two SSPU albums, 2022’s Physical Thrills and 2019’s Widow’s Weeds.

Members of GN’R, Poison & Mötley Crüe taking part in “80s Anthems” Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus, Poison drummer Rikki Rockett and Rob Zombie guitarist/current Mötley Crüe touring member John 5 are all taking part in the upcoming “80s Anthems” edition of Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp.

The program takes place May 4-7 in Los Angeles. Participants will be able to jam their favorite ’80s tunes alongside the all-star mentors, culminating with performances at the famed Viper Room and Whisky a Go Go venues.

At nearly 90, Willie Nelson ‘Don’t Know a Thing’ about slowing down

Willie Nelson will turn 90 at the end of April, but his new album will arrive long before then.

I Don’t Know a Thing About Love, Willie’s tribute to the legendary songwriter Harlan Howard, comes out March 3. Howard passed away in 2002.

The album’s first single is Willie’s take on “Busted,” which has been a hit for Johnny Cash & The Carter Family, Ray Charles and John Conlee. The remaining tracks include classics like “Tiger by the Tail,” “Life Turned Her That Way,” “Streets of Baltimore,” “She Called Me Baby” and “Too Many Rivers.”

Later this week, the five-part Willie Nelson & Family documentary premieres at Sundance Film Festival.

Jeremy Renner reveals he’s out of the hospital following serious New Year’s Day accident

After a potentially deadly accident on January 1, Jeremy Renner has revealed he’s home from the hospital.

In a reply to a tune-in post from the official Twitter account for his Paramount+ show Mayor of Kingstown, the 52-year-old Marvel movie star noted Monday evening, “Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” followed by a pair of prayer emojis and a heart.

Renner was run over by his 13,500-pound Snowcat plowing vehicle, suffering “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” that required emergency surgery and a stay in intensive care.

When he posted earlier Monday to his Instagram Stories a picturesque photo with the caption “missing my happy place,” it was assumed he was still in hospital; it’s possible, considering the tweet, that the outdoor enthusiast was referring to just being out and about around his Reno/Lake Tahoe spread.

The actor had just towed free a loved one’s car before the accident occurred; his Washoe County community was blanketed with 3 feet of snow. On an Instagram Story Tuesday, he posted a photo of a snow-covered road, advising, “It’s a rough ride over the pass. Be safe out there. Reno/Tahoe.”

The Weeknd drops music video for “Nothing is Lost (You Give Me Strength)”

Avatar: The Way of Water has been in theaters for over a month, but one of its original songs finally got the music video treatment: The Weeknd‘s “Nothing is Lost (You Give Me Strength).”

The singer quietly released the hotly anticipated video, which contains more than just a few clips of the #1 movie — including silhouettes of the Na’vi creatures as they maneuver around their planet, Pandora.

Some clips contain serene and breathtaking views of their home or Na’vi connecting with nature, while others show them running through a forest engulfed in flames. The Weeknd also makes appearances throughout the movie, with him standing against a hazy backdrop and staring off into the distance.

The singer recently told The Hollywood Reporter how much it means for him to be part of the Avatar franchise. He revealed he watched the first movie in 2009, which was “the darkest time of my life.”

The Weeknd had dropped out of school, was practically homeless and was questioning his decision to pursue a music career. “I remember I somehow got to see the film in theaters. I don’t know how I got in. It was such an escape from my real life that the film is tattooed in my brain,” he reminisced.

Now that he’s made music for the series that meant so much to him, The Weeknd revealed, “It feels [like] kismet and it’s a full-circle moment for me to be a part of something like this, because it is such an important film for me.”

George Michael’s estate denies they’ve approved of reported biopic

The estate of George Michael is denying a report from earlier this week that claimed a biopic on the late singer is in the works with their approval.

The report, initially posted in the Daily Mail, claimed the film was “in the final stages of development” with the backing of the singer’s estate. Theo James was reportedly the top contender to play the singer, who passed away in 2016. But now Michael’s estate is denying any involvement in the alleged project.

“To all of George’s Lovelies, fans and lovers of his music, a story has been published stating that George Michael’s family has endorsed a so called ‘biopic’ about his life,” read a statement from George Michael Entertainment. “On behalf of George’s family and GME we want to make it clear that there is no truth whatsoever in this story, we know nothing about this project and will not be endorsing it in any way.”
