Iron Maiden sells stake in catalog to Swedish company Pophouse

Iron Maiden is the latest artist to sell a stake in their catalog.

The band has signed a partnership with Pophouse, the Swedish company behind ABBA’s London hologram show, Voyage, and the same company that purchased KISS’ catalog in 2024. The deal has Pophouse acquiring a stake in Maiden’s music catalog, including master recordings and publishing rights, as well as rights to their brand name, image and likeness.

Iron Maiden’s co-manager Andy Taylor and Pophouse have actually been working together since last year, with the partnership resulting in the creation of the Infinite Dreams Museum Experience, which debuted at the band’s recent EddFest concert at Knebworth Park, U.K.

Future plans include a film of the band’s current Run For Your Lives World Tour. They also aim to bring the band’s mascot Eddie into the digital universe.

“I am very excited about our relationship with Pophouse and the ability we now have to pursue, facilitate, and finance our many plans and dreams quicker than we ever hoped,” says Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood. “The fans can be assured there is a great deal more to come for Maiden, and Eddie will rule, OK!!”

“Iron Maiden is a band whose remarkable longevity and rich catalogue open up countless creative possibilities,” Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos adds. “With Pophouse’s partnership, the band now has the investment and creative firepower to keep evolving for decades to come.”

Ariana Grande changes ‘thank u, next’ lyrics about ex Ricky Alvarez

She’s so grateful for her ex, but could they be back together? Ariana Grande continues to tweak the lyrics of “thank u, next” during her live shows, fueling speculation she might be rekindling things with ex Ricky Alvarez.

During her Brooklyn stop on the Eternal Sunshine tour Monday night, she changed the lyrics from “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh” to “Wrote some songs about Ricky/ We always find our way back.”

She previously changed them during her June 24 show in Austin, singing, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now they kinda slap,” and again during her June 26 show where Ricky was in the audience, singing, “Wrote some songs about Ricky/ I know he still got my back.”

The two, who split back in 2016 after dating for about a year, have been spotted hanging out recently. They were reportedly in Ariana’s hometown of Boca Raton, Florida, for July Fourth weekend.

Ariana broke up with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater earlier this year after three years of dating.

The All-American Rejects announce 21st anniversary ’Move Along’ reissue

The All American Rejects’ 2005 album, Move Along, is officially old enough to drink, and the band is celebrating with a deluxe reissue.

The 21st anniversary edition of Move Along will be released Sept. 4. It includes three bonus B-sides: “Kiss Yourself Goodbye,” “Bite Back” and “Eyelash Wishes.”

Along with the reissue news, the Rejects have premiered a new live video for the song “Move Along,” which was recorded at The Wiltern in Los Angeles in 2005. You can watch that streaming now on YouTube.

The original Move Along marked the sophomore AAR album and spawned singles in the title track, “Dirty Little Secret” and “It Ends Tonight.” It’s certified triple-Platinum by the RIAA.

The All-American Rejects just released a new album called Sandbox in May, marking their first full-length effort in 14 years.

On This Day, July 14, 1982: The movie of Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ premiered in London

On This Day, July 14, 1982…

A movie based on Pink Floyd’s classic album The Wall opened at The Empire, Leicester Square in London, England. Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason all attended the premiere, as did fellow musicians The Who’s Pete Townshend, Queen’s Roger Taylor, The Police’s Sting and Andy Summers, and more.

Directed by Alan Parker, with a screenplay by Waters, the film starred The Boomtown Rats’ Bob Geldof as a depressed rocker dealing with the pressures of stardom and more. In order to protect himself, he constructs both a physical and emotional wall around himself.

The movie didn’t premiere in the U.S. until that August; it went on to earn $22 million at the box office worldwide.

From Deale, Maryland, to Nashville, Brothers Osborne were ‘Runnin’ Down a Dream’

As Brothers Osborne recently pointed out on social media, it’s been more than 1,000 days since they put out their most recent album, their eponymous effort from 2023.

“We’ve been working for a long time to get new music out. We almost put music out, but it didn’t feel right, so we went back in the studio,” TJ Osborne recently said backstage at CMA Fest.

He went on to echo the other aspect revealed in their Instagram post: It’s a return to their roots.

“It’s an album that’s really kinda dedicated to our hometown where we’re from, which is Deale, Maryland. It’s a small water town, and so a lot of the songs are really kinda based around that, telling the story not only of our town, but kinda letting people know what we’re about,” he added.

“I think, even though we’ve been doing this for as long as we have, some people are confused why we’re from Maryland and play country music. So hopefully this answers those questions.”

Billy Joel reveals why he almost left ‘Just the Way You Are’ off ‘The Stranger’

Billy Joel recently sat down for an interview with YouTube personality Rick Beato, where they discussed songwriting, touching on such Joel hits as “Piano Man,” “Allentown” and “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

Discussing his first big hit, “Just the Way You Are,” Joel revealed that he almost didn’t put the song on his album The Stranger because he thought it was “too mushy.” He credits Linda Ronstadt for changing his mind, explaining that he played the song for her and Phoebe Snow in the studio.

“I said, ‘I don’t like this song that much.’ Linda Ronstadt goes, ‘Are you out of your mind? That’s a hit record. You got to put that on the album. That’s a great song,'” he said. “She talked me into it. So, I have to thank Linda Ronstadt for that song.”

Beato notes that in Joel’s HBO documentary And So It Goes, Paul McCartney said “Just the Way You Are” was one of the only songs he wished he had written.

“That blew me away. He’s like the melodic king,” Joel said. “He can do no wrong with melody.”

Released in 1977, “Just the Way You Are” was Joel’s first top-10 hit in the U.S., peaking at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It went on to win two Grammys, record of the year and song of the year.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong teams up with Marshall for signature amp

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has teamed up with Marshall to create his own signature amp.

The Billie Joe Armstrong 1959BJA was previewed during Green Day’s performance ahead of Super Bowl 60 in February. It comes in a baby-blue finish inspired by the “American Idiot” rocker’s very first guitar, nicknamed Blue. It features a custom “Dookie Mod” inspired by the tone of Green Day’s breakout 1994 album.

According to a press release, “The result is a classic plexi with modern performance flexibility delivering increased gain, tighter lows and the saturated punch that brings Billie’s signature sound into a modern stage-ready format.”

“Billie Joe’s guitar sound is instantly [recognizable],” says Marshall Culture marketing director Steph Carter in a statement. “From the moment you hear those opening chords on Dookie, you know exactly who it is. Working with Billie to create an amp that captures that punch, aggression and clarity was an incredible project for our team.”

“I’m so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp,” Armstrong adds. “These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the f*** up!!”

The amp is set to be released July 21. Marshall will celebrate its arrival with a performance by Armstrong’s side project The Coverups at the Roxy club in Los Angeles on July 20.

Green Day, meanwhile, is preparing for the release of their new movie, NIMRODS, which hits theaters Aug. 14. Its accompanying soundtrack drops July 31.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea is featured in the latest installment of NPR’s Tiny Desk performance series.

Changing between his signature bass, trumpet and vocals, Flea performed three songs off his debut solo album, Honora: “Traffic Lights,” “Morning Cry” and “A Plea.” He was backed by a four-piece band that featured guitarist Jeff Parker, saxophonist and keyboardist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss and drummer Deantoni Parks.

“I’m just one part of this ensemble,” Flea says of the collective.

Honora was released in March, and features a guest spot from Radiohead frontman and Flea’s Atoms for Peace bandmate Thom Yorke. It also includes an instrumental cover of the Frank Ocean song “Thinkin Bout You.”

Guns N’ Roses launch sweepstakes to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Guns N’ Roses are giving fans a chance to win a VIP experience to one of their upcoming shows, while also raising money to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The “Welcome to the Jungle” rockers have just launched a new sweepstakes offering two premium tickets to their show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Sept. 5, along with roundtrip airfare and a three-night hotel stay for two.

The package also comes with VIP riser access in the pit, a behind-the-scenes tour of the production, an onstage group photo, limited-edition VIP merch and more.

The sweepstakes is being hosted by the platform Fandiem. Fans can enter by making a donation that will go to support the national fundraising campaign for AFSP. Those who donate $150 or more will receive a free Guns N’ Roses hoodie.

The Rolling Stones’ ‘Foreign Tongues’ on track for #1 in the UK

Looks like The Rolling Stones may nab another #1 in the U.K.

According to the U.K. Official Chart, the band’s latest album, Foreign Tongues, is currently the front-runner to top the U.K. Official Albums Chart.

If the album does indeed wind up on top, it will be The Stones’ 15th U.K. #1 album.

The Stones last topped the U.K. albums chart in 2023 with their Grammy-winning record Hackney Diamonds.
They earned their first #1 in 1964 with their self-titled debut.

Foreign Tongues, produced by Andrew Watt, is The Rolling Stones’ 25th studio album. It features guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, The Cure’s Robert Smith and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

It also features an appearance by the band’s late drummer, Charlie Watts, taken from one of his final recording sessions before his death in 2021.
