Bruce Springsteen appeared at the New York Film Festival premiere of his biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere Sunday, where he surprised the audience with a performance of “Land of Hope and Dreams.”

Springsteen shared video of the performance on Instagram, and before the performance he thanked the audience for coming out, and then gave shout outs to the film’s cast and director, Scott Cooper.

He noted that Jeremy Allen White, who plays him on the big screen, put “his whole heart and soul in the part,” adding, he did a wonderful job “playing a much better-looking version of me.” He also thanked Jeremy Strong, who plays his manager Jon Landau, for his “creativity and his inspiration,” noting, “he played a much, much better looking Jon Landau.”

He called out Stephen Graham “for being the living embodiment of my late father,” and Gabby Hoffman for playing his mom, noting, “They’re all gone now, so it’s nice to have this piece of film.”

Springsteen also shared some “last thoughts” before the song.

“These days we have daily events reminding us of the fact that we’re living through these particularly dangerous times,” Springsteen shared. “I spent my life on the road, I’ve been moving around the world as kind of a musical ambassador for America, trying to measure the distance between American reality, where we’ve often fallen short of our ideals of the American dream.”

He added, “Seeing that America, as battered as she feels right now, but for a lot of folks out there, she continues to be a land of hope and dreams, not of fear or divisiveness or government censorship or hatred…That America is worth fighting for.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere hits theaters and IMAX on Oct. 24. Tickets for IMAX screenings are on sale now.

Charlie Puth wrapped up his New York City residency at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club Sunday night with a show that mixed new arrangements of his old hits with a few new tunes and one cover.

Charlie was visibly delighted to be performing at the intimate venue — which only holds about 200 people — with a team of crack musicians and vocalists. He stopped the show a couple of times to autograph one of his setlists from 2016 that one fan had brought, and to accept a gift from another fan who’d traveled from Tokyo, Japan.

Charlie debuted two new songs — “Beat Yourself Up” and “Changes” — from his new album which, according to signage in the venue, will be called Whatever’s Clever. Fans who attended the residency were offered a QR code to scan to order a limited-edition vinyl version that will include a “Best of the Blue Note Residency” recording.

In addition, Charlie performed older songs like “Attention,” “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” “BOY,” “Suffer,” “Cheating on You” and “How Long,” as well as a cover of New Edition‘s “Can You Stand the Rain” and, of course, a rendition of his #1 hit “See You Again” — without the Wiz Khalifa rap.

No word yet on when the new album will be released. Charlie will now move his residency to the Blue Note Jazz Club in Los Angeles: Those shows run from Oct. 16 to 19.

From Florida to the islands, Megan Moroney believes ‘You Had to Be There’

With only eight shows remaining, Megan Moroney‘s counting down to the end of her Am I Okay? Tour.

Megan does wax nostalgic about her time on the road; just listen to one of her current hits, “You Had to Be There,” which was inspired by her 2024 run with Kenny Chesney.

“I wrote this as a gift to Kenny, so I had no idea what to get him,” she explains. “But we were down in Florida on a writer’s trip. … And [I] took a guitar, started playing some chords that sounded like a Kenny Chesney-esque song.”

“[I] wrote the song in 45 minutes,” she continues, “and then I ended up writing the lyrics down on a piece of paper and giving it to him when we went to the islands after Christmas.”

Lest it seem like Megan was trying to pressure her pal into a duet, she gave him an out.

“I did preface it by saying, ‘If you absolutely hate it, I just want to give this to you as a gift, because I appreciate you so much for taking me on tour. We don’t have to ever put this out, nobody has to hear it,'” she reveals. “But he ended up loving it.”

Kenny’s instincts once again proved to be right, as both “You Had to Be There” and Megan’s solo “6 Months Later” are top-30 hits right now.

Megan’s next tour stop is Tuesday at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

In a post on Instagram, Rucker performs the Automatic for the People track “Everybody Huts,” dubbing the performance “episode 1 of Songs I Wish I’d Written.”

And it looks like the folks at R.E.M. are impressed with his rendition, sharing Darius’ cover on Instagram with the caption,  “Such a beautiful version… looking forward to @howlowlhowl.”

Madonna makes her podcast debut on Monday, joining Jay Shetty’s On Purpose. Shetty teased the appearance on Sunday before confirming it on his Instagram Story with the tagline, “Madonna like you’ve never seen her before.”

People has a sneak peek at the conversation, in which Madonna and Shetty discuss spirituality, and Madonna opens up about her spiritual journey, which started with the birth of her first child, Lourdes Leon. She tells Shetty, “You need to be spiritual to be successful. Success is having a spiritual life, period. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have one.”

Madonna also discussed how important it is for her to give back. “What have I done for others? That’s really the only way you can be successful in life,” she tells Shetty. “It’s like the greatest amount of light is where there’s darkness and you can reveal the most amount of light.”

She adds, “My soul’s purpose is to reveal light in the world through whatever I do,” and later notes, “I want it all, but I want it for the sake of sharing, not to keep it for myself.”

Also in the episode, Madonna admits that she was once “a slave or victim of other people’s opinions of me,” but now, she says, she realizes, “I don’t fit in, and not fitting in is what saves you.”

Hair hysteria: Jessie Murph’s beehive is ‘such a hassle,’ but she ‘loves it’

Jessie Murph, ‘Sex Hysteria’ (Columbia Records)

As part of Jessie Murph‘s current Sex Hysteria era, she’s adopted a huge beehive hairdo, similar to the one that Priscilla Presley wore in 1967, when she married the King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley. Jessie says maintaining that hairdo on tour is difficult, but worth it.

“The big hair is something I’ve always wanted to do,” the “Blue Strips” singer tells ABC Audio. “It’s such a b**** to do and to take out. But, I don’t know. I love it. And it’s definitely been one of my favorite parts of this era.”

As Jessie explains, getting her hair into that ‘do before she goes onstage every night is quite the process, so she’s lucky that someone else is responsible for it.

“It takes about two hours, an hour and a half to two hours. But I’m not doing it,” she says. “If I was doing it, it would take me like three, four hours probably.”

“It’s such a hassle. But to take it out … sometimes if it’s real late, I’ll just fall asleep,” she laughs. “And then I’ll wake up the next day and it’s just real bad!”

Jessie wrapped up the North American leg of her Worldwide Hysteria tour Saturday night in LA. Joining her onstage was singer/songwriter Don McLean, for a duet version of his iconic song, “American Pie.” It was only the third time in his five decade-long career that he’d performed a duet version of the song live onstage. Jessie posted footage of the moment on her Instagram Story.

Jessie next heads to Europe, the U.K. and Ireland before heading back the other way to perform in Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. The tour wraps Nov. 22. in Auckland.

Fans are getting to see the world of Sleep Token unfold up close as the enigmatic band continues their U.S. tour in support of their new album, Even in Arcadia. One person who’s gotten very close to the “Emergence” outfit is Johnny Franck, former guitarist for the metalcore group Attack Attack!, who opened for Sleep Token’s European tour in 2024 with his Bilmuri project.

As Franck tells ABC Audio, the tour allowed him to meet Sleep Token’s mysterious, anonymous frontman, known publicly only as Vessel.

“He’s genuinely someone that I really love,” Franck says of Vessel. “I enjoy him very deeply as a person.”

Like Sleep Token, Bilmuri combines elements of many different genres to create their sound. While Sleep Token filters that through an elaborate mythology based around an ancient deity, Bilmuri’s message is more about the highs and lows of living in the American Midwest.

To that end, Franck likens Bilmuri’s role in a Sleep Token show to comic relief in a dramatic movie.

“When they asked if we would hop on that tour, I was like, ‘Somehow, this makes all the sense in the world to me,'” Franck recalls. “I would imagine we provide just some sort of lighter thing before you delve into this heavy set from Sleep Token that’s really emotional and stuff like that. I think those two things go together really well.”

Touring with Sleep Token also allowed Franck to become more comfortable playing larger venues.

“It was cool at the end of the tour, we played [London’s] O2 and I walked in and I was like, ‘I feel excited nervous for the show, but I don’t feel daunted by this room in the same way that I did three weeks prior,'” he says.

Sleep Token’s tour continues Tuesday in Lincoln, Nebraska.
