Hypothetical Verzuz battles have been a topic of discussion since the competition first launched, and now CeeLo Green has revealed who he’d like to face if he ever stepped into the ring.
“I would probably have to go up against Lauryn, Lauryn Hill, but she’s like my sister,” he said while appearing on Rickey Smiley’s On the Spot podcast.
“But it would just be nothing but a love affair because we did our first tours together,” he said. “We’ve been friends for years, and she’s a Gemini twin just like me. So that’s my twin sister. But she does rap and sing at the same time, you know what I mean? Like, I think I would have to be paired up with somebody who has somewhat of the same dynamic.”
CeeLo also commented on the Tank and Tyrese Verzuz battle that took place in March, which Smiley said brought “so much joy” to viewers through both the music and friendly roasting between performances.
“And you know what it is? Because we only feel like we know them as far as the song can, you know, expose or allow us to see them,” CeeLo chimed in. “But to see them in real life—their charm, charisma, comedic timing, personalities, you know, it’s just so much more humanizing. That’s why it was so pleasant to see. Shouts out to Tank, shouts out to Tyrese. Both good friends of mine. Both talented leading men. Love them or love what they do.”

Always focused on making money moves, Cardi B recently found herself surprised by a new discovery. She took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday to document her first-ever visit to Five Below.
“My daughter was so feened out to come to Five Below. I never been here before, but now I see why,” said Cardi, explaining she initially thought the retailer was similar to the 99-cent stores from her childhood.
She appeared to be surprised by the variety of products at Five Below, which she referred to as a “kids store,” holding up a Fruity Pebbles candy bar and later two graphic T-shirts.
“I never been to this b**** before. This ain’t nothing like the 99-cent store that I was used to,” she said, before settling on a Patrick Star T-shirt.
“I’m loving this,” Cardi said. “I been rich for too long, motherf******, because I ain’t know nothing about no Five Below.”

(ORANGE COUNTY, Calif.) — Federal authorities are executing a search warrant at a Southern California facility where fears of a catastrophic explosion over a failing chemical tank led to tens of thousands of people being ordered to evacuate last month, according to federal officials.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said the FBI and Environmental Protection Agency are on site Wednesday executing a federal search warrant signed by a judge as part of a federal investigation into the tank incident at GKN Aerospace that prompted a state of emergency in Orange County.
“Obviously, we want to know exactly what happened and determine whether any federal laws were violated, and that’s the purpose of the search today,” Essayli told reporters at the scene of the facility in Garden Grove, about 30 miles south of Los Angeles.
Essayli said chemists and scientists from the EPA have been brought from across the country to collect evidence as part of the probe, including taking soil samples.
“We’re here to get to the bottom of exactly what happened,” he said, declining to discuss the case further due to the active investigation.
Federal authorities are expected to be at the site for most of Wednesday, Essayli said.
The situation began unfolding on May 21 at GKN Aerospace, a manufacturing company that builds engines and landing gear for both commercial and military aircraft. A chemical tank filled with toxic chemicals was showing signs of overheating, which could cause it to overheat or spill, officials said.
The 34,000-gallon tank contained methyl methacrylate, an industrial chemical used in plastic manufacturing, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. The chemical is primarily a respiratory irritant. Short-term exposure can cause skin and eye irritation, as well as breathing problems, according to the EPA.
During the height of the crisis, when officials thought they faced only two options — an explosion or chemical spill — about 50,000 people in the city of Garden Grove and several surrounding communities were under evacuation orders.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a state of emergency in Orange County in response to the incident.
Following a dayslong effort to cool the contents of the tank and stabilize it, officials determined there was no longer a threat of an explosion, fire or chemical leak and no risk to the public, and all remaining evacuation orders were lifted on May 26.
During a Garden Grove City Council meeting on Tuesday, GKN Aerospace Senior Vice President Steve Carlin apologized for the disruptive and “unsettling” incident.
“On behalf of GKN and the Garden Grove plant, I want to say I’m sorry that this event, this incident occurred,” he said.
He said the company is in the early stages of investigating and reviewing what happened on May 21, “so it’d be too early for us to draw any conclusions one way or the other.”
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer launched a criminal probe into the incident last month, ordering the company not to destroy or manipulate any records, his office said.
The probe seeks to determine how a major military and commercial aircraft gear manufacturer could have allowed such a toxic failure to occur, according to the district attorney.
GKN previously declined to comment specifically on the district attorney’s investigation.

Jay-Z is bringing back his 40/40 Club for Fanatics Fest NYC, which takes place July 16-19 at the Javits Center.
The reimagined venue will blend sports, luxury and entertainment, according to a press release. It will feature signature details from the original club, including framed jerseys from its archives, grand chandeliers and stadium-style seating. As with the original, celebrities will be in attendance. Jay is set to make an appearance, along with guests personally invited by him and Michael Rubin and a select group of customers from Fanatics Sportsbook & Casino.
While it remains unclear what A-listers will attend this year, last year’s event featured Kevin Hart, Travis Scott, DJ Khaled, Druski, Tiffany Haddish, Spike Lee and Quavo, among others.
With Carly Pearce’s fifth studio album on the horizon, there comes an unexpected change: The “I Hope You’re Happy Now” hitmaker is changing record labels. She’s leaving Blue Highway Records for BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.
“Signing with BMG feels less like turning a new page and more like finding the best next chapter,” Carly says. “I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by a team that truly hears my voice and matches my ambition. The horizon looks exactly how it’s supposed to.”
Carly’s new home at BBR/BMG makes her labelmates with Lainey Wilson, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton and Jelly Roll, among others. She’s been with Blue Highway, formerly known as Big Machine, since the start of her career in 2017. Her current single is “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” with Riley Green.
The news comes on the heels of a busy week of CMA Fest, where Carly was a CMA Artist of the Day at Fan Fair X, hosted her fifth annual Carly’s Closet benefit for the CMA Foundation and played the main stage at Nissan Stadium.
If that wasn’t enough, she also performed at Billboard Live at Category 10 and Spotify House at Ole Red, as well as mentoring teens at Grammy Camp in Nashville.

When Taylor Swift revealed that she’d written a song for Toy Story 5, she noted that she’d been “a Toy Story kid from the age of 5 til now.” And she proved it by showing up to the movie’s premiere on Tuesday night with her original VHS tape of Toy Story under her arm.
But she wasn’t just carrying it around to prove her fandom; she asked Toy Story star Tom Hanks to autograph it for her. He did, as he told USA Today, and then laughed, “I told her she should have brought in the VHS machine so that we could have signed it, ’cause that could go into the Smithsonian Institute as well.”
Separately, Tom told Variety that he had no idea Taylor had a song in the movie until the last moment, when, he said, “They ushered us into a soundproof room and said, ‘Tonight, at 9 p.m., the true end titles song is going to drop and it’s by Taylor Swift.'”
“And I said, ‘You guys kept this from us all this time?’ We saw the movie and it did not — we had some dummy [song] in there, so they surprised us as well.”
He added, “That’s like saying, ‘By the way, Judy Garland is singing “Over the Rainbow” at the beginning of this’ — that kind of thing.”
And while speaking to E! at the premiere, Tom offered the following marriage advice to Taylor and her fiancé, Travis Kelce: “The man must make the waffles on Sunday.”
Toy Story 5 arrives June 19.
