Rolling Stone is taking a look back at the last 25 years of music.

On Wednesday, the outlet released its list of the 250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century So Far.

The selections span geography, genre and style, and the list attempts to encapsulate “the full chaotic glory of 21st-century music, one song at a time,” according to Rolling Stone.

Taking home the #1 spot on the expansive list of tunes is Missy Elliott‘s 2001 hit “Get Ur Freak On.” The song played an instrumental role in Elliot’s career, and helped her gain status as the first female hip-hop artist and third rapper ever to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

“Everything vibrant and inventive and cool about 21st-century pop is in here somewhere,” Rolling Stone wrote of the song.

Other songs that made the top 10 include Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s 2003 jam “Crazy in Love” at #3, 2015’s “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar at #7 and the soulful 2012 song “Thinkin Bout You” by Frank Ocean at #10.

SZA‘s “Snooze,” OutKast‘s “B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad),” Mariah Carey‘s “We Belong Together,”  Drake‘s “Hotline Bling,” Steve Lacy‘s “Bad Habit,” Wizkid feat. Tems‘ “Essence,” D’Angelo‘s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” and Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” all made the top 25.

The full list is available on rollingstone.com.

If you’ve checked out Prime Video’s new show The Runarounds, you might have noticed a familiar face: Midland‘s Mark Wystrach.

The singer/songwriter, actor and model plays a music store owner who mentors the North Carolina band at the center of the show.

“I am grateful for the unforgettable experience to portray Catesby Shaw on The Runarounds alongside an incredible cast and crew,” Mark says. “Each and every member of the real band, The Runarounds, are serious musicians and fantastic actors. The rest of the cast is also amazing, as are the cities of Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, NC.”

The show’s proven so popular that the band is playing their own Minivan Tour this fall.

Mark previously appeared in 2021’s Oscar-winning The Eyes of Tammy Faye and will be in bandmate Cameron Duddy‘s Cowboy, which is coming in 2026.

Meanwhile, Midland continues to make music and tour, releasing “Glass Half Empty” in May.

Rolling Stone is back with another list for music fans to argue over.

This time, it’s a tally of the 250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century So Far, which the publication says reflect “an era of constant change,” including the rise of streaming, and the expansion of global genres like K-pop and reggaeton. The list “highlights the tracks that have defined music’s chaotic, wide-open landscape,” Rolling Stone notes.

The #1 song is 2001’s “Get Ur Freak On” by Missy Elliott, about which Rolling Stone writes, “Everything vibrant and inventive and cool about 21st-century pop is in here somewhere.” Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s hit “Crazy in Love” is #3, for giving a “warning to the rest of the pop world that Beyoncé the solo star had officially arrived.”

Taylor Swift is #5 with “All Too Well,” which Rolling Stone says is Taylor’s “toughest, rawest, most passionate heartbreak anthem.” The publication notes that the song was not a single until she released the 10-minute version in 2021; it quickly became a phenomenon, topping the charts and becoming a centerpiece of the Eras Tour.

Britney Spears‘ “Toxic” is #9. Rolling Stone calls it “the ultimate Britney classic,” noting, “She never sounded so brash, so confident, so herself.”

The rest of the top 50 includes hits like “Blinding Lights,” “Call Me Maybe,” “Someone Like You,” “Since U Been Gone,” “drivers license,” “Thank u, next,” “We Found Love,” “Pink Pony Club,” “Bad Romance,” “Bad Guy” and “We Belong Together.”

And coming in last, at #250? Train‘s “Drops of Jupiter.”

Here’s Rolling Stone‘s full top 10:

1. Missy Elliott, “Get Ur Freak On”
2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs, “Maps”
3. Beyoncé and Jay-Z, “Crazy In Love”
4. The White Stripes, “Seven Nation Army”
5. Taylor Swift, “All Too Well”
6. Robyn, “Dancing on My Own”

After three years of hiatus, Verzuz is set to make a comeback. The platform, which celebrates the discographies of artists in the culture, will return at ComplexCon 2025. Creators Timbaland and Swizz Beatz announced the news Wednesday, revealing the first showdown will be between labels Cash Money and No Limit.

“IT’S OFFICIAL. Verzuz is BACK — live at #ComplexCon Las Vegas. Cash Money VERZUZ No Limit Celebration,” read the announcement. “One stage. Two legendary iconic Labels. History is about to be made !!”

The event will take place Oct. 25 in Las Vegas; tickets are currently are on sale. Streaming details will be announced at a later time.

Created during the pandemic as a series displayed on Instagram Live, Verzuz is a music battle that saw artists put their best hits up against each other, with music consumers as the audience. It later evolved to include a live audience, with streaming expanding to the Verzuz website, YouTube and TrillerTV, which had once acquired the platform.

Fans watched competitions between Brandy and Monica, Fat Joe and Ja Rule, and Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane, and more; Mario and Omarion were the last to face off before the series went on hiatus.

The break was extended as Swizz Beatz and Timbaland handled legal issues with TrillerTV, alleging the company failed to make acquisition payments. Variety reports they sued the company for $28 million in August 2022 and later settled for an undisclosed amount. The producers have since found a new distribution partner in the social media platform X, according to the outlet.

Dolly Parton posted a video to Instagram on Wednesday reassuring fans she is doing “OK” amid concern for her health.

“I ain’t dead yet!” she captioned the video, where she spoke to fans directly.

The message comes after Frieda Parton, her sister, on Tuesday asked for prayers for the country music star, before clarifying she was simply “a little under the weather” and not seriously ill.

In her video, Parton spoke to the camera, explaining she was working on commercials for the Grand Ole Opry, joking, “I know lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you?”

“I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease, those of you that seem to be real concerned, which I appreciate,” she said. She added that during her late husband Carl Dean’s illness, she “let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of” healthwise.

“When I got around to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this, we need to take care of that,'” she said.

She added her health issues are “nothing major” and she’s “not dying,” but she needed to be close to Vanderbilt, where she was receiving treatment.

“I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was OK. So anyhow that’s what I wanted to say and I’m not ready to die yet, I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done working,” she said before signing off.

Dolly initially sparked speculation about her health when the singer announced on social media Sept. 28 that she was postponing her upcoming Las Vegas residency due to health concerns.

Domino’s is debuting a new brand refresh complete with bolder colors, modern design and an updated sound, thanks to the musical talents of Shaboozey, whom the pizza chain enlisted to record a catchy new jingle.

“Pizza is that one food that brings everyone together — different people and generations and cultures — and no one does it better than Domino’s,” Shaboozey said in a press release. “It was a fun challenge to be the voice for the most craveable food.”

The Michigan-based company revealed its modernized marketing on Wednesday, including a new tagline: “You can’t say ‘Domino’s’ without saying ‘mmm.'”

The company said in a press release that its first refresh in 13 years “took inspiration from its past and present” to “better reach current and future pizza lovers.”

Domino’s worked with Shaboozey, a five-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, to launch its new audio and visual representation of the updated tagline with the new “Dommmino‘s” jingle.

The new look is set to roll out in the U.S. and international markets over the coming months on TV, digital advertising, the Domino’s website, ordering app, boxes, print materials, in-store graphics and team member gear.

Sabrina Carpenter is racking up the country bucket list items. After duetting with Dolly Parton last year, she sang with Shania Twain at the Austin City Limits festival on Oct. 4. Now she’s made her debut on Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, the iconic country music broadcast that’s been around since 1925.

Sabrina performed at the Grand Ole Opry House just outside of downtown Nashville on Tuesday, and Sheryl Crow stopped by to introduce her. “What a magical night it was,” Sabrina wrote on Instagram, alongside a carousel of videos and photos.

“The brilliant @sherylcrow took the time to come out and introduce me and i am the biggest fan ever so that made my whole night alone if nothing else!!!” she added. “Thank you to the showstopping band that accompanied me last night. Thank you to my amazing fans who came out and for the Opry frequenters that opened me with welcome ears and hearts :’) I’m a lucky girl!”

Rolling Stone reports that Sabrina erased the frequent f-bombs in her songs for the occasion, telling the audience, “You’re so wholesome here in Nashville. That’s why I’m doing all the clean versions.” The set list included the hits “Please Please Please” and “Manchild,” which normally contain the f-word.

Sabrina also shared her country music bona fides, noting that while growing up in Pennsylvania she listened to Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline. She said her album Man’s Best Friend was put together with “a pedal steel [guitar], a banjo and a dream.”

Sabrina’s performance was part of the Opry’s centennial celebration.

Queen has been named the U.K.’s most played rock act of the 21st century by the music rights organization PPL.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers earned the honor with 400 million seconds, or the equivalent of 12 1/2 years, of continuous play on U.K. radio and TV over the past century.

When it comes to Queen songs, “A Kind of Magic,” the title track of their 1986 album, is their most played track of the 21st century. That’s followed by “I Want To Break Free,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “Radio Ga-Ga” and “Somebody To Love.”

“Astounding news!” Queen’s Brian May says. “Bearing in mind that most of Queen’s major works were done in the 20th century, it’s amazing to top a 21st century list. Big thanks to all our fans.”

The list was released in honor of the U.K.’s upcoming National Album Day on Oct. 18. Landing just behind Queen on the list is David Bowie, with U2, Oasis and Fleetwood Mac rounding out the top five.

Other artists in the top 10 include The Rolling Stones at #7 and The Police at #8.
