(WASHINGTON) — Republican Sen. Ron Johnson said Sunday he was not surprised that peace talks between the U.S. and Iran stalled over the weekend, and that securing U.S. goals in Iran could be a “long-term project.”

“I’m not surprised at all,” Johnson told ABC News’ “This Week” co-anchor Martha Raddatz. “The ayatollahs, even though they have been so degraded in terms of their capabilities, nobody thought this would be easy. They’ve been preparing for this for 47 years.”

Peace talks between the U.S. and Iran in Islamabad ended over the weekend after Vice President JD Vance said Iran would not agree not to seek a nuclear weapon, a key sticking point for President Donald Trump and his administration.

But just before the peace efforts failed, Trump told reporters that he did not care if the U.S. made a deal with Iran, saying that the U.S. would win either way. But as the fate of the war remained uncertain Sunday, Johnson said that the job was not finished in Iran.

“We will not have won until we have completely defanged the Iranian regime,” Johnson said. “There’s multiple ways of potentially doing it. Short-term, long-term there are multiple avenues we can approach here. But we have not yet finished the job.”

Johnson later added that he did not think preventing Iran from having a nuclear weapon would require ground troops, but he also emphasized the need to remove Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, which others have speculated would require ground troops.

Another sticking point for both countries was control over the Strait of Hormuz, critical to the world’s oil traffic. Iran’s blockade of the strait has sent global oil prices skyrocketing, leading to higher gas prices in the U.S.

Johnson raised the possibility Sunday that the U.S. could block oil coming from the strait from going to China or Russia, as reports have emerged saying the two countries may be helping Iran in the war.

On Sunday morning, Trump announced on his social media platform a blockade of all traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

“Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote.

A woman who has allegedly been stalking former Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham and is believed to have thrown an unknown substance on the singer-guitarist has been arrested, according to police.

Michelle Dick, 55, was arrested without incident in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Saturday and is currently being held at the Allen County jail pending extradition to California, police said.

She is facing six felony charges and one misdemeanor charge for alleged stalking, battery and assault of Buckingham on March 25 in Santa Monica, California.

Dick is accused of throwing an unknown substance on him and damaging his vehicle before fleeing the area.

Sources told ABC News at the time that the woman is known to law enforcement from previous incidents.

Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac with his then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks in 1975, and the couple became part of Fleetwood’s best-known lineup, along with drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie and singer-keyboardist Christine McVie.

Buckingham was a member of the group from 1975 to 1987 and from 1996 to 2018.

No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont has shared that he’s been diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease.

“A number of years ago, I was experiencing a number of symptoms,” Dumont, 58, shares in a video posted to Instagram. “I went to my doctor, I went to a neurologist, and I did a whole bunch of tests, and I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease.”

“It’s been a struggle, it’s a struggle everyday,” he adds.

Dumont says that he can still play music and guitar — “I’ve been doing really well,” he says –and indicates that he’ll still be performing with No Doubt at their upcoming residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, which begins in May.

“I’m really excited about the shows,” Dumont says. “I can’t wait to see everybody.”

Dumont also says he feels inspired by other people who’ve talked about their own health issues publicly. The posts tags the foundation of actor Michael J. Fox, who’s long been open about his battle with Parkinson’s.

“I think it helps erase some of the stigma, and it raises awareness, obviously,” Dumont says. “Awareness is really important for prevention and for research.”

After being arrested March 4 for suspected DUI, Britney Spears has now entered rehab, ABC News has confirmed. A rep for Britney confirmed that the singer has “voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility.”

According to TMZ, which was the first to report the news, Britney was urged to get help by those close to her, and she finally agreed to do so, in part because of the pending DUI case. Her sons Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline, with whom she was recently reunited, are said to be very supportive of her decision, as per TMZ.

Following her arrest, a rep for Britney told ABC News that the singer “hopefully … can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” adding, “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”

Britney is slated to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on May 4, according to court records.

At the end of March, Britney wrote on Instagram, “Thank you guys for all your support.”

Sabrina Carpenter posted an apology on Saturday after being confused by a fan’s expression of enthusiasm during her Coachella headlining set on Friday.

At one point during her show, Sabrina was sitting at the piano when one fan let out what’s called a zaghrouta, a vocal ululation which is performed to honor someone. As documented in video of the encounter, Sabrina said, “I think I heard someone yodel. Is that what you’re doing? I don’t like it.”

When the fan yelled, “It’s my culture!” Sabrina replied, “That’s your culture, is yodeling?”

“It’s a call of celebration,” the fan explained. “Is this Burning Man? What’s going on? This is weird,” Sabrina replied.

This caused outrage on social media, as fans took Sabrina to task for being culturally insensitive.

On Saturday, Sabrina took to X to write, “my apologies i didn’t see this person with my eyes and couldn’t hear clearly. my reaction was pure confusion, sarcasm and not ill intended. could have handled it better! now i know what a Zaghrouta is! I welcome all cheers and yodels from here on out.”

Also on Saturday, Sabrina made a surprise appearance at her Airbnb “Sabrina’s Pit Stop” pop up, located on the road to Coachella. The pit stop was primarily designed as a photo op with vintage cars, merch and custom slushies, as well as The Pretty Girl Clean-Up Crew van from her video for “House Tour.”

When Sabrina appeared, she distributed espresso-flavored slushies, of course, and took photos with fans. She also joked that the water she drenched herself with during her set-closing performance of “Tears” on Friday night was “not warm.”

Justin Bieber brought out quite a few guests during his Saturday night set at Coachella, but his most unexpected one was his younger self.

Justin started his set with songs from his 2025 albums SWAG and SWAG II, before using the laptop he’d brought onstage to pull up videos of his past hits, which he then sang along to. This made for a meta moment where Justin was singing along with YouTube, while YouTube streamed him live on its Coachella feed.

In addition to singing along with hits like “Baby,” “Beauty and a Beat,” “Favorite Girl,” “Never Say Never,” “All Over the World” and “Sorry,” Justin also threw it way back, duetting with his 13-year-old self on his cover of Ne-Yo’s “So Sick,” which he’d uploaded to YouTube years before he became famous. In fact, that particular clip helped him get discovered.

“How far back do you guys go?” Justin said, referring to the fans. “Do you guys really go back, though? Like for real, for real?”

Justin also streamed some non-musical clips, including his now-legendary “It’s not clocking to you that I’m standing on business” paparazzi rant, parts of which he recited along with himself. He even pulled up viral videos that didn’t have anything to do with him, like “Deez Nuts.”

As for the actual musical guests, Justin brought out The Kid LAROI for their hit duet “Stay,” and Tems for “I Think You’re Special.” Wizkid then joined Tems and Justin onstage for “Essence.” Justin closed the set with “Daisies,” featuring Mk.gee on guitar.

Perhaps Katy Perry summed the whole thing up best. As she stood in the crowd watching the show, she said in an Instagram Story video, “Thank God he has Premium. I don’t wanna see no ads.”

Billy Corgan made his Coachella debut Saturday, joining alt-pop artist sombr onstage for a rendition of the classic Smashing Pumpkins song “1979.”

In introducing Corgan, sombr asked the crowd, “Coachella, is it cool if I bring some f****** rock royalty on the stage right now?”

“Coachella, I want you to make the most noise for this person,” sombr continued. “It’s their first time ever appearing at Coachella.”

Corgan then took the stage to the opening riff of “1979” while giving double metal horns. While his mic was having issues at the beginning of the song, the problem was eventually fixed and he sung along with sombr while strumming his guitar.

Corgan will be headlining a festival when The Smashing Pumpkins play Lollapalooza 2026, taking place July 30 to Aug. 2 in his hometown of Chicago.

(NEW YORK) — Police shot and killed a knife-wielding man on a subway platform at Grand Central Station in New York City on Saturday after he stabbed at least two people, according to the NYPD.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 9:30 this morning.

Police said the man had been acting erratically on the train and slashed at least two people on the 4/5/6 platform. The slashing wounds are severe but the victims are stable in the hospital.

The suspect refused repeated commands to drop what police described as a machete before an officer opened fire, killing him, according to the NYPD.

There is no connection to terrorism, police said.

The identity of the knife-wielding suspect was not immediately released.

The NYPD will hold a news conference at the scene.

Coachella’s first night featured guest stars to spare.

Teddy Swims brought out not one, not two, but three guest stars: Joe Jonas, for “When You Look Me in the Eyes;” Vanessa Carlton, for “A Thousand Miles;” and, most surprisingly, David Lee Roth, original lead singer of Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Van Halen, for a rendition of that band’s 1984 #1 hit, “Jump.”

After Teddy sang his new single “Mr. Know It All,” the sound of a doorbell chimed, and Teddy told the crowd, “I’ll get it. I wonder who it could be this time.” Swims then opened the door to Roth, shouting, “Oh my God! It’s David Lee Roth from the best f****** band of all time, Van Halen.”

Also on Friday night, HUNTR/X made a surprise appearance, joining another Grammy-nominated girl group, KATSEYE, for their Coachella set. EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna popped up to sing “Golden,” giving the song an eight-person rendition.

Sabrina Carpenter headlined Friday, fulfilling the prediction she made when she previously performed at Coachella in 2024. She took the stage with an elaborate, glamorous production dubbed “Sabrinawood.”

“I can’t believe I’m headlining Coachella!” Sabrina said, before adding, “I mean, I can a little bit, but it’s nicer to say that, right?”

There were no musical guests during Sabrina’s set, but there were two filmed pieces featuring legendary actors. In one, Sam Elliott played a sheriff who pulls Sabrina over, while the other featured Susan Sarandon playing a grown-up version of Sabrina. Plus, Will Ferrell made a real life cameo as an electrician, and Samuel L. Jackson contributed a voiceover to “Juno.” For the set closer, “Tears,” Sabrina sang while being lifted up on a “geyser” of water.

Turnstile performed at Coachella on Friday, marking their first live show since the band’s former guitarist, Brady Ebert, was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly hitting frontman Brendan Yates’ father with a car.

The set opened with a video montage that included a message from Yates’ father, William Yates, which was seemingly filmed before the incident with Ebert.

“I’m Bill Yates, I’m the proud father of Brendan,” the elder Yates said in the video.

“They’re all sons of mine,” he added, presumably referring to the other members of Turnstile. “To all of the fans out there, we love you and Turnstile loves you. Enjoy the ride.”

In their statement following Ebert’s arrest, Turnstile said that William Yates survived the incident and successfully underwent surgery.

“We’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery,” Turnstile said.

Ebert was a founding member of Turnstile, and parted ways with the band in 2022.
