Devo has been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame three times — in 2018, 2021 and 2022 — but has yet to be chosen for induction. But not being selected for the prestigious institution isn’t about to stop the band’s co-founder and lead vocalist Mark Mothersbaugh.

In a new interview with New York Magazine’s Vulture column, Mothersbaugh says he has an “alternative plan” should the band never get selected for the Rock Hall, which is located in Cleveland.

“I’m looking to buy a piece of the parking lot, like maybe one parking space adjacent to the museum,” he tells the mag. “In Ohio, they have very lax laws on where you can bury remains. I was thinking I would transfer all of Devo’s remains to that one parking spot. We’d just dig down underneath it and bury everybody.”

“So if we weren’t in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, we could be adjacent to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That would take some of the pressure off,” he adds. “And you could still park on top of us; we don’t mind. If you help us get the parking spot right next to the Rock Hall, I’ll make sure you get a free parking permit whenever you’re there.”

But until then, Devo has several shows on their calendar for 2025. Up next, they are set to open for My Chemical Romance in Chicago on Aug. 29. They will then play the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta on Sept. 21. Their next Cosmic De-Evolution headlining date is Sept. 24 in Toronto. A complete list of dates can be found at ClubDevo.com.

Is Weezer teasing new music?

Fans of Rivers Cuomo and company are hoping to say it is so after the band updated their logo on their Facebook and website. The image features Weezer’s signature flying-W logo in white against an all-black background.

Weezer, of course, is known for putting out color-themed albums ever since their 1994 self-titled debut became known as the Blue Album. However, they already put out a Black Album in 2019, so we’re guessing that’s not what the logo change is teasing.

The most recent Weezer albums are 2021’s OK Human and Van Weezer. They also put out four EPs in 2022 as part of their SZNZ project.

In addition to maybe possibly teasing new music, Weezer is working on a movie, which they revealed during their set at Coachella in April.

Gunna‘s The Last Wun debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, according to Billboard. With 80,000 equivalent album units earned, it’s secured the #3 spot, becoming his seventh top-10 effort on the chart. Of that total, 79,000 units came from streaming, also landing the album at #3 on the Top Streaming Albums list.

Lil Baby has announced that his album The Leaks will arrive on Sept. 5. He also shared the track list for the project, which features G Herbo, Rylo Rodriguez, Young Thug and Lil Yachty, among others.

It seems Earl Sweatshirt has some music on the way. Next to a photo montage including a photo him, Chris Brown and a LeBron James meme, he wrote, “8/22 LLLz.” Live Laugh Love will arrive on Aug. 22.

Jay-Z might also be cooking up in the studio, according to producer Memphis Bleek. He said during a recent appearance on Drink Champs, “I just was with him in Vegas. … He just came out on the show, like, yo, my n****, they went stupid,” Bleek said of Hov’s appearance at Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter show. “I said, ‘Listen, I know you working. Save me a verse.’ He’s like, ‘Alright, I got you.’ So if it happens, it happens.”

With Drake‘s upcoming album titled Iceman, NBA legend George “Iceman” Gervin decided to give him a gift, Billboard reports. He reportedly gave Drake his #44 San Antonio Spurs jersey with a special message on the back: “To: Drake, to Iceman From: 44 Iceman.”

Fleetwood Mac founder Mick Fleetwood made a special appearance Saturday night at the second annual Maui Music and Food Experience.

The two-day event took place Friday and Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa in Hawaii, with Fleetwood turning up for a Jimi Hendrix tribute during a set by Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk. Other special guests during the performance included The Isley Brothers‘ Ernie IsleyBernard Fowler, best known for his longtime career singing backup for The Rolling Stones; and blues rock guitarist Wayne Baker Brooks.

The Maui Music and Food Experience helped raise $200,000 for the Hua Momona Foundation and its charitable efforts to help the Lahaina community. The organization plans to hold another event on Nov. 7 in Chicago.

Fleetwood also performed at the inaugural Maui Music and Food Experience, as did Neville and Fowler. It took place in September 2024, and raised money for essential services like food and housing for the survivors of the 2023 Maui wildfires. Fleetwood himself was a victim of the fires; his Maui restaurant, Fleetwood’s on Front Street, was one of the many businesses destroyed.

Thirteen-year-old Houston native Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel managed to raise $200,000 to help kids fighting cancer, with a little help from his new friends Jason Aldean and Darius Rucker.

DJ himself suffers from a rare form of brain and spinal cancer, but continues to fight, even though he was told almost eight years ago he only had five months to live. Since then, he’s been working to help others facing similar battles.

Back in June, he posted an Instagram video asking “Hey, does anybody know Jason Aldean? Because we’re trying to do a country show down here to raise money for kids with cancer.” Darius happened to be with Jason at the time, and the two responded with a promise to help.

The end result was a day of fun for DJ and other kids prior to Jason’s sold-out Full Throttle show Aug. 15 in Houston. There was mini-golf, batting practice, meet-and-greets with the Astros, plus tickets to a future game.

DJ ended the day joining Jason onstage at the concert. Along the way, the “Whiskey Drink” hitmaker also made a $200,000 donation to Heroes for Children, a non-profit that helps kids and families dealing with cancer.

It feels like a dark aura for Joey Bada$$, who has just released a brand-new music video.

The visual for “Dark Aura” begins with Joey counting money at a desk, before the camera pans over to watch as he gets dressed for a night out at New York City’s Blue Note. Other clips see him boxing, in the studio and rapping in various settings including the back of a car, the woods and in front of a garage that reads, “Lonely at the Top” in graffiti.

Lonely at the Top is the name of Joey’s upcoming album. It arrives Aug. 25 and will soon be supported by his 25-city headlining Dark Aura Tour. The trek is set to kick off on Oct. 16 with special guests Rapsody and Ab-Soul.

Tickets will go sale Tuesday starting with an artist presale; a general sale will follow on Thursday.

Nothing More has premiered the video for “EXISTENTIAL DREAD,” a track off the band’s latest album, CARNAL.

The clip cycles through different fantastical images, including hooded figures drowning in a river of gold. In a post previewing the video, fans expressed that it looked like it was made with AI.

“AI didn’t make a video for us,” frontman Jonny Hawkins wrote in response. “We hired an artists, I plotted out a vision, theme and visuals. Then that artist (Tristan) used AI to start generation images that he edited together through multiple versions with notes… and then tweaked that into a visual experience for the viewer.”

“If you think it’s ‘just machines creating it’ then I would challenge you to come up with anything as compelling as Tristan did for the same price with different tools,” Hawkins continued. “Would love to see what you come up with. Out compete him if what you say is true.”

The “EXISTENTIAL DREAD” video is now on YouTube.

CARNAL was released in 2024, and a deluxe version dropped in March. Together, both versions have spawned #1 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with “IF IT DOESN’T HURT,” “ANGEL SONG” featuring Disturbed‘s David Draiman, “HOUSE ON SAND” featuring I Prevail‘s Eric Vanlerberghe and “FREEFALL” featuring Chris Daughtry.

Neil Young famously blasted corporate sponsorship invading rock and roll in the 1988 song “This Note’s For You,” and it appears that he’s still not happy about it.

During his show Sunday night, he performed the song during his encore, which according to setlist.fm marked the first time he’s performed the track since 1997. The song directly calls out corporations like Coke, Pepsi and Budweiser in its lyrics. The choice to add it to his set Sunday was notable as he was headlining a venue sponsored by a corporation, the Budweiser Stage in Toronto.

“This Note’s For You” was the subject of some controversy when the song was released. The title was inspired by Budweiser’s “This Bud’s For You” campaign, and the video for the track parodied popular ads that featured music and appearances by artists like Eric Clapton, Genesis and others, and included impersonators of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.

MTV initially refused to air it but the network eventually added it to the rotation and it went on to win video of the year at the 1989 MTV VMAs.

And Young fans in Canada may get to hear him perform the song again. He’s set to play the Budweiser Stage in Toronto again on Tuesday.

Twenty One Pilots have shared a new song called “Drum Show,” a track off the band’s upcoming album, Breach.

Befitting of its title, “Drum Show” features vocals by drummer Josh Dun, who also provides a characteristically energetic beat.

You can watch the “Drum Show” video streaming now on YouTube

Breach, the follow-up to 2024’s Clancy, drops Sept. 12. It also includes the lead single “The Contract.”

In other news, frontman Tyler Joseph has shared a statement regarding Twenty One Pilots’ future live plans following their upcoming U.S. Breach tour, which begins Sept. 18 in Cincinnati.

“Then after that…I’m not sure,” Joseph writes in an Instagram post. “I’m not saying it’s our last tour ever; I’m just saying, other than maybe some festivals next year, it will be the first time in our career we won’t know when we will tour again.”

He continues, “Sucks that we aren’t giving Breach a proper world tour, and I’m sorry to our friends outside of the States.”
