Wes Anderson has always managed to score impressive casts for his films, but the Moonrise Kingdom director may have outdone himself for his latest, Asteroid City.
Tom Hanks stars as an ornery, pistol-packing grandfather in the movie, which just debuted its trailer. But the ’50s-set film also stars Scarlett Johansson as a screen siren, as well as Steve Carell, Rita Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Jeffrey Wright and Liev Schreiber, just to name a few.
Asteroid City is an alien invasion movie, as only Anderson could make: All of the characters in the trailer machine gun their dialogue in the filmmaker’s signature droll fashion, as they come to grips with an alien landing where a famous meteor once did, in Arizona.
Universal Pictures teases, “The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention — organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition — is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.”
Operation Ivy may still be broken up, but half of the legendary punk band is getting back together.
Guitarist Tim Armstrong and vocalist Jesse Michaels have launched a new band called Bad Optix. You can listen to the group’s debut single, “Raid,” now via digital outlets.
Along with the former Op Ivy bandmates, Bad Optix includes ex-Queens of the Stone Age drummer JoeyCastillo.
Op Ivy was a seminal band of California’s East Bay punk scene of the ’80s, which also produced Green Day. Following the group’s brief but impactful two-year run, Armstrong went on to form Rancid alongside Op Ivy bassist Matt Freeman.
AC/DC’s Malcolm Young called Brian Johnson, former singer of the band Geordie, and invited him to replace their late frontman, Bon Scott.
The band released their first album with Johnson, Back In Black, in July 1980. It went on to become one of the biggest albums in music history, selling more than 25 million copies in the U.S. alone, although it never reached number one in the U.S. It featured future AC/DC classics “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Hells Bells” and the title track.
Johnson, along with the rest of AC/DC, went on to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
He temporarily stepped away from the band in 2016 due to hearing problems, but rejoined the group in 2018 for their album Power Up, which was released in 2020.
Now for another round of America’s favorite game show: What’s going on with Rage Against the Machine?
The “Killing in the Name” outfit finally launched their reunion tour last summer after it had been postponed from 2020, marking the first time they’ve played live together since 2011. However, frontman Zack de la Rocha tore his Achilles tendon during just the second show on the run. While he finished the U.S. leg while performing sitting down, the band’s U.K. and European dates, as well as their 2023 U.S. leg, were canceled so he could recover.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Tom Morello was asked whether Rage plans to return to the road once de la Rocha is all healed. His response? “We’ll see.”
“If there is to be any more shows, we will announce it as a band,” Morello says. “I don’t know. I know as much as you do, honestly.”
Morello was then asked what “term” he would use to describe Rage’s current status, to which he replied, “There is no term.”
“Rage Against the Machine is like the ring in Lord of the Rings,” Morello says. “It drives men mad. It drives journalists mad. It drives record industry people mad. They want it. They want the thing, and they’re driven mad.”
“If there are Rage shows, if there are not Rage shows, you’ll hear from the band,” he continues. “I do not know. When there is news, it will come from a collective statement from the band. There is no news.”
Also during the interview, Morello addressed various “misunderstandings” about Rage’s tour last year, clarifying the band never “had a vaccination requirement to be in the room” and that the money brought in from any tickets sold with “dynamic pricing” was donated to charity.

March 28 marked the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy, and guitarist Jimmy Page marked the occasion by sharing a special treat with fans.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist shared an early demo he called “The Seasons,” which eventually became “The Rain Song.” He explained that the clip “was a memo to myself as a reminder of the sequence of the song and various ideas I’d had for it in its embryonic stage.”
The more than seven-minute “The Rain Song” was one of many classic tunes that appeared on Houses of the Holy. Others include “The Song Remains The Same” and “Dancing Days.”
Rachel Recchia, who co-starred alongside Gabby Windey on season 19 of The Bachelorette, showed her support for Gabi Elnicki following her emotional breakup with Zach Shallcross on Monday’s season 27 Bachelor finale.
“Showing emotion like this takes so much vulnerability, gabi you are a queen!” Recchia tweeted while watching Gabi and Zach’s confrontation aired on After the Final Rose.
Elnicki said she felt “ashamed” after Zach told Kaity Biggar — and “the whole nation” — that they’d been intimate during their overnight date.
“It was consensual and it was what we wanted. We decided that it was going to be between us,” the 25-year-old Vermont native told Shallcross. “We said that that night. And I remember I was brushing my teeth, you came up behind me, you kissed me on the back of my head, you said, ‘This is just between us.’ And I said, ‘Yes, this is just between us.'”
“I thought it was love. I thought it was more than a TV show,” Gabi continued, choking back tears. “I get it, sex sells, but now I’ve become a narrative.”
Zach offered his apology, explaining, “In my mind, it was just the secret that I had to not have. The last thing I wanted to do was hurt you like that… From the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry.”

Real Housewives of Atlanta alumEva Marcille has filed for divorce from her husband of over four years, Michael Sterling.
The former America’s Next Top Model winner, 38, filed for divorce on March 23 and stated that their marriage was “irrevocably broken,” according to documents obtained by People. Her attorney added in the filing that the pair “are currently living in a bona fide state of separation.”
In a statement to People, Marcille said, “This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but sometimes life takes your journey in a direction you were not expecting.”
“Our children remain our biggest priority and the eight and half years we have spent together will always be cherished,” she continued. “We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
Sterling and Marcille tied the knot in October 2018. They welcomed their sons Michael Sterling Jr., 4, and Maverick Sterling, 3, in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Marcille also has 9-year-old daughter Marley Rae from her previous relationship with ex Kevin McCall.
The model and actress is seeking legal and primary custody of their children and child support with “care and maintenance” and medical costs. She is also requesting that the pair’s assets gained during their marriage — including her own separate property — and debts be equally divided.

(NEW YORK) — When Candace Henley, 55, was diagnosed with colorectal cancer 20 years ago, all she wanted was to see her youngest child turn 18.
“I wouldn’t ask [God] anything, but in return I would do what I needed to do to save someone else from going through the trauma that I and my family went through,” Henley told ABC News’ Good Morning America.
Now a cancer survivor, Henley is making it her mission to educate others about the disease and save lives.
What is colorectal cancer?
Henley was 35 years old when she was diagnosed with the disease.
She told GMA that she recalled being in “so much pain.”
“I couldn’t stand up,” she said. “Finally, one of my cousins said we’re going to the emergency room.”
According to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, colorectal cancer or CRC is a “disease of the colon or rectum.”
Signs include abnormal growths in the colon or rectum that can turn into cancer if not removed, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, someone could have polyps or colorectal cancer and not know it, according to the CDC.
The disease typically occurs in people ages 45 and older, but is on the rise among younger people, according to the CCA.
Earlier this month, the American Cancer Society reported that one in five cases of the disease in 2023 occurred in people under 55. Colon cancer is also the most common cancer and the second most common cancer death in the U.S., according to the ACS.
“Colorectal cancer is one of those things that people really don’t like to talk about,” Sophie Balzora, a gastroenterologist and clinical professor of medicine at New York University, told GMA. “And it does prevent people from going to the doctor to talk about their symptoms or even just talking about screening.”
Health experts like Balzora have stressed the importance of getting screened regularly for colorectal cancer as a way to reduce the risk of it. Screening for colorectal cancer should begin at age 45, according to the CDC, but if you have a family history of it, you should get screened earlier for the disease.

Henley is now using her story to raise awareness about the disease, especially among those in the Black community, where rates are the highest of any racial or ethnic group in the U.S., according to the ACS.
Henley founded The Blue Hat Foundation in 2015, with the goal of raising awareness about CRC. It began at her church and has since expanded into a thriving organization.
“We’re trying to make sure that we connect the patient to what they need,” Henley said.
“I don’t want anyone to go through what I did,” she added. “Communities of color will continue to be left behind in research if we don’t participate willingly this time. We have to do our part to help improve our community’s health outcomes and it’s not enough to complain and wait. We must be proactive, educate ourselves and make informed decisions about our health.”

Paramount+ has picked up Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks for a third and fifth season, respectively, the streamer announced on Tuesday. Strange New Worlds follows the USS Enterprise crew in the decade before the original Star Trek series took place and stars Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock.
