Miguel is celebrating his 40th birthday with a brand-new album.

The singer announced his fifth studio album, CAOS, will arrive on Oct. 23, the same day as his milestone birthday. Miguel has released the title track directly to his fans on social media and his own S1C.LA platform.

“To rebuild, I had to destroy myself. That is the core confrontation of CAOS,” Miguel says in a statement. “Through my personal evolution, I learned that transformation is violent. CAOS is the sonic iteration of me bending that violence into something universally felt.”

Miguel’s last album was 2017’s War & Leisure.

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe took some time during the holiday weekend to make sure everyone knows the correct lyrics to the band’s song “It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine).”

Stipe’s signature vocal style long made it hard to understand exactly what words he was singing. That issue is particularly exacerbated in “It’s the End of the World As We Know It,” which features Stipe singing so fast that you’d be forgiven if you could only discern the song’s title in the chorus and the part where he yells, “Leonard Bernstein.”

Nearly 40 years after “It’s the End of the World” dropped in 1987, Stipe has clarified two particular lines in the song’s first verse in posts to the social networking site Bluesky.

“It’s ‘Left of west and coming in a hurry with the Furies breathing down your neck,'” Stipe writes in one post. He then adds the correct version of the following line, “Team by team reporters, baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped, Look at that low playing, fine, then.”

The R.E.M. Instagram account has shared a screenshot of Stipe’s post in a Story alongside the caption, “Michael shares some lyrics on [Bluesky].”

“It’s the End of the World” appears on R.E.M.’s 1987 album, Document, which celebrated its 38th anniversary on Monday.

R.E.M. broke up in 2011, though the four members reunited for one-off performances in 2024 and 2025. Stipe performed a parody version of “It’s the End of the World” during a 2016 guest spot on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

A Green Day deep cut returned to the set for the first time in nearly 30 years during the band’s show Saturday in Santiago, Chile.

The concert featured a performance of the Nimrod song “Haushinka,” which Billie Joe Armstrong and company hadn’t played live since 1997.

“From Berkeley to Santiago… ‘Haushinka’ lives!!!” Green Day writes in an Instagram post. “First time playing this one since ’97. Thank YOU Chile.”

In accompanying footage of the performance, Armstrong tells the crowd they played “Haushinka” because “Santiago is special for us.”

Green Day’s current tour of South America concludes Sept. 15 in Paraguay. They’ll be back in the U.S. for a festival run starting Sept. 21 at Chicago’s Riot Fest.

Bailey Zimmerman and Luke Combs are #1 on the Mediabase chart with “Backup Plan” — even though Bailey can hardly believe it.

“I took this selfie the day I met @lukecombs at his Concert for Carolina benefit last October,” he shared on Instagram. “never in a million years did I think just 10 months later we would have the number 1 song on country radio together.”

Though Bailey’s previously topped the chart with songs like “Where It Ends,” “Fall in Love” and “Rock and a Hard Place,” it’s particularly special to share the milestone with one of his heroes.

“Luke it’s truly to a dream come true to be able to say I have a number one song with you man… Ive looked up to you and your music for so long!!!” his post continues. “Thank you for not only believing in this song but also for believing in me. Im honored to call you a friend… Love you bro this one is really really special.”

“Backup Plan” is from Bailey’s sophomore album, Different Night Same Rodeo, which arrived in August.

System of a Down just played two concerts at Chicago’s Soldier Field, and while in the Windy City, guitarist Daron Malakian also took the stage at a much, much smaller venue.

Malakian shares in an Instagram post that he was hanging around Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood when he heard the intro to the SOAD song “Needles” playing from a nearby bar called The Cubby Bear. He decided to check it out and found a System cover band called Peephole performing.

“I walked right to the front of the stage and surprised the band and the audience,” Malakian writes. “This was all so spontaneous. The look on everyone’s faces was priceless. To be honest, I was just as surprised as anyone else was that this was happening.”

Malakian then joined Peephole for a rendition of the song “Cigaro.”

“So many stars had to align for me to end up at the right place and right time,” Malakian says. “One of the coolest moments I’ve ever had!!! I’ll always remember this night, and I’m sure everyone that was there will never forget it either!!!!!!”

Malakian will go back to playing stadiums when System’s tour continues with shows Wednesday and Friday at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium.

Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton‘s “A Song to Sing” was a surprise when it debuted it July, even though the duet had been in the works for years.

The superstars wrote the tune in 2023 and recorded it last year at producer Dave Cobb‘s studio in Savannah, Georgia. So why release it now?

“I think I just felt like ‘A Song to Sing’ felt very summery,” Miranda says. “I’ve had a few singles off my record Postcards from Texas, and … I’m working on a bunch of new stuff right now, just in a creative mode.”

“But this song was a good segue and a good summer song to see what comes next for Chris and I both, I feel like,” she adds.

Miranda’s 10th album came out in 2024, while Chris’ fifth, Higher, dates back to 2023.

The two teamed up to shoot the ’70s-inspired, roller rink-themed music video for “A Song to Sing” at Brentwood Skate Center near Nashville. If you listen closely near the end, you can hear an announcer mentioning what might become the superstars’ moniker as a duo: “Lamberton,” a combination of their last names.
