Meghan Trainor is about five years older than Sabrina Carpenter, but she says about 10 years ago Sabrina was the one who gave her her “big break.”

Speaking to Bustle, Meghan notes that when Sabrina was just a teenager she included a song Meghan wrote, “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying,” on her 2015 debut album, Eyes Wide Open.

“I didn’t get to meet her, but she was my superstar. Ever since then, I thought she was amazing, and I was so grateful that she [recorded] my song,” Meghan tells Bustle.

“I was just starting out. I was 17-18, and they said, ‘We’re gonna get this song to a Disney star.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, right.’ Then she did it, and it was my big break. Ever since, I’ve been so excited for her.”

Despite her own success, Meghan says she’s still writing songs for other artists, while also working on music for herself. “I’m having a lot of fun experimenting with sounds and trying to push myself. We got some bangers,” she tells Bustle. However, the Grammy winner’s new goal is acting.

“I’ve already achieved a lot of my dreams that I didn’t think were even possible, so I had to start over, make a whole new bucket list,” Meghan says, noting that she really wants to act in a movie — and not necessarily a musical.

“My dream is I’m in [a movie], and I wrote the song you hear at the end,” she says. “I don’t know if I could pull off a full musical. Everyone who meets me, like, my new friends, they’re like, ‘You need to be on Broadway.’ No, I cannot sing eight days in a row twice a day.”

Warren Haynes has shared a new track from his upcoming album, The Whisper Sessions, which features stripped down versions of songs from his 2024 solo album, Million Voices Whisper.

The latest is the song “From Here On Out,” which is available via digital services. A performance video is on YouTube.

“‘From Here On Out’ was composed during the COVID‑19 lockdown, capturing the shared emotional landscape of that period,” Haynes says. “The song is both nostalgic and thoughtful—looking back on life and good times and the carefree-ness of younger years while also grappling with larger themes of community, transformation, and hope during a pivotal historical moment.”

The Whisper Sessions will be released Sept. 12 and is available for preorder now.

Haynes is currently on tour with his band Gov’t Mule. Their next show is Aug. 27 in Milwaukee, with dates confirmed through Nov. 1 in Philadelphia. A complete list of shows can be found at WarrenHaynes.net.

Matt Maeson has shared a new song called “Halfway to Whole,” a track off his upcoming album, A Quiet and Harmless Living.

“‘Halfway to Whole’ is a song I wrote about a depressive state that I get to sometimes,” Maeson says. “The older I get, the more I realize sometimes it’s just unavoidable and what’s important is understanding that it’s temporary. The song is about all the things I think about in that state of mind. The hopelessness, the insecurities, the failures.”

“It’s a song that exemplifies how important it is for me to admit these thoughts when I have them and try to process them the best I can,” the “Cringe” artist continues. “This song did a lot for me in that way and as always, I hope it can do as much for the listener.”

A Quiet and Harmless Living, the follow-up to 2022’s Never Had to Leave, is due out Sept. 12. It also includes the previously released songs “Everlasting” and “Downstairs.”

Maeson will launch a U.S. tour in September.

Mirador, the new band featuring Greta Van Fleet guitarist Jake Kiszka, has released a new song called “Fortunes Fate.”

The track will appear on the upcoming self-titled debut Mirador album.

“‘Fortunes Fate’ is a song of yearning and escape, one that embodies the quest for freedom and self-discovery,” Mirador says. “The protagonist’s journey is a metaphor for the human experience, torn between the comfort of familiarity and the allure of the unknown. This song is an ode to the desperate romantic, who chases destiny despite the cost, leaving behind the one they love.”

“As an artist, you’re perpetually walking the line between ecstasy and disaster, radiance and ruin,” the band continues. “It’s a testament to the power of fate, guiding us toward our true purpose, and the enduring force of love, which awaits us in every lifetime.”

The album Mirador is due out Sept. 19. It also includes the previously released single “Feels Like Gold.”

Mirador will launch a U.S. tour Sept. 12 in Chicago.

The most recent Greta Van Fleet album is 2023’s Starcatcher.

Russell Dickerson is focused on both his career and his life at home with the arrival of his fourth studio album, Famous Back Home.

“This album means so much to me,” he says. “I poured my heart into every song, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. In many ways, it’s a thank-you letter to the people who believed in me from the very beginning. I hope it serves as a reminder that no matter how far you go, the truest kind of ‘famous’ is found in those who’ve known you all along.”

Russell was surprised with a plaque commemorating the Gold certification of his top-five hit from the album, “Happen to Me,” at Thursday night’s album release party in Nashville.

The record also contains his previous hit “Bones.”

Sombr? I Barely Know Her. That’s the title of the singer’s debut album, featuring the hits “undressed” and “back to friends.” He wrote on Instagram, “My debut album I Barely Know Her is out. I don’t eat, I don’t sleep, I don’t talk to many people. My life is devoted to this music and serving you forever. Nothing else.” He added of his Thursday pop-up show in Manhattan, “It was an honor to be able to shut down the street that I grew up on for a hometown album release show. … It could all end for me today and I would be more than satisfied with the ending.”

“A Lot More Free” singer Max McNown has put out a new duet and video with fellow singer-songwriter Avery Anna. It’s a reimagined version of his song “Turned Into Missing You” from his 2024 album, Wandering. He said in a statement, “Her vocal capability brought this song to a different level and I’m so honored that she was willing to jump aboard!” Meanwhile, “A Lot More Free” has officially been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

Ava Max has released her third album, Don’t Click Play, amid a complete shakeup of her management and musical collaborators. She told Rolling Stone, “Everyone is so confused about the title, it doesn’t mean ‘don’t click play.’ It means ‘Don’t click play if you don’t want to,’ because at the end of the day, this album was made to prove to myself that I could do it on my own.”

After a “personal hiatus,” Dominic Fike is back with a 12-track mixtape called Rocket. He teased the project with videos for the songs “All Hands on Deck” and “Aftermath/Smile.”

Cam’Ron announced in June that his Talk With Flee has a new home at Revolt and will be making its way to linear television. After filming the first few episodes on his own, he told Billboard an offer came in that allowed him to be himself.

“I wouldn’t have done it if they wasn’t gonna let me be me 100 percent,” he said. “That was part of the reason I actually didn’t mind working with them. … It was one thing to do the show on YouTube and I make a decent amount of money on YouTube. They came with the right deal. To be honest with you, it was more of a linear television move.”

Cam said he also considered “what kind of partners” he could get for the edgy content he creates and clarified that Diddy‘s past at the company did not factor into his decision.

With the new deal, Cam’Ron plans to continue the Talk With Flee season taking inspiration from Stephen A. Smith‘s podcast.

“He doesn’t talk to anybody. He doesn’t have anybody asking him questions. He presents the topic, and he gives his opinion,” Cam said of Stephen. “That’s kind of where I’m at with Talk With Flee. If I get guests, it’s a bonus.”

He told Billboard that he’ll be visiting “some of the rappers that’s locked up,” likening it to Forensic Files.

“I’m actually going into the jails to have convos with some rappers and iconic figures in our culture to get their perspectives on why they’re in jail or what happened,” Cam said. “Things the media run with where they might want to get their side of the story off.”

His latest episode of Talk With Me featuring Memphis Bleek is available to watch on Revolt’s YouTube.

Watch Doja Cat take a shower in an elevator in ‘Jealous Type’ video

Doja Cat‘s new era is officially here with the release of her new single, “Jealous Type,” and its video. The track is from Doja’s new album, Vie, which is out Sept. 26.

At the start of the video, it says “Doja Cat and Doja Cat” are starring in it, and in fact there are multiple Dojas: One watches a movie of several other Dojas, all wearing different outfits, hair-dos and hair colors. At one point, one Doja is writing on the hood of a car wearing skimpy lingerie while another Doja in head-to-toe leopard print dances outside and sings from inside the same car.

Toward the end of the clip, a Doja wearing a blond wig and red lingerie dances in an elevator, which suddenly turns into a shower, with water cascading from the ceiling.

The song is an upbeat pop jam, and Doja tells Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that her new music is “truly, for lack of a better word, fun. And I think that’s what people need right now is to remember that life can be fun and that it’s not always so serious all the time.”

She adds, “Right now, I just want to talk about … I don’t know, I feel sexy and I feel inspired, and I feel like I’ve learned a lot in therapy and I can convert that into something positive.”

Meanwhile, Doja has released the first dates of her Ma Vie World Tour — “ma vie” means “my life” in French. It’ll start Nov. 18 in Auckland, New Zealand, with dates scheduled through Dec. 21 in Taiwan. There’s no word yet on any North American dates.
