After teasing it on TikTok, Metallica has premiered a new song called “If Darkness Had a Son.”
The seven-minute epic is available now via digital outlets and is accompanied by a video streaming now on YouTube.
“If Darkness Had a Son” will appear on the upcoming ‘Tallica album, 72 Seasons. It’s the third track to be released from 72 Seasons, following lead single “Lux Æterna” and the cut “Screaming Suicide.”
72 Seasons, the follow-up to 2016’s Hardwired…to Self-Destruct, is due out April 14.
Metallica will support 72 Seasons on a massive world tour, which begins in Europe in April before coming to the U.S. in August.
Travis Scott is wanted for questioning by police after a man claimed he was punched in the face at a Manhattan nightclub early Wednesday.
A sound engineer who works at Club Nebula in Midtown told the authorities that he was in a verbal dispute with another man that escalated into a physical altercation around 2 a.m., police said.
The 52-year-old victim alleged that the suspect punched him in the face, and did $12,000 worth of damage to an audio speaker and a video screen, police said.
Although police have not identified the suspect, the victim claims it was Scott.
The victim didn’t suffer visible injuries and refused medical attention, police said. The suspect fled the scene in a car.
(ATHENS, Ga.) — University of Georgia football player Jalen Carter, a projected top pick in the NFL draft, is wanted for reckless driving and racing tied to a crash that killed a player and staff member in January, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
An investigation found that Chandler LeCroy, a member of the team’s recruiting staff, and Carter were racing shortly after leaving downtown Athens and that alcohol impairment, racing, reckless driving and speed were contributing factors to the crash that killed LeCroy and Devin Willock, an offensive lineman, hours after celebrating UGA’s championship win.
Carter is the No. 1 overall prospect in this year’s draft, according to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. He is not participating in the workout portion of this week’s NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis but was scheduled to conduct interviews with teams, undergo a physical and was scheduled to address reporters Wednesday.

(WASHINGTON) — For the first time since his appointment of two special counsels to oversee investigations into both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Attorney General Merrick Garland is testifying before lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday for an annual oversight hearing.
Garland, who is famously tight-lipped in terms of discussing any aspects of ongoing criminal investigations before his department, will likely be pressed on a wide-ranging number of topics from investigators’ actions in the Trump and Biden cases, the new revelations of classified materials found in former Vice President Pence’s home, to the still-unresolved investigation into Biden’s son Hunter.
Other topics Garland could be pressed on — the department’s formal position regarding when prosecutors should recommend the death penalty for certain federal offenders, the recent arrest of former FBI special agent Charles McGonigal in New York over his ties to a Russian oligarch, DOJ’s civil rights investigations into alleged incidents of police brutality, and how DOJ is responding to various threats from abroad.
His appearance also comes as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Fox host Tucker Carlson unfettered access to thousands of hours of video from the Capitol during the Jan. 6 assault on Congress, despite warnings in the past from prosecutors that widespread release of such video could potentially compromise the safety of lawmakers. McCarthy on Tuesday defended giving the footage to Carlson and said other networks and the American public would get access to the video as “soon as possible” but did not commit to a timeline.
Musician and future Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Roger Daltrey was born in London, England.
In 1959, Daltrey founded a band called The Detours, which in 1964 was renamed The Who, with bandmates Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. Daltrey’s voice can be heard on such Who classics as “My Generation,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” “Baba O’Riley,” “You Better You Bet” and many others.
Daltrey also launched a solo career in 1973, releasing ten solo studio albums, and dabbled in acting, playing the title role in Tommy, the 1975 Ken Russell film inspired by The Who’s classic album. He also appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows over the years, including That ’70s Show, CSI, Tales from the Crypt and more.
Daltrey is also well known for his extensive charitable work, including his patronage of the United Kingdom’s Teenage Cancer Trust and its U.S. counterpart, Teen Cancer America.
As a member of The Who, Daltrey was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 2008. He was also appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services to music, entertainment and charity as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year’s Honor’s List of 2004.
Daltrey and The Who are set to release The Who with Orchestra Live at Wembley on March 31 and will launch a U.K. summer tour in July.
Three generations of women in a religious colony convene to chart out their futures in Sarah Polley’s Women Talking. The film is up for two Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards – picking up the coveted Best Picture nomination, as well as a nod for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The recognition means a lot to Polley, who tells ABC Audio about one of the biggest challenges she faced in getting to this point.
“People hear the title Women Talking differently than they hear a title like 12 Angry Men,” Polley says. “For some reason, the very act of women talking sounds offensive to some people. So, I think, just getting people to watch it is the biggest challenge.”
Polley says she never expected this kind of reception for her film.
“I’m just sort of enjoying every second of this. I mean, we didn’t know if we were going to end up part of this at all,” Polley says. “It’s really such a gift, the whole experience, I mean, truly.”
And while Women Talking focuses on hardships that the colony’s women faced, Polley says the story is universal and, in the end, hopeful.
“The film is ultimately for everybody. It’s for, you know, people from every background, every gender,” Polley said. “I think it was really exciting to realize that enough people had seen it and had responded to it to end up here today.”
The 95th annual Academy Awards ceremony airs Sunday, March 12, only on ABC.
(NEW YORK) — At least 38 people were killed and more than 80 others injured in a head-on collision between a freight train and a passenger train in Greece late Tuesday, officials said.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight in the town of Tempi along the Athens-Thessaloniki route at the entrance to the Vale of Tempe, a tree-lined gorge that separates the northern Greek regions of Thessaly and Macedonia. The two trains were running toward each other on the same track and the force of the high-speed collision derailed multiple cars, with some bursting into flames, according to Greece’s Hellenic Fire Service.
About 350 people were on board the northbound passenger train, which was traveling from Athens to Thessaloniki, according to the Greek rail operator Hellenic Train.
At least 150 firefighters, including some from specialized units, and 40 ambulances responded to the scene with the assistance of 32 police officers and 15 patrol vehicles, according to the Hellenic Fire Service.
The next morning, rescuers were still searching for survivors in the smoking wreckage, using cranes to lift the derailed carriages. Their efforts were initially focused on the first two cars, which had “overturned” and were “the most difficult to extricate,” a Hellenic Fire Service spokesperson said in a statement early Wednesday.
The impact of the collision left the passenger train’s restaurant car on top of two other cars. A blaze broke out in that carriage, with temperatures reaching as high as 1,300 degrees Celsius (2,372 degrees Fahrenheit), which “makes it difficult to identify the people inside,” the Hellenic Fire Service spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.
A 59-year-old Greek citizen has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the deadly crash, according to Greece’s Hellenic Police.
Meanwhile, authorities are still working to identify the dead, whose bodies were taken to the general hospital in the nearby city of Larissa, a Hellenic Police spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.
As for the injured, 72 remain hospitalized, including six in critical condition, while the rest have been treated and released, according to the Hellenic Fire Service.
The Greek government has declared three days of national mourning in the wake of the tragedy.
Greek Transport Minister Kostas Karamanlis announced his resignation on Wednesday after visiting the crash site in Tempi, saying he felt it was his “duty” to do so “as a minimum sign of respect” to the victims.
“When something this tragic happens, it is impossible to go on as if it didn’t happen,” Karamanlis wrote in a post on Facebook. “This is called political responsibility.”
KISS has finally announced an end date for their End of the Road Tour. The band is set to wrap the trek, which they say is their final tour ever, with a two-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden December 2 and 3.

The final leg of the tour kicks off October 29 in Austin, Texas, and includes Canadian dates, plus stops in Los Angeles, Seattle and more, before they end it in the Big Apple.

This will be the group’s first new music since 2012, when they put out their last album, North. Since then, frontman Rob Thomas has released three solo albums, including his 2021 holiday release, Something About Christmas Time.

(LONDON) — Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, may no longer have a residence in the United Kingdom to call home.
Harry and Meghan, who now live full-time in California, have been asked by Harry’s father, King Charles III, to exit Frogmore Cottage, their home since 2019, according to multiple reports.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for Harry and Meghan have commented on the reports.
Charles reportedly made the decision to move his son and daughter-in-law out of their home in January, shortly after Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare was released, according to ABC News contributor Omid Scobie.
According to Scobie and The Sun newspaper, Frogmore Cottage has instead been offered to Charles’ younger brother, Prince Andrew, who is no longer a working royal after facing scrutiny over his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Harry and Meghan are also no longer senior working royals after stepping down from their roles in 2020, becoming financially independent and moving to California.
The reported changes with Frogmore Cottage come less than six months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September, at which point Charles, her eldest son, became king.
In 2019, the queen allowed Harry and Meghan to move from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage, which sits on the grounds of Windsor Castle, about 25 miles outside of London.
The couple renovated the home — an 18th century house that had been converted into apartments for royal staff — and moved in shortly before the May 2019 birth of their first child, a son named Archie.
When Harry and Meghan stepped down from their senior royal roles one year later, they agreed to pay back to U.K. taxpayers the approximately $3 million price tag for the Frogmore Cottage renovations.
After that, the couple kept the home as their official U.K. residence and retained financial responsibility for the property.
As they lived full-time in California, the Sussexes shared the home at one point with Andrew’s daughter Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank.
When Harry and Meghan returned to the U.K. last year for the queen’s jubilee and then several months later for her funeral, they stayed at Frogmore Cottage. Glimpses of the home were also seen recently in the couple’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan.
In the docuseries, Harry and Meghan spoke about how they thought they would raise their children at Frogmore Cottage and live their lives there.
“It never needed to be this way,” Harry said in the series. “We talked about this over and over again, sitting up late in the kitchen after these late-night engagements, saying, ‘We would have carried on doing this for the rest of our lives.'”
The Sussexes have made only rare visits to the U.K. since leaving their royal roles and amid a legal battle over security protection while they are in the U.K.
In his recent memoir, Harry described tensions within his family, particularly between himself and his father and brother Prince William.
Harry told Good Morning America co-anchor Michael Strahan in an interview prior to the memoir’s release that he did not believe the details he shared in Spare could make things any worse with his family.
“I have thought about it long and hard,” Harry said. “And as far as I see it, the divide couldn’t be greater before this book.”
Neither Kensington Palace — the office of Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales — nor Buckingham Palace, the office of Charles and Camilla, the Queen Consort, have commented on the claims Harry made in Spare.
