AXS TV brings back Sunday Night Rocks, with new show ‘Rockstar Shuffle’ and more

AXS TV is bringing back its Sunday Night Rocks lineup starting February 19, which will include the brand new original series Rockstar Shuffle.

Rockstar Shuffle, kicking off at 8 p.m. ET, will feature rock icons sharing stories and memories from their careers, and showing off their personal music memorabilia. Twisted Sister‘s Dee Snider and Run DMC’s Darryl McDaniels are featured in the premiere episode, with Heart‘s Ann Wilson, Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent and more featured in future episodes.

Season 1 will also include appearances by Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, The Who’s Roger Daltrey, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, Rick Springfield, John Oates and others.

Sunday Night Rocks’ February 19 premiere also features the return of Parking Lot Payday, with Mötley Crüe fans being tested to find out how much they know about the rockers, followed by an airing of Mötley Crüe: The End – Live In Los Angeles.

Lil Jon wants compensation for Live Nation’s use of “Lovers and Friends” as festival name

Lil Jon is threatening to take legal action against Live Nation for the second edition of its Lovers and Friends festival.

As TMZ reports, the producer and his legal team wrote a letter to Live Nation about his exclusion in planning the festival. He’s requesting compensation for use of the festival’s title, which is named after his 2004 hit, claiming that his song is better known than Michael Sterling‘s 1991 song of the same name.

Jon’s request is reportedly not the first time he’s attempted to speak to Live Nation about his involvement in the festival. He started talks with the company in May 2022 but didn’t push too hard to ensure that last year’s show still went on.

He’s been attempting to settle the matter outside of the courtroom, TMZ reports.

Lewis Capaldi breaks record for most tickets sold for an indoor live show in Scotland

Lewis Capaldi broke a record in his native Scotland: he is now the music artist who has sold the most tickets for an indoor live show.

Lewis recently played at the P&J Live arena in Aberdeen, Scotland, and sold over 15,000 tickets for the show. IQ was first to report the news.

A representative for ASM Global, which operates the venue, confirmed Lewis’ show set the record for largest indoor crowd.

“P&J Live was the perfect venue for Lewis’ full-hearted songs and incredible production on his hugely successful arena tour,” programming director James Harrison said in a statement. “Nearly 15,000 fans from Scotland’s North East standing on the floor has to be seen to be believed, a unique sight in UK venues, an incredible atmosphere and a night to remember for everyone that was there.”

The record had previously been set by Scottish singer Gerry Cinnamon back in 2019.

Lewis is on tour in support of his forthcoming album, Broken By Desire to be Heavenly Sent, which arrives May 19. His tour runs until September 23, with a final stop set for Belfast, Ireland.

James Gunn lays out anticipated blueprint for Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC Comics universe

On Tuesday, Guardians of the Galaxy franchise writer-director turned co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn shared his and partner Peter Safran‘s anticipated blueprint to streamline the DC Universe.

Gunn began, “It’s one of our jobs … to make sure DC was connected in film, television, gaming and animation. That the characters are consistent, played by the same actors, and it works as one story.”

An early caveat was that films “like Matt Reeves‘ Batman, or Todd Philips‘ Joker” are clearly labeled as “DC Elseworlds,” outside the key DC continuity.

Gunn explained four projects coming out over the next year remain on the slate: Shazam: Fury of the Gods; The Flash, which Gunn called a “fantastic movie … that resets the entire DC Universe”; Blue Beetle; then Aquaman 2, which will lead into the first chapter of Gunn and Safran’s “eight- to 10-year plan.”

The projects range from animation to TV to film, including a toon called Creature Commandos that Gunn wrote and Waller, a live-action show starring Oscar winner Viola Davis reprising her Amanda Waller character.

The “true beginning of the DCU” will be called Superman: Legacy, written by Gunn and coming to theaters July 11, 2025.

Gunn also teased the TV series Lanterns, “almost like True Detective” but with Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

The filmmaker gushed about a “passion project” film adaptation of the comic The Authority; teased a TV series called Paradise Lost — “almost like Game of Thrones” but set on Wonder Woman’s home of Themiscyra; and the “introduction of the DCU’s Batman,” called The Brave and the Bold.

Gunn also mentioned an HBO Max show based on the Booster Gold hero, a revival of Swamp Thing and a “big science-fiction epic film” based on the comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young return to the ‘Billboard’ charts

The death of David Crosby on January 18 has brought renewed interest in his music, so much so that Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young have landed on Billboard’s Artist 100 chart this week. The Artist 100 measures artist activity across several key Billboard charts.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers land at 20 on this week’s chart, with two albums also returning to the Billboard 200 album chart.

The 1970 album Déjà Vu, which was their second studio album and their first with Neil Young, re-enters the chart at 129, while the band’s 2005 Greatest Hits album is at 156.

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss add more tour dates, reveal Red Rocks livestream

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are spending more time on the road together. The duo just announced a new set of dates for their Raising the Roof tour, supporting their most recent collaborative album, Raise The Roof.

The tour, featuring special guest JD McPherson, kicks off April 25 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and wraps up July 5 in Toronto. The tour also includes a June 18 appearance at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, Colorado.

Presale tickets go on sale Wednesday, February 1, at 10 a.m. local time, with the general sale set for Friday, February 3, at 10 a.m. A complete list of dates and more ticket sale information can be found at plantkrauss.com.

Latto lists “used” underwear on eBay after claim that she “can’t afford new panties”

Latto has put her underwear up for sale after being trolled by the “panty police.”

The rapper listed her cheetah-print panty on eBay for 99 cents, noting on Instagram that she started the auction “since I can’t wear them twice.”

“Latto’s everyday cheetah print panties. Used. As seen on Latto multiple times,” Latto added in the description of the listing, which garnered bids of hundreds of thousands of dollars. It was later removed from the site.

The temporary listing came after an internet troll suggested the rapper was wearing the same underwear in two different photos. “Can’t afford new panties?” the Twitter user snarked, to which Latto responded, “Oh no, it’s the panty police.”

She also took to her Instagram Story to show fans her underwear drawer, which included several different cheetah-print panties.

The Weeknd, Michael Bublé, Shawn Mendes up for multiple Juno Awards

The Weeknd is the top nominee for the 2023 Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys.

The “Blinding Lights” singer is nominated for six awards, including Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “Sacrifice,” Songwriter of the Year, the TikTok Juno Fan Choice award, Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year for Dawn FM.

Michael Bublé is up for Artist of the Year and Adult Contemporary Album of the Year for Higher. Shawn Mendes is nominated for Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “When You’re Gone” and the TikTok Juno Fan Choice award.

In the International Album of the Year category, Taylor Swift is nominated twice: once for Red (Taylor’s Version) and once for Midnights. Harry Styles‘ Harry’s House, Ed Sheeran‘s Equals and Lil Nas X‘s Montero round out the category.

Avril Lavigne has five nominations thanks to her 2022 album, Love Sux.

The Weeknd, Avril Lavigne & Tate McRae among top Juno Awards nominees

The Weeknd is the top nominee for the 2023 Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys.

The artist born Abel Tesfaye is nominated for six awards, including Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “Sacrifice,” Songwriter of the Year, the TikTok Juno Fan Choice, Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year for Dawn FM.

Avril Lavigne and Tate McRae each have five nominations. In addition to being up for Artist of the Year, Avril’s nominated for Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year for Love Sux, TikTok Juno Fan Choice and Single of the Year for “Bite Me.”

Tate, who’ll be performing at the ceremony, is up for Single of the Year for “she’s all i wanna be,” and Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year for i used to think i could fly. Tate’s also up for Songwriter of the Year and TikTok Juno Fan Choice.

Other nominees for Artist of the Year include Lauren Spencer-Smith, Shawn Mendes and Michael Bublé. Speaking of Shawn, he’s also up for Single of the Year for “When You’re Gone” and the Fan Choice award.

Imagine Dragons, Paramore, Panic! at the Disco among Kids’ Choice Awards nominees

Imagine Dragons, Paramore and the soon-to-be-disbanding Panic! at the Disco are among the nominees for the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

All three are up for the Favorite Music Group prize, along with 5 Seconds of Summer, Black Eyed Peas, BLACKPINK, BTS and OneRepublic.

Other nominees include Billie Eilish for Favorite Female Artist and GAYLE for Favorite Breakout Artist.
