Santana singer Alex Ligertwood dead at 79

Alex Ligertwood, best known as one of the vocalists for Santana, has died. He was 79. His wife, Shawn Brogan, announced the news on her Facebook page, noting he “passed away peacefully in his sleep.”

“It’s with great sadness and heartache to announce the passing of my sweet dear Alex Ligertwood, my husband of 25 years, we knew each other for 36 years,” Brogan wrote. “He touched so many with his extraordinary voice. He was all heart and soul. His favorite thing in life was to make music, sing and to share his gift with us.”

She added, “He performed his last show just two weeks ago. I’m grateful for that. He did it his way, on his terms, till the end. I will always love you, my sweet Alex. Rest in peace. Soar and sing with the angels, my love.”

Ligertwood’s tenure with Carlos Santana’s group started in 1979. He had five different stints with Santana until 1994 and appears on such classic Santana tunes as “Winning,” “Hold On” and “You Know That I Love You.” He performed with the group at such high-profile shows as 1982’s US Festival and 1985’s Live Aid.

In addition to Santana, Ligertwood performed with the Jeff Beck Group, British jazz-fusion ensemble Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express Band and more.

Jack White headlining 2026 Iron Blossom festival

Eagles add new fall dates to Las Vegas Sphere residency

Eagles are returning to Las Vegas this fall.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band has announced six new shows of their Sphere residency: Sept. 18 and 19, and Nov. 13, 14, 27 and 28.

Registration for a presale that begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT is now open. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting Friday at 10 a.m. PT.

The new dates will extend the Eagles’ record for the longest-running residency at the Sphere with 64 shows. They launched the residency on Sept. 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, Eagles headlined New Orleans Jazz Fest on Saturday but apparently had to cut their set short due to a health issue in the band.

NOLA.com reports that Eagles left the stage with 25 minutes remaining in their set, leaving out their classic ballad “Desperado.” According to the site, they ended their set after “the band’s piano player went limp and was carried offstage.”

“Without him, they had to skip the piano-heavy ‘Desperado,'” the site explained.

It’s not that the audience hadn’t already been treated to a hit-filled show. According to setlist.fm, the band’s set featured performances of such classics as “Hotel California,” “Heartache Tonight,” “Already Gone,” “Take it to the Limit,” “Life’s Been Good,” “Take It Easy,” “One of These Nights,” “Lyin’ Eyes” and more.

Trump family’s crypto firm sues investor Justin Sun, escalating feud

(NEW YORK) — The Trump family’s flagship cryptocurrency venture filed a defamation suit on Monday against Chinese crypto mogul Justin Sun, escalating an ongoing legal and social media feud with one of the company’s most notable investors.

Sun sued the Trump-backed firm World Liberty Financial last month, accusing its officers of improperly freezing his investment in the firm’s digital tokens.

World Liberty Financial denied those claims publicly and on Monday accused Sun, in a lawsuit filed in Florida state court, of embarking on a “scorched-earth pressure campaign against World Liberty.”

“Sun weaponized his money and his influence within the industry, hiring influencers and deploying fake social-media ‘bot’ accounts to amplify his lies,” the suit asserts. “His actions were coordinated, deliberate, and aimed at burning World Liberty to the ground.”

World Liberty Financial says in its suit that it froze Sun’s assets “to protect” its community when it learned of alleged “misconduct” perpetrated by Sun, “including suspected short selling of $WLFI token … and straw purchases of $WLFI tokens on behalf of undisclosed third parties,” referring to World Liberty Financial’s flagship digital asset.

Sun called the lawsuit “nothing more than a meritless PR stunt” on social media and said he’ll “look forward to defeating the case in court.”

Donald Trump Jr., a World Liberty Financial co-founder, on Monday re-posted a thread from the World Liberty Financial account on X laying out its claims in the lawsuit and urging his followers to “Read this entire thread for the truth!!!!”

The dueling lawsuits mark the collapse of what was once a lively and mutually fruitful relationship, after Sun pumped more than $45 million into World Liberty Financial and many more millions into President Trump’s meme coin, called $TRUMP.

Earlier this year, Sun agreed to pay $10 million to resolve a civil fraud case brought by the Biden-era Securities and Exchange Commission — a resolution critics framed as a favorable outcome for the Chinese mogul.

Supreme Court restores access to mail-order abortion pill mifepristone, for now

(WASHINGTON) — The Supreme Court on Monday issued an administrative stay of a lower court order that had rolled back access to mifepristone nationwide.

The move preserves access to the abortion pill without the need for an in-person doctor’s visit.

Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden announce birth of 3rd child

Actress Cameron Diaz and musician Benji Madden have welcomed a third child.

Madden shared the couple’s happy news in an Instagram post Monday, writing, “Cameron and I are Happy, Excited, and feeling so BLESSED to announce the birth of our third Child.”

The Good Charlotte frontman shared the baby is a son they have named Nautas Madden. According to his post, the name Nautas means sailor, navigator and “one who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown.”

“We love life with our family- our kids are healthy&happy, and we are grateful!!!” Madden also wrote in his post, to which Diaz responded with a series of red heart emojis.

The couple, who are known to not share photos of their children publicly, did not share further details of Nautas’ birth.

Diaz, 53, and Madden, 47, got married in 2015 and became parents for the first time in December 2019 after welcoming a daughter named Raddix.

The couple announced in March 2024 that they had welcomed a second child, a son named Cardinal Madden.

Shortly after Cardinal’s birth, Diaz spoke about her decision to take a nearly 10-year break from her acting career to focus on her family.

“It felt like the right thing for me to reclaim my own life, and I just really didn’t care about anything else,” Diaz said in an October 2024 interview. “Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have. I think it really comes to what are you passionate about, for me it was to build my family.”

Jake Paul responds to Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘SNL’ monologue joke about him

Jake Paul doesn’t mind that his former co-star Olivia Rodrigo made fun of him in her Saturday Night Live monologue.

In the monologue, Olivia recalled working with Jake on Disney show called Bizaardvark when she was 13.

“We’d always talk about our futures, me and Jake,” she told the crowd. “I’d say, ‘I really wanna create music that explores the complexities of girls my age,’ and he’d say, ‘Well, one day I really wanna beat up old guys on Netflix.’ And we both did it, hooray!”

Jake, an influencer-turned-boxer, won an exhibition match against Mike Tyson in 2024 that streamed on Netflix.

He didn’t take Liv’s jab to heart. On X, Jake, who played the character Dirk Mann on Bizaardvark, reposted a story about the joke and wrote, “We had the vision. i told you that you would sell stadiums out and then we both did. proud of you fr.”

When a user responded, “I think he didn’t get that she laughed at him and not with him,” Jake said he was well aware of that.

“I got that she was making a joke at my expense. So what,” he replied. “She’s on SNL and that’s what they are supposed to do. Doesn’t change my admiration of her and her success.”

On This Day, May 4, 1982 …

Queen released their 10th studio album, Hot Space, which found them embracing sounds from disco, funk, pop, new wave and more.

The album featured the Queen/David Bowie collaboration, “Under Pressure,” recorded before the band started work on the album and released as a single in 1981.

The second single, “Body Language,” written by frontman Freddie Mercury, wasn’t a hit in the U.K., but it peaked at #11 on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100. The video for the single was one of the first to be banned on MTV due to its erotic undertones and the inclusion of nudity, even though the members of the band remained fully clothed.

Hot Space, which was poorly received by critics, peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and made it #4 in the U.K.

Yungblud postpones shows on US tour

Yungblud has postponed a pair of shows on his ongoing U.S. tour.

The affected dates were originally scheduled for Monday in Columbus, Ohio, and Thursday in Indianapolis.

“I hate having to say this, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we are having to reschedule the shows,” Yungblud writes in an Instagram Story. “Please look after yourselves. We’ll be back and ready to give you the show you deserve later this summer.”

The new dates will take place July 28 in Indianapolis and Aug. 2 in Columbus.

Yungblud will still play his scheduled show in Cincinnati on Wednesday in between the original Columbus and Indianapolis dates. His tour will then continue Saturday in Minneapolis.

Yungblud is touring in support of his two-part Idols album.

Deadly hantavirus outbreak suspected aboard a cruise ship

(NEW YORK) — A rare rodent-borne disease is suspected to have caused an outbreak aboard a cruise ship, leading to three deaths and several illnesses.

The deaths occurred between April 11 and May 2 with a variant of hantavirus identified in at least one patient.

The World Health Organization ⁠said on Monday that investigations are ongoing, including further laboratory testing
