Justin Bieber skipped Canada’s Juno Awards Sunday to play an intimate, fans-only show at LA’s The Roxy Theatre. On Tuesday, the “Daisies” singer posted footage of the show on his Instagram.

One post sees a shirtless Justin, wearing a wool hat, singing “Better Man” from his album SWAG II while smoking what looks like a blunt. A second post is a montage of scenes from the concert, featuring snippets of Justin singing songs from both SWAG and SWAG II, including “Daisies,” “Walking Away,” “Go Baby,” “Yukon,” “Everything Hallelujah” and “Speed Demon.”

“This is a little sneak preview into Coachella, which is gonna be so much fun,” Justin tells the crowd. He captioned the montage, “see you all soon.”

According to Setlist.fm, Justin only performed songs from SWAG and SWAG II, but it’s not clear if he plans to do the same at Coachella.

The exclusive concert was Justin’s first full show in nearly four years; he had to cancel his Justice tour in 2022 due to health issues. Since then, he’s only done a handful of one-off performances at special events.

Justin’s set to headline Coachella on April 11 and April 18.

Metallica announces $125K donation to Hawaii flood relief

Metallica has announced a donation of $125,000 through the band’s All Within My Hands charity foundation toward flood relief efforts in Hawaii.

“Hawaii is facing the worst flooding it’s seen in more than two decades, leaving the islands suffering an estimated US$1B in damage statewide,” reads a statement from All Within My Hands. “The subtropical weather systems—called kona lows near Hawaii—siphoned moisture from the tropics, fueling slow-moving thunderstorms with torrential, destructive rains. The soil became saturated, and the rivers surged to record levels as the rains continued.”

“So far, hundreds of homes in O’ahu have sustained damage, in addition to millions of dollars in damage to farms across the island,” the statement continues. “As many as 115,000 O’ahu residents faced power outages in the storm’s aftermath. While the heaviest rains have passed, flash floods remain possible in the coming days.”

Among the people affected by the floods is actor and Hawaii native Jason Momoa, who’s been assisting with local organizations.

“AWMH is proud to join Jason and the many organizations and individuals working to provide critical relief and recovery assistance to the islands,” the foundation says.

Dan + Shay’s new single, “Say So,” will finally arrive Thursday at 11 p.m. CT.

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney acknowledged they’ve been away for a while in a handwritten letter posted on their socials.

The duo reiterated what they told ABC Audio at the CMA Awards in November: Their absence isn’t the sign of a breakup, but instead their friendship is stronger than ever after spending most of the year in the studio together.

“That has been so life-giving,” they say in the note. They go on to reveal they haven’t spent this much time working on new music since their debut album in 2013, Where It All Began.

“We’ve had what we feel is the most inspired burst of creativity in our entire career, and we wanted to capture every bit of it,” they go on to say.

They also tease their return to touring, adding they’ve “missed seeing everyone on the road” and “That changes soon. Stay tuned.”

Though they put out “Long Live Christmas” in November and their It’s Officially Christmas double album in 2024, their last studio album was Bigger Houses, which came out in September 2023.

A new trailer for the upcoming movie Masters of the Universe is out now and gives a closer look at Jared Leto as Skeletor.

The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman plays the main villain in the live-action adaptation of the famed Mattel franchise. While Skeletor was silent in the previously released teaser, we hear him speak a few lines in the trailer, including warning He-Man, “You may have the power, but you’re too scared to use it.”

“Trust me, I know how to use it,” He-Man, played by Nicholas Galitzine, replies.

Hopefully at one point in the film Leto’s Skeletor will declare, “Until we meet again!”

We’ll find out when Masters of the Universe premieres in theaters on June 5.

Carole King’s music has been covered by a whole host of artists over the years, and a new playlist is highlighting some soulful versions of her classic tunes.

The Soul of Carole King, now available on Spotify, features songs King either wrote or co-wrote, covered by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, The Stylistics, Al Green and more.

A post on Instagram notes that the playlist was “Curated to showcase deep-groove covers and emotional performances from the architects of Soul and R&B.” It notes, “The collection honors the songwriting genius of King with gospel-influenced vocals, horn-driven arrangements, inspired instrumentals and intimate interpretations.”

Songs featured in the playlist include Franklin’s iconic version of “(You Make Me Feel) Like a Natural Woman”; covers of “You’ve Got a Friend” from Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Al Green and more; Flack’s cover of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”; Gaye’s take on “Some Kind of Wonderful”; and The Drifters’ recording of “Up on the Roof.”

RAYE is taking her current tour to the Montreux Jazz Festival and morphing it into a special performance.

On July 3, RAYE will serve as the opening act for the 60th edition of the legendary Switzerland festival. This is the third year in a row that she’ll be performing at Montreux, but this year she’s going to have special guests join her for a performance called This Stage May Contain Moments In Time.

According to the festival, RAYE’s performance will “span six decades of music and mix [her] hits, new collaborations, and revisited classics.”

RAYE was hugely influenced by the iconic performances at the Montreux festival by jazz/blues icons Nina Simone and Etta James, and two years ago she captured her first appearance at the festival on the album Live at Montreux Jazz Festival.

As for the rest of the festival, which runs from July 3 to July 18, performers include Lewis Capaldi, Sienna Spiro, Zara Larsson, PinkPantheress, Tyla, John Legend, Conan Gray and many other stars. Zara and PinkPantheress are performing on different days, so it may be difficult for them to join forces for an onstage collaboration on “Stateside.”

After a planned collaboration with Netflix fell through, Gorillaz is ruling out the possibility for a future movie.

“If we’d done a movie 25 years ago, fine but the idea of doing a movie now … no interest in it whatsoever,” artist Jamie Hewlett, who created the animated band alongside frontman Damon Albarn, tells The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music. “It’s not an interesting idea, it’s not an original idea.”

“We had this moment with Netflix where we were literally told you can do whatever you want and we’re going to give you as much money, and we’re like, ‘OK, great,'” Hewlett continues. “We had some brilliant ideas but it was just moving so slow and the guy we were working with just left, and they said, ‘Don’t worry we’ll find someone else.’ And it’s like, OK, there’s going to be another year of conversations before this starts again. So we pulled out.”

Albarn says that the experience felt like “hanging around for what seemed an eternity.”

While a movie didn’t materialize, Hewlett said Gorillaz spent that time creating a new album, 2023’s Cracker Island.

Gorillaz has since put out another record, The Mountain, which dropped in February. And while we may never get a full-length Gorillaz movie, they did put out a short film to accompany three songs off The Mountain.

Iron Maiden has announced some additions to EddFest, their 50th anniversary celebration, happening July 10-11 at Knebworth Park in Knebworth, England.

The rockers revealed that Blaze Bayley, who replaced frontman Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden from 1994 to 1999 and appeared on their albums The X Factor and Virtual XI, will headline the Maidenville stage during the Friday, July 10, festivities.

They’ve also added Maiden bassist Steve Harris’ early band Gypsy’s Kiss to Friday’s bill. Harris formed Gypsy’s Kiss in 1974 with singer/guitarist David Smith. He went on to form Maiden in 1975.

“Having the opportunity to put together our very own festival at Knebworth, and celebrate 50 years of Iron Maiden, has given me a chance to bring together friends past and present and create a really special weekend for the fans,” says Harris. “I’m very pleased that Blaze is able to join us and perform some of the songs we wrote and recorded in the [’90s].” He added, “He has been a big part of Iron Maiden’s career, and I know the fans will be really excited to see him on stage at EddFest.”

Harris notes, “It’s also great to have Gypsy’s Kiss playing with us at Knebworth too. They were a big part of my musical heritage and it’s really exciting to have them play at the Maidenville stage.”

Iron Maiden will headline EddFest at Knebworth Park on July 11. Other artists performing include The Hu, The Darkness, Airbourne and The Almighty. More info can be found at IronMaiden.Knebworth.com.
