After breaking up in 1982, The Doobie Brothers reunited to release their 10th studio album, Cycles.
The album featured most of the 1972-1974 lineup, with Tom Johnston, John Hartman and Michael Hossack rejoining the band for the first time since 1977, 1979 and 1974, respectively.
The first single from the record, “The Doctor,” was a Top 10 hit for The Doobie Brothers, landing at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, and at #1 on the Mainstream Rock charts. The album peaked at 17 on the Billboard 200.
Paramount Pictures finally dropped the official trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One on Wednesday morning, and it’s intense.
“You can’t escape your past,” warns Henry Czerny‘s Kittridge — the thorn in the side of Tom Cruise‘s superspy Ethan Hunt from the very first film. “Ethan: This mission is gonna cost you dearly.”
Series newcomer Hayley Atwell says in voiceover, “The world is changing. Truth is vanishing. War is coming,” amid footage of a submarine destroying another with a torpedo.
The trailer also gives a closer look at the heavy, played by Esai Morales. “It’s been a long time, friend,” he tells Hunt. “You have no idea the power I represent. It knows your story, and how it ends.”
Guardians of the Galaxy vet Pom Klementieff, her face decorated in harlequin makeup, apparently plays his deadly right-hand henchwoman.
Morales’ as-yet-unrevealed character threatens Hunt’s team, again played by returning players Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Rebecca Ferguson, which is obviously a mistake. “If anything happens to them, there’s no place I won’t go to kill you,” Hunt replies.
“Ethan: None of our lives can matter more than this mission,” Rhames’ Luther tells Cruise’s character. “I do not accept that,” Hunt answers flatly.
Interspersed with the dialogue and hints of the mysterious plot are intense action set-pieces: car chases, gunfights, horseback pursuits and a knife fight on top of a speeding train — and inside it — as it falls from an exploding bridge, rendering everyone inside weightless.
Of course, there’s the feat Cruise has called the most dangerous he’s ever done: His driving a speeding motorcycle off a cliff, launching the actor into the air for a skydiving stunt.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One explodes into theaters July 12.
Yusuf/Cat Stevens is back with another song from his upcoming album, King of a Land. The latest is the track “All Nights, All Days.”
In the tune, Yusuf/Stevens blasts how “the rich tax the poor,” suggesting that the only way to fix things is to “lock those leaders in London’s Zoo.” Yusuf/Stevens notes, “The only way that we can get on in peace is to get rid of most of them. Not all, perhaps. But most.”
“All Nights, All Days” is the third single Yusuf/Stevens has released from King of a Land, following the title track and “Take The World Apart.” The album, which is due out June 16, is available for preorder now.
Yusuf/Stevens has a few shows scheduled for this year starting in Berlin, Germany, on June 12. He’s also set to play the U.K.’s famed Glastonbury Festival on June 25. A complete list of dates can be found at catstevens.com.
Martha Stewart shot back at critics of her Sports Illustrated cover who accused the 81-year-old domestic diva of having cosmetic surgery.
“Well, it’s not true. I’ve had absolutely no plastic surgery whatsoever,” Stewart tells Variety in an interview published on Tuesday. “I have very healthy, good hair. I drink green juice every day. I take my vitamins. I eat very healthfully. I have very good skin doctors. I’m very careful in the sun. I wear hats and I wear sunblock every single day.”
In response to naysayers who contend the photos, which she shared on Instagram, were heavily retouched Martha insists, “They are incredibly accurate,” adding, “I was really pleased that there was not much airbrushing.”
Asked if she would ever consider plastic surgery or fillers, she admits, “Every now and then there are certain fillers that I can do for a little line here or there, but I hate Botox. It’s a weird thing for me. I really and truly don’t do a lot.”
When asked if there’s a Martha Stewart calendar on the way, she shared, “Well, I am sending one to a friend who asked for it. So I am making one for fun.”
On Wednesday, Paramount+ debuts The Family Stallone, a new reality show starring Sylvester, wife Jennifer and their adult daughters Scarlett, Sophia and Sistine.
ABC Audio caught up with the famous clan and asked if they had to twist Sly’s arm to get him to play the real-life family man on TV.
“At first, you were a little hesitant,” Jennifer said to the action icon.
“I was a little hesitant because it’s uncharted waters,” Sly responded. “I’m used to doing films, you go, ‘Is this a step down?’ I go, ‘No, actually, this is the future in a way.’ So let me try to do it while the girls are still here and they don’t have boyfriends, that kind of thing,” the protective dad says, miming slitting his own throat.
In the series, Sly’s famous friends also pop up, including somebody nobody would have expected to see on a reality show: Oscar winner Al Pacino.
“I totally tricked him,” Sly admitted to laughs. “First of all, I just go, ‘Hey, Al, how about we share a piece of pizza together this afternoon?’ And I didn’t expect him to go, ‘OK.’ He goes, ‘Yeah, I’ll meet you at Mulberry Street Pizza.'”
Stallone continues, “He shows up. We’re sitting down, having a piece of pizza. My brother [Frank], Dolph Lundgren. It’s kind of an odd setup. And sure enough, the cameras come in from the curb everywhere, he goes, ‘What is this? What is — what, am I being ganged up on?!’ And it was classic Pacino,” Sly laughs imitating the star, “I’m getting out of here!”
Stallone says, “It was just great. And then he loved it. Fantastic.”
Marvel Studios’ Feige teases ‘Secret Invasion’ — Disney General Entertainment/Jennifer Pottheiser
At Disney’s Upfront presentation, held at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Tuesday, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm teased their upcoming projects bound for Disney+.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed the second season of the critically acclaimed Loki, starring Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston — as well as embattled co-star Jonathan Majors — will drop on October 6.
Feige also touted that Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan has joined the cast for the second season, and while footage also showed Majors reprising as Kang the Conqueror, he wasn’t mentioned by name. The series was already wrapped before Majors’ arrest on domestic violence charges; the actor has denied the allegations.
On November 29, the studio will debut every episode of its Hawkeye spin-off Echo, starring deaf actress Alaqua Cox reprising as the title character, aka Maya Lopez. The show will also star Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Charlie Cox as Daredevil/Matt Murdock.
Feige also showed a scene between MCU veterans Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine) from Secret Invasion, premiering June 21 on the streaming service.
On the Star Wars side of things, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy introduced sneak peeks of the upcoming shows The Acolyte, starring Logan‘s Dafne Keen and Amandla Stenberg, and Skeleton Crew, led by Jude Law. There was also an extended look at Ahsoka featuring lead Rosario Dawson in her own spin-off from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
The Voice is pulling out all the stops for its two-night season finale on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
In addition to an already announced performance by Maroon 5, Lewis Capaldi and former coach CeeLo Green will both perform, as will Alex Newell, star of the Broadway show Shucked.
In addition, Diplo and Lily Rose will perform their song “Sad in the Summer,” while Toosii will perform his top 10 hit “Favorite Song.” Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, Blake Shelton and Chance the Rapper will all perform with their final artists.
And speaking of coaches, most of the show’s former ones will appear to say goodbye to Blake Shelton, who’s leaving the show. There will be appearances from Camila Cabello, Usher, Pharrell Williams, John Legend and Nick Jonas, plus Blake’s wife, Gwen Stefani. Jennifer Hudson and Dolly Parton round out the guest list.
The five finalists on The Voice are Gina Miles, Noivas, D. Smooth, Sorelle and Grace West.
Monday’s show airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT; Tuesday’s episode airs at 9 p.m. ET.
As previously teased, Foo Fighters have premiered another new song off their upcoming album But Here We Are.
The track is called “Under You,” and follows the lead single “Rescued.” Like “Rescued,” “Under You” seems like it could be about late Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins with lyrics such as “Someone said I’ll never see your face again/Part of me just can’t believe it’s true.”

But Here We Are, the first Foos album following Hawkins’ death in March 2022, arrives June 2.
Along with the new song, Foo Fighters have also announced a free streaming concert airing this Sunday, May 21, at 3 p.m. ET via the streaming platform Veeps.
The performance will include the live debut of But Here We Are songs, as well as “exclusive behind the scenes footage and a few surprises. Notably, it’s also the first Foo Fighters concert since their massive tribute shows to Hawkins last September, and, presumably, will mark the debut of their new drummer.
Hulu has given The Kardashians a 20-episode extension ahead of the show’s May 25 season 3 premiere, the streamer announced on Tuesday. (NEW YORK) — A member of the Idaho jury that convicted Lori Vallow Daybell in the murders of her two youngest children is speaking out for the first time.
“Growing up, you talk about good and bad, god and evil. And I think for the first time in my life, I put a face to evil,” juror Saul Hernandez told ABC News in an exclusive interview that aired Wednesday on Good Morning America.
Lori and her husband, Chad Daybell, were both charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the 2019 deaths of her two youngest children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “J.J.” Vallow. The children were last seen alive in September 2019 and were reported missing by extended family members that November. Their remains were found on Chad’s property in eastern Idaho’s Fremont County in June 2020, according to authorities.
The couple were also charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Chad’s ex-wife, 49-year-old Tamara Daybell, who died of asphyxiation of in October 2019, less than a month before Lori and Chad married. Chad was also charged with his former wife’s murder.
Both Lori and Chad pleaded not guilty to their charges. Last month, a Fremont County judge allowed their cases to be tried separately, with Lori’s first and Chad’s expected to start at a later date.
Lori was deemed fit to stand trial last year following a 10-month stint at an Idaho mental health facility. Her defense attorneys had said they did not plan to raise a mental health defense at the guilt-phase portion of the trial.
During Lori’s six-week trial, prosecutors argued that she and her husband thought the children were zombies and murdered them. Chad has authored many religious fiction books and is Lori’s fifth husband. The couple both reportedly adhered to a doomsday ideology, with Lori at one point claiming she was “a god assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020” and didn’t want anything to do with her family “because she had a more important mission to carry out,” according to court documents obtained by ABC News.
The defense characterized Lori as a devoted mother who loved her children and Jesus, but that all changed near the end of 2018 when she met Chad.
As a juror, Hernandez said he felt Lori’s beliefs began with “curiosity” but were solidified “once Chad came into the picture.”
“They wanted to believe something that only applied and benefited them, only applied and benefited those people they liked, their circle that they liked and they wanted to be around,” Hernandez told ABC News.
Prosecutors argued that Lori set a plan for the children’s murder in motion in October 2018 “using money, power and sex,” and that she and her husband “used religion to manipulate others.” Lori was additionally charged with grand theft related to Social Security survivor benefits allocated for the care of her children that prosecutors said were appropriated after they were reported missing and ultimately found dead. Meanwhile, Chad was additionally charged with two counts of insurance fraud related to life insurance policies he had on Tamara for which prosecutors said he was the beneficiary.
Prosecutors also shared photographs of Lori and Chad dancing on a beach during their wedding in Hawaii when her children’s bodies were buried in his backyard. Hernandez told ABC News that he was “disgusted” by the images while sitting in the jury.
“I didn’t want to look at them,” he said. “I just couldn’t believe how someone can be that happy when your kids are in the ground. And the person that was key in all of this is sitting across from you, smiling at you and dancing with you on the beach.”
Last Friday at a Boise courthouse, the 12-member jury reached a verdict after two days of deliberations, finding Lori guilty on all charges. The defense declined to comment on the verdict at the time.
Hernandez revealed that the deliberations took two days because he was the only juror holding out on one of the murder charges.
“I just didn’t feel like at that timeline with Tylee, we were quite there yet,” he told ABC News. “And if we were, I perhaps was missing it.”
But on the second day, after reviewing the evidence, Hernandez agreed that Lori was guilty.
“I don’t think, as a human being, you are ever really prepared to experience this,” he told ABC News. “As the case progressed, as the evidence came to light, testimony was shared, it was harder to look at her.”
Lori faces up to life in prison without parole. The judge had granted the defense’s motion to dismiss the death penalty in her case.
