Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram will perform together at the Aug. 28 benefit to help victims of the flooding in the Texas Hill Country.

The trio, who came together to make 2021’s The Marfa Tapes, is just one of the acts who’ll play Robert Earl Keen‘s Applause for the Cause fundraiser at Whitewater Amphitheater outside New Braunfels, Texas.

Jamey Johnson, Radney Foster, Randy Rogers, Aaron Watson and Tyler Childers are some of the other artists who’ll take the stage to raise money for the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

“This is a star-studded lineup with music starting in the mid-afternoon and lasting far into the night,” Keen says. The Americana icon is from Kerrville, Texas, one of the hardest-hit areas.

Tickets go on sale Friday, with opportunities to send first responders even if you can’t attend yourself.

Miranda is also taking part in Wednesday night’s streaming benefit organized by Pat Green.

David Byrne has shared another track from his upcoming solo album, Who is the Sky?, which is his first album since 2018’s American Utopia.

The latest is “She Explains Things to Me,” described as partially inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s 2014 collection of essays, Men Explain Things to Me.

“Many times I have marveled at how a friend (usually a female friend) seems to clock what is going on in a film between characters way before I do,” says Byrne. “Sometimes I understand poetry, but sometimes I need help. Though inspired by the Solnit book Men Explain Things to Me, there is a huge difference – mansplaining is usually unasked for, in this case I am the one asking.”

“She Explains Things to Me” is available now via digital outlets.

Who is the Sky? will be released Sept. 5 and is available for preorder now. The album features special guests St. Vincent, Paramore’s Hayley Williams and The Smile drummer Tom Skinner.

Byrne will kick off a new North American tour in support of the album on Sept. 14 in Providence, Rhode Island. He’ll wrap up the tour in Miami Dec. 5 and 6. He recently added some new shows to the trek, including a third show in Philadelphia, a fourth in Chicago and a third in San Francisco. A complete list of dates can be found at DavidByrne.com.

Pound the Alarm! Nicki Minaj exchanged a few words with SZA on Tuesday after unleashing an attack on the president of SZA’s label.

In a post on social platform X, she had accused TDE’s Terrence “Punch” Henderson of “bullying me on Twitter for no reason.” She wrote, “We have the receipts. lol. I never even responded to him. What was his name again, yall? Im going to give him a nickname. Ima call him ‘Minus 30 million’ from now on.”

She later switched her focus to SZA after she saw one of SZA’s posts and evidently believed it was in response to her rant about Punch.

“Mercury retrograde .. don’t take the bait lol silly goose,” SZA’s post read. Nicki directly responded“Go draw your freckles back on bookie…Liar liar pants on fire. Sounding like a fkng dead dog.”

SZA replied, “I don’t give a f*** bout none of that weird s*** you popping” and clarified she “wasn’t even talking about or to anyone.”

Nicki then followed up with posts attacking SZA’s appearance, humor and voice, among other things.

“B**** looking & sounding like she got stung by a f****** bee. dot dot dot *Draws on my fake freckles,” she wrote. Still, SZA remained unbothered by Nicki and warnings from her fanbase.

“I get bullied by millions online every day then step my a** out onna packed stadium tour where ppl show me REAL love . IN REAL LIFE . My parents are healthy and I’m the most successful I ever been . GET SOME F****** PERSPECTIVE n BARK AT THE WALL !!!” SZA wrote.

She later concluded her night, posting, “Lmao lemme go back to being calm shy and meek…See you tomorrow for night 2 Paris !!”

Nicki had the final word. She wrote, “Shutup ugly…I’m in a meeting so idk if u was still talking s*** or not so if you didn’t I’ll delete later.”

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming documentary about the late singer Jeff Buckley.

It’s Never Over: Jeff Buckley, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg, follows the late singer’s life and career, which was highlighted by his critically acclaimed debut album, Grace, which came out in 1994.

The movie features never-before-seen footage and exclusive voice messages, as well as interviews with his mother, Mary Guibert, former bandmates and partners. It also includes interviews with musicians like Ben Harper and Amy Mann, the latter of whom describes Buckley as “literally the best singer I ever heard.”

In the trailer, you hear Buckley talking about his estranged father, singer/songwriter Tim Buckley, noting the only thing he inherited from him was “people who remember my father.” He also talks about his own influences, sharing they’re “love, anger, depression and Zeppelin.”

Buckley died by drowning in 1997 after being swept away while swimming in Wolf River Harbor, a channel of the Mississippi River. He was 30.

It’s Never Over: Jeff Buckley, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, hits theaters on Aug. 8.

The directors of Billy Joel: And So It Goes recently opened up about the making of the new HBO documentary and provided an update on the legendary singer’s health.

Joel, who has been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a brain disorder that affects his vision, hearing and balance, is currently undergoing physical therapy to regain his health and return to performing.

“He’s doing physical therapy, he’s healing, he’s working on getting better,” said Susan Lacy, one of the doc’s two directors, during an interview with Good Morning America that aired on Wednesday.

This update follows the cancellation of several of Joel’s shows due to his diagnosis, leaving fans concerned about his health and future performances.

The documentary offers a rare and intimate look into Joel’s life, exploring both the highs and lows of his personal and professional journey.

From childhood struggles to the iconic songs that have defined his career, the film delves deep into not only Joel’s musical genius but also the challenges he faced behind the scenes.

Billy Joel: And So It Goes is not only a celebration of his music but also a reflection on his tumultuous childhood, including the absence of his father and the joy he found in music, despite early challenges.

“His mother knew that Billy had a gift, and she made sure he had those piano lessons,” Jessica Levin, the documentary’s other co-director, told GMA.

Levin also reflected on the personal approach she and Lacy took to tell Joel’s story.

“Billy trusted two women to tell his story and we’re quite proud of that,” she said. “And I think we were able to really reveal a side of him that another set of filmmakers may or may not have been able to.”

Billy Joel: And So It Goes will premiere in two parts on HBO on July 18 and July 25.

Sam Fender was unable to perform at Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival on Tuesday as scheduled, but attendees still heard a bit of his music thanks to Benson Boone.

The “Beautiful Things” singer covered Fender’s song “Seventeen Going Under” during his set, which became the night’s headlining show after Fender pulled out due a hemorrhaged vocal cord.

In introducing the song, Boone told the crowd that he felt “terrified” upon learning that Fender would not be performing and that he would be taking over his headlining spot.

“I was honestly expecting a bunch of angry people, like, ‘We want Sam! We want Sam!'” Boone said. “And you guys have been lovely. So I really hope that the people that came to see Sam today can get just 5% out of this song, ’cause it’s a beautiful song.”

Upon finishing the performance, Boone declared, “I hope you’re doing well, Mr. Sam Fender, we all love you out here.”

You can watch an archived stream of Boone’s set via the Montreux Jazz Festival YouTube channel.

Fender is scheduled to return to the road in August. He’ll launch a U.S. tour in September in support of his new album, People Watching.

Garth Brooks has never been the most active person on social media, but he’s made it a point to post about wife Trisha Yearwood‘s new album, the first one she’s co-written and co-produced.

“I’ve never been more excited for you, @trishayearwood you’ve outdone yourself!” he says in his Wednesday post. “The Mirror is my FAVORITE album you have EVER made…the world is lucky to hear your voice, your stories and your soul in this way. This album, like you, is a gift to all of us! love, me.”

Behind the scenes, Trisha’s been busy autographing copies of the record before its Friday release.

“I sat and watched her sign albums one night at the house,” Garth’s post continues. “I jokingly asked her if she would sign one for me, she laughed and said if I wanted an album signed I could click the link and buy one myself!”

“Don’t mind if I do!” he adds, alongside a pic that shows him holding the vinyl.

The Mirror is Trisha’s first new record since 2019’s Every Girl.

Clipse paid homage to their late parents while on The Tonight Show Tuesday night. The brothers ditched their coke bars to perform “Birds Don’t Sing,” with Pusha T opening up about how he’s been dealing with the loss of their mother, Mildred Thornton.

“Lost in emotion, mama’s youngest/ Tryna navigate life without my compass,” he rapped, as photos of Mildred appeared on the screens behind them. “Some experience death and feel numbness/ But not me, I felt it all and couldn’t function.”

Malice‘s verse paid homage to their dad, Gene Elliott Thornton.

“Your car was in the driveway, I knew you were home/ By the third knock, a chill ran through my bones/ The way you missed Mama, I guess I should’ve known,” Malice rapped. Similarly, photos of Gene, who died months after Mildred in 2021, filled the screen.

In place of John Legend was a female vocalist, who sang, “The birds don’t sing, they screech in pain.”

“Birds Don’t Sing” appears on Clipse’s first album in 16 years, Let God Sort Em Out. Speaking to Complex, Malice recalled hearing Push’s verse for the first time.

He sent it to me. And I wasn’t ready for it. I mean, I literally, I couldn’t take it,” he says.

When it came to recording his verse, he shares, “Y‘all have no idea how many times I had to stop in that studio.”

Malice adds that he thinks “people are gonna be able to relate to it. Life is real. Life is real for everybody. And I think it’s gonna touch a lot of souls.”

The Godfather of Punk meets the Man of Steel in the new Superman movie.

The closing credits to the James Gunn-directed film are soundtracked by the song “Punkrocker,” a 2006 collaboration between Iggy Pop and the Swedish band Teddybears.

In reacting to Superman‘s use of “Punkrocker,” Pop tells The Hollywood Reporter, “I always thought the track had soul.”

“Superman is the best friend you could have,” the “Lust for Life” rocker adds.

Superman, starring David Corenswet as the titular hero and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, is in theaters now. In addition to featuring “Punkrocker” on the soundtrack, the movie includes a scene discussing the true meaning of punk rock.
