When Jon Bon Jovi‘s son got married in 2024, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer didn’t perform at the event. But Melissa Etheridge was only too happy to take the stage when her daughter got married.

People reports that Melissa’s daughter Bailey Jean Cypheridge married Jocelyn Simone Rhude Sept. 5 at a winery in Sonoma, California, and the couple insisted on having a concert take place at the reception. Among the 12 performers was Melissa, who also walked Bailey down the aisle.

According to Bailey, Melissa “performed a few songs,” including a new one that she wrote for the couple, which she plans to put on her next album.

“We got to hear the song beforehand! It was beautiful to hear it live, we passed out tissues,” Jocelyn said of the song.

Bailey is Melissa’s daughter with her former partner Julie Cypher. The two also had a son, Beckett Cypher, who struggled with opioid addiction and died in 2020. Both children’s biological father was late rock legend David Crosby.

Melissa had been on tour with Indigo Girls, but took time off for the wedding. She returned to the tour Wednesday, as she and the duo headlined New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

Imagine if instead of Madonna it had been Jennifer Lopez starring as Eva Perón in the 1996 movie Evita. According to JLo, it could have happened.

Variety reports that during a post-screening Q&A for her new movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Jennifer recalled her previously failed attempts to land roles in movie musicals. One of those was Evita, which was directed by Alan Parker.

Jennifer recalled, “I went to audition for Evita for Alan Parker. I had been practicing for weeks and I sing my heart out and he goes, ‘You’re amazing. You know Madonna has the part, right?’”

She added, “I said, ‘OK, bye-bye. Nice to meet you.’”

Madonna went on to win a Golden Globe for best actress in a film, musical or comedy for her role as the former first lady of Argentina. One of the numbers she sang in the movie, “You Must Love Me,” won the Oscar for best original song.

Jennifer said she also auditioned for the movie musicals Chicago and Nine, but didn’t get the parts. She was supposed to star in a live version of Bye Bye Birdie on NBC in 2016, but the project never happened. Now, with Kiss of the Spider Woman, based on the 1992 Broadway musical of the same name, Jennifer said, “I’m living my childhood dreams.”

Kiss of the Spider Woman is in theaters Oct. 10.

More than 30 years after the release of his first single, Kenny Chesney‘s having a new experience in the recording studio: He’s busy recording the audiobook of his forthcoming memoir, Heart Life Music.

“Reading it, all of these stories become real again,” he reflects. “It takes a lot longer than I thought to record an audio book, or maybe it’s just I would get lost in seeing all the people and places along the way.”

“In a way, it’s what I did with my summer vacation: visit all these adventures I’ve had, because when I started to hear the stories, I felt like I was living them all over again,” he adds.

Heart Life Music arrives Nov. 4, around the same time Kenny will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at the annual Medallion Ceremony in Nashville.

It sounds like Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour would be open to an ABBA-like avatar show.

Louder Sound reports that at the premiere of his concert film Live At Circus Maximus, Rome at London’s BFI IMAX, Gilmour was asked how he’d feel about playing some modern venues, like the Sphere in Las Vegas. And he had an interesting take on it.

“Well, you know, I’m hoping, one of these days, to go there and sit and watch myself doing it, which is something I’ve always wanted to do,” he said. “My avatar, you know? So I don’t actually have to get up and do it.”

Live at Circus MaximusRome hits theaters and IMAX on Sept. 17. It is a recording of a concert on Gilmour’s 2024 Luck and Strange tour at the famed Italian venue set against the backdrop of the ancient ruins of Rome.

Tickets are on sale now at DavidGilmour.film.

And in Pink Floyd news, fans think the band has been teasing an upcoming announcement with some cryptic posts on social media and digital services.

The band has blacked out the cover photos on their social media pages, and on digital services the covers of all their albums have been replaced with black squares with one line descriptions of the cover art. For example, on Wish You Were Here it reads “two men in suits shaking hands one man is on fire.” The Wall reads, “A wall of white bricks with red graffiti.”

Although there’s no word on what they could be teasing, Friday marks the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, so it could be related to that milestone.

The Destiny‘s Child reunion during Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter show in Vegas in July was an impromptu performance. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday night, Michelle Williams referred to the onstage meeting as “spur-of-the-moment.”

“The last Coachella, we had a little more time [to prepare],” she said. “And this one was just, ‘Y’all let’s do this,’ and we did.”

She opted out of explaining how the trio landed on the songs “Lose My Breath,” “Energy” and “Bootylicious” for the performance.

“See, I don’t like giving away secrets,” Michelle told Andy Cohen. “There are talks, but I think … why we’re able to have impact too, it’s not only the fact that people miss us, it’s because of what we don’t share.”

Michelle also remained mum when asked if Bey’s mysterious Act III project will be a full Destiny’s Child album. She did leave some hope that the group will soon make some music together again.

“Anything is possible. To me, performing onstage is like that for me. I only like it with Beyoncé and Kelly [Rowland],” she said. “But as far as Broadway, I’m a Broadway girl. … Music? I only want to do it with them.”

Michelle stars alongside Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard in the Broadway musical Death Becomes Her.

Gorillaz to release star-studded new album ‘The Mountain’

Gorillaz, ‘The Mountain’ (KONG)

Damon Albarn confirmed in March that he was finishing a new Gorillaz album, and now we know when it’s coming out.

The Mountain will arrive March 20, 2026; it’s the group’s first release on their new label, KONG. The first track to be shared, “The Happy Dictator,” features cult duo Sparks and is out now, along with a visualizer.

Sparks is far from the only guest appearance on The Mountain. Among the other artists who appear are regular collaborator Johnny Marr, IDLES, The Roots Black Thought, The Clash bass player Paul Simonon — who recorded and toured with Gorillaz in 2010 and 2011 — and many Indian artists. That’s because, according to a press release, the members of the animated group — Murdoc NiccalsNoodleRussel Hobbs and 2D — are now living in Mumbai and have “turned their backs on international pop stardom” to focus on “the rhythms of mystical music-making.”

Gorillaz drummer Russel says in a statement, “As space dust we are here forever and that’s a mighty long time. This is a musical meditation infused with light. A journey of the soul, with beats.”

The album includes songs performed in Arabic, Hindi, Spanish and Yoruba.

Also heard on the album are the voices of artists and celebrities who have passed away, including actor Dennis Hopper, The Fall‘s Mark E Smith, D12 rapper Proof, R&B legend Bobby Womack and Dave Jolicoeur of De La Soul.

Meanwhile, The Mountain Tour will visit arenas in the U.K. and Ireland beginning in the spring of 2026.
